Speech would take to long, James decided as he simply tugged the female towards him and kissed her. He stepped slightly into her to hug her as he kissed her.

Arianeira's hands flew up to his shoulders automatically, but it took a moment for her brain to register what he had done. Then she tilted her head up towards him slightly and returned the kiss, letting her eyes close.

For a moment, a terrible moment, Stratford had feared she'd reject him. He tensed, then sighed in relief as she kissed him back. His eyes closed in silent gratitude as he returned the kiss with nervous twitches of his lips.

Arianeira held the kiss for a few seconds and then gently pulled away. She looked up at him, slightly worried. "James, this probably isn't a good idea..."

A deeply hurt expression crossed James' face as he drew back. His arms dropped to his side as the stunnenness hurt him. "Why...?" He shook his head, unable to stay any longer. Without a pause he left the room.

"James!" She called after him, but didn't follow. She leant back against the door, feeling guilty. How am I supposed to explain anyway? She hated feeling confused, and hated even more that she had no idea what she was supposed to do now. She sighed. Now I've really messed things up.

James had left the door open unwittingly as he left the room so when he sat down by the wall with his face in his knees, hands over his head as his shoulders shook.

Arianeira sighed. I have to say something. She turned back to go and look for him, when she realised where he was. Feeling incredibly guilty, she hesitated a second, then left the room, crossing to him. Still not sure what to say, she sat beside him before saying softly, "James?"

James stared at the ground, face hidden. "What." His tone was painfully civil.

She looked away, slightly hurt by the tone. "I'm sorry." She muttered, realising that she'd just messed things up even further and moving to stand up and leave him alone, "I... just wanted you to know that."

Arianeira turned back. "I don't know." She admitted honestly. "I feel so confused. I don't want to start something and then ruin it because I'm still not sure how I feel."

Rose, in her own little crusier, Watched the swirling black hole in silent awe. Yawning, she flicked on the radio, to some really, really, REALLY old rock music, like some Fallout boy.

James shrugged at that. Couldn't get much simpler. He glanced up quickly at a ping from the front room. Silently, he walked towards the living area, looking at the hologram screen. It showed a large blip that had entered the system. He smiled cooly at it, waving his hands to show the name of the vessel. The FEN Christine crusied slowly towards the planet Endret II, decellerating from its hyperspace jump.
Captain Stratford shut himself in his room while he packed again.

Arianeira watched as he shrugged and went into the main room. Feeling slightly lost, she went slowly back into her own, closing the door softly behind her and going back to the bed, lying face down with her face buried in the pillow miserably.
