Hakaru flinched at the hit, rubbing his head. "Then where do you suggest me move?" he asked rather sarcastically.

Kai grabbed her husbandʻs arm, as gently as she could, and lifted him up, leading him away. "Hakaru. You and Lute need to leave. Right now, the people down there in the cave are mostly scared and tired and ready to give up. But before they give up, theyʻll go after the humans on those boats. Anything that doesn't have a fish tail will be sucked down with it, and I don't want you two here when that happens," she said softly, apologetic now after having momentarily taken her anger out on her husband. She looked out at the sea again, looking past where the ships were. In the distance, you could see white caps rising up and crashing back down. She frowned, knowing that the merpeople in the cave below them weren't doing that. It could only mean that this wasn't the only ocean being targeted. Revenge would be coming sooner than they thought.

Hakaru nodded some, kissing her cheek softly. "Can I at least take Chloe as well? The boy is having trouble sleeping. She seems to calm him down."

Kai nodded, smiling a little, though it was strained. "Yes. This is no place for her," Kai agreed, looking to where Yuke, Chloe, and Lute were. "You should leave very soon. I don't know how much longer it'll be before something big happens."

The fox nodded and waved the carriage over. Once the driver had pulled up, he had Chloe get in, him carrying the still sleeping Lute into the carriage. He laid the boy down on a section on the floor for sleeping riders. He tucked the boy in and left enough room for Chloe to sit next to him. Hakaru then told the driver to start back to the castle.

Chloe kept her hand on Lute's shoulder, wanting him to know she was there while his nightmares tortured him.
Kai and Yuke returned to the water. Yuke conjured up a good amount of food, and the two carried it back to the cave, serving it to the people there. Kai warned them that the white caps were coming, and it seemed to brighten most of them up. It meant that they weren't totally alone after all. Yuke and Kai put enforcements on the cave entrance to make sure that they wouldn't be hurt by anything before the white caps came. Now it was just time to wait.

Hakaru watched his granddaughter comfort the boy. He wondered how this had happened to him. Wasn't it specific to Kai's blood?
Lute started to shift in his sleep. The tossing and turning had com back, as had the severity and horror of the nightmares.

Chloe frowned and held one of Lute's arms down, trying to use magic to keep him for tossing and turning.
It wasn't long before the white caps began to move towards the ships anchored at the shore. The caps were large and caused by what had to be thousands of merfolk. One ship came down, then another, and another. None of the men on the ships came back up, either. In just a few minutes time, the ships were gone, aside from some of the splintered wood floating on the surface. The blood in the water had thickened, but now it was the blood of humans. Kai and Yuke released the enchantments on the cave and they all swam out to see the other merfolk. They were from the Imperial City, and among them were even the King and Queen.

Lute continued to struggle, starting to whimper in his sleep. He began to mumble and groan, the nightmares starting to frighten him as they started to involve more of his own fears.

Chloe frowned, concerned, and shook Lute's shoulders, trying to wake him up.

It took a while, but he soon woke, gasping a little. But he calmed upon seeing Chloe at his side. He rested his head on her lap, wanting comfort from the terrors in his head.

Chloe held Lute's hands, trying to calm him down. "Lute... What's wrong? What's happening?" she whispered.
Kai and Yuke made sure that the merfolk would be safe and fine, and they promised them all that should they ever need help, which was very likely in their current situation, they could get them from Mesilici. The King and Queen told them it was time to return to the City, and as Yuke and Kai were leaving, Kapaʻa caught up with them. "Let me come! They can reach me easier," he said in his broken version of the language Yuke had learned over the native tongue. Kai was reluctant, but finally gave in. The three made it to shore, and after they allowed themselves adequate time to dry off, Yuke and Kai began to walk. However, Kapaʻa stayed where he was. It took a few hours for Kai and Yuke to successfully teach Kapaʻa to wlak. They managed to catch a carriage on the road, and had it take them back to the castle.

Lute glanced up at Chloe and shook his head, not wanting to talk about it. Such things scared him so. The nightmares had invaded his head, making him watch his attack all over again. To feel that eternal abyss of blindness around him once more. It scared him.

When the carriage got to the castle, Chloe told her grandfather that she was taking Lute to his room. She helped the boy out of the carriage and put her arm around his waist, helping him into the castle and upstairs. She smiled at Apollo when they got into Luteʻs room, and she led Lute to his bed.
Coincidentally, Razz was standing outside Yumiʻs room, contemplating either knocking or running away. He wouldʻve come with flowers, but decided against it. Instead, he was holding a tray of small breakfast pastries.

Apollo barked happily as Chloe and Lute walked in. The dog watched as his master laid down, looking ever so tired. The dog hopped up onto the bed with Lute and cuddled the boy, going back to sleep.
Yumi was sitting in her room, working on some homework she had been neglecting. And she had to do it fast. If her dad found out, he'd tell mom, then all hell would break loose.
