Kaori kept a straight face through James’ healing, though the pain of it was worse than her actual wounds had felt, then listened to Ayame and Daichi, she nodded as Nova padded over to her and sat beside her, still managing to come up to her five feet,
"Yes Lady Kazekage, I'll work on my melee, and on working more closely with Nova." Nova rumbled happily and rubbed her head against Kaori’s shoulder. Ayame and Daichi had been more than right of course. Being more cat than human at times, Kaori had greater physical dexterity and strength than non-tamers, she needed to learn to use that to her advantage. And Nova would have been an incredible asset.

Yes, he was taller than her but that did not stop her from getting in his face, "You are acting just like your father. He has problems pulling his punches as well." She then took a deep breath and rubbed at her temples. Some days she wondered if she was more wolf than human and this showed her exactly how animalistic she was. She grumbled and looked at James giving him the you gonna say something look.

James listened to his kage and lovers words to the child that had been born of their dna, and found her a little to quick to anger, but he could have chalked it up easily to the stress of a new position and the wolf like side of her. James looked to the both of them.
"I agree with Ayame's assesments, and I can understand that sometimes the opponent is in your face before you can react or shift to a situation, It's going to be key for both of you that you practice getting in to where you need to be, and if your opponents shift that balance to their favor, then you have to be able to shift it back immediately to survive."
James gave his kage a slightly pointed look. "The best advice I can give both of you is that it's ok to feel during a fight, to have anger or fear flowing in you, or even joy. The key is that you can't let the feeling disrupt the chess match. You still have to stay one step ahead of the opponents even if the hard punch lands."
James made sure the last of the injuries were clear and then looked to both Kaori and Theodin. "No fight is ever perfect, and practice and hard work make the difference. I'm proud of both of you for that."

Kaori blushed slightly at the praise. She knew that James didn't hand out praise lightly, no Suna shinobi did, it felt almost paternal in a way, and that was something she hadn't been on the receiving end of since she was eight. She shook her head and bowed slightly,
"Thank you." She whispered as she thought about what James said seriously. Emotions on the field were her greatest asset, given her bloodline, but melee would be, should be, equal to that, and at close range her emotives would be even more potent and effective. She shared a look with Nova and smiled, showing her fangs that she normally kept hidden, not out of shame, but out of a need to have an ace up her proverbial sleeve. She would get better, and she would earn her place as a Suna Shinobi, and be one of the best, with Nova by her side.

"I have something I wish to speak with Lady Kazekage about. I'll be right back okay?" She told him before she ran her hands over Nova’s large furry head. Nova stood and followed Kaori out of the Academy.

Kohaku figured now was as good a time as any to start learning his clan techniques. The first one in the scroll listed it as a must know to control the rest of the techniques in the scroll. Kohaku pulled out a kunai for curiosity and placed it in front of him, giving him a metal target to focus on. He wasn't trying it yet but still reading up on how the clan manipulated the magnetic energy and to see if there were any risks that he should be aware of. So far though, it was looking safe. The Raigyo boy noted something, more of a foot note really, that told him it would be a waste of magnetic energy and chakra to manipulate structures. Kohaku frowned but nodded, seeing what the scroll was trying to describe and explain. Standing up, Kohaku looked at the kunai he had placed before him. In theory, Kohaku would be able to bring the kunai back to his hand with the chakra he expended to make magnetic energy. He took a breath and closed his eyes. [Jiba Soujuu [ Magnetic Manipulation ] 5/6]
Kohaku pushed chakra into the air and opened his eyes. He sensed a sort of energy in the air, one that could be manipulated. He moved that energy to the kunai and then pulled it back to his hand, pulling the kunai with it to his hand. An interesting end to an interesting spar. The sannin decided to go rejoin the others, and floated down on a cloud of iron sand. So ayame was the kazekage now? Fitting for a mother of a pack. He had always tested her leadership skills, and her growth during that frustration seemed to have paid off. Of course she also had James to help coordinate and maintain the ninja, but the future of sun a firmly rested on her shoulders.
San would play it cool and approach the hatake, a firm grin on his face looking more sinister due to his blindfolded eyes.
"Kage now? Let me guess...Bast wanted to make things explode again? I kept the desk pilled with paper work so she could never leave...cheater...passing on the job."
Ah, so the tamer and the spawn of James and the hatake were trying to grow in their skill. Like most ninja, they were focusing on the wrong ideas.
"Theodin, what's past is passed. If you focus on it, you will miss the now. And now is where the lessons are."
Looking back at the kage San had a single raised eyebrow behind his blindfold, grin never leaving his face.
"So how should the focus their efforts madam? Its one thing to tell them how to improve, its another to lead the way. The best teachers tell you where to look, without telling you what to see"

Kaori and Nova walked back into the academy and waved at Kohaku, even as she then looked for the clone of Ayame. She smiled when she saw that San was there, she hadn’t interacted with him much, but like all Suna Nin, she knew of him.

He read the scroll's details about this next technique. It should be relatively simple, were he good at ninjutsu. He found Taijutsu to be more natural however, and that's where his talent lied. Still, Kohaku knew the value of balancing his ninjutsu with his taijutsu and that balance was key. [Satetsu Soushi [ Iron Sand Creation ] 2/10]
Reading more, Kohaku found out that he had to churn chakra into the ground to make the earth grind up bits of metal and itself to make up the iron sand. It was a complex process that took a short time to do but would have to be done either before battle or with allies to distract the opponent. Kohaku smiled slightly but frowned. There was a slight problem with his thoughts. He remembered that the Kazekage told him that he was a Suna shinobi now and they were all allies. He really only knew Kaori and she introduced him to Knives and Theodin but that was mostly just waving and letting them talk. [Satetsu Soushi [ Iron Sand Creation ] 4/10]
The boy sighed, leaning back and thinking. He was a bit afraid to try this technique but it was necessary to move on and with time, the boy would get it. For now, he continued reading from the scroll to understand the risks. [Satetsu Soushi [ Iron Sand Creation ] 5/10]
Kohaku nodded as he read. Stay away from very hot fires, the intensity would cause the iron sand to lose its magnetic polarity and become useless. Keeping this in mind, the boy resumed his studies. [Satetsu Soushi [ Iron Sand Creation ] 6/10]
Just reading the varying degrees of conversions that the boy could made him slightly dizzy. For now, he'd stick with the small hill size and eventually, though he didn't think he would ever need that much iron sand, would work up to pingo sized. Kohaku stood up and looked at the ground. He was going to try to convert a small amount in the ground to iron sand and freely manipulate it with his magnetic manipulation. Kohaku took a deep breath and placed his hands on the ground. [Satetsu Soushi [ Iron Sand Creation ] 8/10]
The ground began flooding with his chakra, the chakra seeping deep into the ground. The ground began churning together, grinding the metal in the earth to a powder while the earth ground down to a sand, mixing the iron with the sand and making iron sand. Smiling with satisfaction, Kohaku dusted his hands off and began waving his hands about, sending magnetic energy at the iron sand and controlling it. He waved the particles of magnetic sand around a bit before playing with it. He made shapes, stars, spheres and pyramids mostly. Feeling like he had gotten the hang of it, Kohaku let the iron sand fall and stetched, yawning a bit. Theodin relaxed as Ayame backed off a little, then turned to leave the academy with daichi. When San advised him about not dwelling on the past, he nodded, "Yeah, I know, San, I just hate knowing that I almost killed a fellow suna-nin, even if dad could bring her back." After a minute or so, Theodin sighed, "I want to ask the kage about something, but I feel like we both need a little time to cool off, so I'll be at the tea shoppe if anyone needs me in the meantime." He then wandered out of the academy, headed for the tea shop. (EXIT)
