Vincent took a seat on the opposite side of Niki. It was fun listening to her talk but Tali wasn't that fun. He nodded to the teacher and pulled his pen out of his pocket. It was his favorite, his matron gave it to him; metallic gold with red stripes. It wrote with black ink though...

Taliesin ran and grabbed the seat next to Niki sticking his tounge out quickly at Vincent. There was still an empty seat next to him and next to Vincent. "Parmida," Tali gestured to the empty seat.
"002. You will refer to your classmates by number." The teacher reprimanded him sharply. The child deflated a bit as the teacher went on. "Now if 006 and 005 will take their seats we can begin the lesson."

Niki blinked. Wasn't she 002? Tali was 001, right? The girl was confused, but shrugged. This teacher just didn't know what he was talking about. Silly teacher. The girl sighed, though, as she was guessing that more fighting was not on the agenda for this class.

Parmida dropped into the seat Tali had offered. So was she 005 or 006? She thought about it, then took out her tags to look at them. 006 then. She sighed, dropped the tags beneath her clothes again, and looked at the teacher. Numbers. They were nothing but numbers to the teachers... That was so depressing to think about that Parmida promptly put it out of mind and swung her legs back and forth for something to do while she waited.

Nikiana The old man sighed. "Yes, you can drown in water. Water is blue." The man just gave up and motioned for the girl to sit on the blue instead. "You are 008. And your classmate here is 007." Why was it that the toddlers never knew their numbers? You would think the Matrons would pound something into their tiny heads before they came to him. Jasmine frowned as she reluctantly sat down on the blue. Stupid boy afraid of the color blue. What a sissy. At least she wasn't afraid of blue like the other boy. "But why do we have numbers swer? I don't wenderstand?"

The man smiled at the little girl. "Everyone has a number. It identifies you." Let the kid ponder that out. Sighing, he held up a card with various colors on it. "Can anyone tell me which color this is?" The man asked, pointing to orange. If the little boy knew blue, perhaps some of them knew some of the colors.

The teacher nodded at the children, the black sleeves of her grey robe brushing up against the map. It swung back and for for a moment as she pointed out each of the colored areas.
"Fire, Earth, Water, and Air. The four Elements." She turned back to the students. "And in the center is Nandein the city without color." A twisted smile drifted across her face. "When you turn 17 you will undergo a test to determine what, if any, element you have. And no I will not tell you what it is. Fire controls fire, heat, and occasionally light. But only those ungodly strong in fire can do that. Earth controls the rocks, and plants. Water controls water, of course. Some say they can even control the water in the air but that is just a rumor. And lastly is Air which controls the winds and air around us. Any questions?"
She raised an eyebrow on at the students.

Vincent leaned forward... so he was right... A test? To see what element they had? So this was why they had to go though all of this and this was why some of the kids didn't ever come out of the school... there were rumors. Did they die at the test. The room suddenly felt very cold... what was a point of a test if it killed you? No, no. But the elements... wind... wind and air... He thought of the violent storms that would rock the city from time to time, the thunder, the lightening... that was what he likes...yeah... He would be an element and that's what he'd be! He looked at Niki who was next to him curious, he almost thought about asking her then turned away and stared back intently at the teacher... so outside of the city were more of the bright colors...

Niki fidgeted. This was boring. They were talking about things that weren't going to happen to them for some time. Seventeen was old! Why worry about that now? She glanced at the map anyways. When would they get to fight again?

Vincent looked around and was largely disapointed to find that he seemed to be one of the only people interested in this...oh well... 17, that was a long time away... but if he started planning now he'd be more than ready for it.

Parmida looked on with interest. They could control the elements? She wondered if they got to pick what element they wanted to control... She wanted earth... She shook her head. No, no questions. Not now at least. Edit: ((*thwap* I didn't see Jup's post... Sry... *posts for Manelin now*)) --- Manelin squirmed on the red spot, trying to get comfy. He wasn't very surprised when his only classmate asked about the numbers. He looked at the teacher and nodded lots. He wanted to know too!

Selma listened intently to what the teacher was saying. A test to see if they had special powers? It seemed a little scary to her at first, but then she began to warm up to the idea. That could be fun.... Selma smiled to herself as she continued to concentrate on the teachers words. She wouldn't mind having air powers...

Nikiana ((*pokes Eagle* Bob already answered about the numbers...)) ((Really? *goes to read* ... *thwaps head against desk and mutters naughty things to herself about missing that* In that case... *shoves previous up before answer and makes new one for after answer*)) Manelin nodded at the answer about numbers. Ok then. When the teacher held up a color sheet, Manelin's eyes got wide. He knew exactly what color the teacher pointed at. Orange! "I know! I know!" he said proudly. He raised a hand and waved it wildly in the air. "Pick me! Pick me! I know! I know!" He matron had said he should raise his hand before answering in class. It was fun learning the names of colors! They were much shorter than the ones he gave them...

The old man restrained himself (barely) from chuckling at the rather enthusaistic Manelin. "Just raise your hand, 008. I can see your hand just fine without your verbal help." He grinned at the boy. "So what is this color, then?"
