Hi, my real name is actually a derivative of Ariadne so I guess I'll go with that for my name here. I've always felt a weird connection to that Greek story too, with the princess and the ball of yarn in the Minotaur's lair...
I'm 33 and grew up protestant, my father is a pastor. I've always felt a connection to the strange, odd, dark and sometimes sad things in life. I don't relate much to Protestantism much anymore but I like being in sacred places, whether it be a temple, church, etc. but I really love the outdoors and have found some places to feel very sacred in nature.
Ever since I was little 6 or 7 maybe, I have felt the presence of otherworldly things. I love reading and expanding my knowledge. I'm skeptical which I consider to be healthy, but I'm also open-minded. I've been interested in magic, but never practiced it- mostly because I didn't know enough about it.
I'm more interested in the secrets and truths of the world, the deeper meanings of things, and anything interesting and hidden. I'm primarily interested in alchemy, neo-Platonism, Pythagoras, anything to do with the Dead Sea Scrolls, Enoch, King Solomon, St. Germain and the Rosicrucian texts. Goals being to become more enlightened by unlocking my inner knowledge from reading and learning.
Strange things that have happened to me throughout my life. As a teen I had a vision one time that came true- just seconds after I had it and another more notable thing about me is that I have been able to interpret dreams for probably 14 years only to find out that my Dad has the same ability (weird). I've been told my interpretations are very on the nose and have helped my friends with very important issues they were struggling with and felt like I really truly helped them. The one ended up making the decision to leave the US and move back to Japan to go to school where his family lived and the other felt a huge relief because she'd been plagued by this dream for over a decade and that after hearing my interpretation a huge weight was lifted off her. It is only an interpretation and only my view and that there are many ways to interpret dreams, yet still people tell me how on the mark I am- which makes me feel like my gift was of good use.
I'm a musician, poet, writer, composer, mother and wife. I always feel the need to be creative.
Here to learn and grow but in no way to be controlled, just wanted to put that out there. I tend to be very blunt and honest, but that's if I say anything at all. Sometimes I'm just very quiet. Ha.
Well nice to meet everyone.

TM69 thank you for the warm welcome. catholisim isn't all of it. my family, mainly my grandmother is supercilious. being from the philippines there's a lot of folklore and weird spirits out and about that really go the into. like if you're not careful where you are in the philippines you'll end up being really sick. if that makes sense what's so ever? && i'm aware with the ouija. i'm just luck that i haven't had any bad experiences. me and my friends just like conversing with the dead even thought that still isn't safe. it's interesting what you get from spirits. have you had experiences with the ouija board? sorry i'm I'm rambling No, I don't touch ouija boards, although I have had to help friends clean up the aftermath more than once. Overall, I actually have an extremely negative opinion of ouija, and I have been known to go on rants about why they're terrible, etc. I will spare you most of it, but suffice it to say that ouija boards are just, in my personal opinion, extremely dangerous and a little dumb. It's just like if you lived in the city and decided to open up your front door and shout your friend's name from the living room, hoping they were the first person to walk in. Or worse, you start shouting that you'll talk to anyone who walks in, and invite them to do so with your permission. Sometimes, sure, you get cool spirits and stuff. A lot of times you don't. And because ouija throws such a huge door open, pretty much anything can use it to communicate, and honesty isn't part of the design. Granted, all the super scary stuff probably has better things to do, but bad can (and eventually does) still come of it. Anyway, I said I wasn't going to rant and I am doing just that. Sorry. sweatdrop That's just my opinion. I am sure that not everyone who uses ouija has had bad experiences with it; but I have yet to meet anyone who didn't have something happen to them via ouija which they just don't like to talk about. And I have never seen a ouija board with a good vibe, and I put a lot of stock into that alone. On a more cheerful note, I have heard that the Philippines has some really cool folklore and such, but I don't know much about it. Have you actually lived there?

honestly you're spot on with your opinion with the ouija board. it honestly doesn't bring anything good. it's definitely an open portal if you don't know how to use it properly. tbh i really do it for the thrill and curiosity of what or who i'll talk to. i'm p cautious when messing with it. i also found out that the ouija board originated from baltimore maryland aka where i live. my friend of mine found an original. i'm honestly skeptical about using it but at the same time i do. yeah the philippines is a creepy but beautiful place. i was born there until i was 3. other than that i would always go there for vacation every other year. my family who live there always tell me stories about ghost encounters from where they live and it's p creepy. also in the philippines you can take a class there where they teach you how to live like a mermaid aha

Marael Hi! Nice to meet you, and welcome to the guild!! biggrin Out of curiosity, why the clarification about not being here to be controlled? (not that I had any intentions towards that, of course) Have you had experiences with people in these sorts of topics doing that?? Thanks! I wanted to clarify only because when dealing with topics of a spiritual (or religious nature) certain types of people might be inclined to try and take over and brainwash people who are just open-minded and looking for answers. Not that I've seen that on Gaia, but you never know when there's a wolf in sheep's clothing. I'm just being on my guard is all.

Hello! My name is Dawn which is funny because i hated my name for years but now it fits me so well. I've been into the occult for years now and I'm always expanding my knowledge on the matter. I am very fond of crystals and work with them a lot. Personally i consider myself a LaVeyan Satanist but i do continue using magic especially lately sigil magic. I enjoy working outdoors when the weather permits as well as at night. I am more of a night owl than anything. I am very intuitive and i have been developing on my empathy skills. It's nice to be here!

Welcome to the guild! heart You're our first Satanist, I think. I'd love for you to start a thread about your religion in the Religion subforum; I know satanism is pretty highly misunderstood, and I imagine you have a much better understanding that most of us. smile By Sigil magic, do you mean like wards and such??

Evening all, I'm Jon (I can practically hear the creepy chorus of replys as if this was an AA group or church meeting. -shudder-) I was raised in a good christian home that followed seventh day adventists rules, but my mother believed that there is some truth in all religions and we should respect them as equals. After her death, during (private) high school, I started to question all the things I'd been doing out of habit without believing in or knowing the reasons behind them. I found out that many major religions basic creeds predate them ( ex; the golden rule) It was time to end my sheltered life and find out who I wanted to be. But I didn't talk to anyone about this, being shy and afraid. I've been reading about and searching for other options since. I haven't had any grand experiences. I've noticed more subtle things. People seem to open up to me and tell me intimate personal details without realizing it and I always have the feeling I'm being protected and looked after. Animals seem drawn to me as well. I suppose all of these could be explained away somehow, but I would rather embrace the magic. I'm drawn to European myths and traditions -although this adopted american mutt will always be shunned by hereditary witches and not feel right around fluffy new age health stuff. I'm a night person whos read too many fantasys along side myths and pagan books. Thank you for your time and patience with my odd hours.

If it helps any, I think I know where you're coming from---I went through a similar process a few years ago, and it can be both frustrating and exciting. Don't let the fluff or the stuck-up hereditaries scare you off though... finding your own path is the most rewarding thing you will ever do, in my opinion, and there shouldn't be a pedigree requirement. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask--everyone here is pretty open and accepting. whee Glad to have you!
