So much laughter, and so much cheerfulness! His stoic little heart could barely take it. Well, maybe he wasn't as fragile as all that. And in a way, maybe it was nice to be around more than the usual shrinking violets for once. The distance the others kept provided him with a certain sense of safety and security, but the loneliness that went along with it was quite obvious to him. Change wasn't always easy, after all, but it wasn't all bad either.

Though of course her reactions to his prissy prince nature also worked to unsettle him more, as a person completely unused to anyone so much as breathing in his direction. But being that the sullen sulking wasn't actually upset or offense, it didn't seem that he'd hold her jubilant demeanor as unforgivable. At least the redness seemed to have limited itself to his ears for the time being, hidden behind his mop of hair as they were.

"I... I see." He almost sounded bewildered. One would think he could and did spend all day working at a resort and eating but apparently keeping up appearances factored in there somewhere, as he rushed out an explanation for what he'd said. "Can't have you thinking that all that's done here is eating, after all." Eating, sulking, and fancy office times. More than just the one thing! Between that outgoing confusion and his usual inner turmoil the way he stiffly removed himself from his desk was likely to be seen as both comical and just strange. "Gardens... right." With a muddled little bow as he noticed that she'd already had the door open, off he ambled towards where he'd suggested that they could go. More distracted than he had been previously, but not so much that he'd leave her to be lost.

While he had sort of fumbled for a proper reply and stiffly made his way from his desk and out the door, like some sort of flustered robot, Kitami had watched the whole thing with a never ending grin on her face. Oh, and a fresh round of good natured -if not amused- chuckles tumbling from her as she walked alongside him.
Ah yes, off they went!

The walking gave her a bit of time to rib him some more, plucking a madeline from the wrapped up bundle in her pocket. "Oh but of course not... Because there's also drinking!" She declared, a determined finger to the skies and a pastry in the other hand. Now, the amount of time since her last alchol-friendly get together was another question altogether.

Aside from that during thier stroll toward she took in some more of the sights, even pausing here and there to get a better look at particular piece of decor or a uniformed worker, the swish of a ribbon catching her attention. That or it was the faint scent of food that would delight her nose as they walked.

((i'm sorry it's so short. i wasn't sure whether to have them arrive at the place on my post or not so I figured play it safe.))

(( That's okay; sorry if I'm too drawn out or slow with my pacing. XD ))

And since when was regal and cold Devadas de Sada so flustered by girls? Or was it just this one in particular? No matter the case, His 'lady killer' reputation had never been deliberate in the least; merely a minimal amount of effort alongside what was considered to be a perfect face. It wouldn't save him from being flustered, however, as he made a visible but pretty attempt to shake it off through his wings and his shoulders. It was less robotic than before, at least, and outright subtle by comparison!

"Drinking?" There might've been a sour hint to his expression just then, though this time he was able to maintain that cool demeanor of his more readily. Of course, his reaction wasn't due to passing judgment, but due to his own personal distaste. Though the calm tilt of his head from side to side that followed indicated difference more than anything. "Of course, if that's what you desire." For what Deva lacked in alcohol enthusiasm the old guard had in scores, for certain.

It wasn't long before the soft patter of water could be heard even past the glass door, indication of the waterfall that was just outside. Ever the consummate gentlemen, Deva held the door open for his guest before even thinking of going through himself. "So. What do you think?" The passing of seasons mattered little to a place that within its own pocket of space, waterfall flowing and flowers blooming in spite of what time of the year it was elsewhere. A pond accompanied the aforementioned waterfall, complete with an assortment of different colors of water lilies. A number of white metal benches surrounded the area, where some of the other guests were also enjoying the scenery. Maybe strolling along the stone paths and taking in all of the botanical sights would take the edge off of the pretty boy's sulky mood.

((It's cool o .ob I think pacing's okay so far? that and real life things have been getting in the way so that does slow things down))

It wasn't only the scent of flowers, but the faint though growing sound of water that came as a bit of a surprise to her, and her almost instant excitement had her speedwalking the rest of the way to the glass doors. With a quick and almost giddy thanks she stepped through and the sight to greet her alone had her tail swishing eagerly, eyes and smile just as much so.

Rather than answer the imp immediately she dashed over to the nearest body of water first, pulling her gloves off to trail her fingers along the surface in the hopes of luring any fish out. It was then she looked back at him over her shoulder, pretty positive she felt the petals of a lily or two.
"This is great!" The woman half-laughed, her tone playfully incredulous as if surprised he'd even have to ask, but it was all in good fun and he was most likely being a gracious host. Something to remember if she were to be woking here.

Although that brought about another couple of thoughts, one of which being- "Wonder how much work it takes to keep this place maintained?" A bit absentminded, but the second one was more purposeful as Kitami looked again toward Deva, waving with her free hand in an invite to come join her since her left was up to the elbow underwater now.

He seemed like he could use the walk more than she did now, if anything!
"I don't remember it being this warm when I came in from outside -let alone this green..." She decided to leave the rest unsaid, assuming he'd understand her implied inquiry. Even the air felt a little different here -but not in an unpleasant way, thankfully.

(( Sometimes I feel like I linger too long on certain details. XDDD But, I'm always trying to improve too. But yeah, the turnaround for responses doesn't bother me. :V ))

His carefully cultivated cordiality was once again crumbled by her doing as she liked. It took a few rigid turns of his head to figure out where she'd gone, actually, with a similar series of disbelief movements coming to his face once he had. No one around seemed to pay any attention to that happening, but neither was his focus upon any possible reaction either. His reaction wasn't due in part to the rigid rules he'd been brought up within, after all, but instead that of the fact that he was basically that gilded cage's pretty bird. Wings folded in and looking entirely too much like an unsettled cat, again, he shuffled over to where she'd gotten to.

"It's satisfactory?" With any luck he'd be looking less tense and robot-like before she noticed, taking a note from the stilted sound of his words that he was coming off as far from relaxed. People were looking, and it wasn't at her. Stretching his neck and adjusting his tie would do the trick. Totally relaxed! Hand in his hair he casually, sort of, took on the task of answering her regardless of whether an answer was actually required or not. "There's little chance of any sort of invasive species making their way in, so in that way the tasks here are simplified. But the lack of seasons encourages endless growth, so the amount of work is plentiful still."

Which all related to something that came over too casually, for what it was. "The resort is in its own pocket of space, only accessible by portal." The logic of that detail would be difficult to fully get a grip upon for most, but for Deva, it was all he'd ever known. "Is that a problem?" Where those words could present a certain ominous nature if they'd come from someone else, he was simply curious. It didn't bother him, after all. Why would it bother someone else?

Satisfactory was putting it lightly in her book. She smiled her reply, during which moment she just caught a glimpse of a few other patrons about the area. Hmm. They were staring at him -guess they noticed his bout of nervousness she thought, and it sounded it too by the way his question had come off, before he'd fixed his tie.

Her friend's summary of the place explained well enough how the garden could remain in a state of perpetual spring, and she concluded it must have been time magic of some sort, although when Deva had gone on to casually explain the real reason why... a twinge passed through Kitami, who had been barely able to suppress a grimace.

Where her host found it a casual matter she'd admittedly, felt a little thrown off -but not for any lack of experience with dimensional pockets. If anything...
"N-naah, not at all!" The blunette put on a carefree grin as she gave a casual flop of the hand, although her tailfur told a different story. It took several seconds to settle even as she went on, getting back to her feet and drying her arm off.

"You sure you're okay? You still look a little stiff." She reached for his arm, playfully tugging while she started on the path, though her grip was loose enough that pulling free would be no problem. "You're not gonna crumble on me now are ya?" The flowers and trees truly were beautiful the fox mused, and as her mind ran on that thought it -predictably- went to the question of whether there were any fruit bearing trees.

Maybe they could visit the restaurant fter thier stroll? She noted her friend seemed more relaxed when they had been sharing those madelines eariler...

After a moment to take in the scene before him, unquestionably he wouldn't be disregarding her effort towards bravery despite the evidence to the contrary. He did however feel obligated to provide more detail, regardless of how helpful it actually ended up being. "A lack of a physical reaction--" Outside of the emotional one he'd been presented with, of course. "--is certainly a good sign." He was being ominous without that being his intention, again. Fortunately, he'd also go on to explain once more. "Dimension sickness is rare, but it exists. Mostly as simply nausea, but..." His odd eyes shifting down to the ground and his mouth twisting with discomfort indicated that he'd seen more than simply queasiness. "Anything more, is truly rare." Still a rather discomforting angle to take on the subject, no matter how well he'd meant.

Though of course, any concern towards Deva's person was to be met with wide-eyed confusion. "I'm..." Nearly dropping his shawl and shouting his answer didn't match up with the words he ended up saying. "I'm well! And you?" Fingertips of one hand to his face as he sighed, it was probably long past due to clarify just what was going on with him. She'd understand, right? "Sequestering myself away for a time has left me somewhat rusty when it comes to social activities, I'm afraid." Whether anyone else had heard his quiet admission was uncertain, though a few not-so-secret onlookers admired the charming expression that came with it. "I've done nothing to offend, I hope?" Any rudeness that came out of him was generally due to conditioning, after all.

His odd eyes were drawn a short distance away, to several golden flowering trees. "...I quite like the acacia trees," he finally commented, indulging in sharing his thoughts while he felt like it. "Somehow, they're soothing." He was quite the fan of gold, if his accessories were any indication. The calm upon his face changed to confusion as his attention turned to an unusual tree that was nearby. "That... I'm not sure what to think of it." Deva was no stranger to atypical appearances, but the lack of uniformity in even the colors of flowers upon the tree were quite the sight to see. "The old man commissioned it recently... can you imagine? It's a tree that bears forty different kinds of fruits." A very sweet and abundant coincidence!
PostPosted: Wed Apr 06, 2016 9:55 pm

Oh my. Of the responses she'd been expecting for her little jab that wasn't one of them and there was a flicker of worry across her face for it, despite his good intentions. But the extra information about dimentsional sickness was something she'd forgotten about up until now. It wasn't something she ever remembered having to deal with personally thankfully, though by the looks of it for her friend that was a different and less lucky story. Even though she chuckled a bit Deva still had a little bit of her sympathy.

And then? All her dumb grinning threatened to burst into laughter for his very sudden surprise. She wondered if he was always like this when caught off-guard and needless to say that thought was pretty hilarious. Still, she did manage to keep it in and even tone it back down as he explained, the urge to laugh fast going away with a lighthearted concern taking it's place, moreso for the way he carried himself and his wondering if he'd offended her -which she was quick to answer with a calm handwave and easy smile. No harm done.
"Maybe you could use someone who could drag you out and about more often, hm?" Kitami half joked, half because of the undertone of an offer beneath her words. Afterall, if she was going to be staying here for the time being what better opportunity to get to know her friend and soon-to-be-coworker a little more?

While she ambled her eyes followed his when he'd pointed out the acacias and let out a low whistle, hands stuffing themselves in her pockets. "That really is pretty..." Gold was a lovely colour to look at any time of the year and Kitami was quite fond of it, though, looking between the lovely tree and her impish friend it was easy to see it held a lot of significance for him, if the look of serenity was any tell. That? She would keep in mind.
That and him abruptly -and comically- being confused on what to think ot the next tree had her realizing with a rapid shake of the head and warmed cheeks, that she'd been staring at him this whole time. Whoa. Whoops!
Er-hem!
With a discreet cough and a few snickers she'd tuned back in, finding his reaction pretty funny. Actually, that seemed to be a recurring theme on thier visit so far -seeing Deva tripped up over the seemingly small things. But it did have an endearing side to it, she thought.

The tree seemed pretty neat in her opinion, and she was very openly delighted by the fact it sported such a diverse amount of flowers and leaves. Not only was she impressed with Deva's father for arranging such a lovely plant for the area, but even moreseo whoever had thought to grow the thing! That she would have to ask about.
... At least, that was her train of thought until it screeched to a halt after it sunk in what else her host had just said, and then it was her turn to be at a loss for words.

"W-wait... What." Kitami deadpanned, instantly spinning back round to face Deva with a matching expression while she fumbled between growing excitement and disbelief -and, wait. Was she vibrating!?
Guess one side was very clearly gaining over the other.
"Th-there's... You yankin my leg? Y-You really mean it? Seriously?" One monotoned question after another as her eyes darted between him and the suspect tree until she finally inched back, back a few more steps and with little warning... darted toward the multi-leafed thing with all the speed of a starving squirrel. The fact she'd eaten a little eariler obviously meant nothing by the way she shot up the trunk and disappeared into the foliage. It was enough to put said animal to shame!

What had started in a subtle sulking upon his ears picking up on her laughing led to a too-visible tremor upon a suggestion that quickly led his mind down ridiculous paths. "I'm not--!" But she hadn't actually made any direct implication that he was a shut-in, so his veneer of coolness had to make a poor attempt at damage control. He was a polite creature to a fault after all, conditioned in good manners despite the ridiculous that reared its head every now and then. "Perhaps that might be true." Though true to his decadent nature there was a bit of a toss of his hair that followed his cordial statement, even if it was by nature and unintended to make any light of what she'd suggested.

And while he hadn't been quick enough to catch just where her eyes had been fixed for a short while, his befuddlement at what he observed of the reaction that followed appeared once again. It was something he found almost admirable, though, having what he saw as more emotional freedom than he could ever allow himself to have. So rather than question it he let it be, returning to a collected expression as he closed his eyes for a moment to visibly inhale.

That sense of calm was simple maintain while he felt obligated to explain a little further. "Mm. With botany, hybrids are part and parcel of the whole matter. With anything else..." It'd been part of what had led him to be adopted by the older de Sada, after all. A shared pain, of isolation. Never really fitting in. Those gloomy thoughts cleared for the time being once he'd finally noticed where she'd ended up. As the tree was certainly sturdy enough and his father's expense, the wide eyes that looked over the tree invasion were purely out of surprise. And perhaps delight, as even though he'd stifled a smile with his hand there was a slight lilt in his voice that hadn't been there previously. "I take it you like it, then? It is quite the tree."
PostPosted: Wed Oct 05, 2016 11:27 pm

"It is!" Was the immediate response following his inquiry, A head of thick, silverine blue hair popping out of the lowest levels of the tree.. upside down. Between her grinning teeth was a branch of grapes as she snickered to herself over her own little subtle pun. That old fable clearly hadn't told the story right because these ones were certainly anything but sour!

Momentarily, as if processing something Kitami's eyes narrowed and her smile widened, before one of her arms followed only to toss a fruit in Deva's direction, should he want one. Or really because she hadn't missed the slight uplift in his voice, and was enjoying herself all the more seeing him loosen up a bit. "Think fast!"

Not checking to see whether he'd caught the fruit or not she carefully clambered back down to the ground, her pockets notably stuffed with a small variety of berries and a second mango in her hand. A thought did linger however -he'd said hybrids were common in botany, but hadn't really finished his thought and the demon wondered if she should ask. But she'd wait for now.

((Ack, this def dosen't feel like my best, i'm sorry ><. I should be getting back into the swing of things though.))

Where non-human abilities might have assisted Deva, his flighty attention span failed him. But turning his head just in time to take a fruit to the face served as a wake up call just as well as anything else might. With no bruises other than his pride, his face was again tinged with both pink and petulance as he began picking at the fruit that'd met his face with good intentions only moments before. Though apparently it was enough to crack that introverted shell of his, as with the usual quiet words and stilted speech he made another attempt as being sociable. "...Are there a lot of trees, where you're from? You see to be quite comfortable in them." It was a curious observation, without a sharp word to be found. While lacking in anything earth-shatteringly personal or candid, the somber prince showing an interest in another person was certainly the start of something different.

(( It's okay; doesn't always take tons of text to move the story along~ :V ))
PostPosted: Sun Nov 13, 2016 1:48 pm

Ooooh deeear. Try not to, try not to.. Alright, she was failing miserably and Kitami stopped making any effort to hide it, laughing heartily into her free hand. She eventually did nod out an answer though, biting into the fruit and taking time to think on what she wanted to say. Or how to best say it.
"Oh there's plenty!" She began, taking another bite. "There's lots of garden and general park space, and a whole swath of wilderness around the edge of the city I come from..." But that city was not of Gaian origin, oh no.

But then a curious thought right on it's heels! Plus the opportunity to ask presented itself pretty neatly. "And what about you?" She made to start walking again, either neandering or keeping in step with whichever direction Deva meant to go.
"I'm not too sure if you've already told me or not, though.. Um. If you have, i'm sorry I forgot." She added in a tone that was both easygoing and sheepish, rubbing the back of an ear.

Perhaps he should've expected that the conversation could be turned towards his perspective as easy as that, but his face still blanched anyway. He wouldn't think of himself as lacking social experience. But that he'd gone a lifetime without the slightest realization that for the most part he'd had an audience rather than any sort of care made such questions more unsettling than they'd be even if the answers were pleasant ones. And from the somber expression that settled back into his pretty face, what was to follow seemed to be anything but. "Was it razed, or was it always that way? Too young to remember, in any case. Just what was the failing of that place." He'd felt comfortable enough to answer but disinclined to detail his sufferings in that bleak and grey place. No need to ruin her good time, right? And whether learned as a coping mechanism or otherwise, that solemn and yet somehow somewhat puzzled expression returned upon questioning his own limited experience in life. "From a child of the ruins to an exquisite bird within a gilded cage. Hmm." Remarkably aware of his situation, yet likely no better off for it. Oh well!
PostPosted: Sat May 20, 2017 1:47 pm

"Huh..?" Now this had her looking right at him with a perplexed pout. Razed?! Was his home burnt down then? But if so who had done it, and why? He didn't seem all too happy to be trying to answer that one all the same, based on the dreary look that settled back upon his face.

Infact she was about to backstep and let Deva know he didn't need to cause himself any stress over it, when he gave yet another cryptic answer. Not that she didn't understand what he had meant. "Ah- hm..."

She said nothing for a few moments after that as she looked away, mulling it over. Until-
"I'm sorry about that." Kitami turned toward him again, her voice much softer, brows slightly drawn with pursed lips. She was about to blurt out something to the tune of him being better off now, but the words gilded cage made her think better. Afterall, cages were still cages, she thought. Right? Instead, the fox suddenly broke out into a wide smile as she lightly bumped her friend's side with her hip, a small laugh bubbling up from her.
"And i'm not just talking the ruins." A knowing wink following that before she spun round to step a bit ahead of Deva, Even if she didn't actually know where the tour toward her quarters was next supposed to go. Or even what kind of life he lived here in detail. But she hoped she'd gotten it across, of her picking up on the gist of his words.

Though the faint memories were anything but pleasant, his cultured manner could be relied upon to come to the forefront to smooth over any unpleasant feelings. "Not to worry. There's scarcely anything I remember about that place, or any of that, prior to the old man taking me in." Words with a beautiful tone turned somewhat sour upon the subject of that person. He did his best to maintain what gaiety he had, though the question that followed was worded quite carefully. "Have you met him, perchance... ?" Such a man had all sorts of connections to all sorts of places, so it wouldn't be completely unlikely that he'd be familiar with any person Deva might meet.

Only to have that moment of vulnerability met with sudden and unexpected body contact. Naturally his face would flush for a moment... though if awkwardly, he actually quietly laughed it off in the end. Only to snap back into that politeness in a moment of realization. In that moment of being lost in his appropriately tragic past, he'd neglected something rather important. "And you've yet to be shown your quarters, haven't you." However deadpan, the disappointment looked more humorous than saddening. So much for being the ultimate host!
