Tresondros Ecstuffuan Yeah people tell me all the time Tres's abilities can be abused. They know something I don't because I have no idea on how exactly you would do it.
Brace [Psychometabolism]
[Immediate - 2 points]
This ability allows Tres to briefly charge his body with psychic energy while visualizing a mountain to literally anchor himself to a surface. This technique often helps Tres to defend against a sudden force threatening to knock him prone. However, this technique if misused can actually increase the amount of damage Tres takes from an attack by preventing Tres from rolling with the blow. To use this technique Tres quickly assumes a stance with a low center of gravity. After using this technique and until he changes his position he becomes nearly immovable like the mountain he visualizes preventing him from being knocked on the ground. Despite making himself immovable he does not prevent himself from being damaged in any way.
Brace is very much like the Monk ability Unmoveable Mountain. You really have a thousand usages for it. s**t you could theoretically stop Deitric Freight Train Bull Rush in it's tracks if used properly. It was originally designed just for stopping such attacks I believe. But yeah.....

Legion_of_Nazareth Ah you are potentially looking at the wrong form of morphic materials. I was thinking about liquid metals at room temprature that react to an electric current by taking a solid physical shape. Astral or ectoplasmic material is super sensitive to psionic power. In theory if he had to manipulate it in the way you are suggesting, then yeah you are right it would take a ton of energy. But some materials are more receptive than others especially with regards to the energy needed to make them do something like changing shape. You really got to give me something more than that to work with. The only metal at room temperature is Mercury and electricity does jack s**t to it to make it a solid.

Muscle fiber is one thing. Edit: that's not metal and is totally irrelevant to this conversation. Did Metal Gear Solid 2 make up that metal that Metal Gear Ray used where when they ran electric current through it, the metal contracted. I thought that was a really cool idea and a great explanation as to why metal gear ray moved like it did.

I mean logically the spell/ability is ******** useless for the purpose it was designed to counter. But it was meant originally for monks to block against constant Bull Rushes by Barbarians.

From what I understand about what they are trying to do, they are trying to create a compound which is metallic, and fluid, and reacts to electricity by forming a structural matrix. I've vaguely heard something about what your talking about. I think they might have done a TED talk on it a while ********, I wish I could remember. If you find it, toss it my way. I remember reading the article.... s**t was it like 3-4 years ago?
