Jedi Sasquatch LabTech Kestin I don't like any Thanksgiving food gonk Plus, the "vacation" is the only one all year that I'd rather be in school for. It's the same damn thing, every year. Being woken up early to go from the hotel to my grandparents' place, being brought back to the hotel late at night, being yelled at for sleeping on their couch the rest of the morning, being yelled at for not spending every waking moment with people who bore and irritate me and for wanting to be alone at least some of the time...and of course, the hassles of airport stuff and the panic induced by the security checkpoint. [/rant] Heh, yeah, I know what you mean. Whenever my friends ask what I'm doing for Thanksgiving and I say that I'm just chilling at my house with my brothers and my mom, they're always like "But why aren't you visiting your relatives and blah blah blah?" And all I say back is "Why would I want to do that?"
I'm getting left behind this year while the rest of my family visits with relatives in Kentucky. I was perfectly happy with this, but my mom feels guilty about it, so she's forcing my aunt and uncle to have me over to their house for dinner. I feel horrible because I'm pretty sure they weren't planning on cooking until she forced them to invite me over D=

My american friend is just using thanksgiving as an excuse to get the day off university. He's not even that bothered about the holiday itself!

•○♣☼♣○• Shori: I’m guessing that those people whom you talked to didn’t know what to say and how to reply (often that’s an issue here within the secrets thread as well) so they latched onto something they could relate to, aka the joke. Perhaps this wasn’t the most helpful but to help them understand just how much it hurt you it might be an idea to tell them. That way next time if you talk to them they hopefully wont react in the same way.
---o0o---
Kam: I’m so glad you didn’t die. Please be careful, I know you’re Mr Superman but even the real Superman had a mild mannered alter ego and wasn’t able to be the hero all the time. Basically I’m saying take care of yourself and, if for some reason you do kill yourself I’m going to storm over there and throttle the living daylights out of you. Blowing out candles via farting... oh my darling I despair about you sometimes XD Oh your poor friend, that must have been a blow to his lady hunting lol Duct tape won’t work with teacups, you need special glue or (if the crack is a hairline fracture) clear nail varnish might do the trick.
---o0o---
Soul: If the reason the magical elephants sneak into your room at night and practice dancing keeps you from suicide it’s not silly. If the pink elephants are what keep you hanging onto life then... bring on the pink elephants! Basically if your reasoning makes sense to you and stops you from killing yourself then it’s not stupid.
---o0o---
Kes: It’s ok, I like bulldozers <3
---o0o---
Sushi: Someone sang me to sleep and the joke was that I used to go to sleep as a form of self defence XD So hire a bad singer to make you flee into slumber? XD
---o0o---
Tasn: I know what you mean. I have this thing where I generally finish what I started. I’ve read some shocking novels and I’ve found three that I just couldn’t finish because it was so bad.
---o0o---
Soar: I understand how you feel, personally I don’t think I’d do it either but the wording made it sound like you were attacking people.
---o0o---
Fortune: I know the way Soar said it wasn’t the best but I kind of agree. If you wish to have special alone time with Alex that’s your business. I know it wasn’t your intention to elaborate upon the post you originally made but it happened and I don’t feel it was appropriate for the guild setting, yes I know it’s the secrets thread but some things like sex lives are private. There are people here who are not as old as you and it’s not right that they should be exposed to things of a similar nature in the guild. Heck, we are like a family and it’s like hearing about my aunty and uncle (or worse, my PARENTS) having sex.
Tl;dr Perhaps refrain from posting things like that and replies to certain posts sent via PM.
What did you think of HP?!
---o0o---
Epic: I’ve got a set of normal speakers and a connection that is able to plug into my ipod and computer. If you have the speakers figure out what plugs you need and they should have them somewhere, it’s heaps cheaper than getting a special system. Cho beat me to it XD
---o0o---
Foam: I know a selection of secrets that have been shared here are quite personal but there are different levels of ‘personal’.
---o0o---
Keito: It’s nice you have found someone who you like for their personality ^^ The reason that guy probably said that is because he has no personal experience with homosexuals. Often people who haven’t had the chance to meet and actually see what people are like often react with broad negative statements. Take racism for example, it’s not like people are different because of their skin colour. Yet because people haven’t taken the time to get to know and understand this fact and are rejecting it, racism exists.
---o0o---
Mizu: Hope everything goes well <3
---o0o---
Calling S and Nim: I don’t think we will ever be able to understand guys XD
---o0o---
Calling S: Well I hope that the problem resolves it’s self, it sounds horrible D: *hugs* As for your friend, think about what it would look like to you if she suddenly found someone she really liked. She is probably worried that you will fall head over heels in love and have your heart smashed by him. Worrying and trying to look out for you is a friends job, sometimes they don’t get it right and despite what they say you should do something. However if someone you know and respect flashes a warning flag it’s an idea to pause and think about things a little. He did? Awwww <3
---o0o---
Nim: <3 It sucks when plans don’t work out. All the best for college admissions!
---o0o---
Jiko: I hope you managed to find some people so you weren’t scared <3
---o0o---
Jedi: I listen to songs that suit my mood. Sometimes I find that when listening to sad/depressive music a bunch it makes me feel worse than when I started listening. I’ve got a bunch of ‘happy’ songs that make me smile even if I’ve been really down. It might be an idea to use music to help you avoid being so dispirited and depressed. I can suggest some songs if you want.
---o0o---
Cho: *claps* well done : D
---o0o---
Haze: <3
---o0o---
King: Confusion is universal???
---o0o---
Cleo: Racism leaves such an ugly taste. Often humanity can make me so disheartened.
---o0o---
Peo: lol, well you guys get the day off for the royal wedding next year don’t you XD

@Miss P: I didn't go into any detail. All I said was that my clothes were off. I doubt there's a single person in this guild (or on Gaia) who doesn't realize that taking off your clothes is part of sex, so I wasn't corrupting anyone or anything.
People make rape jokes and s**t all the time, but I get called out for saying "take off my clothes" and "do stuff?!?!?!?" XD

I understand why a lot of people hate Thanksgiving gatherings and this isn't aimed to piss anyone off, but it's just my opinion. I apologise in advance if I upset anyone because I know it will and I'll be damned if I compromise what I say next by trying to be placating to everyone.
Yeah, it's annoying to be dragged off the family gatherings are certain times of the year, especially if you're busy or feel like you want to be alone. However, if growing up has taught me anything, it is that life is ephemeral. How many more times do you think you'll actually be able to see a person? Especially one that you rarely see as it is? You may not care initially, but one day, it is possible that you might regret not seeing them that one holiday or getting up a little earlier over break to have lunch with them and others because they won't be around anymore. Permanently.
I'm not trying to attach doomsday to holidays, but to make it sound like a holiday is forcing you to be there like some useless, worthless chore is 1) disrespectful and 2) selfish, especially if it is a tradition or something that has been planned far in advance.
After all, there are people during such times that usually want to see you because they rarely do otherwise either because of their situation or yours. It's not like you are being forced to see some of these people on a daily basis. Be grateful you see or even know some of them.
Now to be more personal about this, I'd give anything to be financially solvent enough to take the next plane back home for Thanksgiving. Likewise for any of the many birthdays I am missing not because of the cake or food, but because I want to see these people and I want to be part of a celebration that happens annually. I normally hate people and seeing people, but if these are people I care about, I'll willingly sacrifice my comfort in solitude just to see them and see them happy, if even just for a few hours in a day.
But that's just me. Living away from home and being largely independent with a small, small income and other reasons for rare commutes back home does make one look at things differently and value certain moments more.
I'm sorry for the rant, but I hate seeing people b***h and moan about being put upon to see people they normally don't see for a day or two a year. I hear enough of it from my cousins and other friends and it pisses me off just as much, if not more because I know them better.

Just to clarify, in case you meant me: I love my family and would much rather go to Kentucky with them, but I have to work. The reason I don't want to go to my aunt and uncle's house is because my cousins were both going to spend Thanksgiving with their boyfriends and I don't think my aunt and uncle were planning to have a dinner. But now one of my cousins is going to stay home, and my aunt and uncle have to cook a big dinner. I don't like that my mom basically forced them to cook a whole dinner just so that I could go. It makes me feel guilty >.<

@ Perfy, yes it's a national holiday but my university tends to ignore national holidays so I will still be in learning. Unlike the sods at the other city university who get every single bloody public holiday off. They are hardly in class! (I should know, my bf is one of them XD)
Not to mention I think it might be during the easter holidays anyway so a lot of people get time off XD
I'm not interested in it in the slightest to be quite honest. I much prefer the younger brother (william?) to the elder (harry?). Although, the royal family seems more hassle than it's worth on pretty much every occassion they are brought up.
Bunch of tax dodgers in my opinion (yes that's right, the riches people in the whole of the UK don't have to pay tax on anything.... ever)

I meant no one in particular. It's just I've been hearing a lot of people whine about gathering for Thanksgiving. I understand your case and it was definitely not aimed at you, LMF.

WARNING there may be some language people find offensive. Just saying
I official want to stab my sister repeatedly.
She got pissy that I was going to see my bf (OMG it's been snowing! You can't go out.) And so instead of you know, letting me leave because I'd decided I was going, what does she do? Oh she only goes and tells our ******** parents, because you know, that's not a childish pathetic thing to do at all. Who promptly decide I am stuck in this s**t hole of a house because OMG there is ice. Well what the ******** does that have to do with anything?
Clearly they all want me dead. They won't let me go out and drive in the ******** snow and ice when there is ******** nobody on the god damn road, but morning rush hour. Oh yeh, that' s ******** sensible isn't it?! Stupid cunts... seriously. Stupid ******** cunts.

Unfortunately I agree, guys are just too difficult to understand. I just wish I could understand them well enough to ask one of them out. (a specific one, not just any one XD) Miss Perfection ---o0o--- Jiko: I hope you managed to find some people so you weren’t scared <3 ---o0o--- •○♣☼♣○•
I was <3 I ended up playing a bunch of word games with the guy I like and his dorm mates. It was fun 3nodding Though the storm turned out to not be as bad as I thought it would be, which is both good and bad. Good because bad storm are scary, bad because that means my class today wasn't canceled. I really wanted it to be canceled...

Unlike the sods at the other city university who get every single bloody public holiday off. They are hardly in class! (I should know, my bf is one of them XD) My college is like that too. We only get off for Thanksgiving (because the quarter ends the week before it anyway, so even if there was no Thanksgiving we'd still have the week off) and for Chirstmas/New Years. But almost every other college in the states gets off for even minor bank holidays. We freaking start the school year ON LABOR DAY, while everyone else has off from school and work.

I love what you've done to me. I've always condoned people who acted all 'lovey dovey' in their relationships, but now I see why they can't help themselves. You've single-handedly began firing off every neuron in my brain. <3
