At first Gilby wasn't entirely sure how happy they were with the candy they recieved from the next booth. The paper wrapping felt funny and the candy inside felt awfully hard. But before even the suggestion of tears could form in their eyes, a green kitty plushie was handed over as well.
Almost like the nightmare running the booth knew just how awful that wrapped candy was.

With her bat on her shoulder, Binhdi decided to give a fishing game she'd found a shot. And, judging by the results, she was a terrible fisher-person and would starve if she had to fish to survive. Laughing a little at the popcorn 'hand' she'd reeled in, the tall imp accepted her prize cheerfully. If nothing else, the cats at home would get a kick out of playing with the thing before it wound up being tossed out.

Zahneel had never really seen a sugar skull before. And the one she'd gotten just a moment before had her grinning as she carefully examined it. Really, it was a pretty little thing. And probably the stuff of bad dreams for parents of little kids. Good thing she had some self control and knew enough to not cram it down her throat!
And if the sugar skull wasn't cool enough, the treat wheel she'd spun had also granted her a plushie. Selecting a green skele-kitty from the basket offered to her, the young Grimm thought that this night was pretty awesome so far.

Smiling a little as a small, striped chocolate bat was dropped into her rapidly filling bucket, Ashlynn thought that it was too bad some of these things couldn't be kept forever. But the bat had already started to melt a little and she wasn't entirely sure that it would last the night.
Pity. Because it was super duper adorable.

Oh, her teeth were going to ache once this was all over! Still, that knowledge didn't keep Adelinde from happily accepting the candied apple. Nor did she complain when a small basket of plushie nezubats was offered up to her to select one from. With her own new bat friend perched on her shoulder and squeaking curiously, Adelinde picked out a plushie that resembled the living creature and grinned.
"What do you think, little friend? Good likeness, no?"

Apparently everyone in her little family was doing well treat-wise. Coralie was thrilled. Impulsively hugging Ashlynn and her children, the imp found another spin the wheel booth and couldn't help the tiny squee noise she made when the wheel stopped and a gorgeous lollipop was handed over. Oh, and the ribbon was nice too! She could keep that. Maybe she should make a scrapbook for this. Something to help her remember her babies' first holiday.

Ivy stopped at another stall. This one some sort of pick up the bat get the prize dictated by the bottom symbol. That sounded easy enough. Ivy took a moment to stare at all the little bats, almost like she was willing them to tell her their secrets.
When she heard a noise from the stall keeper she glanced up and then back down to the bats. Oh, fine she'd pick one she supposed.

On the bottom was a circle, which evidently netted her a lollipop. She's not sure what exactly she was trying to win, but that seemed okay. She selected one out and the continued on her way.
Quilo nodded. "Astonish is a super-good name," he said. "Startle, Astonish, Amaze, Shock, Surprise--lots of good options. All starting with A or S, though." He thought about that for a few seconds before reaching up to pet his bat on the head. It made a happy sound and leaned against his finger. Quilo smiled. He was in love with his new pet already!
The inside of the house was dark and quiet--mostly quiet, anyway. The floor creaked and there was a sound of wind upstairs. The whole house would occasionally creak, too. The first room was full of dusty old furniture covered in cobwebs. It was a parlor, with a fireplace full of dimly glowing embers. Quilo thought he saw a dark shadow sitting in a chair, facing the fire. He shivered and clutched Tarin's hand.
His bucket felt heavier. He looked around; besides the dark figure in front of the fire, there was no one there...
Pest seemed determined to eat, so Sara gave up. Open window. Extra blankets. That would take care of the stench from a farting kidden tonight. She refused to let the future get in the way of the present.
"We should definitely stick around here," she said. "We don' wanna spend the whole evenin' without seein' Maria." No, indeed! She looked around in the direction that Neptune indicated. The booth was right across the path from the welcome booth--a bottle toss game. "This does look lahk fun!" She put her bucket on the ground, but kept a tight leash on Pest. Picking up a ball, she threw it towards the target.
The ball hit one of the top bottles, but failed to knock over the stack. The vendor congratulated her and offered her some candy. She picked a bag of caramel eyeballs. "Thank you!" She held up the eyes and giggled. Some of them were red like her own!
Ustule did not appreciate this orphan Geist talking about her parents like that, like they were some sort of qualification and not...not Mama and Papa! But she calmed down when he finished his thought. "We all heve parents," she said. "Yours just died before you were awoken. Mine...later." It was the first time she'd talked about. But that was as much detail as she was going to give. "I guess I ahnderstend you now." But she still wasn't going to dignify his assertion about other "real" people. Eet wos a joke, Genymede. Let it go.
Ustule was admiring her collection when he mentioned the purple one. Purple? She liked the color purple. She fished in her bucket to pull out a lavender one. "You mean thees one?" She frowned. She had only seen six so far. No one wit a dark purple one. Not really? But he didn't look like he was lying, so...
While she waited for an answer, she held out her bucket to a passing adult. "Treeck or treat?" Another lollipop landed in her bucket. No other bat, though...But he wasn't lying!
Further on through the park, it began to bleed into residential neighborhoods. Jurvik paused and looked around.
"What's wrong?" Xeno asked.
Jurvik shrugged. "Just figuring out if this is also part of the festival." He looked up at the lampposts and nodded. "See? Pumpkin banners. That means that the festival continues here!"
Xeno was looking at ground level, though, an easier feat for a freshling. "Also, all of the tables and booths." He pointed at the street in front of them.
Jurvik blinked. "Well, yeah, that too."
Xeno giggled and pulled his dad along to a booth. This one was for a charity, one of the local environmental ones. "Trick or treat!" Xeno trilled.
The Baphomet tossed him a bag of candy. "Catch!"
Xeno lifted up his bucket, catching the treat inside.
The Baphomet applauded. "Nice catch! Happy Haunted Hallows!"
Callessa played a few more games after that one, all of them disappointing. Callessa was just about to participate in a duck race game when someone squealed her name and slammed into her from the back. "Oof!" She almost dropped her bucket of candy and turned. A pair of gold eyes in a dark face smiled up at her sweetly. Aah, Eidil! One of the cuter girls at school. They'd been friends since they were kids, though Callessa hadn't yet had the courage to admit to her that she had a crush on her Demon friend. She gently disentangled her friend's arms from her and held her hands. "Eidil, you're here! I was wondering how long it would take you." Eidil's bat costume was just adorable. She always went all-out, and that meant the rubber nose as well. Somehow, the scrunched-up nose of a bat looked good on her. "Love the costume," she said. Something nudged her boot and she looked down.
A Pumpka sat at her feet. She didn't hesitate. She dropped Eidil's hands and her bucket and pounced on the offending creature. She didn't throw her full weight over it, but her torso was nonetheless pinning it to the ground. It tried to float up, shrieking all the while, but the Fallen remained firm. She wrestled it on its side so that she could see its face and blew a sharp blast of air into its gaping mouth. The candle inside went out and the Pumpka stilled.
Callessa was dressed as a scarecrow, as she was most years. But she knew from experience that the Fallen didn't like being teased about it. Instead, she smiled and said, "And yours is so cute, too! I love it!"
Callessa's warm hands dropped Eidil's--and her bucket--suddenly. Eidil could only watch as her friend wrestled with an orange pumpkin that...screamed? So it was a Pumpka, then. She shook her head. Her friend loved plants almost as much as she herself loved bats. She knelt down to collect her friend's prizes and put them back in the bucket while the other wrestled with the pumpkin.
Her own bucket was left unattended, but someone dropped candy in it. She smiled at that. "Thank you! Happy Haunted Hallows!" she shouted at the person as they went by. She got to her feet and held out a hand to help her friend up. "Congratulations! Nice pumpka! Um, are you sure it's going to be okay, though?"
Bless her heart. "It'll be fine," Callessa said. She dusted off her legs and retrieved her bucket. She held it in one hand and the pumpkin under the other arm. "Pumpkas fall asleep when you blow out the candle. When I relight it, it'll wake up again. Listen, how about I drop off my bucket of candy and this screaming beauty at my mom's tent and we go out trick-or-treating?"
Eidil nodded enthusiastically. "Of course! I'd love to go trick-or-treating with you!" She looped her arm around Callessa's and, following Cal's lead, skipped along beside her.
He nodded, "I agree... I hope she makes it here soon." He sighed, partly wondering if she was okay, partly knowing she was probably just late. Though lateness seemed very Un-Maria like. He followed Sara to the toss game booth, and waited his turn. He managed two out of three this time, which earned him a nice treat. Yay!
"Ah, th-those are pretty i-interesting looking." He nodded at the bag of eyes Sara had won, then held up his own bag of skulls. "Heheh....t-too bad they aren't smaller... th-they could go in the skulls...!"
Ah, he'd hit a nerve, he could sense it. Though she hadn't lashed out... interesting. "Yeah but you actually got to be with yours in the place you're s'posed to be from." He shrugged, "even if it was for a little bit of time... But good." He nodded, most people continued to fight him on the notion of realness, especially fellow cache orphans. He supposed they didn't want to come to grips with the reality that unless you were a demon, you weren't really part of your own culture unless you grew up there. In his mind, anyway.
"Yeah, it's really rare." He nodded, continuing the lie without any pause. Lying was something he'd grown accustomed to, after all. He didn't mimic her this time, but got himself a little treat anyway. Huh.

Tarin was pleased he liked her name idea, she did wonder however why he brought up that they all started with "a" or "s." Something Quilo related? Maybe it had to do with why he spent so much time in the library? Usually if she asked he just said he was looking for something and hadn't found it yet. She supposed he'd tell her whenever he was ready.
She looked over the interior. It was suitably creepy she supposed. She was looking at a cobweb coated clock as Quilo gripped her hand. She gave him a reassuring squeeze as she glanced over at him.

Tarin heard something thunk into her pail and saw yet another box of raisins. When she looked over she didn't see anyone, but...well that was the idea right?
