Ever's eyes widened and she looked back and forth between her friend and her apparent familiar. She then blushed slightly and looked abashedly at the cat. "Umm, oh. I'm sorry.... Familiar?" She didn't really know what to call it.

Ever then gasped as she remembered what else her friend had said. So many things were happening all at once! Seriously, was this all a wacky dream Ever was having?

She gently grabbed her friend by her shoulders and made her look her in the eyes. "Akira, what did you just say a second ago? Did you say Ares? Akira, what all did you hear just now?!"

Then, before Akira could even respond, Ever shook her head and put her hand over Akira's mouth. "Shhh! Not here! Ares is still probably snooping around and will hear you, and he doesn't need to know how much you know. He'll use it against you! They all do."

Ever had no idea how nutty she was sounding right now, but now that she knew Gods, well, at least Ares, could come to her school anytime they wanted without setting off any kind of intruder alarms, Ever did not feel comfortable. She was worried.

Ever nodded to her friend and removed her hand. And then she looked down at her leg with wide eyes as she felt something rubbing against it. Surprisingly it was Akira's familiar. It was a friendly thing, which was good since Akira and Ever were best friends and would be around each other a lot.

She reached down and carefully pet the cat. "Well hello... Akira's Familiar. Sorry. I don't know your name."

Ever then looked at her friend and nodded for her to continue to walk. When they were out of the forest again and more near the class once more, but still a distance away from the rest of the class, who were still in the fence with the magical creatures, Ever looked at Akira.

"Ok, so what all did you hear earlier, Akira?"

Ever's eyes were patient as she listened to her friend babble slightly, trying to put off saying exactly what she had heard. She recognized this behavior from her friend very well. Ever did it herself at times, and Akira relied on it heavily. It was really funny when she did it with other people. She'd distract and confuse them enough that after awhile, the person asking Akira a question would forget what the original question had been.

But not Ever, not this time. She knew what Akira was doing and armed herself against it. She remained focused on her question.

"What exactly is 'everything', Akira?"

She crossed her arms across her chest and waited for her best friend to respond.

Ever's eyes widened and she once again took ahold of Akira's shoulders. "No, Akira! Don't you EVER attack him! That is Ares, the God of War, and even though you're a demon and not, technically, a mortal, he will destroy you in seconds. Don't worry. He won't attack me. It would anger his father too much, and no one wants to make Zeus angry. Besides, I can hold my own with him, verbally. It's nothing new. I've heard it all before."

Ever then dropped her hands and laughed softly. "Though, you are right on the mark when you call him a freak. I'm glad you could see that, too, and didn't fall for his charms, even if they weren't directed toward you. You have to be careful around him, Akira. Don't talk about him anymore, to anyone. Even him hearing his name spoken can draw him out. I'm sure he's back up on Olympus now, and won't come back here just by me saying his name. He likes to have the upper hand and wants to show me that he's in charge."

She rolled her eyes at this and shook her head with a smirk on her face. "Let's just pretend this all never happened. We'll go back to class, I'll avoid the horses, you can yell at them again if they get out of hand, and we'll have fun at that class again! Besides, it could almost be over right now, and we don't want to miss anymore!"

She wrapped her arm loosely around Akira and began walking back toward the fenced area. "And Akira, thanks. Thanks for being my friend and wanting to protect me."

She laughed softly. "And thanks for yelling at those horses for me. I would have paid anything to see that. Oh, and about... that guy... and what you said about wanting to help that thing in the lake grow, I don't think that's the case. He just wasn't afraid of them, but I don't think he actually wants to help them. He isn't in the business of helping."

They had finally reached the fence and Ever began to feel her confidence waning again. She took a deep breath and tried to steel herself.

Ever smiled and hugged her best friend tightly from the side. "I love that you're so protective of me. And of course I'd do the same for you! That feline would have been ash if you hadn't stopped me."

She giggled and reached over to pet the cat's back softly so that it knew Ever was, somewhat, joking.

Then, Ever frowned as she thought about telling their Headmistress. "I don't know about that. She has so much stuff to deal with already, and I know she can handle so much, but maybe she wants us to be able to handle this on our own? I mean, we're trying to learn how to handle ourselves here at Bai Ching. Maybe this is something we'll have to do on our own? Of course, maybe I'm wrong and Headmistress Krause would be upset if we DIDN'T tell her about this and seek her help."

Ever sighed and smiled once again. She shook her head of the current thoughts and looked at the fence. "Eh, let's just focus on this class right now. I still haven't found a familiar for myself yet! Let's look at more of the creatures!"

Ever smiled more brightly at her best friend and cautiously walked into the fenced area. When the horses looked at her, especially Phobos with a glare in his eye, Ever straightened up, rose her chin in the air, and confidentially walked past them toward the other creatures. It was much easier to not be scared by them with Akira behind her.
