[[Cue: Lullaby Of A Deserted Hell aka: lighthearted music~]]

Louis stretched and felt several muscles pop as they stepped into the kitchen. He took a deep breath, allowing the strong mix of aromas to tickle his taste buds. He looked to Jenny and shrugged while smiling nervously, "I dunno, what do you suggest? I'll have whatever you're getting."

The time mage raised an eyebrow as Louis shrugged. Did nothing appeal to his appetite at all? Surely the smell of the aromatic coffee would've woken him up, or the sizzling bacon, or the freshly butter toast? "Oh really? So if I eat everything offered here, you would too?" Jenny replied slyly as she scanned the food choices before chuckling. "Not that I can, I think I'd get a full-on body cramp as soon as I entered the water."

She strolled over to the line and picked up two slices of bacon, followed by a birds nest styled toast and a cup of orange juice. "If anything else catches your fancy, you should try it, who knows, you may like it and what if they don't have it in Ivalice?" Jenny suggested as she started walking towards Sayrike. "Yum, breakfast smells so good."

Louis sighed and rubbed the back of his head. It seemed his cop out was called out. Jenny dragged another chuckle out of the Ivalician before he admitted defeat and made his way over to the bar filled from one end to the other with food. The strange creature operating the stove was an awkward thing... but judging by it's apron and chef's hat, he assumed it might have skills in the kitchen.

He looked up and down the display of morning delicacies. He started with the pancakes and slowly moved down to the sausages and scrambled eggs. Part of him started to wonder when a mission like this turned into a vacation bed and breakfast.

With a full plate and cup of orange juice he made his way to where Sayrike was sitting and plopped down across from her. His stomach made a deep grumble as he looked at the food, "Hehe, guess I was more hungry than I thought."

Easier said then done. Anthony could feel himself panic even more after Louis told him not to. He tried to focus on the emotion, but it was so foreign to him. He wasn't use to it.

The orb continued to twist and turn. He could feel his darkness grow more agitated with his hesitation.

"Control it," the knight urged himself. "Get a grip over it!"

His inability to control the orb and his urge to control it did exactly what needed to be done--fill him with rage. The young man grew more and more frustrated at the thought of failure and slowly grew more angry. It allowed him to focus more on the memories that filled him with rage, and as a result the orb began to calm down until it returned to its original state.

Anthony was relieved, but he didn't allow the taste of rage to leave his tongue like last time. He focused on the emotion and allowed the darkness to pour out. He grew confident and began to pass the orb from one hand to the other.

Though foreign to him, the freedom his rage gave him came naturally and he willingly accepted it.

Louis expected Anthony to fail. He was braced to impact and wholly anticipating an explosion of sorts. When the pressure subsided, Louis' muscles relaxed and he breathed comfortably again, "Very good... now... learn how to direct it. Let's see that emotion given a purpose." Louis produced a stone from a portal, about the size of a large baseball, "On my signal, I want you to focus that darkness on this rock. Give it whatever shape you desire... trust your instinct this time and the form most fitting for you will come naturally."

"Ready," Louis turned and threw the rock up and away from the balcony, "Now!"

Manipulating the darkness became easier by the second the more the young man allowed himself to be flooded by his feelings of rage.

He watched as Louis summoned a stone from a portal and listened as he gave his instructions, but all the time keeping the sphere of darkness in his palm in mind; constantly feeding it with his rage.

As soon as the arcanist hurled the stone, like a reflex, as if his body was possessed by the memory of skeet shooting with his father at the shotgun range, his arm shot up and the sphere of darkness launched in the direction of the stone; however, a thick thread of darkness remained latched at his palm, as if it were a lasso; as if it was a part of his being.

The bulk of the darkness at the tip began to contort until it took shape of a hand, deformed and misshapen, with long claw-like nails. Its fingers clenched down on the rock just as the knight clenched his hand. When he opened his hand again, so did the hand of darkness. The stone was no more.

The darkness retracted and disappeared into Anthony's palm as the dust from the stone was whisked away into the ocean by the wind.

"Damn, that orange juice looks good. At least, I think it's orange juice?" She smiled upon hearing Louis' stomach protest at its emptiness. After seeing Jenny and Louis bring back food, her appetite increased a little, though it'd be another 5 or 10 minutes before she thought she could stomach anything. "Did you guys see any tea up there? I could really use some of that right about now." In between bites of toast (This could really use some nutella), Sayrike asked, "So, you guys think you're ready for today? Seems kinda nice to actually have a heads up about things this time instead of being randomly ambushed. I hope to goodness that magic-negator thing doesn't make an encore appearance."

Louis could no longer hide the smirk taunting the tip of his lip, "Impressive, you've grasped the fundamentals of darkness so quickly... and without fear..." Louis suffered a minor flashback for a split second of his first day in this world and his naive reluctance to interact with the darkness, "As it stands, this is all I can teach you tonight. You know now the core and shape of your own darkness, rage, and can harness it safely. Given time, you will learn to feel the darkness in others and with practice, learn how to tell one presence apart from another by their unique essence."

Louis smiled and waved him off, "For now, head to bed. Who knows how difficult tomorrow's battle will be... you will need sleep to be at your best. If you can find me after its all over, we can continue our lessons then."

Anthony seemed as if he were about to collapse as the connection between his heart and his rage was severed once Louis dismissed him. The effects of the unfamiliar nature were evident in his physique--his shoulders more slouched than usual--and his heavy breathing.

Nevertheless, he felt proud, as any student would after being praised by their teacher.

"Thank you, Louis," the knight finally said. "I definitely could use some sleep. Where can I find you tomorrow if--I mean, when I want to continue my training?"

Louis nodded, "I'll be around. We'll find each other one way or another when it's all over. As for me, I had a... nap earlier. I feel like staying up a bit longer... you know, watch the ocean, think about things... relax. See you tomorrow. Sleep well!"

Louis turned back to the moonlit sea with a wave goodbye and sat down on the ledge once more, I still have so much to do...

[[Cue: Pendulum from Shiki]]

"Yes, run yourself dry and drop dead," A sweet, poisonous voice whispered in Louis' ear. The shaded figure of a woman leaned in from the edge of the arcanist' vision. He did not turn to look, he simply stared at the sea and ignored it, "Save me Louis~ Rescue me from this torment."

"I'm trying..." he responded in thought, his face twitching ever-so-slightly as her breath brushed against his neck. Her pitch black eyes, just barely visible were like endless pools, deep and menacing, as though staring too long would devour ones vision entirely, "Everything is going acording to plan."

"Is it?" her voice was like a knife gliding through silk, "What have you accomplished?"

"I've learned allot. I've gotten to know the others. Gained their trust. Protected them from harm... saved them from pain," Louis could feel the glyph on the back of his head burn as he thought of it, but let it go as he pictured Dawn writhing on the deck, "I've sacrficed so much to get here... but my goals havn't changed."

"Was it worth it? Where has it gotten you? How much closer are you to your goal? Our goal?" The woman draped herself on his arm, her fingernails dragging across his oposite shoulder as she put more of her weight onto him.

"I-" Louis' confidence faltered, "I don't know."

"You don't know?" another voice, male this time though the seductive tone did not change aproached from the right as the girl slid down Louis arm all the way to his lap where she put the back of her head down and stared up into Louis' eyes, "Then perhaps you need to speed things along?"

"I need to take my time. If I'm not careful, my facade could slip, or their trust in me could falter," Louis could feel his heart quicken a beat as the man's touch contacted both shoulders, "I can't risk failure."

"You're already failing," they repeated one another as the male put his wieght against Louis' back and sank down to his level, hanging his arms over Louis' shoulders, "They're still suffering. We all are. You can feel it... you see it in their eyes, hear it in their voices..."

"But... there's nothing I can do," Louis replied with geniune remorse, his eyes growing heavy and clouded, his expression empty, "I'm doing all I can."

"We know that's not true," the man laid his chin on Louis' shoulder as his arms crept down and crossed each other over his chest, before his fingers drove into each gap between his ribs, "Action must be taken... thier suffering demands it."

The woman moved again, drawing herself back up as she wrapped her arms around Louis' waist and dug her claws in Louis' back as anchors, "Save us..." her face drew closer, as the man tightened his grip. Their bodies pressing against his was choking. Their weight threatened to crush his bones, "Free us..." both sets of eyes showed tints of red where the iris should have been, "The key lies within... take hold of your legacy... overturn the wheel of fate... take hold... and command your own future."

Their eyes were all he could see now, voids dotted in the center by crimson, all the while pain grew over his chest, "Kill us." was all he heard echoing back and forth over and over. A sharp p***k and a tiny shimmer of light brought Louis back, scattering shadows and phantoms back to their respective corners of his mind. He looked down and found the glass rose in his palm and to the side a pair of neo-shadows, looming, watching, and waiting for something.

Louis released the rose and it vanished in a flash as he held out his hand to the heartless. They hesitantly and carefully plodded over to him into their usual, quadropedal fasion, "Overturn the wheel of fate..." he pondered, placing his hand on the head of the first heartless that reached him. He pet the semi-tengible creature and offered it refuge in his lap while the other climbed onto his back and got comfortable, "There isn't much time left... not for them... not for me. It must end soon... but how?"

Louis' peculiar response did not go unnoticed, but Anthony knew when someone wanted to be left alone. Reluctantly, he waved goodbye to his teacher and left the balcony. He made his way to the sleeping quarters for a much deserved rest.

[Jenny :: Shipwreck Cove :: Dining Area/Kitchens]

Jenny craned backwards, throwing her head over the backrest of the chair as she tried to look back at the drinks. She recalled seeing tea packets and a kettle of hot water, but now that someone asked, she doubted herself. Too bad seeing things is a little hard when the world is flipped upside down. "Hmm, I think I remember seeing some tea packets up there, not sure what kinds though..." she responded finally, turning back to face the others.

Nibbling on her bacon, she thought about the upcoming battle and taking into consideration what Sayrike said, she shuddered. "I sure hope not, that would render me completely useless." If the bad guys had a weapon like that, they could easily take out all of them. Jenny sighed, trying to stop her mind from imaging horrible scenarios. "Kyle is down there, I'm sure he'll let us know all the details and hopefully... I can just bombard the living snot out of them." She added the last bit with a hint of uncertainty.

As the conversation continued around them, Bobbi glanced over at Sayrike, hoping to catch the other girl's eye. Hard to do when the other girl was wearing a mask.

:Sorry to space your question,: the Archer said in private mode via her charm, her tone rueful as she suppressed a grimace. :So much crap going on and info to keep up with. Yeah, I don't mind you learning Ice Spirit. Do you learn the same way Matt does, or differently?:

As she asked that question, Bobbi chuckled a little, and let the sound carry over the charms to Sayrike as well.

:Fair warning, though, you'll be Victim Numbah 2 for learning this thing. Matt already has it.:

Bobbi was a genius! She could have kissed her if it wasn't too awkward.
“I think you have something there!” she blurted out flipping back to her pages filled with prep-work for the battle. “ Originally I don’t think I could manifest anything even remotely elemental but perhaps your spell can help me after all.”

“I have no problem isolating the nature of the spell- as long as I have a pictorial path for the magic to follow, then I can make sure only the wall takes the benefits from your alignment Bobbi. What do you think?”

Kyla wanted to utilize every aspect of Noelle and Prote's advice when engaging the enemy this time. Those Geists frightened her, her memories were all she had- an artists mind, aside form their hands, was the most precious tool they had.
To loose everything, to be robbed of what mattered most-

No

Her mind refused to go there.

Sayrike replied back to Bobbi over the charms. She saw the other girl's visual cues easily enough. The masked mage jerked her head back slightly, motioning for them to set themselves aside from the rest of the group. Replying to Bobbi's question, Sayrike answered, <> Kyla was also joining them, making use of Bobbi's offer.

Sayrike :: Shipwreck Cove :: Dining Area/Kitchens

"Hmm...let me grab some tea, then." Sayrike nimbly hopped up, got a cup of something aromatic, and plopped back down. Stirring the tea absentmindedly, she broke the short silence and wondered aloud, "...do you ever feel sorry for the Heartless? And the Nobodies" It was a bit of a weird question, asked out of the blue. But Sayrike's mind had been a bit bored of late, and it was something she was mulling over. "I mean, when we...listen to the fables," and here she glanced at Louis, "the Heartless are just these obstacles to overcome. But they're still...people, you know? Or they were at some point. Are we killing them, in a way?"
