Zeffer'd wrapped an arm around Aprife in turn, also happy to share a little warmth. For as many times as he had been up the mountain, the cold felt more biting and cruel than it ever had before. He couldn't help but wonder how far up they were; it must have been well hidden, because he'd never heard anything about a prison in Busthind. Aprife's suggestion made him wrinkle his nose in distaste. He would rather leap off the mountain, or throw himself into the pits. Like hell he was going to stay chained up, scraping out raw materials for their b***h-of-a-queen to use to s**t on her own citizens. They could go out with a fight, perhaps. It would be a fitting end, with some shred of dignity.
Sucking in a breath, the blueblood sat quietly and allowed Aprife's words to melt some of his frustration away. All the apologies in the world wouldn't change what had happened, and in the end, he was glad not to be alone, as selfish as that sentiment was. As Aprife clung more tightly, so did he, listening to the reassuring words and latching onto them tightly. If Aprife could still make such statements in the face of their situation, he wasn't about to give into the hopelessness that was looming overhead. He was still too angry to give up anyway, and he never would, as long as there was a flicker of fight left in him. Perhaps they could find some sort of out, eventually, if they didn't end up being tortured to death.
As Aprife's lips brushed against him, Zeffer turned his head to catch the yellowblood's mouth in a kiss, sighing with vague, exhausted content. It certainly wasn't the first they'd ever shared, and as Aprife soothed his worries, he found that he couldn't keep his affections hidden. Who knew when they would ever get the chance to do so again, anyway. He deepened it brazenly after a moment, having nothing left to lose, no one else in the world to care for besides the yellowblood. Anyone else in their cell went forgotten and ignored, and the blueblood's eyes slid shut after a moment. He would have been glad to carry on, but the approaching sound of jangling chains made him pause, and he broke the kiss to glance over anxiously, teeth bared.
What he'd thought to be a guard coming only ended up being a procession of more captured trolls. Zeffer stared coldly as they passed by, thinking that he recognized one or two or them; they had all been fighting for the same cause, after all. Were they the ones who always played the hooded escorts? Once they'd shuffled past, he let go of the breath he'd been holding, and looked back to Aprife with a tiny, lopsided grin. "You're right. No use cryin' over it now, I guess. We'll figure something out...or go down fighting." His voice was low, and his lip curled as he turned to look out through the cell door again, his eyes shining with his own aggressive thoughts.

The valley of depression Forera was mentally descending overwhelmed her, and even Lunear's comforting words felt like mocking. She wanted to hit him, she wanted to hit anything, to release her anger out on something— but really... She couldn't. She just tapped her sharp nails against the metal bars and stared at the ground dejectedly, trying to come up with a reply in her usual attitude— trying to come up with a reply using her facade. Day by day, it was getting more and more irritating to do so. Was she really that annoying? Before she could come up with a response, however. The tealblood felt the car stop, eyes going wide with terror— only to shrink to slits when the blinding light streamed into the car. She let herself be pulled along, tempted to resist and get angry like she would've as a kid— but she was smarter now. There was no escape from this.
As her arms and legs were fitted with restraint devices, Forera followed the slow procession of rebels, hair covering her face slightly, almost ashamed. This was so uncharacteristic of her. She was supposed to be excited for the next thing, but the only thing on her mind was a dark punishment, looming over her head. They'd cull her soon— maybe... Maybe they'd spare Anguis? Or Vulpin...? They were kids after all... If they needed to they could brainwash them. Or something. Her mind wandered a bit, and by the time she realized where she was, the trolls around her were being pulled into small booths. She sighed, letting her sharp, dry tongue slide over her lips in a feeble attempt to moisten them. With a heavy heart, Forera felt herself stand up straighter. Here it came. The beginning of her punishment...—A hard hand grabbed her shoulder, eyes going a little wide as she felt one of them unchain her from the line of trolls. She followed them, rubbing her wrists, tempted to run the hell away, but staying put. She didn't want to risk anymore trouble, now...
The tealblood was brought to a mostly empty room, body aching from hurt. What was this...? Was she going to be interrogated?! I don't know anything...! As she was gestured to sit down, Forera stayed standing for a little longer, analyzing the room before looking around and finally sitting down. Watching the troll with the glasses enter the room, the pierced troll eyed the pile of documents in her arms, digging her tooth into her bottom lip, hard enough to draw blood. Forera swallowed hard as she listened to the troll, licking her lips again. Pushing back into the chair, Forera adjusted herself slightly, listening to the troll talk.
"Perhaps you can explain to us how you were pressured into joining with a known terrorist organization? Were you threatened? Cajoled?"
They were searching for someone to take the blame.
Biting her bottom lip harder, Forera felt a small drop of teal blood slide down her chin. She chose this y her own decision, though... She'd been influenced by Ganyma's decision in the war, and until now, didn't know... She...
Ganyma.
Her mind went clear. Why didn't she just use Ganyma? His reaction to her changing sides— it was so abrupt and just... It scarred her. Maybe she could get back at him for something. Maybe... Maybe it was for the better? She'd heard rumors... Rumors he abandoned them. With a set jaw, Forera let go of her bottom lip, sucking it a bit before readjusting herself. She let out a soft breath, feeling blood seep through her clothes as she reopened a wound.
"C... Callow, Ganyma." Forera said, a little formally. Her voice lost the playful tint it normally had, cracking on the first syllable of his name. It was a hesitant statement, showing she felt bad for saying it— and for the second time that night, she felt her blood pusher hand hang heavy with guilt. "He... He was with us in the rehab center. We played together and... He inspired me. We met a while ago... And since then... Since I heard of him in the War... I didn't know he was a bad guy... " She bit her lip again, clearly unwilling to say more. The "bad guy", huh. That one sealed the deal. She hated this... Looking over to the troll, Forera pursed her lips again, scratching some dried off blood from her arm uncomfortably. She wished she'd stayed ignorant. Then I wouldn't have had to point fingers.

Despite the setting, and despite all they'd been through, there was a very certain relief in his eyes when Zeffer turned to him. Nothing really needed to be said, endearment was written on his tired face and expressed when their lips met in that kiss. It may very well have been their last time together like this; they could be kept alive but separated, or they could be worked and then killed, quite likely ended in one of those showy displays of power and authority Aprife was sure the queen loved so much. Either way, he let those thoughts slip from his mind, their room quickly occupied by this momentary happiness the two of them had found. Unmistakably pleased, he tilted into the deepened kiss, and everything and everyone but the blueblood was given no attention at all. Zeffer had always been straightforward, and that was more than okay with Aprife.
It was unfortunate when it ended, all too soon, not unlike their freedom. Though Zeffer was the first to pull away, Aprife had heard the obvious approach, as well, and his eyes were glued ahead in an instant. What they were witness to was disheartening at best, a line of adults, shackled as they were and led past to who knows where. Almost no one had escaped, it seemed, not even those with age and strength. Would they be saddled with a similar fate as the group here in their cell, or were they off to places unknown? The fact that only one of them would even look this way made Aprife particularly unsure.
When the procession had passed, everything went quiet, but there was an echo ringing in the yellowblood's ears of the tune they'd been humming. Even if there was no direct hope, there was always determination, and he was definitely determined to find an end to this ordeal that didn't leave them weeping on the floor. It was reassuring to hear that Zeffer held a similar conviction.
"When they move us again, we have to look for an out. Anything, any broken link in their defenses." Whether there would be one, they were left to see. "If we keep our eyes open, surely there'll be something."

It hadn't lasted nearly as long as Zeffer would have liked. It agitated him, almost enough to blame the shuffling adults who'd passed by their cell. For a fleeting second, Zeffer had to wonder who was really to blame...but he let it slip away again. There was no time for worrying about things that couldn't be changed.
"Right. Maybe if we could coordinate something..." Zeffer glanced around the cell, and pursed his lips. He wasn't sure how broken the rest of the small crowd was, but it was likely that the sight they'd just witnessed hadn't helped matters much. With a sigh, he curled back into Aprife, trying to remember the warmth of the kiss they had just shared. He was tempted to steal another, but the eyes around them had him feeling on edge, and it felt too risky. Instead, he fell silent, content to rest a bit, and to try to enjoy the other's company. If they were going to try to make a break for it, they would need to conserve their energy as much as they could.

The thin troll takes down your words as you speak, syllable for syllable. "Mmm." Is the amount of a reply you get back until she finishes writing. Then, pushing up her glasses, she leafs through the papers. "You have had no outstanding arrests or public disturbance indictments until now -- so that should make things easier. We are pushing for your case to be brought forward immediately rather than with the rest of of the arrests. You will also not be formally processed as a condemned criminal until the verdict is rendered, should it fall against you." Shuffling her stack of papers again, she taps them smartly against the desk, as though shuffling a pack of cards. "I will strive for that not to be the case. In any way, I will go begin the legal proceedings. If you would like to make another statement during the time please let the guard drone at the door know and he will summon me." Please wait! Or if you have anything you would like to add to your previous statement -- quote the mule.As Vremea was the troll who initiated the talks, she is now in charge of leading a party to free the rebel trolls! She can pick and choose her team of friends and allies and now begin to post in this thread. The teens who are currently being held in the main cells (Everyone apart from Vulpin and Forera) need to be broken out. You and the users who's trolls are coming along can decide how they are going to do this, what the obstacles are, and how you get around them. Lusii are not being freed - only the teens & children. Trolls are considered freed when either their door is opened or they are given another way to escape. When that happens, please quote the mule again! Any questions can be directed to ami. Tentative cut off date: 18th.

He was about as supportive as sand or water. Jut ran and held up nothing very stable that was quick to let things break down and collapse. Lunear was that kind of troll. Support was not his forte, (few things really were and while what few things he were good at existed, emotionally any troll would have been better off with a rabid lusus).
He expected his companions who not appreciate his fine attempts at kindness but he tried at least, they could never accuse him of that. Still, he gave them a slightly melancholy look at there were removed, trying to put on as brave a front as he could. Maybe they were to be culled first. Perhaps spared for a later date? He could only guess. And he dint need to dwell on it very long, the branding taking him by surprise and prompting utter disgust at being handled so roughly, (he was blue, how dare they!), and the fact that they had marked his skin.
Marked his skin and without even asking his permission and with a gross brand and- Once caged Lunear stared at the mark, his blood rolling down his wrist in slow motion; his blood thrumming yet not so erratically to send more than a steady flow. How dare they mark him. He was to be perfect, handsome, likeable, he had to be. A mark? A scar? A brand? How dare they do such a thing and not of his own doing. If anyone was going to mark Lunear Reglos, it would be himself. Just like the fire that took his face, he'd be the only one to mar his form, to hinder his own perceived perfection.
For a while he stared at it, then-
He started to gnaw.
It hurt like fire, and he could feel his mind screaming at him to stop, to make the pain end but no- he was the only one allowed to destroy his perfect image, no one else.
He was the only one allowed to to ruin his image. No one else would have such a privilege.
Yet it was a short lived victory, as soon enough he was branded on his other wrist, and now? Now his mouth was full of his own blood a skin. He was furious and angry and in pain. This is what he got for helping trolls. This is what he got for wanting to make the world better.

Odette sat in the vents, waiting patiently for her signal. Once Milieu and Vremea had gotten feedback from the gerbil scouts, they'd transmit her signal- a series of beeps, as many as there were drones on that floor. Idly, Odette tugged at the suit Athene had lent her. Moobeast hide wasn't the most comfortable fabric, and it felt too tight, even for a small troll like her. Still, it kept her insulated from the unforgiving Busthind climate and she had to thank Athene for that.
Three beeps. Odette adjusted her small eye mask, making sure she hadn't forgotten it. Moving swiftly, Odette removed the vent cover and dropped down into the first cell ring. Two drones to her left, and one to the right. She swung a gust of wind to the left, low enough to knock the drones off their knees. It would only daze them, but long enough for Odette to deal with the other one.
She gave a swift kick to the third drone's head, her foot contacting the skull with a resounding thwack. Oh no, she panicked, reaching out to catch his unconscious body. I hit him too hard, didn't I? She thought, reaching to check the drone's life signs. Alright, he wasn't dead. Breathing a sigh of relief, she gently released the drone and turned her sights back on the task at hand.
The remaining two had picked themselves up in the meantime and were now charging, swinging their weapons wildly. Odette ducked, attacking the drone's legs once more. Once the two were off their feet again, Odette moved quickly to tie them up together and muffle them. She turned and gave a small squeak, calling the gerbils to her.
"Cell Block One clear," Odette whispered, picking up Chevalier de la Torre, "You can start moving in to open cells." She couldn't help but feel silly, talking to a gerbil, though she knew fully well that the message was going to her teammates. Nonetheless, she planted a thank-you kiss on Chevalier de la Torre's head before setting him down. She smiled as he scurried off to the next floor. Gerbils were such intelligent creatures. Silently, Odette waited for their next signal before moving on to the next floor.

A sharp burst of static pierced her ears. Cell Block on Cleared. Milieu felt her blood pusher tighten as she secured the hood over her head and mouth. It was time to go. Time to be something a little bolder than the shy girl who hid behind a whiteboard. Milieu pushed open the door that led to the first row of cell blocks and left it wide open. Despite having gotten the all clear, she checked both ways frantically. It was all clear. Sighing, she nodded in relief and rubbed her face. The tealblood fumbled with one of her pockets and pulled out a thin black box with a few letters etched on top in silver. A lock picking set. This was the first time she was going to pick a lock, and her hands were already shaking. It's going to be fine. I've got this. We're going to be good. We're going to be good. She moved to the first Cell and inserted the picks, wiggling them as best she could. Her bloodpusher felt like it was going to bust from the moobeast hide suit any second. Trolls from the inside had been startled awake with Odette's swift beatdown and watched with hungry, expectant eyes. One rushed forward and grabbed her shoulder, shaking it roughly. "Hurry! Hurry up! Come on faster damn it!" A bead of sweat trickled down her head. More were gathering, their whispered voices harsh and pressing. POP! Finally! Milieu hastily threw the lock to the side, stood, and ripped open the door. An outpouring of teens rushed like a new wound letting blood. Milieu pointed in one direction - towards the opened door. The other girls would help them leave, and Vremea was there to aid in healing. Taking her picks, she moved to the next door and felt a new surge of anxiety - Trolls she vaguely recognized and some she KNEW for sure. Lunear! Milieu tried not to become overly nervous. It was difficult enough popping the lock with such limited experience. Being sick to her stomach was just out of the cards. After a few tense moments of struggle (which likely felt a million times longer to Milieu), the lock fell off. Again she stood and flung open the door for those inside, pointing down the hallway. It was going well so far. Putting away the tools, she moved in and helped those who were hurt to stand and shuffle out of the cell. When she can to Lunear, Milieu removed the mask and smiled at him briefly before putting it back on. His wrist looked as if it were damaged. Had he been harmed? Or was it something else? Anyone who has a TEEN and was not quoted You are now free! Kids will be freed shortly!

Zeffer couldn't remember when he had drifted off into his light, uneasy sleep, but it had happened at some point, after he and Aprife had remained huddled against one another. He'd all but draped himself around his taller companion, and he had been using the yellowblood's shoulder as a pillow before a very abrupt sound caused his eyes to slam open. All at once, his heart was pounding, and his bile sac sunk like it was full of lead; was this it, were they coming for them again? He tried to swallow the knot in his throat, and he blinked his eyes in an effort to see what was happening. The sounds hadn't been loud per say, but there had been a thud, something akin to a scuffle. As he leaned, Zeffer caught the tail end of the fight; someone was out there, and they were taking out the guards. His breath caught in his throat, and without tearing his eyes from the scene, he began to gently shake Aprife awake.
"Aprife. Wake up." His voice was a harsh whisper, and he was still craning to see. By that time, Odette had moved on, but the slow, thunking footsteps of the guard were no more. He could hear hushed voices in the cell beighboring theirs, and he strained to listen. Some of the trolls who had not fallen asleep were already starting to stir, and Zeffer swore beneath his breath, praying desperately for it not to be some wishful dream. Any moment he expected to jolt awake again, but that moment didn't come. Instead, someone else appeared, and the blueblood's pump biscuit leapt into his throat as he saw movement outside the cell. The instant he saw the hood, he knew that it was a rescue operation. Somehow, somewhere, there had been other rebels out there, and now they had a glimmer of hope, a beautiful sliver of a chance that they would get outside again. Zeffer could have wept. How had they done it?
Zeffer watched in silence as the stranger set about picking the lock. From the soft buzz of noises outside, he could tell that some of their number had already been set loose. He felt the air leave him again, and bit back tears of disbelief. It was stupid, to get so hung up over it, but the significance of it had hit him like a bag of bricks. They were escaping torture, escaping death. As the lone infiltrator tossed their cell door open, he struggled to his feet, looking to Aprife for support. He didn't know how easy it would be to clear the prison, but he was willing to give it his best shot. "Looks like we're getting out early." The corners of his lips upturned faintly.

As fitful as the rest should have been, as it was really, Aprife didn't stir at the same noises Zeffer did. No, he went right on sleeping, head cushioned, though not completely, against the unforgiving stone by his thick hair. It was only when he heard the sharp intake of breath and the equally punctuated wake up call that he returned to the land of the living, realizing his companion's warmth had moved away somewhat. It wasn't the best way to wake up, but what method could even be considered on the verge of 'good' while trapped in a frigid jail cell?
Forcing himself up, the sleep all but fell away when it became apparent something about their situation was changing, and fast. The troll who had taken out the guards was long gone, so it was more than a little surprising when he realized someone was picking the lock without even an ounce of resistance, but hell, there was no reason not to go with it at this point. If this raid was well-organized, which he hoped beyond hope it was, they'd probably have a better chance than if they had tried to escape whenever they were next moved.
Adrenaline was pumping anew and he dared to believe they would be okay, that they'd truly escape whatever awful hand fate had dealt. He was off the floor in seconds, catching up to Zeffer and offering him the most reassuring, tiny smile he could manage in return for the look he'd been given. There were too many swells of emotion all over again, and he reached out for the blueblood's hand before he could think twice, snatching it up in his own to give it a quick squeeze.
"Looks that way," he muttered, peering around the door to see a line of trolls beginning to make their way in the direction the rescuer had signaled. "We should get moving, don't wanna stand around long." He hissed a quick word of thanks to the lock picker as they passed.

It was hard to swallow the cautious optimism that was growing in his mind as he got up, but Zeffer knew they weren't free yet, and a lot could still go wrong. Who knew that there were some remaining rebels left? For whatever reason, Zeffer had believe that the majority of their forces had gone in to retrieve parts of the WACKY, but perhaps this proved that the rebel's planning wasn't completely horrible after all. He certainly hoped there was a plan, as he thought about all the drones they'd seen on the way in. His blood pusher pounded as that thought got stuck in his mind, and he suddenly began to wonder when the alarms would begin to ring. Filled with a frantic sort of urgency, he looked to his friend and was relieved to see him climbing to his feet.
"Right," He swallowed hard as Aprife took his hand, and he returned the squeeze with his own, a little heat coming to his face as he allowed the gesture to reassure him. There they were, still alive, and it looked like they would have a good opportunity to remain that way. He stepped forward after a split second, tugging them gently toward the exit. Even if it hadn't been a very deep sleep, the break they had taken had allowed him to regain just a bit of strength, but he was far from fresh. He could still feel every injury on his body, just beginning to dry and scab at the edges, and he did his best to focus his brain on moving his feet. He nodded to their rescuer as Aprife whispered his thanks, and got a chill as they stepped out of the cell. They were free...but where next? He looked around in an attempt to locate the other group of prisoners that had been freed before, and shifted sluggishly to follow, praying that they wouldn't have to fight on the way out. "This can't be ********' real. I didn't think there was anyone left..." He muttered, unable to silence his disbelief.

When Athene was younger, if she had been told that a few sweeps down the road she would be helping trolls escape the punishment pits, she would have laughed in their face. She had already established her dislike of the spectrum at a young age, her blasé attitude firmly in place. But to do this? That was asking to get culled, a stupid move that would probably end in failure. Yet here she was, waiting for her time to go before gently moving away from Vremea, towards the cages where the kids were.
Her task was simple and she was dressed for the job, everything in place. She'd even replaced her heels with boots, her loss of height mourned but she would rather get out alive than appear a little taller. The set of lockpicks dug into her hands, clenched so tightly as she crept down the hallway as fast as she could. It was clear as far as she could tell, but it was better to be cautious than to get caught by one that had been missed. She had tried to hide it, and hoped she had been successful, but she was nervous. This plan had, had to work. For the trolls trapped here. For her team.
When she reached she flicked the box open, taking out the picks and nearly dropping them in sheer nervousness. She'd practiced it, tried it a thousand times and more to make sure it would go right, but it still was nerve wracking standing here in person. The kids had already gotten curious towards her actions, moving towards the door, and she worked as quickly as she could. Her mind drifted towards Vremea and Odette, whom counted on her to get this right and she was determined to make sure it would. She even thought of Milieu, of Lunear, trolls that she wasn't entirely sure about for herself but whom needed her too. She would do it for them too.
The lock popped open and she pulled the door open, the kids rushing out. She pointed them towards the exit and then moved past them, on to the next cell. This lock dropped easier and the same thing occurred, everyone moving past and intent on leaving. She slipped the tools back in her box, tugged on her mask to make sure it was secure, and then moved in to help the kids that were struggling. It was all she could do at this point, the rest was up to everyone else.

Not even in her dreams did Vremea even think about the possibility of a situation like this happening to her.
It was almost surreal-- she remembered the moment when she heard a whisper in the wind, of the rebels... being captured. It hadn't been too long since they'd... helped Chittentown, and Vremea's body was feeling more and more achey by the miniute. Soon after her and Milieu decided that yes, it was time to go... Vremea had felt doubt crawl into her. Thankfully Milieu was around to help her get over it... To some extent. And afterwards, they had found Odette and Athene. Yes, it felt good, all of them united again... but... just thinking of what they were to do soon afterwards... It still frightened her. They could be tortured. They could be culled... Or worse. It almost hurt her to think about it.
So Vremea was careful with every plan she thought of to navigate through the maze that was the Punishment Pits. Half-hearted ideas were discarded, seen as too risky or unaffective. They had to navigate this building with precision...
Old Vremea never would have accepted this. She would have hid in her library, escape from the danger... and instead, read about it, too frightened to ever participate in something this dangerous and risky. But now— New Vremea, Present Vremea... She was— She was brave. It is strange to admit that. She would never go underground willingly— ever since the trials... Vremea felt her body tense slightly at the thought. She wished she had her stone. She wished she could calm down at least a little— Where was Odette?
Oh yes, Odette was kicking butt on the other side of the door she was sitting behind with the other girls. Even if she was scared for herself, scared for her friends— scared for Odette... she felt just a tad more confident at the thought and reached over to both her friends, lightly squeezing Milieu's and Athene's arm, eyes filled with a maternal sort of worry that Odette would get hurt. No. Odette was strong. She was no longer a little girl in need of her protection-- and even as a kid, Odette never needed her protection. She shouldn't have worried so much about her morail-- she was strong. Capable. She could take care of herself. So calm down. A shaky sort of exhale slid out of Vremea the moment Chevalier de la Torre passed through the hole they had found before the operation started, body shaking even more as she felt a dull ache in her bones. Letting go of Milieu so she could go into the main room, Vremea gave her a small nod of approval to wait for her turn in the plan still keeping a small amount of a grip on Athene... But she couldn't hold on much longer. Athene needs to go as well.
Clenching her teeth as she heard the confirmation of Milieu's part, the yellowblood teenager watched her last friend disappear after the door. Vremea's mind was freaking out, and even though she heard them in her ear, completely fine, the Lolita couldn't resist thinking horrible things— horrible, disgusting things happening to them that made her want to curl into a ball and weep, but she remembered— no. These were her own thoughts. Not reality. They wouldn't happen-- they were all strong, capable trolls. Milieu had her daggers-- Athene had that amazing garrote. Odette... Odette had that glaive, the one she used to charge at those thugs like a dangerous, killer ballerina... Vremea was proud of them. She was so proud... She wanted to help, insisting to help break the trolls out, but when her partners saw her trembling fingers, her nervous, hesitant expression... They told her to man the door and direct those whom were freed away-- and heal anyone if it was needed. Comforted her, even though they themselves were unsure. It was a little boring, Vremea had to admit, but it was best she watched from afar and didn't freak out under pressure. She tended to get a little out of control when that she did...
Adjusting her suit slightly, the yellowblood's hands trembled, body still aching from fear as she adjusted the mask she wore and let out a shaky breath-- was this really how she was to end her life? Saving... Well, trolls whom were supposed to be her partners? She hardly knew any other rebels-- only her close friends... Would they even do the same for them? All Vremea knew was that they were apart of their movement, their mission— and anything they could do to help... Vremea was willing to do. More trolls meant more supporters. They were united under this cause, all for different reasons— and even if they weren't the most noble, like how Lunear started out— they would fight for the same reasons. Equality. Justice. A want to surpass the norms given to us at hatch. She wanted to help everyone deserving it, even at the cost of her own death— she wanted to save those who were willing to try and live. And though she knew there would always be more trolls devoted to the crown than to themselves... She still had hope. Hope in the cause, hope in her friends, hope that someday, things... Things would be alright.
Opening the door, Vremea slid through it, quickly rushing toward the trolls that were freed as well as the kids-- directing them toward the exit. "Excuse me—" She exclaimed with a hushed whisper, raising her hand above the crowd of teenagers and trying to get their attention, but the sheer amount of them was slightly overwhelming, along with the kids— "Members of the Pheonix Initiative!" She exclaimed, a little louder now— they were still talking now, weren't they? With grit teeth, Vremea cursed her lack of heels, pursing her lips. It was dark. She was sure they were scared... who wouldn't be? The name in itself gave even Vremea the worst type of shivers. "The Royal Alternian Punishment Pits." Damp. Dark. Trolls could actually fall down a pit. She needed to be careful.... Vremea lifted her hand again, focusing, body still aching from the beating the jadeblood gave them... She only hoped she had enough power left to summon a little light. A warm glow slowly grew in her hand, cupped like she was scooping for water. Slowly, the speaking stopped. A small droplet of sweat slid down her neck. With a strained gaze, she looked at the group from behind the mask— Broken. Battered. Lifeless. She'd thought that before, about herself. They had had no will to live, captured and broken, planned to be used...
But not anymore.
Maybe being a leader didn't require them leading an operation. Maybe that required something-- someone with enough will to direct others to do it efficiently. They didn't necessarily need to take the spotlight... Just direct them from the afar. Watching their empty faces curl with confusion, Vremea felt slight pride slide into her. "Please, follow me." She said clearly, in a smooth, comforting voice, and soon— soon, she heard the others following her. With a gulp, she directed them to the door— the door they came from. Though that door, down that hallway— she kept her arm up high, hoping no one got lost— when she realized she had left her friends back there.
She'd come back for her team. Always.

He had given up to an extent. If there was a trial, it would be for the sake of entertainment. He might have been of higher caste, but he'd been caught with the 'scum', low bloods, running alongside them, as if he was one of their own. To a highblood, it was an insult in itself to associate so brazenly, so familiar with those beneath them. It was an insult to all he stood for, all his blood represented, to pass it over to dare to defy and stand along, among, rebels. The empire itself would not allow such blatant defiance, and even if it sparred him, it had scarred him, and it would mark him to others of his rank, his hue- Lunear would be killed, it was just a matter of when now, and who would bear witness to his death. A crowd of loyally blind, eager, blood-lusty followers of the petulant royal, or to whatever troll would have the pleasure of catching him unawares. He kept his silence, eye flickering to the doors when noises filtered in, his marked hand petting the yet named gerbil he'd gathered on his travel in the tunnels, hoping that if the mocking trial they were no doubt preparing went in his favor, where his life would be spared if just for later sport, he'd have time to see Marian and Gabiel given their little freedom as to now have to burrow through their cage in his hive when he'd simply not return. He'd really feel quite awful leaving them to starve while he went and died. Batbro would be so upset but he'd get along- all lusus eventually did. He'd begun to resign himself to his fate. But of course, right when he began to accept it, fate had gone and chosen a little different of a path for him to take. It let him think maybe they hadn't been left to die, martyrs and pawns in a war they ought to have a hand in crafting the game they played. He didn't bother to look at the would be heros, the rescue, he didn't want to give himself false hope as guards would bear down upon them, as hope would be crushed before their eyes, damning them all. He wanted to believe but a part of him just stared at his branded wrist, knowing that escape was over- they were marked and now would be forever targets in hunt to crush opposition, a regime of oppression. The sounds of growing anticipation, hushed tones and whispers for, of, freedom. They were insistent, building, like a growing song of hope he wanted to believe in, even as he looked down at his wrists. One scarred by his own choice, his own foolish rebellion and half attempt to have a sense of control over this fate. The other branded, reminding him of what he'd done, and what it would forever mean. The taste of his own blood lingered in his mouth, rich and neither bitter nor sweet. A reminder that he still lived, his pump gusher still letting his blue blood flow trough him for now. A clatter and a rush of feet, cries of joy and thanks as he found them leaving, as they found short freedom from the physical cages that had bound them, even knowing the building itself would be its own cage- He hardly had the will, the strength to want to move, to hope they could make it to see starlight again. To see the two moons. Yet somehow she found him, and when he lifted his gaze to see her remove her mask. He felt something tighten in his throat. Words he wanted to say. Thank you. To express his joy to see her again, to know she was alive and well. That he was touched by her simple display of kindness, though it was wasted on him. She wouldn't speak- he knew she'd remain silent, yet he needed it. His own thoughts a swirling negative mass of denials he needed not words of comfort. He just-needed. Reaching out was a heavy thing. Yet when he found her, he pulled her down to him letting himself smile carelessly, enjoying the feeling. Whatever it was. He wanted to say thank you- to say something, yet he couldn't. He didn't know what he felt. He didn't know what would be right to tell her. To share with her and expose of himself. So Lunear simply let himself smile just that fraction, let himself touch his forehead to her own. He let himself slip his own mask on, let himself be the Lune she knew, the one who was confident and arrogant and sure of himself, even as he felt his will and pride crack as he moved to get up, to walk to an unspoken promise of freedom. "You're by far a most terrible rescue. Making a gentleman such as myself wait this long for escort." His jibe was matched with that small smile. Walking on slightly unsteady legs, the blood he'd lost previously catching him in his slightly off kilter gait. "I nearly though you wouldn't arrive, and I'd have to suffer the company of such inelegant confines for who knew how long."
