Homecoming: Part 1

Baldric wasn't exactly sure what had prompted him to looking into adoption, call it curiousity crossed with him feeling as if he were getting old and was never going to have a kid. He'd not actually thought he was going to adopt a child mind you just that he was going to take a peak into the idea and then go and talk with Hari about it. Not exactly how things had ended up playing out... he looked down at the small child that was clinging to his arm and looking up at him with huge brown eyes, she wasn't exactly afraid of him but she didn't seem to know how to react either to her new 'Daddy'. Baldric would admit that he wasn't exactly what one would normally see as Father Material but the fact that he was half owner of a successful business, doing rather well when it came to money, and no longer on parole for passed offenses it would appear he were good enough, "So... Do you have a name?" He asked of her, she was old enough to walk and talk so surely she must already come with a name tag?

She blinked up at him, then turned her ears forward. Wow... the giant man that was referred to as 'Daddy' was talking to her again. She wondered idly how she was supposed to react. It was strange that she was going 'home'. She didn't exactly know what that was, she had been at the Labs long enough that she had believed it was home. Then again it wasn't as if others were adopted out before her and others wouldn't be adopted out after her. Her fluffy tail wagged a little bit, "E-Eevee." She said, pointing at herself. She was an Eevee was that what he had meant? Not exactly sure but she was feeling at the moment a bit to shy to confirm with him if it were what he meant. Instead she just gazed up at him, wondering where exactly 'home' was.

"Eevee?" He asked, then looked down at he bundle of papers he'd been given among them was a birth certificate. He found first the papers that spoke of Eevee and what exactly they were, the second form of DNA she carried in her veins aside from that of humans he figured out after a moment, "Ahhh! I see. No, you see Eevee is what you are not who you are."

She starred more, hands holding more tightly onto the large hand of the man. He seemed nice enough, he smiled a lot and he had a nice tone to his voice. He wasn't scary at all she decided which caused her to perk up a little bit. He was big, very BIG but not scary? It was kind of a strange idea to her that you could be big and kind and she found herself idly picturing a Snorlax in her mind, they seemed pretty big and nice as well... so long as you didn't wake them up in the middle of one of their extended naps that was. Maybe that meant that her Daddy was one of those? She starred at him for a while before shaking her head, no... that couldn't be right. He wasn't at all the right shape to be one of those, instead he had all the muscle power of a Machoke or Machamp. She blinked when she realized she hadn't for a while and looked away.

"I'm hungry." She said to her Daddy.

"Are you? Alright. Umm... so what do you eat? Are you a vegetarian? A Vegan? Or do you actually eat normal food?" Baldric questioned of her, there were so many strange fads these days. Some people only ate vegetable, some didn't eat carbs, some only ate carbs, some ate all protein, it seemed it were rather rare to find someone that ate a normal diet that went along with the outdated food pyramid.

"Hmm? Whats a Vegan?" She asked of him, having no idea what that word meant.

"They won't eat anything that casts a shadow." He said jokingly then starred down at her realizing that she was taking him seriously from the look he was getting from her, "Ahh... look what they are isn't important. What is important is eating healthy and that doesn't mean throwing away a whole food group cause some fad tells you too." He sounded a bit as if he were complaining before he lifted the arm the Eevee wasn't clinging to and gave it a flex, "See that? I eat whatever I want and exercise and I have these bad boys, no weirdo fad for me thank you."

She starred at him then started to giggle unable to help it, "Hehe... your weird." She said.

Baldric wasn't seeming at all offended, after all Hari said much more harsh things then that on a daily basis when he did or said something stupid. Instead he nodded, "Probably just a bit but I am right you know. I am not going to let you go off fasting or anything strange like that just keep it in mind."

She gave a nod of her head before she released her death grip on his arm finally and walked along at her side, "So we are really going 'home' then?" She asked in such a tone that she didn't exactly believe it. Or maybe it was that she didn't understand it?

"Yeah, there is a scary man named Hari that will be there. Let me do all of that talking and we should escape his wrath with our skins intacted."

Her eyes went huge again, "Would the Hari man eat us?" She asked, with a little gasp.

"Maybe not you, your to cute so you may escape but me on the other hand, he yells at me often and threatens me with several sorts of death. We will have to use your cute to our advatage though. We are almost home so pratice your best smiles." He said, patting her on the head and then turned his gaze forward. Really he was worried, it was one thing to bring home a stray cat to Hari and go: Look what I found. It was a whole other thing to bring home a stray child and go: Look what I adopted!

Homecoming (and Fleeing): Part 2

They had a nice couch, it was big, it was plush, and it was so bouncy! Fenrir climbed up onto the arm of it, stood up on it and found herself almost as tall as her Daddy Baldric who was standing not to far away. She looked over at him her ears turning forward before she looked at the smaller man who was standing in front of him, yelling... still.

"... do you know how much they cost! How much they eat? They need clothing and education! What in the world were thinking... no... no.... knowing you I bet that you weren't thinking were you?" He was yelling now.

"Actually education is free we just have to do some initial homeschooling stuff ourselves and..." Baldric started, trying to use that information as a foothold to appease the anger of the monster that was Hari.

"Ourselves? Ourselves! So you think that you can decide the bring a kid home and then enlist me into the education process?!" He demanded, fists cletching at his sides in a way that said he were two steps away from killing Baldric. If there were no stupid giant then the kid would surely have to go back right? He didn't want a kid running around he had to many nice, expensive things and from what he had learned from parents when you had kids of your own you weren't allowed to have nice things. The nice things got ruined because nice and expensive also meant delicate.

As if to prove this very point he turned in time to see the fluffy child that his roommate had brought home go jumping from the arm of the couch and across it, bounce, bounce, bounce... he lunged forward after the third bounce to catch her before she landed on the other arm which looked to be the idea she had. While it would almost be alright were she to actually land it right. He wasn't about to risk it because just on the otherside of that arm was a small table that held a glass lamp and his book of sketches. He couldn't risk them as the sketches within were for potential customers that wanted him to draw up ideas for their tattoos.

Hari turned to give Baldric a dark glare then held out the child to him, "Take her somewhere." He said, his voice was very even. That even that gave a man chills because one knew that the man was plotting his downfall.

Baldric plucked the girl out of his arms quickly and lifted her up to sit on his shoulder where he hoped she would be out of Hari's reach, "Look, she is already here and already ours so why don't we make the most of it? I mean what is so wrong with being a parent? I like the idea of having kids."

"Stop right there!" Hari pointed at him, eyes narrowing, "There will be no kids there is currently a kid and that is how it is going to stay you got that? I refuse to let you go off and find another one. If you even try it I will dig a hole in the backyard big enough to bury you in!"

Baldric gave a bright smile and then a nod of his head, "See that little one? He said that you could stay." He said, seeming to have missed all of the rest of it, "How about you thank him?"

She gave a nod of her head, "Thank you Scary Hari Man." She said, ears giving a flick before turning forward.

Hari seemed to be twitching at the nickname he had gotten from the girl and he lifted a hand, pointing it in the direction of the front door, "Go. Now. OUT!"

Baldric bolted with his little Eevee girl in tow, best to flee now while they still had their skin intact.

The Giving of a Name

"I have been thinking about it." He said, looking after the girl as she ran along ahead of him but not to far. He told her that so long as she could hear his normal talking voice she was close enough.

She looked back at him, "Mmm? Thinking?" She asked, pausing to look down at a bug that was crossing the sidewalk in front of her. She knelt down in front of it and poked at it with her fingertip.

"Yep, I have been trying to think of a perfect name for you and I think that one has finally come to mind." He said as he caught up to her, looking at the bug she was inspecting before standing up straight, "I was thinking Fenrir, its the name of a rather powerful wolf from Norse Mythos. I think it would suit you as you were brave enough to call Hari scary to his face plus you sorta have the look of a wolf to you."

Her ears turned back first before her head followed, the bug was no longer what she found interesting as she starred up at him. It could been seen in those huge, brown eyes of hers that she was thinking over the name and what the name was attached to before giving a nod, "I want to be strong like the Fenrir Wolf." She murmured, she wondered if it were possible to be strong like something out of a myth. She bet it were since her father looked a giant out of the fairy tales.

She gave a bright smile then nodded her head, "I like the name, I will be Fenrir."

"Sounds good, now. How about we keep walking? The farther we get from home the more time it will take us to get back." Which meant the more time Hari would have to cool off and hopefully he wouldn't work off his anger digging that hole he'd threatened to bury him in...

Oops... Art Supplies...

Fenrir was so very bored at the moment. Her Daddy and Dad were good men, interesting when they would do something that was them just sitting around starring at blank paper. She peeked at them from around the door jam between the hallway and then slid back into the hall and headed down it. Her room was given to her by her Daddy until they could figure out where to put her. She liked it well enough even if it were to grown up for her tastes. At least the bed was big and fun to jump on. Given its size she also didn't have to worry about rolling off of it at night. A whole party could sleep on it... so long as they were all her size at least.

She went passed her room into another bedroom. This one wasn't owned by either Daddy or Dad, instead it was where they kept all sorts of interesting art supplies. She was told the room was off limits but since everything in here was so brightly colored she couldn't resist. She looked in the direction her parents were located before she slipped into the room and looked around. It smelled funny in here, the strong scent of various paints and markers among other things. She lifted a hand to rub her nose before she set to exploring the room, looking for something near to her level to look at.

She gave a happy sound when she ran across something rather pretty. It was a case full of a rainbow of markers. Her eyes went wide as she opened it up and looked through the many different shades of all sorts of pretty colors, "Wow!" She murmured before she gathered a handful of them together and left the room. She knew exactly what she needed to color too. It was so dull, so white and it just begged for her to fix it.

The inside of the door to her room.

*****

Baldric lifted his head from what he was working on to look over at the spot that Fenrir had been sitting the last time he'd looked up. The spot that was now vacated, toys and TV abandoned by the little girl. He gave a sound as he jerked to his feet, dropping the sketch book on his lap and the pencil in his hand, "Fenrir? Fenrir!" He called as he left the room quickly to go in search of his daughter.

Hari looked over at him a moment before sighing, rising to his feet to follow him, "This is a bad idea you know, we aren't cut out for parenting!"

"Just help me look for her Hari, we can argue later if you like."

"The art room is open." Hari said, crossing his arms over his chest and nodding in that direction. He felt his anger rising as he had told the girl that the room wasn't one she needed to be in and yet she'd gone in anyway.

Seeing the look in Hari's eyes Baldric hurried down the hall to look in the room, "Fenrir?" He looked back and forth then gave a shake of his head, closing the door after himself, "She isn't in there."

"Anymore." Hari said, sniffing at the air. He could smell ink... It was rather heavy near to where he was standing too. He looked towards the door he stood next to before he reached a hand out and pushed the door open.

There was a squeak from the other side as Fenrir dodged out of the way of the opening door, looking up at the one that was standing there. Her hands and face both were colored in a rainbow of colors though they didn't stand out very brightly against her chocolate colored skin, "Hello." She greeted Hari and Baldric, her fluffy tail wagging.

Hari starred down at her for a long moment before he stepped, around the door to look at it and then gave a sound of shock, "Gods... who taught you how to match colors?" Not seeming to be as much bothered by the fact that she had drawn on the door as much as the fact that she'd drawn colors together that didn't belong together.

"Nobody." She said, ears turning forward as she rose to her feet.

"Clearly... come on. I will show you that while Baldric cleans the door."

"What... hey why do I have to clean the door?" The giant of a man demanded.

"You brought her home, shes your responsibility!" Hari snapped then led the girl out of the room leaving Baldric behind to clean while taught her about the all important 'Color Wheel'.

My Letters

Hari looked up from his sketch pad and over at the girl who was singing to herself as she drew on her new drawing pad with her rainbow of markers. It sounded like the alphabet and he found himself slightly curious about what it was that she was drawing whilst singing. He abandon his drawing to go and looked over her shoulder, looking at the mess of letters she had there. A few of them were backwards, a couple of them looked a bit like she had guessed when making them. He sat down next to her, reaching out to pick up one of the markers then motioned, "Can I have a sheet of paper?" He asked of her, giving a smile.

Fenrir looked up at her Dad then her tail started to swish rapidly, nodding her head, "Sure!" She said happily, drawing out a piece and held it out to him. He took it gladly then set to writing out the alphabet neatly for her, "There you go, this is how the letters look. Its hard to get them at first but you have the basic idea down."

Her eyes were a bit wide, it sounded as if her Dad were complimenting her. Given that it was Hari and not Baldric it was in fact an exciting day for her. Her ears turned forward and she leaned over, trying to copy each of them as best as she could. She lacked the motor control that her Dad had but she was giving it her best shot. She turned it around when she was done to show it to her Dad. He took the paper to look it over, scanning the letters before he gave a nod, "They don't look to bad. Your need to work on a few of the letters they a bit similar, your lower case 'b's and 'd's will need the most work, same with the 'q's and the 'p's." He advised the girl.

Fenrir looked down at the paper before she gave a nod of her head, "I will try to clearer next time." She said, giving a bright smile and her tail began to wag again.

"Good, you have a lot of paper so you practice your letters. If you get them all done right I will give you a treat. Anything you want."

Fenrir's eyes went HUGE and her ears turned forward, she drug out her next piece of paper to work on the letters again. She wondered what she would ask for, what did she want the most? An idea popped into mind and she was soon working that much harder on the letters, "I know what I want." She said in a sing-song sort of voice.

Hari watched her wondering if he had made a bum deal... He supposed he would see when she made her request of him.

A Reward of Holes

It was very much different to be the one in the chair awaiting the piercing guns then it was to be the one that was watching from the sidelines. Fenrir had decided that for getting her letters right she wanted to have the reward of a pair of earrings. She had thought on it hard, knew that there was a lot of work that went along with them since she'd heard her father tell a lot of people how to take care of such things. Fenrir watched her fathers as they went about getting things ready and seemed to be arguing quietly amongst themselves. She figured it had to do with the fact that her Dad Hari had made the agreement with her that she could have any one thing she wanted if she got her letters learned without telling Daddy Baldric about it. She didn't think that Daddy was against it so much as just mad that he was out of the loop.

She turned her large ears forward to try to listen in to what was being said.

"... don't like to be uninformed Hari." Baldric was saying.

"Would you stop acting like her mother. Its a simple pair of earrings, we give them to kids all the time!" Hari said, shaking his head as he went to pick out the pair of earrings that Fenrir had said she wanted.

"I am not acting like her mother I am acting like her father which I am." He said, crossing his arms over his chest.

"Yes, you are. If I remember correctly you brought her home without consulting me." He said, getting the earrings, "Despite that, despite not being very good with kids passed punching holes in them I think I have done well enough. Plus I got her to not only learn her letters but to do them neatly! Neat penmanship is important."

Baldric gave a twitch, so that was what this was? "So your getting back at me for not consulting you by piercing my daughter's ears without telling me? Thats rather petty Hari."

Hari turned to give a dark glare to Baldric, the one that said the man was starting to tread upon very thin ice, "No, I am doing this because I don't go back on my word. I told her that if she did well I would give her a reward. I didn't think this is what she would ask for, I figured it would be candy or a toy or something. Not my fault she spends so much of her time in the shop."

Baldric gave a sigh, given that they both worked here and often it wasn't Hari's fault, it wasn't either of their fault just the fault of their busy work schedules, "Man... next thing we know shes gonna want a tattoo..." He said, not even wanting to think about when she was old enough to ask for one of those.

Fenrir made a face then said, "Ack! No! I will never, ever want a tattoo!" She cried, suddenly alerting Hari and Baldric to the fact that she had been listening in to their conversation. The pair actually flushed a bit when they learned that the little girl had been listening to them as they argued about her.

"Ahh... lets hope you remain of that mind." Hari said, walking over to her, "How about we get these earrings done, huh?"

Fenrir nodded her head, "So long as its ok with Daddy." She said, turning to look over at Baldric.

The man seemed to be thinking on it for a long moment before finally nodding his head, "Fine, one set of piercings but that is it for a long, long while!" She was told in a very adamant way.

"Ok, not piercings like your snaky friend." She said, sitting back in the chair to await her new earrings being put in.

Both Hari and Baldric nodded rapidly, "Most definitely no piercings like that." Both agreed in unison.

Bucket of Beads

"Bucket of beads, bucket of beads, I have a bucket of beads." The little Eevee girl said in a sing song voice as she made her way from the front door to the living room. She was quite excited by this new purchase as she was going to use all of these wonderful beads to make bracelets for her friends to wear. It was almost X-mas time and she'd decided that jewelry was the best gift to give and even more important was that it was jewelry she would make with her own hands.

She looked down at the bracelet she wore that Tyra had made for her and smiled. It was the most important thing to her and she would take very good care of it. She leaned over to kiss the item before she set to work going through the beads and sorting them out. She had to make six bracelets, one for each friend.

Lets see... She decided upon green, leaf like beads and some smaller red beads for the bracelet for Tyra. For Corbin red beads and bigger white beads that had red markings that looked sorta like his markings. For Kale and Alexis both there were blue beads that would look nice on the pair of them both being pretty blue themselves. For Leia it would be some smaller beads to go between the white, flower shaped beads. Finally for Piper some green and blue beads that would stand out nicely against her orange coloring.

She looked over at her Daddy and Dad giving them her best smile, they were so nice to buy the bucket of beads and the stretchy string that she would put the beads on. They had seemed to like her idea of making gifts for her friends instead of just buying something and were all for helping her.

She spent the next hour working on the patterns for the bracelets wanting for the six items to be absolutely perfect!
