"I don't believe we have," Loki answered, "but-"

"However..." Jarod interrupted, "We would be happy to help you find one."

Loki sighed, wishing Jarod had not gone so much into character. "...right. As he says." Loki was genuinely interested in identity of the woman, seeing as how she seemed - and sounded - out of place. Then again, the same probably applied to Jarod and herself to some extent. Who knew, perhaps she would end up being someone who could help them find the Defenders. So much for finding out what happened last night.

Jarod obviously was interested in the woman, though not in the way the college student expressed. He had quickly recognized the hint of french in her voice. Just about as new as we are. Perhaps if she accepted their aid he and his mother could get some information out of her.

"If you so insist" her expression remained the same blank emptiness that it almost always was as she took out a small black notebook from her inner pocket, jotted something down in it and put it away again. "So where do we start, Miss...?" She may as well try to be civil with these people, well one of them at least (she was still making a blatant point to ignore the man).
After all, they had not shown any signs of distrust yet, 'huh, I must be getting soft' at this thought, a second one followed, the disembodied corpse of the man in the woods, blood gushing from what was left of his mouth. 'Doubtful'

"I apologize," Chaim began as Karinda walked toward the door, the scent of herbs floating from within, "but I must leave you. The healer's name is Ooli. Let him know that I sent you, and I'm sure he will be more than hospitable."

"Grammercy, Chaim." Karinda gave a quick, respectful bow. "Your assistance is much appreciated."

Saiirin nodded in agreement.

"It is my pleasure." He smiled as Karinda and Saiirin entered the stone building. Closing the door behind the two, he turned and headed back the way he had come.

Karinda paused just inside the door, Saiirin sitting at Karinda's heels.

Lit by a small chandelier, the walls of the fairly large room were lined with shelves upon shelves, their surfaces invisible beneath mounds of jars, herbs, and other miscellaneous. A desk sat across from her, its top piled high with books and papers, a doorway embedded into the wall behind it with many strands of beads hanging from its lintel.

"Pray pardon me," Karinda called uncertainly, taking a couple tentative steps further into the room.

"What, what?" an eccentric voice called above the soft, Arabian music flowing from an invisible source. "Who's there?" A short man with a beard down to his waist emerged from behind the doorway, the curtain of beads swinging in his wake. Catching sight of Karinda, he asked, "Who're you?"

"Good day, good sir," Karinda said, eyeing the man as he mimicked the action of her. "My name is Karinda. By the words of Chaim, I hath come hither in search of the master healer, Ooli."

"'Master healer'?" A smile played across the man's face. "You must be new here." he chuckled. "What can I do for you?"

"My good dragon friend," Karinda gestured to the glowing dragon at her feet, "has ingested an illuminated morel from the chamber from whence we first arrived. In turn, her scales began to glow. Have you perchance a tonic that will cure her?"

The man laughed, gaining him a barked growl from Saiirin. "I'm afraid not! It'll have to run through her system. Depending on her metabolism, that should take between one and three days, max."

Saiirin growled. Fie upon that wretched mushroom! her mental words hissed through Karinda's mind.

"'Tis fault of yours and yours alone, Saiirin!" Karinda turned her playful smirk to the dragon, who snorted.

"You don't sound like you're from around here," Ooli said, moving from behind his desk, his gait slow. "Did you just fly in from Medieval Land or something?"

"Nay. I hath never heard of such a place." Karinda's brows furrowed in confusion.

"Hmm. Come on, I've got some tea brewing in back. I always make enough for a few cups." He moved back around his desk and pushed aside the beads guarding the doorway. Sensing Karinda had not moved, he turned back around. "Come on, I won't bite and the tea's good."

With a small smile, Karinda followed the short man beyond the doorway, pausing to examine the strange bead curtain.

"Agrona." The whispered name rose to the demon from her perch atop one of the arena's snakes. Turning her attention to the ground, her eyes fell upon a form clad in a cloak of shadows.

With a silent command, the snake's head bent to the ground as the battle raged on between her cat-creatures and Xerxes.

"What is it, Garthin?" she asked, jumping gracefully from the snake. As soon as her feet left its stone skin, the snake stretched upward, its glowing eyes turning to the battle beneath it.

"There are new arrivals to the town that are requesting your presence."

A small, wicked smile pricked at the corner of her lips. "Give my apologies to Xerxes," she ordered, her tone insincere, "but something else has called for my attention." With quick steps, she glided across the thick lawn behind her castle.

((I'm sorry it takes me so looongg... OTL))

"This way!" Jarod, unlike his mother, had in fact spotted a library. It was small, but a library nonetheless. The fact that he was being ignored did not bother him too much. Many adults tend to ignore children, and although he was not in the form of a child he was still familiar with such a situation.

Loki followed after him, enjoying the sights there were to see. It was always interesting to travel to new places as well as long forgotten ones. With Jarod being the leader of the small group Loki was left with the company of... of... well, they had never introduced each other. Well, it shouldn't be too difficult to acquire her name, despite the somewhat awkward situation.
"So, are you from around here, Miss... um... ?"

"Here we are," Jarod called from his position in front of them. He opened the door for them, and as he did so the sound of a small bell rang through the air. His real self was excited. He loved books, and was always happy to find a place filled with them in each new area he and his mother ended up in.

"Reaper" Willow answered though she sounded completely uninterested in the conversation already. Following them to the library she quickly split from them, off towards the back of the building, "Shan't be a moment, feel free not to help."

Plushy walked down the streat of the small town, he delivered the mail. None of the other dragons would think to look for Plushy here, but then they didn't want him eather. Plushy looked at the last package, 437 green blue, and went to the library there. 'Must be the new books that just came out.' he thought. Plushy put the package through the back door with his tail, and waited for the librarien to take it.

((Since my characters are not interacting with other players, I am just going to do a time-skip with Karinda and Saiirin.))

Karinda glanced to Jarion as the platinum haired elf spoke, still incapable of believing someone from the clan she had once been apart of held such a position within the Defenders' army.

"A few creatures most humans now dub 'mythical' reside within this town," Jarion began, glancing to Saiirin before his purple gaze meet Karinda's eyes. "Everyone here knows of the 'Invisible World' and any outside human visitors are easily enchanted to see nothing out of place. It should be a good place for you to get your bearings in the new era. I don't have long, but I can take you to the library where someone will help you once I depart."

"Grammercy, Jarion." Karinda said with a slight bow, Saiirin offering the same respect from where she stood at Karinda's feet. "Just to see you again has been more than I could have possibly wished for."

"You are most welcome." Jarion nodded, a smile spreading over his face. "I must say, you don't look half bad in modern clothing."

Karinda looked down at the dark red hoodie that hid a black t-shirt, the stiff fabric of the dark jeans hugging her legs strange on her skin. Even the shoes felt wrong. The straps of a backpack hung over her shoulders, her old clothes folded neatly inside. Only the sword and belt she held in her hand felt right. "Prithee," she said darkly, "do not remind me of my garments."

Jarion laughed. "It'll take some getting used to, I'm sure." He headed into the town with Karinda and Saiirin following close at his heels.

Saiirin lifted her feet higher than necessary, the feel of the cement uncomfortable on her paws. With an irritated growl, the small dragon jumped into the air, her wings lifting her to Karinda's shoulder where she shrunk to the height of a crow.

Karinda's wide gaze looked everywhere, the strange sights, sounds, and smells assaulting her senses. The wretched smell of exhaust made her stomach churn, the sight of the cars speeding past making her momentarily dizzy.

Finally, Jarion stopped at the bottom of a set of stairs guarded by stone lions. A large brick building sat at the stairs' head, the building looming over the two short ones flanking it.

"And this," Jarion said, gaining Karinda's attention once more, "is where I must leave you." He smiled reassuringly at the uncertainty clouding Karinda's eyes. "You always were one of our best warriors." He reached out and gently touched the silver marks adorning Karinda's face. "There is no doubt within me that you will adapt to this day and age with ease." He returned his hand to his side and looked to the doors blocking the entrance to the library. "The librarian should be waiting for you."

Offering Karinda and Saiirin a deep bow in farewell, he turned and trudged back down the way they had come on swift feet.

Taking a deep breath, Karinda entered the library.

As the thick door closed behind her, all sound disappeared, the silence of a holy place replacing the drone of sounds from the outside. The semi-familiar scent of pages granted her momentary calm, the smell reminding her of the days she had spent copying texts by way of quill and ink.

"You must be Karinda and Saiirin!" a cheerful voice said, breaking the spell of the library. A woman sat the armful of books she had been carrying onto a large desk before advancing upon the two. "It's quite the pleasure! It's been a while since I've had the honor of meeting a dragon such as you, Saiirin." The woman smiled, brandishing her white teeth.

"It seems thou hast grasped the advantage," Karinda said slowly, examining the tall woman. Her long, fine blond hair was pulled back in a ponytail, her bangs ending just above vibrant green eyes. "Thou knowest our names, yet yours is still a mystery to us."

The woman's brows furrowed. "It seems I've got my work cut out for me," she muttered. "No matter. I'm Vanessa. A half-elf. C'mon." She checked her watch before turning around with a gesture for her guests to follow. "Plushy should be out back any second, if he's not already there. He delivers our mail, and we're expecting a new shipment of books."

Casting the two a smile as they followed, she led them through the maze of books to a backroom. With their pace quick, they soon stopped at a large, open back door. A package nearly as large as Saiirin's full form sat in the doorway, wrapped in light brown paper. Standing behind it was a dragon, the likes of which neither Karinda nor Saiirin had ever seen before.

"Good afternoon, Plushy!" Vanessa said to the odd, red dragon. "We've got some newcomers today." She glanced back at Karinda.

Plushy? Saiirin hissed from her perch on Karinda's shoulder, her back arching cat-like. That is a shameful name for a dragon!

Show only kindness, Karinda thought to Saiirin, tapping the silver creature's snout.

I shall do as I will! Saiirin snapped at Karinda's finger, her sharp teeth missing the girl's skin by mere centimeters.

"Then may your will be to stand upon the floor," Karinda growled, forcing the spitting dragon to dismount her shoulder. Blocking the clear path between Saiirin and Plushy, Karinda looked to the red dragon. "'Tis a pleasure, I assure you, good dragon," she said with a bow.

((Edited. Added a backpack to Karinda's attire.))

Plushy like library mail, Vanessa always had bananas ready for him. He wondered if the newcomers ment no bananas. "Do you have banana for Plushy today?" he asked looking around the backroom, to see if he could spot his bananas. Plushy looked surprised at Karindra. "Why is she bowing?" he asked. Then still looking for his bananas, he had seen a small glow coming from behind the bowed lady "What is that glowing behind her?" he also asked.

((short time skip? im assuming saiirin is still glowing from the mushroom, you post didn't say she wasn't glowing... is that ok???))

((Yep, Saiirin is still glowing! Sorry, I forgot to add that little detail. She will be glowing for a day or two. Their time skip was a few hours. By the way, since Plushy is a dragon, he could probably hear most of Saiirin's words.))

Vanessa laughed at Plushy's question. "Of course! I could never forget your bananas." With a smile on her face, she went to where an antique dresser sat against the wall beside the door. She opened the top drawer and frowned. "Hmm. Looks like Carl forgot to pick up more when I sent him to the store. These are a little brown, but they'll have to do."

Bananas? Saiirin said to Karinda with disgust, earning her a gentle backward nudge from the girl's foot.

Vanessa pulled a bunch of browning bananas from the drawer and returned to Plushy as he asked his second question.

"She's not exactly from this time period," Vanessa replied as Karinda straightened. "She was taught to stand on more formality than what most use today, and bowing to a dragon was once customary."

At Plushy's final question, Saiirin snarled and stepped around Karinda before leaping toward Plushy.

With lightning speed, Karinda grabbed for Saiirin's midsection, instead grasping the dragon's tail. Saiirin snarled in surprise as her attack was brought to a sudden halt. Instinctively, she twisted and swiped her claws at the obstruction, tearing a couple holes into the left sleeve of Karinda's hoodie.

With a shout, Karinda released Saiirin. "Thou hath been naught but a nuisance since yesterday's sun slept!" she hissed, moving her right hand to cover the lightly bleeding scratches Saiirin had inflicted. "What demon hath infected you this morn?"

The small dragon backed away. I-I beg your forgiveness, the dragon said softly. I know not what has befallen me. Perhaps the moral hath affected me in more ways than we know?

Karinda turned her attention to Plushy. "I ask for your forgiveness. Saiirin has n'er been greatly friendly to other dragons, and the past day's events hath done naught to help either of our emotions."

Plushy ate the bananas. He understands some of the older times, and explains to Karinda why her dragon was acting up. "She is upset over the curse Plushy's parents have put on him, in the older times, to call a dragon "plushy" was a blasphemy. My name has driven me away from many dragons, i don't see why your's would be any differant, only dragons with riders linked to them ever get use to Plushy. And pulling a dragons tail is never a good idea, many a dragon have killed their own rider over their tail been pulled, only to die themselfs." That explained, Plushy tried talking to the dragon. Why are you glowing? He asked.

Karinda laughed at the thought of riding atop Saiirin. “Though I shall certainly be sure to store away your advice for the future, I fear that I am no dragon rider. Saiirin can stand at naught but two feet high. Were I to jump upon her back, her flight would be ended before it begun!” Her laughter fell to a simple smile as she continued. “’Tis not the name that makes the person, but the person who defines the name.”

“Plushy, the almighty and just friend of humans!” Vanessa chortled. “I think it’s nice!”

Saiirin hissed as Plushy spoke to her as only a dragon could, the words echoing in Karinda’s mind as they passed through Saiirin’s knowledge.

’Tis none of thy affair! The silver dragon snapped her jaws at Plushy.

“T’was a devoured glowing moral that hath granted the glow to her scales,” Karinda answered, moving her hand from her already healing wounds.

Tell him nothing! Saiirin snarled at Karinda. Because his words reached you through me doth not grant you the right to answer for me that which was spoken in the dragon tongue!

“As you will, great dragon,” Karinda gave in, offering a bow to make peace with Saiirin.

The silver dragon snorted in response as Vanessa began to pull the large box inside.

“Prithee, grant me the pleasure of lending my service,” Karinda said, moving to stand next to Vanessa. The librarian backed away as Karinda raised her hand with its palm toward the box, the skin smudged with the red of her blood. The package vibrated before rising a few inches into the air.

What hath caused thou to gain such a dishonorable name? Saiirin growled, her words directed at Plushy.

“Oh!” Vanessa exclaimed as the box moved across the floor. “Just set it down over there, if you would!” she gestured to an empty space beside the dresser.

With a nod, Karinda directed the large package to her desired location before letting it drop.

Willow had worked her way through most of the library now but had found very little of what she had actually been searching for. 'It seems it was another dead end" she mumbled, to herself more then anything as she continued to scout the shelves none the less, books flying behind her as she finished with each one, making a surprising amount of noise, not to mention mess.

(Once again sorry, its like 3am here but i needed to post at last, i guess you could hear her or something.))

Plushy heared the books flying in the library, "Vanessa, it sounds like someone is making a mess in there. You should go help them find what their looking for." Plushy said. Plushy had talked to the glowing dragon, But this is a problem, some glowing morals can be poisonous. I must ask you to answer Plushy's question frist, what did the glowing moral look like? He asked worried.
PostPosted: Fri Nov 30, 2012 11:00 pm

Karinda jumped as a great deal of noise arose from not far from the door through which Vanessa had lead her, her muscles tightening and arms reaching for her sword. In less than a second, she had her sword in hand, Saiirin's wings spreading in preparation to take flight.

“Whoa, whoa!”Vanessa shouted, waving at Karinda to gain her attention as Plushy spoke. “There’ll be none of that! Like Plushy just said, it’s probably just someone with little respect for the library looking for a book. I’m going to go see what they want. You’re welcome to come with, but you must leave your weapon and Saiirin should stay here just in case whoever it is isn’t from around here.” She went to the door, pausing to wait for Karinda to choose.

If need for me arises, Karinda thought to Saiirin, hesitate not to summon me.

Aye, and the same for you. Saiirin folded her wings as Karinda placed her sword on top of a pile of books covering a table.

Forcing the pack from her shoulders and setting it near her sword, Karinda followed Vanessa through the door.

Saiirin jumped and turned on Plushy as he spoke, her back arching. The healer said nothing of poisonous morals. Were they something to be feared, I trust he would have spoken of them.

Following the sounds of books falling to the ground, Vanessa led Karinda with expert feet.

“What in the world?” Vanessa exclaimed, catching sight of the woman and the mess she left in her wake. “I hope you plan on putting those back where you found them!”

Moving to the side of the librarian to better see what stood in front of her, Karinda’s jaw dropped, her face twisting in anger at the disrespect the woman had shown to the written works. “What hath these books done to make thee so bitter toward them?” She snapped. “Doth thou—”

“I’ll handle this, Karinda.” Vanessa interrupted, glancing to Karinda before returning her attention to the woman messing up her library. “What are you looking for? Maybe instead of tearing apart my entire library, I can help you find what you need.”
