Fira watched as in the distance Maki suddenly fell when on of the vines grabbed her. She pushed herself forward with another flap of her wings quickly gaining speed as she could see vine wrapped around Maki's ankles. Swiftly she flew to the side of the vine and tilted her wing down letting her feathers touch the vine as it began to burn it.
Finally Fira touched down next to Maki and ran towards her grabbing the vine around her ankles and trying to tear it off as her hands burned into the plant. Noticing that she was now unconsious Fira said, "Don't worry we'll get rid of this wreched plant."

Running behind Fira, he fired another spirit blast right at the center of vines to dispell thier magic.
"Look out fira, get Maki away from here. Ill take care of the vines."

Tearing apart the vines around Maki's ankles she looked up at Zetsuei as he shot at the vines again, "Alright." She turned back to Maki and picked her up. Even though she wasn't very strong she mannaged to jump into the air with her wings bearing the weight of both of them very well. She flew high while looking on the ground for a safe place to take Maki to.

As the vines near Maki began crumbling in the heat another group of vines shot up from the ground towards Fira along with a vine like monster attached.
"Bring me that girl! We're not done feeding!" it hissed as more vines began shooting out towards Zetsuei. "The child needs to be fed."
A drop of Maki's tainted blood dripped to the ground feeding the vines and the vines began reaching as far as it can barely touching Maki's feet.

Jumping into the air, Zetsueis black wings formed as the three barrels of his gun began to glow with more intensity and his eyes did the same. The tips of the barrels seemed to glow as one as he released the massive blast of energy at the source of the vines hoping if he hit it, it would stop them all.
"Fira, hurry get her out of here. I can handle this."

Looking down Fira's eyes went wide as she saw the vines trailing up under them and touching Maki's feet and she yelled down at the vines, "No, you wreched plant!" She flapped harder to get even higher in the air before she suddenly dove down. Weaving through the vines, burning them with her wing feathers, before she suddenly jerked out of them and towards the sea. It was only place she could think of that had a chance of stoppeing the vines, but it was also a risky place for her. Yet still she flew hard and fast jerking around making it less easy for the vines to grab at them.

"You can't escape me girl ... I will find you," said the voice as it disappeared into the darkness of her mind."I can't escape because you are inside me," Maki whispered admitting her failure. She sat on the ground and began to cry. She hasn't felt so helpless since the time she watched over Katrea in her grandfather's flying cottage after an extensive battle with the lizardmen. All she could do then was try her best. But now ... things are different. It's her own mind that needs healing and knowing that Shinja also suffers from this growing darkness inside their bodies she was willing to sacrifice her own life to see her friends live in happiness.

The vines struggled to reach Maki and Fira as they flew over the sea. Zetsuei's bullets seared the vines from its roots causing them to shrivel up and crumble into dust on the ground, revealing the destruction of the roots as the bodies of the unfortunate fell to the ground pale and blue from suffication.

Breathing hard as she flew Fira looked back seeing vines disntigrate and sighed in releaf. It was hard enough on her wings to carry herself in the form let alone another person, so she tired quickly. Carefully she swung around and slowly headed parellel to the shore, making sure there wheren't anymore vines left to reach for them.
Tuching down on the shore Fira carefully laied Maki down on the sandy beach shore before she herself fell on the ground in exhaustion. Slowly she sat up as her wings flopped back on the ground behind her. Looking back up at the city that layed ontop of a cliff she sighed, "That looks like too long of a walk..."
Slowly she picked herself up using her cane while she also grabbed Maki, putting her arm under Maki's. Shifting Maki's body weight towards her Fira began walking towards the city while dragging Maki along side her.

A tear streaked down Maki's cheek as she stirred then awakened. Her side ached as she lost more blood and got her footing back.
"I'm sorry," she said standing up and letting go of Fira. The smell of the salty sea and the sounds of the waves crashing against the shore was hypnotic. "I'm sorry to cause this much trouble for everyone. I think I know why I'm going mad but I want to talk to Shinja as well."
Maki fell to the ground. The soft sand was welcoming as she sat grabbing her legs.
"Can we rest a moment? I need to think," she asked Fira forcing a smile. "The sound of the sea is relaxing, I just need a moment."

"I thought you'd never ask," Fira said falling on the sandy ground her self catching another breath her lungs desired. "Don't be sorry, you weren't that much trouble. Besides I'm usually the one who causes the trouble among people."

Flying over head untill he saw Fira and Maki, Zetsuei landed infront of them. His wings folding up and vanishing as he did so.
"Are you both alright, did the vines get to you?"

Fira slightly looked up at Zetsuei, "No, but they gave us a run for our money." She felt like she could hardly move her body let alone even folding her wings back up as they layed steached out on the ground behind her.

"Thats good that they didnt get you. Things would have turned out much worse if they had. Lets rest here for a while, then I will fly us back to the hospitial"

Fira knodded in agreement as she looked back down at the sand and closed her eyes, "Yes, rest would be the wise thing to do for now." Her hands dug into the warm, fine sand of the beach, with her back to the sun. It began to warm her back and wings quickly putting her into a transe like state. It was normal for a Phoenix to do this sense it was one way of calming them and regenerrating their power.
