((Hououza. D: ))

Cai now rode into Xia Pi, Gan Ning riding beside her. Her eyes flickered over the battle field, looking over at what had been done so far. Cai now rode into the city, slowing her horse. She unmounted her horse, holding onto the reins and looking around. She suddenly saw a soldier drop down dead, but what was strange was the fact that he had no arrow sticking out from his body or any other sign of a type of weapon. What in the...?

"What's going on here?" Cai asked a soldier, as someone came up and took her horse.

"Lord Guan Yu is battling against the general of the enemy army." The soldier answered, almost tripping over his own words. Cai nodded, then ran over to one of the walls and glanced over the top. She could see her uncle off in the distance battling against someone who... was that a midget? Her uncle had to be twice as big as who he was battling with, if not bigger! Who in Nu Wa's name was that person? They had to have some serious guts to go up against her uncle!

Her attention was snapped back when she felt something skid against her cheek, which made her quickly duck down. Cai touched her cheek, and felt a small, long scratch over her pale white skin. Then she noticed another soldier on the ground. Her eye brows went together in thought, her mind bringing together that whatever was making these men die had just went strait past her head, barely missing her and that soldier had been hit instead. At least she had some kind of an idea of what these things were, but one thing remained burned firmly in her skull: She hadn't even seen whatever it was that had been fired coming at her. No wonder all of the soldiers were so frightened.

"Do not be afraid!" Cai yelled out to the soldiers as she stood back up, though she was sure to be in a place that wasn't directly out in the open. "We must defend this city with our lives! I shall protect it with mine, so protect it along side with me! We must fight for virtue! Push these invaders back just as we have done before against the other kingdoms! For Lord Liu Bei! For Shu!" One her last words Cai lifted her fork up, pointing it up towards the sky. This wasn't exactly the best speech, but she had to say something to bring their morale up. "Let the heavans see what Shu can do! Show these invaders what Shu can do and strike fear into their hearts!"

Gan Ning was right behind Cai, and jumped off his horse about a second later then her. He had heard the conversation between Xing Cai and a soldier So Guan Yu was fighting their leader, and these invaders used strange firing machines that were easy to carry. Gan Ning knew he shouldn't ponder this, a sitting duck was a dead one. He moved closer to Xing Cai, and listened to her heartfelt morale-inducing speech. He peered over the wall as she had, and couldn't help but laugh loudly, "Guan Yu's fighting a midget, that guy stands no chance!" All the carnage that lay below him was awe-inspiring, making him want to get out there and lay waste to some enemies, but he thought about it for a second. "So Xing Cai, what would you have me do, I'm your subordinate afterall. If you want me to guard you with my life I will." Ning would be glad to help Xing Cai any way he could.

((Poor Date being called a midget. D= Least it beats being called a kid. XDDD))

Date Lightly danced out of the way of Guan Yu's attack, batting the giant's glaive aside with one of his wooden swords. That had been a foolish move, however, since the force of the man's weapon nearly sprained or even broke Date's wrist in the process. He grimmaced slightly at the resulting pain that lanced through his hand and wrist, but fortunately it was nothing serious. The pain would fade, as it always did. Cripes. This man was strong, though!

Darting forward in a surprising lunge bound to take most anyone off-guard, Date ducked beneath the man's arm, jabbing fiercly at his side, then emerging from behind. He had a clear view of the man's back for a moment as he spun briefly, and he was intending t use every moment he needed.

This fight was not going to be won with just his wooden swords, no. They were but toys in this battlefield, and this was either going to be a loss for him or a fight which required immense amounts of patience.

Patience Date certainly lacked.

Dropping the wooden sword held in his lfet hand, Date's now-freed hand shot towards his waist, fingers clasping around one ornately-carved handle of his pistol. He drew it out quickly, not even bothering to aim...

... and fired.

Guan Yu's armor took most of the damage done to him when Date jabbed at his side, so after he got over the fact that this man... er boy, or whatever he was ((xD)) was so brave and so fast Yu was able to turn just enough to see him drop one of his swords and reach for his waste. Date pulled out a strange looking object and due to what Guan Yu had seen of the wounds of the soldiers who had been shot he could only assume that they came from something like this new weapon. Afterall, who would give up a sword for an object that wasn't a weapon in the middle of battle? Yu quickly rolled left and as he did so he heard a loud BANG. A scorching pain tore through his right ear. Before he knew it blood was spurting out of his ear and he noticed that the top half of it had a good notch taken out of it.

He couldn't let this stop him, after all he had taken wounds before and this was nothing but a painful distraction. As he turned he whipped his glaive around and slashed at Date's left arm, hoping to cut off the hand holding the new weapon and maybe even cut into the small man's body.

((GAH! You actually went through with the ear! gonk ))

Cai looked over at Gan Ning and nodded to him, answering with this: "For now it seems as if we'll just need to keep a tight defense. It wouldn't be good to have you die so quickly, so the best idea would be to wait for when we can let men out." She looked around, her eyes scanning over the soldiers so she could figure out what Gan Ning could occupy himself with now. She didn't know what he was best at, so she couldn't be sure at that moment. "I suppose that staying beside me would be best at the moment.... Do you think that you could think of a way to weaken their defenses, Gan Ning?" Their arrows weren't exactly doing much good so far.

Then she heard a loud "BANG!" noise, something which made her turn her head and glance over the edge. She saw that her uncle's ear was bleeding heavily. Cai moved her head back down, silently hoping that her uncle would be able to protect himself against these alien weapons.

"Defense, eh? Me, die? I can see the worry in the air though, and will stay here to hold down the fort." Ning answered wih a nod. He may be itching for a battle, but he figured out a way to spend his time. " I will stay by your side then, you can trust me to guard your livelihood with my own. Weaken their defenses, that gives me an idea. Do you have any fire or a place to get some? I would also like a couple rocks if soldiers could gather some for me." Ning nodded, thinking of the fun he would have very soon.

s**t! He'd missed his mark. Date cursed, but his curse was cut of into a yelp of pain as Guan Yu's glaive sliced the side of his hand. He dropped the gun, though thankfully the bullet had been used, so the gun was all but worthless now.

He skittered back, keeping out of range of the large man's glaive. His hand was bleeding profusely now, hanging by his side. There was no way he was going to be able to hold anything in it for a while, sword or otherwise. Great. Now he had to fight with one hand against this monster of a man. He'd either have to outthink him or wear him down. He could have always retreated, but such a thought never even crossed Date's mind. Retreat was never an option for him. NEVER.

"You're pretty good," he remarked, not caring that the other man obviously spoke another language and therefore didn't understand a word he spoke. "It's rare to find such a good fight..."
PostPosted: Mon Apr 24, 2006 10:47 pm

Guan Yu couldn't understand the language, but he knew what the little warrior meant. Something about his body language and his tone of voice, along with the look in his eyes. Language wasn't important for what he said. Guan Yu spoke up also, "Such an amazing weapon..." He said as his ear bled all over his green robes and armor. "Your skill with a sword is okay, but your speed and tactfullness with such a strange weapon is amazing. It is fun fighting you, foreigner! But I am afraid that we will have to end this fight soon and you will either die or retreat! Xia Pi will not fall to someone like you!"

He looks worried but also determined. I wonder if he can fight as long as I can? I know one thing, he's no Lu Bu, and I fought with Lu Bu for much longer than this... He thought as he wiped the blood from Blue Dragon and readied for another attack. He looked at Date and noticed another gun on his right side. He would be careful to watch that weapon. As long as he didn't use that weapon Guan Yu would be fine.

Guan Yu jumped back from his opponent and thrust the blade of his glaive into the ground. A thunderous roar bellowed from the depths of Guan Yu's lungs and he cried out in as loud a voice as he could muster, "ROAR, BLUE DRAGON! SHOW HIM YOUR STRENGTH!" He leapt forward, draging the Blue Dragon through the dirt then flung it forward, sending a wave of rocks and dirt toward his enemy. Through the cloud of dust he pulled his weapon back and slashed through the cloud at Date horizontally from the left.

Cai looked over at Gan Ning's statement about the fire and rocks. Rocks shouldn't be a problem, and as for fire.... Her eyes moved over to a few torchers, and even though a few of them were knocked down from those strange, unknown flying objects, several of them were still there. Now her eyes moved back to him, and she quickly nodded. "Yes, we have both." Then another thought came to her mind. Rocks would do good, but if they could somehow be able to use gun powder as well then it could do more damage. But how could she send the gun powder over and then have it explode? Maybe have archers shot small bags of the powder over and then have them hit the same arrows with arrows that were on fire, but how much damage would that be able to do?

"Gan Ning, what would happen if we were to fire small pouches of gun powder with rocks inside of them and made the bags explode by hitting them with other fire arrows?" Cai asked as her brow went together in thought. If that happened, then the force from the exploding gun powder would made the rocks shot out. It would be very painful to get hit by one of those rocks, and depending on how much gun powder was used it could even kill soldiers. But did they even had gun powder, and if so, how much? Well considering that they were struggling with defense, Cai doubted that one of the soldiers would try and advise her against it.

Now she looked over at the soldiers who were mainly running around, either gathering the dead or trying to figure out what to do. "Soldiers! Prepare to pull the torches down from their places and keep the fire and gather rocks and bags of gun powder!"

Cai looked down at Gan Ning again, giving him a small smile. "It sounds like my uncle Yu is almost finished, so hopefully he'll be able to send the commander back before we do anything." She'd remembered that look that Gan Ning had made earlier, it was clear that he wanted to fight. "If they retreat, we should assault them anyway in order to weaken their defenses."

"Good plan, Xing Cai, I'm glad you thought of it because I was just going to hit the oldiers with rocks and figure out what to do with the fire." Gan Ning laughed, he couldn't take any credit for her good idea. "Would you like to help me shoot the arrows, we can alternate the fire arrows and gunpowder arrows together and rain fire down on them. This may not be armed battle, but I've always wanted to see if I can fire some arrows in battle." Gan Ning smiled and heard the last words she said. "Yeah, Guan Yu is to powerful for that midget down there, he'll be down soon knowing Yu." Ning chuckled.

Midget was definately not an understatement. Whoever that person was sure had to have a lot of guts!

Cai removed this from her mind, smiling again while nodding at Gan Ning. "I'm nothing compared to Huang Zhong, but I can still use a bow." Now she turned her head, looking around at the soldiers who were moving around, getting ready just as she had said. "Men! Gather the supplies that I asked for and do it quickly! Guan Yu shouldn't be the only one doing the work out there!"

Xing Cai dared to look over the wall again, getting a quick glance of the enemy fortress and taking a firm mental image in her mind before ducking down again. The soldiers were gathering the supplies and bringing them out, and her eyes moved around, being sure that nothing was missing. A moment later she faced Gan Ning, stepping down beside him while she put her fork on her back. Normally she would have put her shield there too, but she didn't want to put that down until she had to.

"Are you ready?" Cai asked with an almost mischevious look as she grinned. Cai knew for a fact that she would enjoy fighting beside Gan Ning on the battle field. "Soldiers! Take up positions on the walls and keep yourself beneath the wall, and if you are unable to do that then use something to shield yourself! Put some of the rocks into the bags of gun powder and tie them to arrows." With a last turn of her head to the men, she watched them for a second before speaking again. "Follow what this man beside me, Gan Ning, tells you to do!" Even though it may be obvious that Gan Ning was an officer, or at least a body gaurd, she just wanted to be sure that the soldiers wouldn't be hesitant to follow his orders. She took in a deep breath while her eyes moving back to the one she'd just spoken of. When she spoke, her voice was filled with determination and strength, though it still remained even. "Let us prove to these strange invaders that we will not allow ourselves to just be pushed over, Ning. I can almost taste how arrogant they are."
PostPosted: Tue May 09, 2006 7:59 pm

"I didn't expect you to be the famed Hung Zhong, so don't worry. I'm no Xiahou Yuan myself." Ning laughed, "okay, lets get down to business." But he looked at Cai again, and saw her look. "You look ready for some battle I see, guess your just like me in battle, but I can be crazy all the time." Gan Ning fitted his bow with a arrow that weighed down the arrow quite nicely. "They won't be arrogant anymore...." stated Ning, "They'll be dead." Ning laughed loudly as he let the arrow fly.

Cai herself was given a bow and a quiver with arrows, and as Ning brought his bow forward so did she. As he let his arrow fly, she did as well, followed by the soldiers. Normal arrows flew through the air, along with the arrows which had the bags tied down to them. Then soldiers set the tips of the arrows on fire, and those flew through the air as well. While some of the arrows missed their target, the bags that were hit exploded just as Cai had wanted them to do. The rocks shot out, and she could hear people from the other side yelling; along with screams of pain. They must have not expected something like that to happen. Despite the feel of success inside, Cai's face remained indifferent, just focusing on firing her arrows in time. They had to be fired at different times. If the fire arrows were shot too quickly after the arrows with the bags were, then the bags would explode too fast and hurt the Shu soldiers instead.

"It looks like it's working." Cai breathed as she knotched another arrow, taking careful aim before releasing it. More explosions and rocks and cries from the enemies. "Hopefully the tide of battle will be changed now in our favor, Ning."

'Something feels... wrong.' Xing Cai thought softly to herself as her eye brows went together, waiting for the time when she should fire another arrow. Her arrows ready, the string drawn back, only waiting for when she would let it go. '...Even if I am no Zhuge Liang, I feel as if something bad may happen. But-'

Before her thought could even end Cai felt a sharp pain on her hand. Whatever it was ripped strait through the center of her hand, then went into her shoulder. She let out a sharp cry of pain, her bleeding hand letting go of the arrow, which fell to the ground while the string went 'boung!' since as she let it go it was empty. Cai looked down at her hand, shocked to see that the center of her hand had been blown strait through. Her eyes followed to another painful feeling, and she saw another similiar mark on her arm. Cai felt something in her arm, but most of this was blocked out from the pain. She bit her lip but looked forward again, shutting the pain out from her mind. Her hand was throbbing, and as she grabbed her fallen arrow and tried to knotch it the blood that soaked her hand made it slippery. There was even more pain as she drew her arm back, then released the arrow. Her arm was telling her to stop but Cai refused, forcing her hand and arm to stop trembling since it would mess up her aiming. She couldn't stop now, they were just beginning to gain an upper hand. Cai felt her head growing light but still drew her arrow back and fired, planning not to stop until she was unconcious.

Gan Ning was enjoying this, firing constantly at the enemies with many arrows. He looked beside him and saw that Cai was having fun as well, she was really enjoying firing arrows. "I think the tide has gone in our favor now, Cai." said Ning as he gritted his teeth firing arrows rapidly. But, then Gan Ning realized something, Cai hadn't answered him back....

Ning looked down and saw on the ground her fainted body on the ground, with an arrow wound on her shoulder and her hand had a hole through it. Ning instantly dropped his bow quickly and ran over to her body. "Cai! No, you can't be dead, I could never show my face to Shu ever again. More importantly, my new friend will not be here anymore." Ning had a look of sadness on his face never seen before from him. "Men, keep firing these arrows, I must attend to Lady Cai's injuries." He then picked her up quickly and led her down to the medical room after being told directions from a soldier.

He laid her down on a medical bed, and asked for the doctor to attend to her injury. He pulled up a chair to her bedside, and held her hand while waiting patiently, the storms of battle heard overhead.

Unfortunately for Xing Cai, the wound of her hand and arm bled heavily. She hadn't gotten too far before she finally just collasped, her bow falling to the ground. She was still awake, but just faintly. She could hear Gan Ning saying something, followed by more words but those were more urgent. Then she just passed out, not feeling him pick her up and carry her away. Her last thoughts were on her injury, and how she'd should've wrapped it to stop the bleeding. But another part of herself argued that if she had stopped, what would've happened? Too late now, as her thoughts were just bluntly cut off when she seemed to fall into a blanket of sleep.

Cai did wake up, though her head was sore along with her hand and arm. That strange object that had been in her arm seemed to be gone. She didn't feel it buried in her flesh.

Only one word moved through her mind: Lucky.

Now she opened her eyes, but just barely. She knew that she needed to keep her strength, but she opened them farther until she could see what was around her. Then she spotted Ning, sitting there beside her, holding her hand. There would sounds of the battle continuing above, and she'd wished that she hadn't been wounded.

"...You should be... out there...." Xing Cai told Ning in a sleepy voice, the hand which he was holding moving as her fingers twitched; trying to squeeze his hand but failing. She gave him a small smile, before closing her eyes. "I'll... be fine...." She just now hoped that once the battle was over, her father wouldn't lose his mind over her getting hurt. Namely because she didn't want him to blame Gan Ning. Whatever had hit her were those strange invisible seeming... rocks? That was as close as she could get, and it was her best guess since it hadn't been an arrow. Then she was pulled back into sleep, though this time she allowed herself to. Cai couldn't possibly do anything now, and even if she could keep herself awake it would be pointless since all that she could do was lay there.
