Ben exited the elevator just as someone was entering. He turned as the person passed him, thinking he had seen that face before but it was hard to tell under that fedora. He pushed the thought to the back of his mind as he continued down the hall to his room.

He used the key he had gotten from the front desk and opened the door. It was a lot nicer than he had expected, a bed big enough for three people, full bathroom with shower and bath, and a great view of the city. He tossed his clothes bag onto the bed and unpacked them. He felt stupid for bringing any clothes at all as he folded and placed them into the dresser. Blue jeans, t-shirts, and some jackets, most having English labels and words on them. He hadn't brought much because he expected to create a new wardrobe from the local fashions, only bringing enough to last a few days.

He redressed into a plain white tan-top and some worn out jeans and removed his Fender Precision from it's case, pulling strap over his head and gently holding the instrument in his hands. He brought the bass guitar with him as he exited his room, sitting down just outside the door with his Fender in his lap. He was silent for a long time, just holding his guitar, but then launched into a funky bass solo. This was what he did to relax, it helped him calm down when he was upset, helped him think more clearly, and helped him adjust to a new environment. He sat there playing his Fender Precision for several hours.

After several hours of just playing, Ben mustered up enough nerve to get up and go into the night to explore Tokyo's nightlife. He slung his Fender Precision over his shoulder and adjusted the strap so that it clung tightly to his back. He exited the hotel and saw the man in the white fedora sitting in the lobby reading a magazine and again got the feeling he'd sen the man before.

He ignored his feeling and headed out into the cool night air alone and on foot. He walked among the people unnoticed and vary few looked at him, the ones that did did so only because of he was vary obviously Gaijin. That was when he decided on a stage name for himself, Gaijin. He liked it, but he'd have to talk to his manager about it first.

He found himself standing in front of a restaurant called Luna. Or at least that's what he thought the sign read. he could speak and understand Japanese expertly, but he had some trouble reading neon signs. the people inside and the decor looked high toned and he would stick out like a sore thumb in there. And that was exactly why he decided to go in.
