__ Amber hues of the sun setting brought a warm glow to the Land of Fire's countryside. She rarely came this far from home, but it was always this particular sight that made the nation quite pleasant. She often wondered if it was this warmth that was actually the reason for the nation's namesake despite its flourishing forestry and rolling hills. Without a doubt, it lacked the glory of her homeland's peerless mountains or the unique scent of their summer rains, but it was probably worth calling home all the same. Her admiring gaze moved from the beyond the canopies draped over their paths back to her commanding officer when finally found his voice. "Yes, I agree. The Land of Fire is quite remarkable." She didn't know if the silent march had worn him away or if he needed something to get his mind off the troubles surrounding Arashi of late. Regardless, she knew she could be supportive of a conversation so rarely distant from matters of the APD.
However, only a few things needed to be said before things took a very unexpected turn. "Captain...?" She knew he wasn't necessarily trying to be professional right now, but they were in uniform and on an assignment so she'd still maintain proper designations even as she found herself a little confused by comparing the night sky of this nation to that a village such as Gimangakure. Although, she had only seen that village during war time as they operated to remove any remaining traces of the Kogarashi insurgents. She almost didn't connect the dots, but her training as an officer and natural attention to detail made it pretty hard to miss. 'Did he say barred?' She was sure he said so. Hearing him talk in such a philosophical manner was quite strange, but somehow a new side of him that was nearly as endearing his protective tendencies. Ada merely smiled when she pictured a young Kenshin wishing upon the stars above to act as sentinels in an assumed chaotic childhood. Mention of Evergreen as the accepted truth did momentarily derail the scene, but she accepted his words as his own rather than that of beliefs in the largely unknown.
Ada looked back to the sky during that moment of pause and she mumbled in reiteration, "Sentinels, huh?" Creatively, she felt this concept ping with aching inspiration. Could such a thing be realized by simple mortal hands? Did they have the means and not realize it, or would it take effort? If Ada were honest, she hoped it were the latter of the two. By this point she was smile quite gladly at her imagination running it's course with none other than Kenshin as its source. However, this smile was blown apart as he dropped an affirming bombshell into the fray. She never much questioned his pronounced Hyuuga lineage, or even asked him... about himself. There was rarely an opportunity and work always seemed to take precedence even over those moments. 'Kenshin. Perhaps I was just overeager. It wouldn't be possible after all...' Her expression became saddened. In fact, she was somewhat crushed. This would likely be mistakenly attributed to the story she'd just witnessed. "Sensei...?" Vala leaned in with a concerned whisper, unintentionally partaking in that small flurry of feelings. "It is fine, Vala." Ada dismissively shook her head and re-centered herself immediately.
Looking back to Kenshin once more she'd finally give an intellectual reply, "Captain, I'm honored that you would share so much of yourself with us. Truly. You've made quite a lot out of yourself to have come from such a despairing place." Saying that she was impressed or offering her sympathy almost felt like insults. Kenshin knew that he was strong, or at least she hoped he knew this. While he may not be the most charismatic person she knew, he was honest and forthright in his belief of justice and all that it entailed. It was sometimes hard for her to hide her admiration, and knowing his story only brought up a quote she believed she rejected when it was read. 'To burn with desire and keep quiet about it is the greatest punishment we can bring on ourselves. Curse you, Lorca.' The thought was dispersed and left to wander into her own past. "It's only right that... I tell you about myself too. I grew up in the previous imperial city of the Land of Lightning, Tenraisho, since I was young. The noble Rio family adopted me out of poverty in hopes of me becoming a central member of the imperial court." She closed her eyes and restrained a frown from overtaking her barely middling expression. "I do suppose I have accomplished that for them..." Her head hung slightly, "Although, thankfully under Emperor Shiro's rule instead." At times she questioned if she were right to oppose her family as she had been for the last few years after being an integral accomplice to their rise in authority in the Land of Floods. Had it not been for Shiro's presence, the Rio family may very well have attempted to put her on the very throne if it meant they would all benefit from it. "Admittedly, I never wanted any of that. I know there is much more good that I can do elsewhere..." It was almost surreal to think that her goals had been accomplished and departed from in only the last seven years of her life. Many had acknowledged her from around much of the world over. Precious friends and distant strangers all made a point of putting her on a pedestal and she failed to object even once. Now... she had almost everything she could ever want in life. She could nearly taste freedom, but doubts made her steps heavier lately.
Yarugi casually slowed down to meet Zeshin's pace at the back of the group. Vala was too busy attending to Ada, and Ada was too busy listening to Kenshin to bother with him either. It was perfect! "So... it sounds like some big stuff is happening. Not that I know much about it either..." He raised his arms up and lowered his hands to rest at the base of his skull. "Think you can handle this, rookie?" Zeshin didn't acknowledge him on the ride down off the flying city so this was pretty fair in his book. If the kid was too much like Vala or way more annoying than anticipated then he'd just leave him to his fate. However, something made Yarugi feel like the kid deserved more attention than he was getting from the rest of the adults. He knew he was an a*****e and didn't do his job as well as or in the way others wanted him to; but he couldn't let this one slide so easily for whatever reason.

It didnβt take much for others to reach out to him in moments like this. He seemed to be the one who was poked at the more he followed his orders, but such a thing hadnβt affected him any on the outside. His facial expression didnβt show any kind of movement other than his mouth which moved the curves of his eyes as he spoke. βI take all of my assignment seriously. That is what it means to be a shinobi and a member of the APD. The fact that the captain did not respond to me simply means that it is not within my assignment to understand the situation beforehand. I have no problems with that.β
However, the push went a bit further with a question about if he could handle things with the assignment. He nodded his head gently as they kept walking. βIβll perform to the best of my skill level. Iβm sure the captain would not have brought me along had he believed I was incapable. If things go above my current skill level, I will either force myself to get better or I will obey the next order and follow it without question.β His eyes diverted from the path to the side with a glare towards the Yarugi person as if he wished to say more, but his eyes quickly changed to what appeared to be a smile and his mouth curved slightly. Then he faced back towards the road and returned his facial expression to itsβ neutral positioning.
βTo answer your earlier question: Yes, I am Zeshin. It is a ... pleasure to meet you.β
__ Well well, wasn't he such a decisive runt? Yarugi shrugged after introductions and such were settled. "Pleasure's all mine." He thought back to the battle with Sandayu and how Kenshin effectively led everyone and minimized casualties with just his quasi-godly power and skills. Looking ahead to the others for a moment he'd somewhat begrudgingly admit, "Well, at least you're in good hands. Not like you're gonna end up a sacrificial pawn or something. Nobody here would let that happen..." His voiced trailed as he remembered that time that those fools actually sent him to die. They didn't want anything more than some bought time from him and didn't expect him to survive. Sure, he got lucky in the end, but that didn't change his understanding of those in power. Others had proven time and time again that they were capable of losing sight of the little guys they bossed around while dealing with the bigger pictures they were so concerned about. Yarugi looked back to Zeshin and let a bit of cynicism shine through a half-assed hopeful remark, "That's not always how it is. Still, you seem smart so just keep your wits about you and things should be alright." For a moment, he saw Vala look back to obviously check on him and he just gave her a s**t-eating grin and smirked. He had a feeling Zeshin might turn into a hard-assed, bottom-liner like a lot of the people he fought for, but he had some hope that maybe he could be a rarity in a new generation who didn't stop asking questions and always tried to do right by everyone instead of a few invested parties. So far... only Ada had earned that level of respect from him- not that he felt anyone needed to care.

Zeshin didnβt see the one speaking to him after the single glance. He heard only words and reacted as such. βSituations change all the time and Iβll be as prepared as I can. Thanks for the heads up.β It wasnβt much to say, but the silence was awkward and they had been walking for a while now. It was almost annoying how long it was taking.
Kojiro moved to the right of Kenshin, walking through the dark with sound confidence of his next step, trusting his teacher's ocular abilities to guide him. Kenshin opened up, speaking of his nights in Gimangakure. Kojiro reflected to his own childhood brielfly. What he looked up to in the night wasn't a star, it was visions of Kenshin, Ada, Selina and even Hachiro and especially his little sister Emiko who'd given her life to protect his family. The heroes who'd saved his village. He had looked up to the man who was now the Sentinel who watched over the land of lightning. Meanwhile, Ada had spoken up. She had began to share her experiences. What she had come from, being adopted into the Rio family and her path being set before her as a member of the imperial court. Kojiro felt as though Miss Ada had been set on a path that was predetermined, which he could understand her feelings of longing for another path, more personal course. His ears alerted him to Zeshin's footsteps as he moved in silence alongside Yarugi and Vala for a short while before they began to converse....Kojiro felt as though he was too wrapped into his own head to open the door to conversation with him...not yet. He had to clear his head.
Finally, the time had come with the silence that filled the cool night air with the lead party. He had to speak now, didn't he? He felt somewhat at ease with the rather candid openness of the two he was moving alongside. " I...worked the fields with dad in the morning. I stoked the forge with ma' into the night... I never wanted much more than that. Not at first. Then...that day...." he paused, letting the group who was present that day in Seizan fill in the empty night air with the events he referred to. "...that day. When my family was saved thanks to the KPD... I knew that I wanted to bring that sense of safety to others..." He paused again, this time, his face soured, reviling at the thoughts that had plagued his mind recently." What I had never thought about though...was how to deal with those who did those terrible things and what was...deserved. " he turned his bright green eyes to the side, wondering what was deserved. What was "Just" for those terrible, evil people who slaughtered his entire village. What was "fair" for Antioch? He had killed several people without doubt and had done just as much evil as any of the UHV soldiers.

β±β°β±Kenshin felt a shock to his system when Ada spoke of her noble pedigree. She was adopted into the famously noble Rio family. He felt as though she was almost like a mirror image of him in this regard. She was of low birth until she was adopted and Kenshin was of high birth until he was de-legitimized. And yet they both seemed to follow similar paths. However, this shock to his system rendered him feeling unworthy of her. He fell silent as he tried to process the fact that he could never rightfully ask for her hand. The captain rubbed the back of his neck and looked down at the ground before turning his head to Kojiro. He knew that his pupil's experience as a result of Seizan had a profound impact on many of his motivations. When he mentioned that he struggled with determining what was truly just Kenshin stopped and considered his statement further. It was a central subject of much of his meditation through the tenseigan, sage arts, and Reiken no Michi. These experiences made him more insightful and less brutally reactionary as a result of his suppressed rage. "Take comfort in the fact that you're a man who walks the righteous path, Kojiro. When I was rejected by the Hyuga clan I chose a new name that would remind me of the path each day. Kosei means righteous forbearance, basically, to give to others what is due to them. The greatest failure in our world is when people walk the other path and don't pay the price. Wide is the path that leads to destruction and narrow is the righteous gate. Never forget that." Kenshin kept walking but raised his gaze from Kojiro back to the stars above. Although his immense field of vision did not require it, he was mindful to do so to at least mimic regular human range of vision for conversational purposes. "The stars know their place in the sky, each returns and is always the same. They silently and assuredly guide us and allow us to navigate. Some people say that nature is chaotic and man orders it, but nature has laws as well. I don't think you need to be a sage to be connected. All that we have control over is our own minds, realize this and strength and virtue will follow." The sage spoke further insights to both of them and did not single either out in particular. Once he was able to process what Ada had said he would begin to speak. He turned his gaze from the stars to her's and was inspired by the starlight reflected in her eyes. He tried to control the feeling of his heart swelling knowing that it was in vain. "I was born outside of society's great gate. I could've either wallowed in the chaos with the degenerates around me or I could guard the walls. I don't think I've ever been fully allowed through the gate." Kenshin hoped that his metaphor made sense but it was the best way that he could describe his experiences. He had never felt comfortable in his own skin as an illegitimate member of society, at least in his own view. And now his own lesser existence was restraining him from pursuing the first woman that he ever has ever admired. Perhaps Ada would understand that aspect of what he was referring to, but he doubted it. This tension could be felt by him just beneath the surface. "When you were adopted did you think that you didn't belong in that way? That's what I experience as a watchman." Kenshin became anxious that he may have over-reached in his question but he was curious.

This concussive blast has a range of five feet per rank of the parent technique. Those within the area of the blast have a knock-back effect applied if their body rank is lower than the parent technique. In addition, deafness is applied upon impact for two posts. β’ Tsunami of Justice | Kenshin gains access to the water element. β’ Ionic Blade | The user's bukijutsu and basic combat weapon strikes may be made complex to add their lightning element to the attacks. This causes tiered paralysis on contact equal to the rank of the technique it is paired with. β’ Blessings of Valor | As a world-famous hero, you are forever bestowed with an extra reward in arc, timeskip, and guildwide events. β’ Short-Circuiting Juken | For an additional amount of chakra that is half of the amount spent for the original technique, Hatake chidori raiton can be applied to complex juken techniques to inject the enemy's body with lightning. The Hatake's chidori raiton inflicts a tier of full-body paralysis that is equivalent to the technique's rank up to the second tier. This paralysis lasts for two posts per rank of the technique at a maximum of six posts. Applying Chidori chakra to the Juken consumes a second offensive activation. β’ Storm Sage | Lightning techniques cast while in sage mode and when enhanced by nature chakra burn brighter and inflict a tier of blindness that is equivalent to the technique's rank. This blindness lasts for two posts per rank of the technique at a maximum of six posts. β’ Stern Spirit | Reiken no Michi virtue states cost one rank less in stamina to activate and maintain. The stamina cost of the virtue states cannot be reduced beyond this.
Nuibari Attributes β’ Infinite Needles | While Nuibari functions perfectly fine as a long, thin blade that sits between a Jian and a Foil. It's comprised of infinite, instantly replenishing needles. If an opponent is stabbed, the blade will leave several needles inside of the opponent. It also never runs out of string either, with one at the base of the weapon, and one attached to each needle. Similarly, unhindered, the weapon always comes back when thrown for the techniques below, and can be pulled to the user free of activation via its wire so long as the nigh-invisible string is not cut. β’ Thread the Needle | This skill increases the speed of the wielder moderately while Nuibari is wielded.

The katana and rapier forms are the same size and constructed of the same materials. Getsuruito was considered a legendary artifact by the people of Seizan as it was wielded by an ancient general. When the rusted blade was awarded by the locals to Kenshin Kosei he discovered that it had the unique ability to merge with and empower one other weapon. When the katana was reworked to its fullest potential it had the abilities of his own weapon in addition to incredible lightning abilities. β° Ability Summary: Righteous Sword of the Sentinel [ Senchineru no Seigi no Ken ] | Rank E | Bloodline | Spiritual All forms of Hyuuga techniques including the gentle fist can be used through the sword for the 10 posts that this technique is active. This means that strikes involving the blade cause physical damage including stab wounds as well as seal tenketsu points and any other effects of the technique used through the sword. An additional 5 chakra can be applied to the blade to prevent it from causing physical damage from thrusting but instead seal tenketsu points and inflict pain similar to a stab wound in the area struck but slashing attacks can still cause damage. Half the resource cost of techniques from the rapier style of Sen Gekiretsu Nagareboshi applied allows the technique to carry the tenketsu sealing effects of a same-rank palm strike such as a B-Rank carrying 64 Palms effects. Getsuruito must be in its rapier form to use this ability and 5 chakra can be spent upon activation of this technique to transform it as such. The Righteous Sword of the Sentinel technique has a 10 post duration before necessitating re-activation and costs an E-Rank amount of chakra. The initial activation of this technique consumes an action but all subsidiary abilities of the technique do not.
Smiting Blade of the Night Watch [ NaitΕ Otchi no SumittinguburΔdo ] | Rank X | Bukijutsu [ Lightning ] | Spiritual When this technique is activated it crackles violently with night blue lightning for the entire duration. The electricity from the blade also forms bolts of lightning over the body of the user and appears to supercharge them. Whenever the blade is swung or thrust over the duration the user can fire a concentrated blast of ten bolts of lightning to accompany the strike equal to the rank applied but for only half the cost to initiate the technique. Hatake, Raiu, and Sage enhanced lightning can pass through the blade and apply to these lightning bolts. The bolts cause a thunderously deafening sonic boom and can inflict tier 2 burns upon direct contact with the lightning. Additionally, these lightning bolts can be freely applied to all complex bukijutsu for no action cost to smite enemies. The only action cost is when the technique is activated and all subsidiary abilities of the technique do not consume actions and only chakra. This ability can be used in both forms of Getsuruito.
Draconic Sabre of Moon Sundering [ Getsu Sandaringu no Dorakonikku SeibΔ ] | Rank X | Bukijutsu [ Lightning ] | Complex This is the original ability of the ancient Getsuruito blade and thus requires the original katana form. 5 chakra can be spent to transform the blade to its original form upon activation of this technique. Crackling and thunderous dark blue lightning can be applied to the katana's edge at any rank and the same lightning can form a dragon head formed from electricity over the body of the user for 10 posts. This allows all spiritual techniques the sword comes into contact with to be slashed through and even cut in half at the same rank despite the complex nature of the technique. For half of the original cost to activate the technique a same-rank spiritual electrical energy slash can be sent out from the slash of the blade. This same cost can be applied to any complex bukijutsu to achieve the same effect. The original 10 post activation of this ability consumes an action but all subsidiary abilities do not.

__ Her thoughts had begun to wander for a few moments until she remembered that Kojiro was surely next to speak of himself. Immediately she felt a bracing anxiety well up in the base of her throat just moments before he began to speak. It all seemed so modest and simple- respectable, in fact. But somehow it almost felt like he was trying to make it that much easier to relive her first war. The bold and foolish decision she made to weaken the invading UHV forces before the fight began. Her time hiding in that hole with Hachiro and his dead sister while hoping that nothing else happened. If anything had happened then they would surely have been captured, or worse. It was no simple struggle to escape once her trap was triggered. What was left of Seizan was brought to nearly nothing, and leading Hachiro past the UHV soldiers in the confusion was the purest test of her as a newly appointed chuunin.
Thankfully, the memory no longer than a few quiet, deep breaths. His praise for the fight of Kumogakure's brave was appreciated, even if incorrectly attributed specifically to the KPD.She managed to smile, her eyes turning up toward the darkening sky. The stars which Kenshin spoke of prior were much brighter now in contrast to the dark magenta and purple hues which dragged the night upon the land. Her eyes wandered from the scenic overhead to Vala, then Yarugi and Zeshin, and finally back to Kenshin when he spoke again. Her smile settled as Kenshin continued to praise his beloved pupil. No, the captain wouldn't phrase it in such a way, but it was more than obvious that Kenshin had a soft spot for Kojiro. It wasn't hard to understand the metaphors slung about in such rapid succession. Honestly, she still couldn't make out her opinions on the spiritualistic side of the man, but she could appreciate how dedicated he was to it. However, she failed to feel what he meant. She couldn't comprehend how justice and the natural order of the world could be so closely associated. The domains of gods were simply beyond her scope of understanding, unless it was a matter of logical dissection. Still, her eyes moved back to the stars for a while and she stared admiringly upon them. Kenshin's idea from before began to reform as she considered the obstacles to achieve a concept like stellar sentinels. Vala quietly kept a few paces behind Ada, listening but avoiding to interrupt her superiors partaking in such an intimate moment of camaraderie. "Mn." Yarugi grunted with a nod to Zeshin, figuring that conversation was dead in the water for now. The kid seemed fine so he'd just keep an eye on him like the rest probably were.
Feeling his eyes upon her, never minding his semi-omniscience, Ada happened to meet Kenshin's gaze just as he spoke to her. She was quiet and visibly calm as he seemed to attempt to justify himself. 'You do not have to- I'm sorry, Ken-chan.' Immediately, she felt a deep pang of guilt ring throughout her being. Ada realized that if she hadn't mentioned her family then he might not feel obligated. She knew he was more than worthy of her, but it would not pacify her family to elope under these circumstances. Ada also knew that she couldn't simply not say anything to ease the man's own visible doubts. But, it suddenly turned back to her. "Did I... belong?" She didn't even realize that she mumbled this reiteration aloud. Her expression subtly imploded. Her walk slowed and so Vala attentively did as well. She knew little of what could come of such a question. As charismatic and capable as the woman was, her life was largely a mystery to most. What was said about herself in the last many minutes was more than she'd learned of her idol in the last six years. Sighing, Ada recovered her pace and answered, "No... I was made to believe I belonged until I never resisted anymore. Looking back... I see the irony of what I specialize in. I was a puppet. Enslaved to their whims and propensity to see them realized to the best of my supposedly peerless skill." She could feel it, her anger and frustration coming to boil. Ada wouldn't lose her calm if she could avoid it. She breathed deeply and apologized while looking directly upon Kenshin, "I am sorry." Ada's attention precisely moved to the starlight dirt road they trailed on, "It took too long for me to realize when I didn't belong. That's all." She forgot to reassure Kenshin despite her self control. In general, her past was simply riddled with difficulties that she was still only learning how to work through. It was just easier to work than think about them.

The moral question that Kojiro had proposed, his ramblings of self reflection that he had widely expected to be reprimanded for....would widely go supported by his teacher. Kenshin reassured him that he walked the righteous path. This alone added to his conviction to deliver justice at any cost. If he was on the correct path then he would be able to see the correct actions to do to maintain moral high ground, right? Further guiding Kojiro on this path, Kenshin told him the meaning behind his surname. Righteous forbearance, giving what is due to someone. Kenshin's words, his guidance would resonate with Kojiro as affirmation of his new stance. The price had to be paid, no matter how steep it may be.' If the path is wide and the gate is narrow... who stands at the door to determine the worthy?` he thought to himself. He would refrain from asking this question as though he were afraid to learn the answer, but in him mind, he knew it had to be them. It had to be him. He had to maintain the peace. In order to do that, justice needed to be executed flawlessly. The pieces of what he must become were becoming clear. ' Maintain the peace...deliver justice.'he thought to himself again. He had sworn an oath to enforce the law and protect the citizens. Those who disobeyed the law and endangered the citizens stood in opposition of everything that the held sacred. Everything his heroes valued even. Perhaps Kenshin did not feel welcomed into society because he was expected to carry out deeds to fulfill his oath that required weighty decisions and taxed the way others viewed him. Keepers of the Peace and those who would deliver justice could not be hailed as the heroes that Kojiro imagined they might be, but respected from a distance, as they stood outside the narrow gate, centered upon the wide path.

Raikiri is considered a Chidori Variant technique. Only techniques with the name [Chidori] or [Raikiri] are effected by this PA. β’ Hatake Fury | Bloodline and Raiton techniques have their chakra cost reduced by five per rank of the technique and gain an additional 4 Ninjutsu slots for raiton techniques. Your ninjutsu are not mirrored per element, but you gain an additional 3 Ninjutsu per rank up. Also allows for one handed seals. {The Overwhelming Trait does not apply to anything above S} β’ Mystic Hero [ Bukijutsu ] | The user has become adept at blending their ninjutsu and bukijutsu. The user is able to cast ninjutsu from their weapon without the use of hand signs by simply pointing the tip or blade in the direction desired to launch the technique. This requires the same amount of time as the forming of hand signs to cast ninjutsu. They are also able to Korabo 1 ninjutsu and 1 bukijutsu at their body rank and below for a single activation every 3 posts. The walk grew silent after Zeshin brushed off the one speaking to him. Thoughts flooded his head and a scenario that had taken place played before his eyes again. The nerve.. he thought to himself as it ended and started again. It wasn't until the lieutenant, Kojiro, spoke up that Zeshin snapped back into the present and looked ahead at the group. He listened to his words and followed along. Protection for another at any cost. Saving another life is the most important thing for a shinobi. One life in exchange for another is the ultimate sacrifice, but it is also the grandest accomplishment for anyone to be granted. If you could exchange your life for several, you'd have fulfilled more than what you were placed in the living world for. But Kojiro spoke more and Zeshin followed along with his words again, mentally. Deserved? He pondered to himself for a moment. He even brought his left hand up to his face and rubbed his chin. Anyone who would try and take the life of an innocent person has already given up their own to whatever motive they have. Those who have taken that path are already dead inside. Their bodies might as well be dealt with in a way that doesn't harm anyone else around them. Zeshin would continue this way of thinking until the captain spoke up.
As he listened to the captain, his eyes narrowed and his hand dropped to his side. To give others what is due to them? Does he think of himself as some kind of a god? There is no telling where that kind of thought process would take someone, or give them a level of permission that isn't owed to them... But the captain would continue and would speak on things that sounded more than ridiculous to Zeshin. Although he showed no outward sign of discomfort, he felt a sensation in his body almost like his blood could have been boiling. He raised his left hand up and covered his eyes as he was walking, but soon let it back down to his side again. To belong, to have purpose, is a choice everyone makes in their own life. If someone doesn't give you that purpose, then you leave. You find your own purpose. What a.. Zeshin trailed off again before slapping both sides of his face and returning to his normal stature and poise. That line of thought was going somewhere he knew it should never. He had a final question for his inner thoughts, but he would bury it deep down. The task at hand did not need questioning. However, something kept nagging at him from the inside. It felt like a voice of someone who had did not know. It asked him if the orders he was following were dictated by the highest authority or if they were personal agendas that desired personal feelings. His eyes narrowed again with a look that could almost spell out hatred, but faded away quickly.
β±β°β±The tension mounted as Ada responded and Kojiro remained silent. Kenshin continued walking forward, ever forward, with his eyes now returning to the forests. They were now significantly closer to their objective and he focused on that object. He quietly walked after Ada spoke and allowed the tension to sit rather than trying to fight it with frustration as he did when he assumed her perspective after he began following Evergreen five years ago. Kenshin found comfort in the natural order and that there was a divine authority vested in a god. That structure was reassuring to a man who dedicated his life to fighting chaos. He valued Ada's opinion of him immensely as she was once his superior and reliably persisted as someone to admire as a truly just individual. In his professional interactions with her he had come to appreciate and rely on her skepticism and rationality. Once he worked up the nerve to speak through his anxiety induced by the possibility that he upset her he spoke resolutely. "That's a heavy burden but to bear that as worthily as you have has built your strength. Whatever stands in your way will become the way, but you'll conquer it." Although Kenshin did not directly state an apology, his serious tone had a clear twinge that indicated it. He would not push the issue any further, but this was his way of encouraging her. He believed that her long history of virtuous valor would allow her to conquer all of her challenges. Kenshin politely placed his hands behind his back as he continued his march but he still felt the brunt of the amount that he left unsaid. He found that he said what he needed to express philosophically and religiously for now so he would refrain for the time being especially given how quiet the conversation was becoming. "No good act absolves the bad, nor a bad the good. Our enemies have made our nation bleed and that won't be pardoned. Antioch's time will come, all their times will come." His mind turned back to the difficulties that were ahead. Antioch was out there and the sooner Selina was secured the sooner they could return to hunting him. Kenshin turned his head around to the silent cadet walking behind him. "Cadet. I have an answer for your question now." Despite the amount of time that elapsed, he did not forget the unanswered question. While it was true that all questions could only be answered to a subordinate in their rightful time, he recognized that it was also his duty to guide his pupil. Kenshin waved his hand indicating for Zeshin to join him, Ada, and Kojiro at the front of the pack. "Five years ago, when the Kogarashi war ended, I was told by the Arashikage that we were to secede from the lightning empire. The empire that we fought for in the previous war. I was an advisor at that time and wasn't consulted, which did me great dishonor. I resigned from my post, which Lieutenant Kanzaki now holds, and hadn't spoken to the Arashikage in person since then until now. He's the Arashikage and I'm his highest ranking shinobi and it's my duty to advise him in a law enforcement capacity when there's a security threat to the village. Although I find many of his decisions foolish, I must be stalwart in my service to him and I expect the same from you, cadet." Although it was clear that Toso did not follow the same code as Kenshin, he knew that he was bound by law and honor to continue to loyally serve the Arashikage. Even if his orders from the kage were foolish, the only way for the village to operate properly is for the chain of command to be respected. "Arashikage Hojo fought in the same war as we did and was instrumental in founding the village. My respect in him personally may one day match my respect for his title if he begins to do honor by our village but the stains of his dishonor can never be washed out. I also possess no desire for his position, but if it fell to me then I wouldn't make decisions out of flights of fancy as he has. At times, loyal service means telling hard truths." Kenshin spoke confidently despite being conflicted by his lack of respect for the Arashikage himself but utmost loyalty to his title that held immense importance. He was no usurper and had no interest in undermining him for personal gain. Without a doubt, he would guard Toso's interest for the continuation of the village's righteous regime. These were values he wanted Zeshin to consider.

In addition, should they unlock the Tenseigan, they may have 50% less reserves to maintain it than other clan members and may also activate the Tenseigan without the use of a hand seal, chakra cost, or activation. β’ Physical Prowess | The Hyuuga gains a [2] point increase in any stat after mastering stage 3 of the gentle fist and another [2] points after mastering stage 6 for a total of [4] rather than [2]. In addition, deafness is applied upon impact for two posts. β’ Tsunami of Justice | Kenshin gains access to the water element. β’ Ionic Blade | The user's bukijutsu and basic combat weapon strikes may be made complex to add their lightning element to the attacks. This causes tiered paralysis on contact equal to the rank of the technique it is paired with. β’ Blessings of Valor | As a world-famous hero, you are forever bestowed with an extra reward in arc, timeskip, and guildwide events. β’ Short-Circuiting Juken | For an additional amount of chakra that is half of the amount spent for the original technique, Hatake chidori raiton can be applied to complex juken techniques to inject the enemy's body with lightning. The Hatake's chidori raiton inflicts a tier of full-body paralysis that is equivalent to the technique's rank up to the second tier. This paralysis lasts for two posts per rank of the technique at a maximum of six posts. Applying Chidori chakra to the Juken consumes a second offensive activation. β’ Storm Sage | Lightning techniques cast while in sage mode and when enhanced by nature chakra burn brighter and inflict a tier of blindness that is equivalent to the technique's rank. This blindness lasts for two posts per rank of the technique at a maximum of six posts. β’ Stern Spirit | Reiken no Michi virtue states cost one rank less in stamina to activate and maintain. The stamina cost of the virtue states cannot be reduced beyond this.
Nuibari Attributes β’ Infinite Needles | While Nuibari functions perfectly fine as a long, thin blade that sits between a Jian and a Foil. It's comprised of infinite, instantly replenishing needles. If an opponent is stabbed, the blade will leave several needles inside of the opponent. It also never runs out of string either, with one at the base of the weapon, and one attached to each needle. Similarly, unhindered, the weapon always comes back when thrown for the techniques below, and can be pulled to the user free of activation via its wire so long as the nigh-invisible string is not cut. β’ Thread the Needle | This skill increases the speed of the wielder moderately while Nuibari is wielded.
Discipline & Cross Class Attributes β’ Expert: Rapier | The user has achieved a sense of mastery and focus unlike others and are known as an Expert, a dedicated focus over a weapon they use to near perfection. The shinobi can pick a single weapon, or two if dual wielding, to apply this focus toward with examples such as Katana, Spear, Bows or even Dual Daggers. They acquire a Keystone technique that is unique to them with an additional 2 Custom Techniques derived of this special ability. Refer to the Keystone Guideline for more information. They gain a [+1] boost to both speed and agility & techniques cost [5] less Chakra and/or Stamina per rank of the technique when wielding attacks with their specialized weapon in attack or defense. β’ Mystic Hero | The user has become adept at blending their ninjutsu and bukijutsu. The user is able to cast ninjutsu from their weapon without the use of hand signs by making any flourish or deliberate movement to cast the technique in the direction the weapon is commanded. This requires the same amount of time as the forming of hand signs to cast ninjutsu. They are also able to Korabo 1 ninjutsu and 1 bukijutsu together with varying cool downs for a single activation. Smiting Blade of the Night Watch [ NaitΕ Otchi no SumittinguburΔdo ] | Rank X | Bukijutsu [ Lightning ] | Spiritual When this technique is activated it crackles violently with night blue lightning for the entire duration. The electricity from the blade also forms bolts of lightning over the body of the user and appears to supercharge them. Whenever the blade is swung or thrust over the duration the user can fire a concentrated blast of ten bolts of lightning to accompany the strike equal to the rank applied but for only half the cost to initiate the technique. Crackling and thunderous dark blue lightning can be applied to the katana's edge at any rank and the same lightning can form a dragon head formed from electricity over the body of the user for 10 posts. __ Kenshin's condolences did bring some solace to her troubled heart. She didn't want an apology. It was her choice to say what she had and the consequences of her words were her own. Even so, it was a small relief to be understood. Her eyes closed for a moment as she remembered her mentor's smile and a pleasant memory where she had been similarly consoled and reassured. 'Masami... Kenshin...' As she reopened her eyes she looked to Kenshin and smiled appreciatively to him, "Thank you, Captain." Her attention the stars at the nearing horizon while he spoke in general then to Zeshin specifically.
The edges Yarugi's brows twitched as he restrained a surprised reaction to the captain directly addressing the supposedly forgotten question from before. A late answer was better than none, sometimes. Ada always refrained from speaking of the politics around the Arashikage, reminding them that their duty was to follow orders that protected lives and supported our fellow guardians of those unable to protect themselves. 'Well well well. What a pretty way to say it? I guess it's okay since he's kinda the avatar of justice and whatever.' Normally, Yarugi's cynicism would be more intense for someone in a position of power complaining about their own superiors. However, he was there with the rest of the vanguard while Kenshin was enforcing his convictions against the Kogarashi forces. The captain was a pretty tolerable leader, even in his skewed book. Vala, admittedly, was rather bothered about the division between Arashigakure and the Emperor's rule. To run away from all the lives sacrificed in the UHV war and hide in the skies was... wrong. She couldn't bring herself to voice such an opinion. Vala lacked the bravery of those who had done so much more than she. It was enough to learn to emulate one like Ada so that she could become what she wanted most as serving blade of peace and security for the empire. As long as a tether of understanding could be maintained with Arashigakure, the nation was surely secure. Even so, Shiro had done well to prepare an alternative means of protecting the nation if the ninja village became unavailable- or an enemy.
Mention of Toso reminded Ada of a message she was asked to share with Kenshin upon departing the Spire. Of course, she waited until his advice and the imparted details were all given to Zeshin first. "Captain. I was given a message from the Arashikage just before we left. He asked that I make you aware that you will have the support of available extra personnel to assist in the the Antioch Case." Finishing the imperative part of this message, she found herself dwelling on the hint of regret in the rest of Toso's words. "Also... I believe that the Arashikage would prefer to rectify the troubled relations between the village's leadership." Her gaze momentarily wandered past Kenshin to Kojiro who was the appointed Advisor of Internal Affairs. This was technically his jurisdiction, but she felt it right to give her own advice in his stead, "I apologize if I am overstepping my station... but I think you two should actually talk things out when the opportunity arises." She partially wondered if coming on this assignment was the right course of action. If the village were suffering from terrorist attacks on the leylines then she could only hope that it meant the Arashikage had secured the breaches for the time being. Given her expertise, she could have surely been assisting with repairs or even enhancing the security of such integral parts of the flying village. The thought of the village falling, literally, was a horrifying worst-case scenario.

After the captain called him over, and before Ada had begun to give her report, Zeshin would take in all that the captain had said as they walked. Even now, with an explanation, he felt as though he could not understand the situation. However, he understood one thing above the rest: the conflict he saw was based on the captain. There would be no way for the young Uchiha to understand the Arashikage's motives for what he did and from only one side it painted their leader in a faded light. Zeshin nodded his head slowly and responded: "I see... Thank you, sir." But he could not say that he understood to the one who had explained things from their point of view.
Orders came from those with authority and Zeshin had learned for most of his young life that orders were made to be followed. What he took from the answer to his earlier question was that the captain had rather resign from his authority than obey a direct order from the highest station of the Arashikage. The young boy would maintain his composure and continue to walk with the group, but have an internal conflict on things. Nevertheless, he thought, I won't allow my personal conflictions to affect my performance or my mindset. I will deal with this another time. He took a deep breath, nodding once again, and slowly faded back into the group following from behind.
As they all walked, Ada began to give the captain and lieutenant Kojiro a message from the Arashikage and her opinion on the situation. Her words were more gentle than mine would have been, he quickly thought as she finished her last statement. Zeshin's eyes would return to Yarugi for but a moment as he took it to consider the earlier words of if he could handle this or not and then shift back to the group before him. Maybe he also has an issue with how this leadership appears. Maybe I should apologize...

He nodded in agreement as Ada informed him that his request of the Arashikage was fully provided. He was unsure what the benefit of "patching up" with the Arashikage would be considering that he was already willing to fully coordinate with him since he was now planning to commit the necessary resources. He then listened to Kojiro corroborate Ada's point with his own perspective. "Excellent, with the additional ANBU coordination our detectives can sleuth out wherever that serpent is hiding. In exchange, the APD administration should dedicate a surplus of manpower to investigate and secure the leyline. I share the Arashikage's concern over the leyline's recent breach by a...group of children if I recall correctly. The mechanisms that provide the Storm with flight are a prime target for terrorism." Kenshin's words indicated that he was willing to work with the Arashikage. It was unlikely that their personal relationship would ever be repaired but Kenshin knew that the day they required each other's help was inevitable. Hatake, Raiu, and Sage enhanced lightning can pass through the blade and apply to these lightning bolts. The bolts cause a thunderously deafening sonic boom and can inflict tier 2 burns upon direct contact with the lightning. Additionally, these lightning bolts can be freely applied to all complex bukijutsu for no action cost to smite enemies. The only action cost is when the technique is activated and all subsidiary abilities of the technique do not consume actions and only chakra. This ability can be used in both forms of Getsuruito.

For half of the original cost to activate the technique a same-rank spiritual electrical energy slash can be sent out from the slash of the blade. This same cost can be applied to any complex bukijutsu to achieve the same effect. The original 10 post activation of this ability consumes an action but all subsidiary abilities do not.

Wulfram chuckled and drew a copper canteen from his hip, taking the stopper from it and drawing its well before he replaced it. The child always ended up in someone's hair, and there would be trouble later.

It was a calling, the summoning was set and Masahiro heeded. His eyes closed he held the burning brand up for Wulfram to see, his left hand drawing his blade. Hostile intent was clear, not from Kagami, but someone intended it upon the Cavern.
βI trust you to handle our business, and keep my daughter, rather I should say, Ward, safe.β Masahiro called to the man before he disappeared in a burst of charged chakra to the call of the Serpents.
