I adore you Vintrict, but I have to completely and utterly disagree with you on this one. Yes, you can't really block in any fashion with a rapier so yes.... in that respect is' pretty ********' bad.

But the whole idea of rapier-work is to deflect, deflect, deflect and go in for a single debilitating wound.

At least how I've always used it in an RP fight.

No... you never want to use a rapier against a broadsword, maul, flail, or anything that resembles such. mainly because your looking at a broken hilt the first time you try to block as you would with most any other sword.

But a spear??? And a short spear at ********, that's almost perfect for rapier work. You'd only be able to really use the lower third of the blade normally for deflection purposes (But Tres character made the rapier out of crystal probably (I'd have to go back and read) so it'd actually be more like a cutlass in anycase.) Crystal doesn't bend enough to be a true rapier so THAT would be the main issue I'd bring up.

If Tres would have used it in any blocking move instead of deflecting, if the weapon hadn't shattered instantly, I'd been on your case about it. But from what I can remember, you didn't block any of KB's attacks with it like that.

I can't be sure because it's all locked down currently. If anyone has the fight saved, I'd adore to see it again.

Because Vintrict Clearly made up some s**t that Tres didn't do and docked him points for it. Nevermind the fact that he docked me for an approved ability.

Vintrict I'm sure only skimmed the fight at best. That is the only thing that can explain why him and sokoya had pretty much completely different decisions.

SCANDAL IN THE GTB!

Don't know what happened, but I can smell the scandal.

Name one year where there hasn't been?

This place grows on scandal. It like lives in the stuff like some sort of slime/mold that eats away at the sanity in your feet.

It's not really pride. It's really "I can't tell you what makes for a 3." I could try a criteria later on, but Molestia people are still going to whine about it. I sometimes mix roleplay with logic, too, and that shares some traits with the Tactic category, so there's that, too. If someone does something stupid, it counts against their roleplay score, too. That's probably the only thing that could be quantified, but the majority of what scores roleplay is subjective.

Roleplaying

Score of 0 - Roleplaying was nonexistent, posts only showed basic fundamental of the fight itself and only listed the moves as they were being performed. Nothing was done to dress up the post and the character's spirit and drive was nowhere to be found from an outsider's view in. The character ignores or outright avoids acknowledging damage dealt to the character and fatigue that is triggered off of abilities or powers.

Score of 1 - The character is given a basic personality that is reflected in reactions to damage and changes in the fight's flow. The posts only reflect on the fight itself in a manner in which only core information is being given. Wounds and hampering effects on the character are poorly reflected in the status of the character during the combat which leads to situations where for example, missing a nose for most of the fight is shrugged off as a flesh wound. Abilities and powers present on the character sheet are grossly overstated or used, negative effects in reaction to abilities used are played down past what is listed in the profile.

Score of 2 - The character does a good job in selling their actions, using a good mix of non-combat and combat material to deliver the picture the character has of the current situation from their point of view. Powers and moves are well written and allow for the opponent to reasonably reply without having to worry about misunderstandings that could result in a shutdown of posting. Damage is being reflected in a style that is believable, yet can be over exaggerated or under emphasized when taking into consideration long term effects from the injuries. The character is true to their character sheet and reflects all positive and negative effects as stated.

Score of 3 - Each post allows both the spectator and the judge to examine how the character is doing on all fronts of the combat. Physical status and prowess is shown clearly, taking into effect all wounds, fatigue, and positive buffs the character is currently handing behind the scenes. Mental condition is also present as the character's thoughts and drive is shown clearly for anyone to see, allowing the on-looker to have a sense of immersion and the ability to guess when a character will either break or press forward. Combat related portions of the fight are clearly written and take into effect the opponent's actions, as well as the field situation and the position of the character's own weapons. The character sheet is followed to a T and the character's listed abilities are fully represented without error.

~~~~~~
Quick, dirty, and full of holes I am sure but it took me like 15 minutes tops.
Also I am terrible with words, ******** the haters.
....
I like you. Can I steal you away from your wife and like...pick your brain for days?
*nods slowly*
I'm almost positive she won't mind.
Like it was said before, rapier work is.... highly ******** specialized. I think it was one of the female persuasion who told you as such.
And I don't see how psionic crystals would have the flexibility you would need to make a rapier. From what I can remember from floating through your fights, it's a pretty ******** ridged material. Especially if your using it as an armor in certain cases.
An Estoc yes, any sort of cutlass easily enough. Sabers, scimatars, shortswords, broadswords, katanas etc etc etc... all those could be done. I'm not sure exactly how your abiliies work (which is something I'm going to have to fix soon) but from what I can picture in my head, your blades are good for somewhat dull edges. Enough to cut but not cleanly. You would probably be more comfortable with say a hand-and-a-half sword or a nodachi.
More for breaking bones and smashing faces that methodical work just because making a sharp enough edge on a larger blade other than a dagger would be...difficult.
That is, if your using anything beyond a dagger.
Tres comes off as a character who likes to get in close, see some blood on his knuckles. And is arrogant enough to think he can always get away with that.
I'd like to see how much of the psionic crystals he'd have in his body at one time to create weapons... at least a mass & weight limit.
GTB II had no scandal.
GTB III had some because of slow-downs between rounds.
GTB IV had a ******** of it for a variety of reasons.
GTB V had enough that it didn't even get started on its first attempt and had to run as a phantom of its usual self when it finally happened.
So.. II was really the only year where nothing went wrong. III too, if you don't include slow-downs on grading as being scandalous.
So....your saying that this year we should expect the GTB to implode on itself in a spite-filled rage of Godlike size, creating some superbeast of butt-hurtz that will rampage through our version of virtual Tokyo until it is brought down in the pure fires of an Admin ban because people bitched so much that the guild actually evolved into a sentient troll filled with lulz?
Cause how that scale went from zero to OMFG over the years kinda just blew my mind.
Not that I mind, truth be told. I don't have a dime in the tourney.... just like commentary.
And to hear myself type.
It depends on how badly Vin ******** anything up, and how people react to it. Reactions were progressively worse because they were reacting to progressively worse circumstances, decisions, etc. It also depends on the people, though. Some people are more likely to speak up than others.
