Cold, hard reality answer:

You don't need a rule to tell people that they can't kill your character. You just need to be willing to say "I'm not getting involved" or "I don't want it to happen, so I'm not going to". You'll just lose face if you end up making up something to save your skin when you've agreed to a character interaction. If you know who you're dealing with beforehand, you should know what to expect from them.

Pain and suffering bring movement. People cannot 'rise above' and 'overcome' unless they have something causing them to suffer. People cannot perform acts of heroism unless there is a villain. And a villain is just a comic punk b***h unless he actually takes the initiative to perform acts of cruelty and malice upon people and take the initiative. You don't put your nemesis in a slow moving dipping device with one inept guard if you want him gone, you stab him and twist the knife until he can't bleed any more.

There are romance RPs, adventure RPs, and conflict RPs. Some people RP romance here. Some people RP adventure (as shown by the various 'quests' going on where someone is GMing for others; ex. Maximos, Ryugi, Vahn). But a majority of the people here RP conflict.

And conflict isn't always sunshine and puppy dogs.

I never agreed to ANY conflicts. I just come here to RP something and people FORCE their characters fights upon me. I'm actually kinda shocked that when Sunray and I were RPing, now one came in and started s**t with Tenkyl or something...

Oh, I understood that part completely.

But it just looks off, when suddenly divine intervention puts a stop to everything and it's not due to someone going severely out of line like when someone goes into a thread in Commerce and says "lol, I blow this place up".

Scientific Explenation: when something gets really really cold really really fast it tends to break, I'm too lazy to explain the mechanics of it but I'm sure you understand what I'm talking about, being a fairly intelligent person yourself.

You referred to the exchange between Siat and Alex as a fight.

If you'd have completely avoided it, nobody would argue with things like "I'm leaving" or "but Security comes to restrain Siat". But when you agree to an interaction with someone, you're agreeing to a lot of things. When you agree to hostility between people, you're agreeing to the potential for an assault and battery.
