I'm stopping in as requested by Javier.
Based on the brief lookaround of your guild, I'd say the first post you quoted is suitable and those suggestions are adequate.
1. Compile what is still active. Delete what is not. If a deleted subforum requested again, consult with your crew on standards to keep any subforum open. That includes the ones you choose to keep on.
2. You need a welcome page and a banner to show off as people see it. If people see only a wall of text, they'll go back to CB where it's simple to read posts razz . But if you keep your guild description clear and to the point on what your goals are for this guild, that'll draw in interested members.
3. It's not just what's inside the guild. Remember that outside of the guild forum is how you let people know you have a guild they might like to join.

How do we delete sub-forums, to be sure?
Yes, a Welcome Banner would be a must-do.
As for what's outside it, all I got at the moment is In-group conversations between Major Players from any of the factions, but not how to present such a discussion at work, sadly. sad
I may need help with the last part.

You can't delete the subforums, but you can rename them as closed and remove the stuff from it and consolidate it with another subforum that is similar.
And I can help you with ideas for getting word out after the guild is revamped. smile

This is what I've been using to make the announcements, since we're only allowed 1,500 characters to type out, Per Announcement a Day, per group.
You all deserve to have this link, because frankly we're all family and we're all supposed to stick together.
Lately, I haven't been behaving like a family man, as without you all being here, quite frankly I am nothing but horse$hit and garbage.
I mean every little thing I say.

I'm going to chime in and say that I am totally, totally thirding the whole "too many subforums" thing. Also, yeah. The front page does need some work. I could come up with something because I have constructed a front page before.
But as for "what's active and what's not", well, I don't know if we can have a fair assessment of that. I think we'd end up shutting down everything if we judged by activity, since new members usually only flock to the very popular things (like HP and Camp half Blood.)
This is just my way of sayin' "don't close Discworld, because I'm going to try and make it work."
I'm sure other subforum mods feel the same way.

I feel disappointed you think it means Discworld or Torchwood and The TARDIS will be auto-removed, actually.
Admittedly speaking, The Joker was a farcry in a jarring way from what I had in mind, but there was nobody else I could turn to for this point to be made.
We're gonna have to concoct something In-group related and also having honest promises of art prices, none of the Jacked-up Horse$hit at work with the Art Shops these days, really.
Plus some Art Freebies are always welcome, but that's if we find any willing artists in the first place.

Well, our guild captain asked me to help with getting the guild heading in a good direction. smile I have been on staff for quite a few guilds before, and I have a pretty decent idea of what will really help the guild. In my honest opinion, I feel that the subforums need so much revamping and simplifying that it just isn't possible within this particular guild and that a new one would need to be purchased. All active members would need to switch over. This is because subforums can't be deleted. And you guys have over 30. Also when I joined, it was very difficult for me to figure out exactly what kind of guild this was and what I was supposed to do in it. The sad but true thing about people on the internet is that they want something pretty, easy to understand, and something fun and instantly gratifying. There are certain aspects of the layout of this guild that don't cater to those desires. Now these are all just my opinions and if you guys don't agree, I am totally ok with that. smile But I did come here as a new member, so I have the third party eyes that your other new members will have. If things are too disorganized and difficult to understand, you might not be able to get and keep new members. Something else that is important to know about guilds right now is that almost all of them are dying. Gaia has lost a ton of users, and the only Guilds that are still super active are the exchange guilds, the guilds against what Gaia is doing, and RP guilds. While other guilds are dying, YOU GUYS have the ability to bring in members and have something truly awesome happening in this depression. smile So no matter WHAT you guys decide to do for this guild, if you start making improvements of ANY KIND, including actively recruiting, I strongly believe you guys will be just fine. smile

One thing's definitely concrete:
We can start by finding willing artists prepared to abide by 250K gold a piece for each colored, non-chibi and full-body art that gets done.
By playing Heralds of Chaos or going on Booty Grabbing in particular, its possible to at least get 50K gold a day, so 5 day's worth of getting 50K gold a day(at minimum, since its the max amount you get by playing Heralds of Chaos) will lead to 250K in gold.
This is what I found for Heralds of Chaos, if anyone's interested.
Like I mentioned before, a task force of artists in the group may be required, but for what its worth, This location can be used to host up art and post graphics requests, in fact.
I just feel the ground rules may have to be stated, the last thing we need to fathom is above 500K in gold per art piece in drawing just one individual person at a time, we don't need a free-for-all that holds no credibility like what's happening to the Marketplaces right now.
Anyone willing to work with me to set up the ground rules for the art?
If anybody's willing to lend a hand with the task, let me know now, as the only thing that's certain is that 250K for Non-Chibi, fully-colored Full-body art a piece would be nice and reasonable.
