stellarmagic Ugh... The Empire is evil argument. Okay under Palpatine the Empire was pretty evil, but all Empires practice the same sins as the Galactic Empire, racism, slavery, and genocide are all elements of every Empire, from the British to Roman. Yeah. But its the quantity of which versions that define just how "evil" they are. I think 3 counts of genocide is enough to put the EMpire as head honcho #1 in the ways of evil. Hitler could barely do 2 counts. Palps > Hitler on the scale of western "evil"s.

We are... we just don't call ourselves one. Most everyone else uses that term though. The American Empire has a certain ring doesn't it.

History be written by the victors, me friend.
America is the roman empire. Except instead of 1000 years, it does the same thing in 300. Just watch. I never said we weren't; i'm simply using traditional models.
Trying to show how the US and the empire are similar usually is what I call a dipper arguement; Instead of using the cognitive properties of something generally accepted as evil (the nazis), you're trying to soften the blow for your side by taking hits from the argument on a subject that is much less profound, say the US.
Many americans are too proud to realize what they do, and their history has been one solely of battle and conquest. By introducing something they think they know, they're distracted from the arguement at hand because they're thinking about how they're similar, rather than why the points are being made.

yes, but we haven't really acted as an empire really. We have been conquering places for the past 200 years. We mostly help out in wars rather then start. Though we think we are good, but to others we are evil.

Nearly every generation in american history has been one of territorial conquest.
It just happend in the late 1800s we ran out of country to explore to keep us occupied, and we starting going to other countries to get the fight out of our system. But even up to at least Vietnam we were in the game for keeps, not just for fun.

Though we think we are good, but to others we are evil. lol lol lol lol lol Oh God... You really need to talk to some Native Americans, Filipinos, and Mexicans. America is the ultimate imperial thief, not only do we take other peoples and land. We settled those areas, Britian never tried to do that like we do... Just think how much america stole from the Native Americans, you want a case of Genocide... American subjugation of the Native Peoples is probably among the worst in history.

Thats untrue... It was an organized government sponsered campaign, you really need to read up some more. Your ignorance of the blood on America's hands may be common, but it shouldn't be.

Figuring we protested over "Representation" of taxes (which were like, 50% less in america than living in britian) we do look like a bunch of arrogant pricks throughout history.

I have not denied the fact that America has A LOT of blood on their hands. I have not deied that we are and have been murderous people, killing without reason. I have Native american friends, and even before I knew them, I already knew what we call "Americans" did. And no, America wasn't independent then, it was considered Britain territory, not really American at the time.Hince the name "British colonies".

The Indian Wars? Can anyone say the late 1860s to 1870s... Thats when America's genocide began in earnest. Talk about destroying the Native American population in 20 years, thats when it happened not before.
