With everything Aerykah said, Shanta leaned further and further until she nearly fell off her carpet. This was bad, oh this was bad bad bad bad. "Well... you're alive, right?" she finally said, trying to be as optimistic as she could. "That's the good news! We'll look for Vivian later, let's get you to your dorms or something to wash you up." She scooted over on her carpet and patted the spot next to her. "Hop on. Shanta's Valet Service is now open." Across the way, she spotted that girl who she'd seen at the library with Averill and waved.

As Ella enjoyed the scenery, she noticed someone on the other side of the courtyard give her a friendly wave. It was a beautiful young woman with a mysterious aura about her that seemed to be from a different house. It made Ella happy, to see friendliest from the other students, especially one from a house other than Ekaterina to help show her that in this school all students could be friends.

Well, she certainly got the other girl's attention. Shanta waved again. "Heeeeey! You over there! Help me get Aerykah on my carpet, I need to take her to her dorms!" She didn't really know the blonde, but hey, if she was a Merlin kid she had to be okay, right? Shanta's hand faltered a little when she recognized the yellow color scheme, but hey, any Ekat that wasn't Naomi had to be alright.

Ella jolted, it seemed that the wave was actually a gesture for help than a wave. Ella quickly jumped to her feet and rushed over to the girl. She gasped, seeing the flying carpet she was perched upon in awe. Before questioning it, she noticed the sickly looking girl on the bench, this made Ella's insides churn with worry, "Oh no! Will she be all right? What's wrong? Is there anything more I can do?"
Ella helped the other student place the girl onto the flying carpet as she was asked to.

⊰aerykah - sampson⊱ Nodding at Shanta's comment about being alive, Aerykah was indeed thankful she was. She had the upper hand, in that she knew the forest fairly well, and she knew more defensive spells than Vivian did. God,she hoped that Vivian made shelter or found Carrmin or something. It had been a long time, and the poor girl probably wouldn't be the same when she was found. Aerykah knew she had to remain optimistic, amid the missing student notices that would go up upon her arrival.
Zoning out for a minute, and closing her eyes, she suddenly felt an extra set of hands boost her up onto Shanta's carpet. Did she fail to respond? s**t. Snapping open her eyes, she looked warily at Ella, not recognizing the Ekat. She looked too nice to be alligned with that Bitchett.
"Thanks..." she mumbled towards Ella, and then looked up at Shanta. The exhaustion was setting in and now she just wanted to head back to the comforts of her bed. She gave what energy she could into helping herself be lifted up onto the carpet, and she just lay down behind Shanta, a little self-conscious about her weight and how it would affect flight, and then just closed her eyes.

"She's fine, just stayed in the forest a few days too long is all, I think," Shanta muttered, adjusting Aerykah so she didn't fall off. Her carpet dipped a little under the added weight, but Shanta was pretty confident that Carpet could take it. "Don't talk, Aerykah, let's just get you to your commons so you can shower and get to bed." She paused. "Actually, let's get you to the nurse. That's smarter." She looked at the blonde girl. "You're a first year, right? My name's Shanta. The nurse is probably out, so I'm gonna need your help." Hopefully the blonde would know more about modern medicine than Shanta, and Shanta wasn't a healer yet, but Aerykah definitely needed something.

"Yes, I'm a first year," Ella nodded softly, "I'm Ella, and of course I'll help. I'll do whatever I can." Ella wasn't exactly sure how she could help, but she did know the basics of first aid. She also remembered how to do wrappings and check-ups from playing "Veterinarian" on her pet rabbit when she was small, as silly as it was she believe the knowledge could help at least a little bit.
She didn't know where the nurses office was yet, so she prepared to follow and do the best she could for these other students.

"Awesome, follow me." Shanta readjusted Aerykah again and started floating off towards the main castle. "The office is kind of, um, weird looking though, so brace yourself."
Should I tell her about the torture devices? she wondered. Then she decided, Nah.

A tremor shot through the school, violent enough to be felt in Justus. Then another. And then the ground began to split apart. Chunks of earth flew into the air and a loud, ominous roar echoed from somewhere beneath the ground.
And then the Black Dragon tore free. A huge, scaly beast, the Dragon roared loudly, loud enough to echo to Justus, and stepped forward, snorting flames from its nostrils. With a loud huff, it unhinged its massive jaw and breathed out a massive flame. The Practice Fields caught alight.
The dragon roared and unfolded its leathery, bat-like wings, and took flight, circling around and letting out another stream of fire. The main building began to burn, and then the dorms. Tomas Dorms, most unfortunately, went up in a fireball due to strange fumes that seemed to originate from within. Then the dragon turned and began heading towards Justus.
By some utter miracle, it didn't touch the Oak.

The Headmaster didn't take long to arrive at the Oak, along with the entire staff. His face etched with a grim expression, he looked at the carnage around the grounds. Some of the teachers wordlessly broke off from the group to cordon off the huge crater from where the Black Dragon had emerged. The rest turned their attention to Merlin's Oak; if it was damaged, the school was done for.
Meanwhile, the Headmaster himself borrowed power from the Oak, more than he usually did, and sent out a message, a message for the students to gather at the Oak as soon as possible. Once the students were all confirmed to be alive and hopefully unscathed, they could take more action.
Deep in thought, he waited.

Din stood near the Oak as told. Though eir face hardly ever gave away what ey was thinking, ey seemed very anxious. Eir head was moving side to side, scanning the students trying to spot other Tomases. So far Din had only found two; Gage and Icarus. Ey knew that it wasn't eir responsibility to check out for the other Tomases- Din wasn't house representative -but ey thought ey had to, if just for the personal reason of knowing there was no friends ey had to morn.
Din's eyes occasionally darted to the pile of rubble that was the Tomas common room. That's where ey went first. It seemed logical to Din to start with sorting through the wreckage first, if anyone was trapped but alive, there wasn't enough time to wait. Din did indeed find a body- with the help of Gage -of the Tomas cat, which was beyond revival. At this point Din was just hoping no one else was in there, but would continue searching if the other two members of the house- Casimir and Aerykah -didn't turn up soon.
Din found emself slumping more and more as time went by (if only by mere minutes). Ey took off eir backpack, full of crystals from the Crystal Caverns in the catacombs, but it didn't seem to improve eir posture. Ey told emself it wasn't the stress of waiting, that ey was a strong person. But Din was starting to doubt that.
Naomi arrived on the scene immediately after Din, looking white. There was bad, and then there was really bad, and the Black Dragon being unleashed definitely fell in the latter of the two. She glanced at Din, but quickly dismissed em; ey weren't her housemates, and those were her priority right now, aside from putting out the fires.
Naomi had a short, tense conversation with the Headmaster in which upon a few things were agreed on: she would contact the other reps to coordinate student-finding efforts, round up her own students, and call her mother to get assistance in putting out the fires. With all that out of the way, Naomi wasted little time in dialing up Marinna Pritchett on her cell phone. (Thank god for magical networks.)
"Mom? You're in Justus, right? Are you okay?" Pause. "I'm fine. Listen, can you come to the Academy? I suspect there'll be more than one injured person, and Professor Runesteam can't take them all." Pause. "I'm looking for my housemates now. Just... come here as soon as you can. I'm going to need help to put out the dorms, a lot of help. Be safe. Bye."
Naomi shut her phone and immediately sent out a mass text to every Ekat she had the number of.
> ARE YOU OKAY? RESPOND WITH STATUS, LOCATION AND ETA TO OAK.
There was a lot to do, and she couldn't waste time. Picking a stone from her pocket, she pulled some water from the crushed fountain and started heading in the direction of the dorms to do damage control.
[what a way to stir up some activity am I right :'D also I'm never satisfied with Naomi's eyes I swear so that's why they're different agAIN]

A tiny ringtone blared up from Nina's phone as she ran, almost stumbling on the now uneven and cracked earth. She sniffed, burning smoke entering her nostrils as she wiped away the sweat and soot on her brow, wincing at the contact on a small burn on her forearm and single-handedly fished out her phone and replying to the text.
>.I'M FINE, MINOR SINGES, GOING TO OAK, 3 MINS
Nina coughed, supporting herself with her hands on knees as she panted, still getting used to all the constant running. She could see the Oak towering over her, almost silhouetted by the burning horizon of justus and the rest of the campus. Eyes frantically darted, trying to find her housemates she knew. "NAOMI?! AVERILL?! ...Ian?"
Casimir Jaunius(who has yet to be bothered to have a layout)
Casimir lay several feet away from the wreckage of their dorm. A safe enough distance, back on ground with chest rising and falling rapidly, heaving from the strain of several turtles in quick succession as they shielded younger students from being trapped under collapsing, burning timber. Having to clear away several fallen beams through magic certainly had its affect. Sullivan had died, that was unfortunate, but hopefully he was the only one. Struggling to fully step up, Casimir only had enough effort to crawl their way to the oak and with enough luck, into someone's field of vision before they promptly collapsed back on the ground, on the verge of passing out.
