not whiny. he was pissy. there is a difference. first it was 'shin-ra made me in an experiment!?' thusly, shin-ra was dealt with. then, he thought he was the only Ancient left..that he was Jenova's son...and as such, humanity, who had reduced Jehovah to that test tube state..needed to go away.
in the movie, the three Sephiroth wanna-bes were kinda whiny. but when Seph made his appearance, it was just, I'm going to kick your a**, and turn this planet into my personal spacecraft so I can travel the universe like mom did and find a new world, a new place. as for the planet he was on..well..sucks for them.
