Lucid followed the barely visible trail through the rest of the mountains rather easily, not bothering to check and see his kids were following. If they really wanted the answers they were looking for, they'd follow. Stepping into the tall grass that made up a portion of the Plains and surrounded the castle, he headed toward home. Upon reaching the huge double doors, he slid one open, then stepped back.
"This is the Haven." he said, motioning them inside.

Julian watched the ancient move easily away from them and slowly loosened his hold on his sister.
: Do not be so trusting Christiana, he may be able to help us but I do not want to see you place yourself so blatantly in dangers path again.: His voice was harsh, and relentless, echoing through his sisters mind deliberately. He wanted her agreement. God only knew what he would do should he lose her.

Christiana frowned but stepped away from her brother as she felt his hold on her loosen. Looking up at him, she hesitated, but reluctantly gave her agreement, knowing that her twin would prevent her from following should she refuse. Stubborn a**....if she didn't know he only did it out of love for her, she would have gone insane years ago. While she loved having a twin, that fact that he was male and domineering grated on her every nerve. He was worse than their step father...who hadn't seemed to know how to react to a female who actually had spine and some common sense. Her mother had had both but had always been very submissive in their step fathers presence. Crissy couldn't conceive of living such a way...oh sh could pretend for a while but not forever. Standing back, she followed in the ancients wake only after her brother did and looked over the Haven as it was introduced. Touching her brothers mind, she sighed at the steel resolve she found there and attempted to lighten the mood.
biggrin amn thing is huge isn't it...maybe he's over compensating for something: she said softly in his mind, glancing over at her twin with eyes dancing with laughter.

The sound of his sister laughter, even mentally was contagious and at her comment, Julian felt relectuant amusement. Shaking his head, he felt a smile tug at the corners of his mouth and looked sharply over at her.
:Behave Christiana...that is not funny.: he answered quietly, though he knew very well she could feel his humor and her quick flash of a grin proved it to him.
"We thank you, for taking the time to see us. We didn't like having to disturb you." Julian said rather formally, knowing that when speaking with ancients it was best to cover all of you bases. Though he continued to watch the other vampire with cold eyes, waiting for any sign of a threat.

Lucid paused, turning to look at the boy.. Even though the kid was speaking to him in a polite manner, Lucid knew that it was only surface polish. The kid was good at showing no fear, but in Lucid's opinion, true fear came from the coldest of stares.
"If you were really disturbing me, I would have let those men play with you and threw up a shield around my home so that you could not enter." he said simply. "I did not, however, because I would never shut my own children out of my home." He turned then, moving along the corridor toward the pale glow of neon light.

Crissy had simply been following along, trusting her brother to keep her safe, but the vampires casually spoken words stopped her cold.
"What?" she asked, her voice seemed overly loud in the silence of the hallways. She ignored the warning brush of her brothers mind and continued to study the man in front of her, sure she hadn't heard him correctly.

Frowning at the ancients words, Julian took another look at the vampire that moved ahead of them. He once again moved to place himself between his sister and the stranger more out of habit than out of fear for her safety. Turning the words over in his mind, he began to piece things together. The remains of the letter...and the probing questions about his and is sisters well-fare. Their coloring...black hair, pale blue eyes. They shared the ancients coloring. His eyes...his eyes were the exact shade and shape as their own. Accidentally they had stumbled upon more than just information of their father...they had stumbled upon their father. Still not sure of what he thought of it...or the man himself, Julian simply continued to move forward, pulling his sister along with him. He supposed hey got where they were going, the vampire would tell them more.

Lucid let out a small sigh when he reached the lounge. One of the lights was blinking furiously, sending a strobe like pattern of light onto the area around the bar. Closing his eyes, he moved easily over to the pulsing light and touched it, magically repairing the fine wiring that ran the length of the tubing. He then turned, formulating a stool to sit upon. Pulling out the same bottle he'd had earlier, he watched the two vampires make their way into the lounge.
"Come, sit, and we will talk about your mother." he said, motioning to the many stools that lined the opposite side of the bar from where he sat.

Julian hesitated only a moment before moving toward the other stools. Sinking into the one closest to the vampire, he waved his hand slightly toward the other. An indication for his twin, though he knew the gesture would set her teeth on edge. Thinking it best to remain quiet and wait, he watched the ancient, his pale gaze, patient as he fixed it on the other male.

Christiana fought the urge to go drag another stool over to the vampires other side, just to thwart her brother, but was long past the stage where such childish gestures eased her mind any...or cooled her temper. Curious as well however, she sank gracefully onto the stool, her gaze also on the vampire. It was odd to think of her mother with someone other than their step father. Particularly someone as hard and domineering as this male seemed to be. No wonder her mothers spirit seemed to dwindle away and fade to almost non-existence. Life with first this man and then er step father must have stamped it out of her. Her eyes hardened at the thought and she frowned, lowering her gaze to avoid the vampire seeing her glare.

A constant shadow in his sister mind, Julina frowned at her thought but could not fault his sisters reasoning. He merged deeply for a moment though, knowing she was being unfair.
:Christiana that is unfair. You cannot say that as we have no real knowledge of him. First impressions are not always correct, shyendra, do not forget that.: He softened his tone as he continued to speak, reprimanding his sister but not wanting to ignite her temper further.
: Do not be so judgmental.:

Christiana stiffened as she felt her brothers unexpected merge but relaxed at his words. She knew she was assuming far to much, but watching her mother slowly fade away long before she had been executed had been it's own form of torture. It was easier to blame this stranger than the man who had raised her, though she could resent his later actions easily enough. Shaking her head, she pushed those thoughts aside and frowned, reaching for her twin.
:Alright...relax, I will listen to what he has to say. And I am not your little one any longer: she stated quietly, in reference to his term in vampierian. The language was old and long forgotten by the newer vampires who had yet to take the time to learn. The endearment had been used by both her brother and her mother when she was a small child. Hearing it now only brought up the sharp pain at the loss of her family as she knew it.

Lucid swam through his own thoughts for a moment, trying to decide where to start. In situations like these, he thought it was best to start at the beginning.
"I fell in love with your mother the very first time I saw her. It was at a party, or gathering, as we used to call them. I was a recluse even then, and your mother was my polar opposite. She sought me out, made me dance with her on the balcony where I'd been hiding. It was the best time I think I ever had at any of those gatherings." he said, pulling a goblet from the shelf with magic and pouring himself some of the bloodwyne. "That started our relationship. It was wonderful, untill she met that man. Delantour." He didn't say the name with any sort of anger or disgust, for he didn't feel any. He didn't hold a grudge for very long. He had not the time for such things. "It was love at first sight for her and him alike. She had only just told me she was pregnant with twins when they first met. I knew she was gone from me the moment she introduced him to me. He was a high lord too, she told me. The only difference between us was that I didn't live on my family's name and fortune, and he did. That made him more popular. Probably not her reasons for leaving me for him, but it may have helped. She stayed with me until you were both born, because I made her. I nursed her though the entire pregnancy and birthing, giving her my blood when she needed. I never stopped loving her, even though I knew that she didn't love me in return. But then, after you were born, she left, and took both of you with her." He sipped his drink as he told the story, remembering it as clearly as if it had been only yesterday. He'd taken in Seth that same summer, using the kid as a sort of distraction from the pain. Arjay had also come to him that summer, and that had been help, too. "I tried to come around, be part of your lives, but Delantour only made both your mother and I feel like s**t and eventually forbade me to come around. He claimed that I was only making things harder between them and it would cause you children stress. I thought it was best, at the time, to simply leave all of you alone. So I came here, and hunted criminals for a living. I wrote letters, but they never got answered." he said, then shrugged. "Now I see why. Fire can't write me back and tell me that my letter tasted good."

Julian simply absorbed his words like a sponge and while he could easily believe what the man said about his step father, he looked for the first time to his twin. If the vampire lied...about anything in his story, Christiana would know. It was another of her knacks, she had always been able to recognize a lie. His parents had never spoken to him about their past. Nor had he ever really questioned their heritage until the death of their mother. Delantour had been more than willing to cast them aside, furious as he claimed that his had been able to bear another mans spawn and not his own. Without her presence, he would not be able to tolerate theirs. The words hadn't wounded him nearly as much as they has Crissy, who had loved their step father. But that was his twin, once you had her loyalty, her affection you had it until she felt you no longer deserved it. That didn't mean that it didn't hurt her. Watching Christiana, he sighed, his pale gaze moving over her as she took in the strangers...their fathers words.

Listening to the story, Christiana could almost feel the deep sorrow behind the words. Finally feeling her brothers gaze she turned to look at him and hesitated for a long moment, mulling the vampires words over in her mind.
:He's telling the truth Julian. I cannot find even a hint of a lie, though i think it hurts him that he never got to see us, or even hear from us. I think mother leaving him hurt more than he lets on.: Her voice was soft and filled with compassion for the man that was her father. Watching him, knowing he spoke the truth when he said he loved her mother made her sad as well. Delantour had said he loved their mother often, and while it had been true to some extent, Crissy had always felt a lie, rather by omission or just outright she had never been sure but her mother had never believed her. For some reason, hurt pierced through her with the accuracy of an arrow, and made her fight back tears. It seemed the bombardment of emotion had finally taken it's toll on her. Closing her eyes for a moment, she willed it away, glad fro the comfort of her brothers merge. The silence seemed to stretch, long and awkward but Christiana could think of nothing to say.
