Thus the use of the word "former". Though, all bastards have uses. Let the wicked be the thing the beauty flees, to find herself safe in the arms of a true lover. After all, without bad we'd lose all our grateful feelings towards good.
That aside, he probably is. I don't know anything about him, and he might act differently under different circumstances. Like if I was a woman, etc etc.
