My favourite symbol of death?

It'd have to be the very figure of the dead.
The figure of someone with closed eyes, and their arms layed over their shoulders.

Favorite symbol of death...

The tarot card, Death. Because I love a drastic change.

Least favorite...

Black dog. I believe they're excellant luck, a good sign from Hecate.

Special...

As I said, I love a dramatic change, and the prominent interpretation of the card is change. Violent one at that.

Background to it...

Just some personal research on my part. heart

Favorite: *shrugs* I don't really know. I always liked the tombstone, because..I don't know. It just seems like a tragic symbol.

Least: Black Cats. ******** overrated. D<

Special: They're miserable. >.> And they still seem to mean something. They aren't that threatening. I think crosses and things are a bit...i don't know..they just seem to hover over you...tombstones are just like..a personal monument.

Backround: I've been to a graveyard twice. One was in Nevada..I forgot where. I was a little kid, and I kept crying everytime I stepped over someones grave, because I thought I was disrespecting the person buried there. The other wasn't really a graveyard. It was like, a memorial to the people killed in Iraq. I took pictures of it. It was just morbid. I dunno. Graveyards still seem very peaceful to me.

You've only been in two graveyards??

Whenever I was staying with my grandmother, we used to go clean the graves of her parents and friends that had already left this plane of existance. Around Easter people would place colored eggs around their loved ones' tombstones. After a few weeks, those were an unfortunate thing to clean up to say the least...

*still confused by poll*
what do fat people have to do with symbols of death?

except, I suppose they're mortal too...still. skeletons are usually kind of thin.

even the ones in fat people.

look here.
in Peterkirche, in Munich Germany, there's an altar. in it is one of the original catacomb Christians, a lady who they've named Munditia Protogenia.
she's all dressed up in gilded fabric, and with fake hair and eyes stuck in so it looks like she's watching you.

That, to me , is the coolest death related thing I can think of.
oh, other than those cakes and little figurines the Mexicans get up to during the Dia de los Muertos, but hey.

It's pretty funny what people do to preserve their body. It's so pointless...

I agree. Fear of aging and fear of death are born of clinging to the self as
being something permanent and lasting, which it isn't. Aging gracefully is a
difficult and noble thing to do. I hope I'm able to pull it off with good pants.

According to SNL, when you turn 50, you're
supposed to have red pants and dance in them.
