Haruhi, it's because Brigand is a proud member of his faction...I don't really have a better way to put it, he morally thinks it is wrong to fight for practice with those from other places because they could learn secrets.

Unless I feel merciful, and then his safeguard of. "You've done well in defending yourself, you may live" comes into play. xd
