Same reason you do it in the Sims. Also, it helps if you forget about your character. I've probably made half a dozen Skyrim characters and ended up deleting a few because I couldn't remember what I was doing with them. I kept a female Nord I named Mercy. She's only level 13 but married so I felt bad deleting her. But since I'd been stocking up her perk points, I couldn't remember how I'd wanted to develop her and I couldn't remember what kind of personality and stuff I'd mentally given her. Plus I've never thought up an actual history for characters, like their ages, their family history, where they were born, etc. but if I had the option to write a bio or fill that kind of thing in like a survey...wow, as a writer, that is something I would really love!

Well, yeah, it kinda seemed that way when you said three times that someone's suggestion was useless. sweatdrop Its not useless just the devs time could be spent elsewhere instead of making a few more screens at the start... Like I said I like it just seems like a waste though rpg. Mot meaning to offend anyone and there ideas niy wjay could be great for a mmo could be a huge letdown to a solo rpg.

Well, it's different if you're talking either/or. This was just a thread for people to say what they'd like in the game more. Some people are all about the combat and skills, but some people (like me) are more interested in personalization and customization of the character himself or herself. And the backstory is something never discussed because you make a character as you go, but to me and some people that would be a very exciting feature. I get what you're saying, though.
