▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉ ☆ ★ ☆ Blue Amongst all the introductions, Blue found himself excited, forgetting about OMEGA very promptly. All these new faces, all these returning faces, all in one room. It was marvelous! As Blue strolled around meeting all these new people, a grin enveloping his face, but then, the enthusiastic aura was interrupted.
A green hair man, apprehensive in posture, started an announcement. According to his words, there were two ships, not just one. They would be split in half, some heading to the Steelstead, while the others stayed in the Ambition. Blue simply gazed around at his surroundings, pondering over who might be his ship mates.
He listened, which was rather effortless, considering the silence that the tense atmosphere produced. Everybody stood stationary, their eyes focused on the uneasy yet un-emotional speaker. He began with those staying at the Ambition. He listened as the names swayed passed Blue’s mind with him hardly paying a lick to it. But after the first announcement was made, Blue’s eyes went wide for about a second, possibly longer.
Blue was not in the same ship as Red. Blue almost wanted to curse at whoever created the list. He went through the damn trouble of getting to Mt.Silver to retrieve Red, and they won’t even be in the same ship as each other!? It was absurd, it was crap. But regardless, Blue would have to not care.
He turned over to Red, and smirked. He spoke soon after. “Thank goodness I don’t have to be in the same boat as you! Wow, this is great. Now you won’t be around to agitate me…” Blue then turned back around, facing the green haired announcer. He bit his lower lip, scanning around for anybody else he could possibly spend time with throughout this ‘rebellion’.
After the announcement was made, Blue went around, once again making introductions and greetings. He was definitely not going to spend this time twiddling his thumbs around. He was going to get to meet everyone, always having something to do. He attempted to make himself look as dynamic as he could, stating that he was the previous Kanto Champion, and also that he is the Gym Leader of Viridian City; the strongest Gym Leader. He was being rather cocky, but hey, that’s Blue for you.
Suddenly, as everyone was making preparations for boat switching and departure, a cacophonous sound was heard; most likely an explosion. Blue instantly scorched towards the source of sound, his curiosity invading his body. He was soon interrupted though, more explosions drawing near the ship, and eventually making contact with it.
Then, he heard the voice of Lance make an announcement. OMEGA had discovered their presence. His eyes were shaken with fear. Were they all going to be killed? Had they lost before they even started? No, Blue thought to himself. They were not defeated. They could still manage an escape, or at least he hoped.
Suddenly, a girl was threatening everybody with a gun. She was waving it around, her finger tightly wrapped around the trigger. Never had he seen a gun before. He hadn’t even seen a criminal use a gun. An odd explosion took place due to her Pokémon’s tactics, and soon, the gun was used.
Nobody around her had been injured. The only shots that were taken were aimed for her Pokémon, a Natu, and herself. Suicide. Another new sight to Blue. “Why in the hell would anybody want to do this…?”
After he heard the announcement that all flying type Pokémon were needed for battle, Blue smirked. This is what Blue loved. A real, adrenaline filled Pokémon battle. No guns, no explosions, and hopefully, no deaths.
He took a pokeball out of his belt, and sent it into the air. “Pidgeot, get rid of these bastards! Help all of the other flying Pokémon!”
The Pidgeot hastily flew up into the air, ready for battle. “Pidgeot, show all these trainers the mighty power of me, Blue!”

▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉ ☆ ★ ☆ WALLACEHe dove beneath the surface, the water billowing around him in streams of bubbles. Before he had much time to order his own Pokemon into battle, a Cradilly and Armaldo were sinking down below the waves. Steven still clearly had his back and more importantly, was still okay. Wallace turned to his right where Robespierre – his Tentacruel – was floating beside him. Wallace pointed a finger towards Steven's friends, silently ordering his long-faithful Pokemon to help them down on the sand.
Wallace's lungs began to ache from lack of oxygen and he kicked upwards. His head broke the surface and gulped down great lungfuls of smokey air. The rain was still smacking the water and way above he heard roars of angered dragons. He tread water, trying to think of some kind of plan, but he was coming up short.
“Marie, in the sky,” he said, and the Swanna floating before him spread her great wings and took flight, the sight of her clean, white feathers cutting through the blackened sky before she too was engulfed.
Another explosion rent the morning air and a wave of water crashed over Wallace's head. Returning to the surface again and coughing out a lungful of water he turned towards Empoleon. He reached up and patted his beak. “Get to the Ambition, help any way you can. And if you find Steven, for Christ's sake get him the hell out of there.” Morgan gave a cry of understanding and dove beneath the waves.
Only Francoise remained and Wallace patted the thick hide of his Walrein. “I need to go and find the sur-” he broke off unable to finish the word survivors. It was too early to think like that, that OMEGA had perhaps got the better of them. He shook he long aqua hair and looked into the concerned eyes of his oldest friend. “I need to find the other trainers, I need to make sure no one's hurt. Don't give me that look Francoise, I'm probably the strongest damn swimmer out of this entire bunch. I need you to help protect the Steelstead. Get the mist going. And see if you can't get some hail started too.” Wallace ran his fingers through the damp curls of his Walrein's mane. “Don't let them latch on the underside of the boat. And look out for ZeeZee,” he added as an after thought. “I left her on that boat all alone.”
He patted the thick hide of the Pokemon as he swam off, back towards the Steelstead. Wallace looked towards the Ambition and started to swim, heading for the burning boat. He was being incredibly reckless, he thought as he skirted around a patch of burning oil. The smoke was clouding his vision and his eyes were beginning to itch.
The old Wallace would never have done anything like this. Then again, he thought, as he hoisted himself up the side of the Ambition, the old Wallace had something to loose.

▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉ ▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉ ☆ ★ ☆ STEVEN STONE ╱╱ NENNA ☆ ★ ☆▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉
Seconds seemed to slow to minutes before Steven at last caught sight of a slither of cloak. Made out the outline of a body through the slicing rain. "Go easy. Careful as you can," he urged Metagross. "Lance! Lance, can you hear me?"
It was no good. Steven could still barely hear himself. As no more than a tinny echo beneath the ringing. Lance had been in the centre of the explosion. Steven changed tact.
Metagross, through years and practice and familiarity, the steel pokemon picked up its trainer's thoughts, and carefully integrated his consciousness with its own. People were so delicate. So easy to overload. I need you to use telepathy to relay what I said to Lance. If he-- is he-- It was hard to even think about. They couldn't get by without Lance. They couldn't be a champion down. Steven was lucky Metagross had the capacity to finish his question for him, and respond with chilly understanding. Yes, his vital signs were there. No, to the next question; there were no spinal injuries. Then lift him clear with Telekinesis.
There was no need to let Metagross know to be careful again.
Steven slid down his pokemon's side just as Nenna doubled-back from releasing a mantine into the ocean. "Protect the Steelstead, Gilly! Help the other water pokemon disguise it with hail," and please, please, "Don't get hurt!"
It was tempting to ask what was going on. And what to do next. But reason told Nenna that half the trainers there probably had no more idea than she did. She ran up and skidded to a stop next to Steven, all the same. Knut aquaplaned on the rain-soaked planks and clanked audibly against one of Metagross's solid legs. He had to shake himself back to his senses.
"Steven, you're bleeding," Nenna said breathlessly. Then she noticed the prone figure on the deck in front of them. Her eyes widened and her voice rose in pitch. "Is he dead?"
Steven didn't need to read her lips to know what she was asking. "No. He's alive. But I need to make sure everyone gets over to the Steelstead as soon as possible. Can you stay with him?" Nenna nodded before the former champion could finish giving instructions. "Try and bring him round. He should have another Flyer on him if you don't and I don't get back round to you. Metagross, this way!"
First aid, Nenna took a deep breath to restore some calm to her racing heart, was something she could do. "Sella, Knut, please have my back and keep an eye on the air. Poffin, I need your help too. The next moment the Audino was out of his pastel pink heal ball, natural stethoscope ears feeling out the fallen champion's pulse.

▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉ ☆ ★ ☆ LANCELance had felt the signal vibrating through his bones, saw the telltale glow of the Lunatone out of the corner of his eye. But it hardly mattered. There wasn't time. No time to run, no time to think. Barely time to react. His body acted before his mind could process the signs: he whipped his heavy cape around himself, managed two steps toward the door--
And behind him, a sound and force like news of a death and the crushing silence after. And he was by the wall--at it--smashed against it--and everything was hard and heavy and black.
Something was poking at his mind, squishing in thoughts that weren't his. They were metallic and fuzzy and sharp, like steel wool and the taste of blood. Lance! Lance, can you hear me? It ricocheted around his head. No. Hurts. Go away. But then the fuzzy-sharp feeling was all around him, cradling him, moving him.
When the feeling left, he was sprawled on something cool and shuddering, and cold water was pelting his face. People were talking. Or yelling. He couldn't tell which. So much noise, so much deafened silence. He made out bits and pieces, but couldn't quite process them into words.
This was going to hurt a lot more, he realized, when he thought about it. Better to just lie here, not think, rest. But there were things he should do. Things he was supposed to do. Responsibilities.
Everyone is afraid and you are a Champion, dammit! Act like one!
He slitted his eyes open, saw a mass of soaked blue hair in the irregular light. A face. (A young face?)
"Clair," he croaked. He couldn't hear himself, but, then he wasn't sure if he was actually hearing anyone else, either. There was something he should tell her. "Don't belly-flop. Hurts. Too many Magikarp."
No. That wasn't it. Something else. The rain was so distracting, so pounding, so cold. (Feels cold, feels good: numbs. Ahh, hurts!) He tried to shift out of the rain, shift off his back and pull his battered cloak around him, but his body was like rocks and screamed at the movement. Had he screamed, too? He didn't think he could have--it hurt to even pull in enough air to talk.
Words he'd heard earlier finally translated themselves. Get to the Steelstead, someone had said. Need a flyer. (What happened to Clair's flyers? Truffle. Truffle would be so soft--) Falkor. He needed--no, Falkor was busy. Falkor and Fafnir. Akhekhu could--
"Clair. Flyer. In the . . ." What was it called? They all had different pokeballs, but the Garchomp's . . . ? He could picture it, just, but couldn't pull a word to match it. "Red and black. Red and black on the top." The other colors melted into each other in his mind. He grasped at them, but they were all fading into black. "Take care of . . . "
So heavy. So damn dark and heavy. Needed to close his eyes, just for a minute . . .

▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉ ☆ ★ ☆ RED Red's eyes widened in the slightest when he saw a familiar pidgeot make its way over to where all the other flying pokemon where to help; He adjusted the cap on his hat and looked behind himself for that damned brunette who he was positive the bird pokemon belonged to; Infact, he heard his egotistic statement right before he saw the pokemon. He nodded his head in acknowledgement to his rival before looking back up at the sky; at his Matchbox.
Muse continued to swirl around Red's leg in an attempt to show him that he too could help, but his cry went ignored as Red wasn't going to allow this pokemon to get hurt during this battle. Red reached his hand down to the pokemon and let it slide up his arm. Pikachu moved to his other shoulder to give him some space. Red pulled his hat down so that it shadowed over red eyes. He leaned his head up and looked at the sight above him. He hoped that Matchbox would be okay; he and his pokemon weren't exactly the best anymore.
But he did get an idea. He took out another pokeball and pressed the button in the middle; when it grew to its correct size, he pressed down on it again. The ball opened and out came a Blastoise. He pressed a hand against the brown shell of the creature and pulled at his hat, "Shellshocker...." The deep and somehow sullen voice finally left the young mans lips as he pointed up at the battle above them. Shellshockers' purple eyes looked up to see a large fight; between flying pokemon.
He couldn't get up there.
Red moved his pointing finger and shook his head, "...." The Blastoise understood what the man was inferring, and pressed back behind him; He stood up straight and split his chubby legs out the farthest they could go. He looked up at the battle and growled, "Blaaa..." Soon, a sound familiar to a large ...well, pipe, could be heard.
Shellshocker released his hydro pump and a large surge of water went up and hit the offending side of this battle - the bad guys, for short. Matchbox had to swerve around to avoid the surge of water, he roared at Shellshocker who just powered up for another hydro pump in retort.
Red pulled his hat down again and waited. This would definitley help, right? He looked to Shellshocker when he groaned. Maybe he could only do two at a time? Red pressed his hand to the pokemons shell again, "I'll need you soon..." The quiet sentence was muttered andthe pokemon tilted in a nod.
Red looked up in a confused manner; What was happening; did his idea work? He couldn't discern what was going on and he hated when he was lost. A defeated noise somehow left its way out of his nasal cavity as he quietly tilted his hat down over his eyes again.
He didn't end up liking this, infact he wanted to stop battling now - he just wanted to leave the currently sinking ship. He wiped his eyes and sighed: he hated to be alienated, even if his silence didn't depict so. He wasn't going to go down with this ship.
Red turned in the slightest to see the rest of the people still on the ship; The guy with the maroon hair, and Blue too. He didn't want to show anyone he was scared. So he pulled at his hat yet again and turned back to look up at the fight in front of him. But a hand of support went up to Shellshockers side.
He wanted all the balance he could get; didn't want to have to battle if it meant his life would be in danger. The Blastoise leaned in to Red's touch; it was the most he could do without squishing the man or hurting his fingers. Blastoise looked up at his friend Matchbox and watched earnestly. He'd try his best to help the dragon...If his best was enough.
Somehow, a shiver went up Red's spine; it felt like something bad was going on, although he couldn't tell what right now - he knew it was bad. A shakey sigh escaped him, he was not going to show anyone he was scared.
In fact, he wasn't scared anymore! He definitely wasn't scared! His grip on Shellshockers shell got much tighter as he leaned his head down, looking at the rushing water beneath them. He didn't want to die.

▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉ ☆ ★ ☆ Atera Rue Sinclair Bloody. Atera's mind seemed to be only wrapped around the fact that the dark, cold wall was stained with that red. That bone chilling red...
She wondered how did something like this could happen. It was just to...surreal. Impossible to exist anywhere outside of action movies. Or horror. Atera was sure she just stepped on some horror-action set, and that girl wasn't dead. Her mind wanted to believe that so much. She could even imagine people popping up and yelling "Surprise! We got you!" as some sick joke for the rebels.
Atera only had to look at her hands to know that wasn't the truth. Her shaking, bloodstained hands.
The brunette was completely taken off guard for the first part of the events. She was simply writing in her notebook while one talked about being a Kanto champion, then the best Kanto gym leader ever. It was enough to interest her; after all, she haven't seen Kanto, and was curious how different where their gyms than Hoenn. Zangoose was still around her feet, listening intently. He yearned for a simple, trainer-to-trainer battle, Atera knew as it's ears would perk up when the words "gym" and "strongest" were said. It wasn't much, but Atera felt something sort of...comfort with these people that would never turn on their fellow man, though she still remained a bit uncomfortable with her secrets.
But then Lance's voice over the PA echoed in her mind. OMEGA had found out about the rebels. Atera had dropped her pen, ending what ever note she was writing, and she barely had time to panic and command Zangoose to help her escape. She thought that somehow, someway, the Champion had figured out her last occupation, and wasn't taking chances. This rationalization was crushed when she heard a female's demands to stay away, and saw the gun. Even though Atera did not know this girl personally, she realized then that she was OMEGA. There was no mistaking the use of a gun on trainers and their Pokemon. The Natu, on demand, sent out a violet wave that was disorienting, but not harmful. As long as Atera's been with OMEGA, she could not understand this sort of tatic, instead of firing the gun and getting away.
With the first explosions, Atera was knocked off her chair and fell on her rump on the cold floor, letting out a shocked gasp. Zangoose was already on fours, hissing menacingly at the girl.
But then the girl's actions shocked both Zangoose and Atera, shooting the Natu and then herself.
Atera could not wrap her mind around it. Even so currently, when she had silently gotten up and felt nothing but a crushing sympathy for the two. The feelings was enough to suffocate her.
She had tried to make her way to the exit, but just couldn't move her legs towards the exit, even with the explosions she felt shake the whole ship. She just couldn't go and leave the child in the state she was. Arceus would have wanted at least someone to do something about it.
So there she was now, hands stained from moving the child to lie flat on her back, arms crossed over her chest while the Natu that served her was placed on the stomach. Atera didn't even know if the Natu belonged to this girl, or was a Pokemon given to her by OMEGA, but she didn't care for it. With the girl's eyes closed, Atera shed off her lab coat and paused. She needed to say words. It wouldn't feel right to "bury" her without saying a prayer for the girl.
But what was she going to say? Atera was shaking to the point that her glasses threatened to rattle off her face, and it did not help that the very site of the girl and the threat of smoke filling the kitchen just added to her anxiety. In the time she really needed to run, she racked her brain for something reasonable to say. She didn't know this girl, after all. There couldn't be a word she said that would be wholeheartedly meaningful. Sucking in a few breaths, at least enough to stop her hands from shaking, she went on with what she thought would be the best.
"She knew no better, Divine Arceus. This girl, much to young to die, was following a foolish man on a foolish path. This Pokemon was used as a tool for destruction. I am sure, however, they only wished to please you. Please, forgive them, and may they find peace now."
She felt silly saying such a makeshift prayer, but her nerves relaxed a little bit while she gave a short moment of silence, traced a mark of Arceus on each of their forehead with her blood-free thumb, and laid her lab coat over the two. The lab coat was big enough to cover the girl completely, save the girl's feet poking out, but it was something Atera was glad about.
Zangoose was in a frenzy. the cat ferret could not stay still, constantly pacing while crying out angrily, most likely worried and eager to get out of the kitchen and get to safety. Or, Atera thought as she got to her feet and wiped the blood on the edge of her overgrown sweater, just eager to dive into the action, and was pissed that Atera was taking her time.
Without another word, Atera ran to grab her bag and followed Zangoose out of the kitchen. She was sure everyone didn't need someone to yell to get out. Everyone was big boys and girls, and these people did not need to know they needed to fight. Running with explosions going off, however, proved to be difficult in heels. As soon as Atera met the cold, hard rain, she tripped. Beyond angry, she took off her heels and threw them overboard with a loud huff.
Zangoose cried at Atera, grabbing her attention to the sky. That's right, she thought, quickly looking around to see the second boat somewhat far off. OMEGA is attacking by sky and sea. Damn bastards...
"Zangoose," She barked, looking into the red eyes of the Pokemon. The Zangoose straightened himself, returning the steady gaze Atera gave him."Do you think you can fight for a while?"
The Zangoose unleashed it's claws, giving a loud and ecstatic cry with it's own grin.
"Good, because we will be fighting until we must go."
Zangoose liked the sound of that. Giving something like a war cry, he followed Atera when she ran towards where she assumed to be the deck. She didn't even pay attention to the feeling of the cold wet ship underneath her feet that was only covered by her pantyhose. The only thing in her mind that kept her running was determination. She already let OMEGA destroy in the past. She would be damned if she sat by and let it happen again.
Atera saw other trainers watching the skies, most likely watching out for their Fliers they had sent out to push back OMEGA's advancement. Skidding to a halt, she turned to Zangoose. "Zangoose, you are to Thunderbolt any OMEGA Pokemon that threaten to get to close to the ships."
It was Zangoose's only long-range attack, but Zangoose didn't skip a beat. Already, the Pokemon collected electric energy, appearing yellow for a moment before releasing it in a single, powerful bolt that surged into the clouds and out of Atera's sight. It seemed like a blessing now that there was so much rain. Zangoose paused after sending the Thunderbolt, scanning with it's eyes in the sky, and started again in another direction.

▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉ ☆ ★ ☆ Exz Exz gazed around them and the ship to seek for targets. He saw a woman commanding her Zangoose to struck thunderbolts upon the incoming OMEGA troops on the other side, a quiet trainer battling with his flying Charizard and Blastoise, and a confident-looking man looking heavenwards to his Pidgeot. Then he looked back to the side he's covering or governing and said to his Feraligatr: "This side is our responsiblity. Let's do our best!" Gator positively replied with a thunderous bellow. Exz lifted his arm and pointed at the incoming water vessels, carrying a few ready OMEGA troops. "Banish them! Don't even allow one to touch this ship. NOW!" After the loud and serious command, Feraligatr immediately dove from the Ambition's edge into the ocean below.
Even without any direct commands of what attack to use from Exz, the Big Jaw Pokemon bravely proceeded and did what he knew was right and what Exz wanted. Seizing not only his strength but also his amazing speed underwater, Gator tore through the unsuspecting OMEGA troops and their mini water transportations, using Bite and Dragon Claw. As a result, not only did their rides get lacerated but also the carried people fell and got submered in the raging waters. Most still persisted and attempted to just swim to go to the target, Ambition. However, Feraligatr's exhibition did not end there. Like a shark, he jumped from the waters to the air as high as he could, and with the help of the natural force exerted by Earth, which got the name gravity, fell back down to the waters, carrying a huge momentum. Due to that, a great tumultuous agitation was exerted, and created a disturbance traversing through a medium, also called a wave, on the waters. The water wave formed was thick and humongous that it pushed the OMEGA troops and the other incoming back-ups. Indeed, it was a pretty creative execution of Surf.
After the sweeping of a number of OMEGA troops, which caused a momentary absence of OMEGA force on the side where Exz is responsible, thanks to Feraligatr, Exz realized something. His undesirable prediction earlier came true. Ambition was now sinking! Exz quickly and loudly barked at his Feraligatr to come back. Feraligatr couldn't hear his trainer clearly though, thanks to the violent rain and the tempestuous exertion of force between the other rebels and OMEGA, but, he saw his gestures and face, which told him that Exz needed him urgently for something serious again. He immediately swam back to Ambition.
While Feraligatr was returning, Exz, already a little panicky, gazed back around the vicinity, and searched for the other ship, Steelstead. He thought of evacuating there, since Ambition was already faced directly to a miserable fate. He was hopelessly searching until a scintillating flash of lightning, thanks to the pretty bad weather and Atera's Zangoose, came and took the useful role of a bright flashlight. As a result, for a few seconds, Exz was able to see the Mist-covered Steelstead, or rather its shadow.
"GUUUUYSSS! WEEE'RE GONNA SIIIINNNKK! LET'S EVACUATE TO STEELSTEAD!" Screamed Exz as loud as he could. Although he wasn't so sure if anyone heard him at all. He looked down again and really saw that the Ambition was slowly yet surely submerging. That gave nothing good but trepidation to Exz. "Gator, return." In a flash of bright light, the wet Feraligatr was zapped back into his pokeball. "Dragonite, I need you!" Exz threw another pokeball which opened mid-air and released the bulky orange dragon, Dragonite. "We're going to the other ship! Let's do our best to proceed unnoticed by enemies, okay?" Dragonite replied with a 'yes' in pokemon language, and quickly let his trainer climb on his back before levitating himself with his mighty wings and flying speedily yet cautiously towards Steelstead.
However, Exz' hope was failed quickly. OMEGA was alert, and one saw the fleeing Exz and his Dragonite. Riding on his menacing Gyarados, the OMEGA soldier gave chase to Exz while constantly commanding his Gyarados to fire Hyper Beam to the flying rebel. "Argh! Keep dodging!" This went on for almost a minute, until Gyarados, among the two(because he's the one both giving chase and exerting draining attacks), showed signs of fatigue. "Retaliate, Dragon RAGE!" Dragonite turned around as quick as he could, that Exz almost fell off, and unleashed an almost uncharged ball of energy from his open mouth. The ball of energy plummeted straight towards the Gyarados and its trainer. Before the contact between the targets and the ball of energy was made, Dragonite and Exz had already turned around and resumed flying towards the safer ship, Steelstead.
Explosion was heard once again while they were speeding away from the scene and into a more isolated place. Soon, they felt and recognized that they just pierced through a mist. Overall vision became more blurry and vague. But they continued and did not even stop or decelerate Maybe it was due to fear also. "Hang on Dragonite. We're almost there." Finally, they now started to see the outline of the ship. As they went on, it became clearer and clearer, and eventually, they found themselves already above it. They descended and Exz intentionally fell on the ship's surface, flat on his back. He simply needed rest. He knew that there were persons here currently on the ship too, and he knew he should report to this ship's captain or anyone regarding what's happening. But, the state of his soul did not permit that. He just really needed rest right now. He smiled and told his Dragonite: "Great job out there. I'm proud of you." After the silent statement, he inevitably dozed off already while still retaining the smile.

▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉ ☆ ★ ☆ BALLADEOh s**t hell s**t s**t s**t--
It wasn't that she hadn't seen death before. She was no stranger to it, even violent death. But this--it was something past that. Past senseless. It was nonsensical, like seeing a lightbulb drive a car down main street, mowing down all the pedestrians. Something so ordinary becoming so baselessly, unaccountably sinister.
Her brain was stuck in the broken-record litany of curses. She didn't even feel like saying an "I told you so." Not now, anyway.
It took the sound of one-letter-whats-his-name finally losing his breakfast to break her free. "Aw, hell," she compromised, then scrunched up her face and let it fall back into an annoyed expression. Though most of the room's occupants had run off, a few still lingered in the kitchen. "What are you all standing around for?! Nobody's staying on this ship now!"
Abandon ship. Abandon ship. It was plain as day to Ballade that that was the only option left. Already the floor had begun to slope dangerously to starboard, and though the internal explosions seemed to have stopped, smoke from their resulting fires billowed from the stairwells. If her ears weren't still ringing, she was sure she'd be able to hear the steel structure of the boat groaning under the heat.
At least this room was still intact--for the time being. (She tried not to think of her own room. It wasn't as though she was attached to many things, but those she did have--) It was possible the other boat was still seaworthy, but if it wasn't, if they didn't know where they'd end up--
Supplies. They'd need supplies, supplies stored--aw, hell!--in the pantry below deck. At least there was less smoke coming from that stairwell, for whatever that was worth. She grabbed for her jacket, flung it on, fastened it closed. "Safeguard!" she instructed Nixie; then the towel from around her neck, practically soaked from its earlier use, went around her mouth and nose. On her way to the pantry stair, she swiped a pair of long ovenmitts and stuffed her hands inside. The lanky Dratini matched her stride, shivering once to cover the pair in a glistening mesh of a barrier.
It was just as well that fire had taken root in the pantry. When the engines went, so had the power, and while the kitchen had still been lit by lightning and the weak sunlight of the day, the pantry was windowless and dim. But even under the protective sheen of the Safeguard, the room was stifling--Ballade didn't want to think about what it would be like when the barrier faded.
The dry goods were all in flames: nothing usable there. But the freezer door was still shut, merely charred by the explosions. It was a small walk-in model, and Ballade knew exactly what they'd need from it. She pried at the lock mechanism, strained with Nixie's help to shift the solid door open on its warped hinges. Finally, it shifted enough for them to get inside, and Ballade slide in while Nixie continued to lever the door open to let in more light.
Ballade nearly tripped over an Electrode, Frozen solid on the floor of the freezer.
It was hard to swear with the quickly-drying towel wrapped around her mouth, but she felt she managed it pretty well. Though the freezer seemed to have maintained its temperature well through the previous explosions, the ice around the spherical pokemon was already beading under the heat from outside. Ballade gestured wildly at Nixie to stop opening that door and try for the other one. No point making for the kitchen stairs--when that Electrode went it could easily take out that whole side of the kitchen with it, the way the ship structure was already strained. And with the ship already listing to that side, if the hull was pierced any further . . .
Luckily, she could already make out her targets in the dim light: a well-sealed box of her berry-seed collection, nearly complete, and a handled case half-hidden under a mess of frozen Poffins. She grabbed both, squeezed back through the door, and shoved it as shut as she could manage. Nixie had just finished severing the hinges and lock of the door to the hallway with a carefully-directed Hyper Beam. Ballade slammed into the door with her shoulder. It gave way immediately, and more smoke poured into the pantry.
She tried not to look at the burning, torn ruin of what had been the living quarters. It wasn't hard. The smoke stung at her eyes even through the Safeguard, smearing her vision with tears. Thankfully, the far stairs still seemed intact, and Ballade, Nixie close at her heels, barreled to and up them.
At the top of the stairs she collided with someone, some person and a Flygon, though she couldn't make out which through her streaming eyes. "Out out out!" she shouted, voice muffled by the towel, and she shoved the figure--a young guy?--and pokemon toward the door to the deck.
They had only just reached the outdoors when the buried sound of the Electrode's belated Explosion echoed up from the lower deck. For a moment, nothing happened. Then the ship gave a great metallic groan, and the port half of the kitchen/common room tower crumbled in on itself. The ship shuddered a few more degrees sideways and dipped toward the stern.
Ballade pulled the towel from her face. The rain helped to rinse the smoke from her eyes, and in a flash of lightning she caught the shape of the Steelstead, silhouetted and free of the fires that illuminated the Ambition, vanishing into the mist.
"Get out," she told the boy--God, he was a boy, even younger than the others she'd seen running around the ship. "Get off this boat and get to the Steelstead, now. Take--" She was about to pass the cases to him when she realized his arms were already full, cradling a hatching egg. Hell. What a great place for a brand new life. "Take good care of that, and you," she added to the Flygon, "take good care of him, and get off this boat. We're going down!"
It was like living in an action disaster movie, Ballade decided, pulling the friend ball from her waist and releasing the Noctowl it held. Overhead, the sky was like a madman's firework show: dragons and flyers and trainers all dancing between bursts of lightning, throwing bursts and beams and themselves at each other. Below, the waters practically writhed with small ships and swimmers and a wave of Sharpedo gnawing away at the hull. And here, everything burning, collapsing, while people stood and stared at the sky.
At least now, she thought, she had a legitimate excuse for how much she hated that sort of film.
She mounted Tengu at a run and waved an arm at Nixie. "Help the Steelstead! I gotta get more people moving!" The Dratini flicked her tail once and made for the edge of the ship, while Ballade and the Noctowl veered toward the nearest trainer, some guy trucking around on a Metagross.
She didn't worry about Nixie's safety. She couldn't even think about it, and she knew Nixie was the same. They'd just both do what they always had, and survive.

▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉ ▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉ ☆ ★ ☆ SILVER ╱╱ ZEEZEE ☆ ★ ☆▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉
The boat gave an almighty shudder and the metal frame groaned. Silver was flung into the railings, bruising his ribs. He coughed, the smoky air burning away at his lungs. There had been another explosion in the kitchens and Silver watched in horror as the room they had all had their happy hellos in only a few minutes before began to crumple in on itself as though it were made of nothing more than paper.
The boat tipped more violently and he gripped hold of the railings, his knuckles going white. He was in the s**t now and he knew it. OMEGA were everywhere. The blast still rung in his ears and before his eyes were flashes of furious battle.
He watched as a man with turquoise hair swam past doing a violent front crawl, heading towards God-knew what. There was nothing to it, if he wanted to leave, he'd have to get in the water. He grabbed Sobek's Pokeball and released his Feraligatr into the ocean. He gave a grateful cry at being back in the water but the joy soon vanished from his oldest friend.
Sobek thrashed violently and roared at Silver again and Silver understood exactly what he had meant. “ Don't worry, 'bek, I'm coming.” And he flung himself, arms flailing, into the turbulent waves below.
-
Zee was suddenly very aware that she was the only person on board the Steelstead, bar Bosa who was furiously punching away at brightly lit buttons whose light cut through the smoke-tinged mist that engulfed them.
She stood frozen, her mouth hanging open, her eyes transfixed on the spot in the ocean where Wallace had disappeared. Another explosion occurred and she tore her eyes from the ocean and stared straight ahead.
The boat was alight. The tendrils of flames snaked across the surface of the water in the immediate area of the Ambition. Great plumes of smoke billowed into the air and the sky, already heavy with rain and thunder was giving way to a cacophony of screams and roars of the battling Pokemon that soared through the sky.
Sky... sky... aerial attacks... OMEGA coming in from above...
She plucked a Pokeball from the belt that still dangled in her hand and she studied it for a minute.
It had been a long time since Coal had seen a battle anything near as bad as this. And just remember how that ended last time, she thought.
But Wallace had told her to fight and she knew Coal would never fail her. Her hands shook as she threw his ball into the air and his enormous figure burst forth from a gleaming red light. He landed before her and immediately took stock of the surroundings. His eyes narrowed towards the sky and he prepared himself to launch. But she grabbed at his giant claws and he turned towards her instead.
“You need to promise me you'll be careful. This isn't like last time. This isn't Him. He wasn't worth nearly losing you,” she said and she stroked the top of his scales. “So these people definitely aren't. They are terrible. They won't hesitate to kill you. So you be safe and you come back to me in one piece.” She ran her fist across her eye, smudging the tears from them. “And don't think I don't know how many scars you've got. You'll get a right telling off if you get any more.”
Coal gave a snort and stretched his wings. As he jumped into the sky, an empty feeling gripped at Zee and she ran her hands over the Pokeballs clipped to her belt. They'd want to fight but none of them were all that well adapt for battling at sea. Not that that would stop Karra, but she couldn't risk putting them at a type disadvantage.
A dark shape was cutting through the water ahead. At first, she thought perhaps Wallace was back already and someone of a higher authority than she could take over, could do something. But it wasn't. It was the guy from earlier that had been shirtless during their introduction. His Pokemon was swimming exceptionally fast but she could see they were beginning to lag. Seconds later, an OMEGA grunt became visible, following him towards the boat, towards their sanctuary.
Oh hell no.
She threw the belt into the air and the Pokeballs burst open. Nessa landed in the water and Karra somersaulted through the air and landed on her shell. ZeeZee smirked. Her two eldest ladies were at it again.
“Addi,” ZeeZee said. “I need you to help that red haired guy get on this boat. He's one of us and he needs our help.” Her black and purple Roserade gave a curtsey and ran towards the railings, preparing her vines to pluck Silver from the ocean.
ZeeZee crouched down and scratched her Umbreon behind the ears. “Oscar, can you stay with me? I'll need you on top defence in case OMEGA get on board.” He butted his head against her hand in agreement and gave a soft cry.
Swallowing down the bile that was churning in her stomach, Zee threw herself at the railings and called down to Karra and Nessa to be careful.
However, in reply Karra promptly flung the makeshift club in her hands towards the OMEGA grunt that was tailing Silver. The spiked rock clocked the grunt in the face and he slid sideways off his Gyarados. However, the water Pokemon continued to power through the water, sending a wayward hyper beam towards Karra.
She took the brunt of the attack and slumped sideways on Nessa's shell. “Karra, NO!” ZeeZee screamed. Nessa gave a roar and sent an ice beam in the offending Pokemon's direction but it dodged it easily. The commotion frightened Max from the curls of ZeeZee's hair. The little Emolga spotted the prone figure of the Marowak and darted forwards, electricity building around him. He tackled the side of the Gyarados' head, and the Pokemon sparked before fainting, sinking beneath the waves.
Max soared back to Zee happily jumping in and out of her hair, celebrating doing something right. “You did well little guy, but Karra's really sick,” she said, patting his head and plucking Karra's Pokeball from her discarded belt. “Karra return.” A jet of red light engulfed the Marowak and Zee placed a gentle kiss on the Pokeball. “I'll get you to Bosa as soon as possible old girl. Don't worry. I've got you.”
Unhindered by the OMEGA grunt, Silver and his Feraligatr slowed to a halt at the edge of the Steelstead and ZeeZee's Roserade sent vines down to hoist them to the deck.
“ Thanks,” he said through gasps, collapsing to his knees and returning Sobek to his Pokeball. “ Your Marowak is crazy. What was she doing squaring up to a water type?”
Zee let out a strained laugh. “She does that,” she said, gripping Karra's Pokeball still tighter.
Concern flickered across Silver's face. “ Will she be alright?”
“Of course she will. The girl never quits.”

▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉ ☆ ★ ☆ BALLADE BALLADE'S DRATINIThinking back, the lanky Dratini probably should have looked before she leapt into the water. It was even an idiom: look before you leap. But really, there wasn't any reason to look: with the state of everywhere else, it was highly unlikely that anything or anyone she might hit along with the water wasn't someone or something she'd like to have bashed up, anyway.
So she didn't think--quite understandably--about looking before she lobbed herself over the tall edge of the sinking boat. But just how the one time you don't check your messages before you leave, you miss something important, the moment Nixie hit freefall she realized her mistake.
There was a man climbing up the hull of the Ambition. And though she'd liked to have pretend he was the enemy, she decidedly couldn't. His clothing, manner, his expressions were all wrong. She even thought she recognized him, though her human wouldn't: one of the Champions, probably the one who had been leading the other boat.
And he was climbing up the hull, and she was diving straight toward him.
There wasn't much she could do in freefall. She writhed in the air, trying to redirect her decent. Unlike the second-stage Dragonairs, which had been known to soar through the sky with their wing-like ears, Dratini had no such ability. Her ears gave her only the slightest drag, and her snake's body provided almost nothing in the way of air resistance. And despite all her length, with the hull sloping away from her she couldn't manage to hit it to push herself farther away.
Below her, she saw the man, startled, let go and drop into the ocean. And then--fortuitous!--her tail finally caught on a bit of the hull, bowed outward by fire and internal explosions, and she managed to flick herself just a fraction out of the way.
She dove at the water beside him, bursting through the inky surface. Below, she could see the shiver of Sharpedo barreling closer. This she had expected, though the man complicated things. Had he actually been swimming in this?
Her original intention had been a series of short-range Thunder Waves--sharpedo, physiologically sharks: must remain in motion or will suffocate--but with the man so close--no, no, think Nixie, not hard: just did this. She encircled the man, brushing his skin where she could, claiming him as part of her team. This was so much easier with Ballade or another pokemon. Other humans were so strange. But--
Safeguard!--the lacy barrier settled over them both, and Nixie unwound herself from the man, mentally targeted the approaching Sharpedo, and filled the water with a jolt of paralyzing electricity.
The first line of Sharpedo shuddered and sunk like stones in the water. But more were coming, would keep coming-- Sharks: frenzy; drawn by blood. Nixie surged forward, grabbing one of the sinking Sharpedo with her tail. Weak points: eyes, gills. She flung it out of the sea, into the air, then smashed it away with her tail, hitting it square in the gills. It landed a good distance away, and from the rush of Sharpedo that turned that direction, she guessed she'd been successful.
Okay. That bought a little time. Now to see to the man.

▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉ ☆ ★ ☆ NARCCIAfter the announcement was made, Narcci went back to his room to collect his things and pick up his Pokemon. When he got to there, large cracks were running along the surface of the egg that was resting on the pillow. Nova had her tail wrapped around it protectively. “Thanks,” said Narcci, patting her on the head. He returned her to the Pokeball and then he carefully picked up the hatching egg and started to walk up the corridor.
As he walked, he thought of his Pokemon, all those friends he had made on his journeys to each region. His thoughts lingered on Rayne, his Gallade, who had chosen to stay with Narcci's mother to protect her. It was such a shame that he'd miss the hatching of his child's egg, Narcci thought hugging the egg to him a little tighter. His thoughts were disrupted suddenly by a huge explosion from somewhere above him.
The boat shook.
Panic gripped Narcci’s stomach and all he could think of was, ‘Get out. Get out now.’
He started running down the corridor as fast as possible, heading back to towards the kitchen when another explosion rocked the boat. This time it came from below, the force of it causing the ground to jump. Narcci lost his balance, almost falling to the floor.
Nova came out of her Pokeball. She shot Narcci a look that told him to get on her back which he did as quickly as possible. They sped down the corridor and out through a hole that was blown in the side of the ship. They flew up high, the shapes of at least five flying Pokemon were speeding around them through the smoke.
Neither Narcci or Nova could tell where they were. The heavy rain made the black smoke even worse. Loud Pokemon battle cries sounded all around them and Nova kept darting about without a set direction, trying to keep Narcci as safe as she possibly could.
They were already being attacked and there was no way for them to escape. They’d have to fight, something that didn’t worry Narcci at all. “Let’s have some fun, shall we?” Narcci asked Nova in an overconfident tone, indicating to a Salamence and a Druddigon that were chasing them. “Try to Giga Drain the both of them,” Narcci said. Nova nodded and moved to do as her trainer said. He was thankful for the mist they had been chased into because it made them all the more difficult for their chasers to spot.
But Narcci’s attacks were predictable and the two OMEGA dragons could see a pattern forming. They found the perfect moment and Nova was hit first by the Salamence, the weight of its whole body smashing into her right side. She let out a cry but before she could do anything, she was hit again by the Druddigon with another body slam, this time from her left.
Narcci shouted attacks at her, trying to make her react or they’d fall into the ocean bellow.
Nova reacted as quickly as she could, but moving was proving a little difficult. The dragons were still nearby, waiting, circling around the injured Flygon and her trainer like a pair of vultures. Narcci was starting to feel worried now. “Nova, we need to do this quick please,” he whispered in her ear. He knew she was still recovering from the impact but he didn’t want her attacked like that again. “Now!” he shouted and Nova shot up as fast as she could in one swift movement. “Draco Meteor!”
An orange glow started to emit from Nova's body and a huge sphere of energy came out of her mouth and it rose to the sky like a bullet. The Salamence and Druddigon looked astonished, their eyes fixed on the sphere of light as it continued up.
The sphere started to divide, breaking apart into hundreds of meteors of different sizes. And then they began to fall. Nova flew as fast as she could to evade the meteors, whilst Narcci kept his head focused skywards to tell Nova where to move to.
The Druddigon was hit by a few large meteors quickly and it fell. But the Salamence managed to navigate through the falling sky. It tried its best to follow Nova, but the Flygon’s best skill was her speed and she darted forwards through the meteor shower, leaving the Salamence far behind.
The meteors kept falling and Narcci noticed, with a jolt of horror, that they seemed to be getting bigger and harder for Nova to avoid. She slowed down, wanting to keep Narcci as safe as possible, especially from her own attack but in doing so, the Salamence caught up with them.
A hyper beam came out of nowhere and hit Nova square in the side. She and Narcci dropped a few feet before the Salamence hit her again with another hyper beam.
It attacked repeatedly, Nova giving a cry with each hit she took.
“We can’t give up now Nova. Please,” begged Narcci, but she rolled in the air and Narcci slipped from her back, the two of them falling through the air towards the violent water below.

▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉ ☆ ★ ☆ WALLACEHe looked up just in time to see a Dratini heading straight for him. He had a split second to react and rather than let the poor Pokemon hit him (something that’d definitely hurt the both of them), he let go of the side of the ship. His body dropped the short distance back into the ocean below and he was once more engulfed in a cocoon of tiny bubbles.
He tried to kick back towards the surface. He had been unprepared for the sudden excursion back into the water and his lungs were slowly loosing their short stocks of oxygen.
He had to get to Steven. He had to make sure he was okay. But even as he thought of him, Wallace felt his legs begin to cramp up and he dropped a little further away from the surface.
He struggled a little but he instantly knew this was the wrong thing to do. His eyes grew more accustomed to the murky surroundings and as far as he could see, there were whole schools of Sharpedo, their noses trained in his direction.
His lungs were screaming in protest and his vision began to blur. You’re being reckless, Wallace. The Dratini swam around him in a protective manner, appearing to assess the surroundings. His chest gave another tight clench but this time it wasn’t because of his lack of oxygen.
The way her tail skimmed across his skin, he was reminded of Eleanor. Of the way she would curl her body tight around him to shield him from harm. Of the way she would playfully drag him through the surf.
Reckless, reckless...
A stream of bubbles issued from his mouth and his eyes fluttered close. His body began to drop faster a solitary, ghostly figure sinking to the depths.
A purple tinged light suddenly enveloped him and began to lift his still form towards the surface.
-
Everything was cold and wet and Wallace's lungs ached like he'd just swam for miles. He turned to the side and coughed, water issuing from his mouth. He collapsed backwards, confused and shaking.
His eyelids fluttered open and he was pinned down by a glare from Steven. Those turquoise eyes were mingled fury and concern and Wallace barely had time to react before Steven slapped him straight across the face.
“Don't you dare try and die on me,” he spat.
Wallace slowly shifted himself into the sitting position, bringing his hand to his stinging left cheek. “I wasn't trying to.”
“Could've fooled me,” said Steven. “You're a -”
“Not now, Ste. There's a time and a place and this is definitely not it.” Wallace ran a hand across the smooth back of Steven's Metagross.
“Alright. But who exactly is manning the Steelstead?”
“ZeeZee.”
“The little pink haired kid from Kanto?” asked Steven, clearly appalled. “Wallace, you are a Champion.” To emphasise his point, Steven poked Wallace hard in the chest. “Get back to the Steelstead and bloody act like one.”
As though on call, a great groan of sagging metal rent through the sound of battle and the Ambitions outline gave a violent shudder and tipped further.
“Fine,” Wallace shouted, jumping to his feet. He brought his fingers to his mouth and whistled loudly. “Forgive me for wanting to make sure you were safe.” A Swanna had dove from the thick clouds above and came to a halt by the Metagross. Marie's great wings were beating keeping her steady alongside and as they went down, Wallace jumped onto her back. “Next time I'll leave you to bleed to death.”
They began to fly, Marie's feet almost touching the water as they went. An Electrode came hurtling towards them from above and she dodged quickly to one side. She gave a cry and a jet of boiling water issued from her mouth and hit the electric Pokemon, sending it spinning rapidly through the air. It exploded mid-fall and Marie continued to dart across the skin of the ocean.
A rock fell from the sky and Marie swerved awkwardly to avoid it. And then another dropped and another. An airborne minefield was descending from the heavens. Marie danced through the meteors with increasing difficulty and it wasn't long until the Steelstead was in sight.
A rock clipped her wing and Marie span violently. Wallace was flung from her, yanking white feathers as he went. He crashed straight onto the deck of the Steelstead and he sunk into the blackness once more.

▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉ ☆ ★ ☆ LANCENo no no no get up! Stay awake! But the best Lance could manage was to keep from slipping under entirely, keep himself just on the edge of consciousness. He felt a hand searching around his waist, lingering on his pokeballs and pulling one free. But it wasn't . . . right. No, it couldn't be. The one on the end? But Akhekhu's ball was in the middle . . .
The splash of adrenaline reeled him back in. His eyes cracked open, and he reached out toward Clair--oh god, not Clair, he realized in a moment of lucidity. "No, that's--"
But already the Timer Ball had cracked open, spilling light out into a three-headed shape--
Cold. Wet. Rain.
(Surprise. Anger. Dislike rain, dislike cold!)
Noise. Metal-sounds. Human-yell. Pokemon-yell. Energy. Bursts--
(Rear back. Your noise is stronger. Roar. Three voice scream--)
Dark. Fire. Light! Dark. Lightning. Not-lightning lightning. Battle.
He does not like to send me out in battles. Not unless the battle is dire. And such he has done. I will destroy his enemies. I will devour them and burn them. I will taste their blood and smear it across this loud metal and let it mingle with the rain.
Blood. Blood-smell. Fear-smell/pain-smell. Anger. Human-blood-smell. Man's-smell. Man's-blood smell--!
(Find smell! Front? Behind! Turn. Need to see him--tail hit something. Unimportant. Care only about man--my human--someone has damaged my human!)
Humans. So small. So fragile.
How dare he try to leave me! He promised! He promised! He promised he wouldn't leave me alone!
How easy it would be to break him now, end him now, be free again forever--
But he is mine now. We are ours. He has not always been kind, but he has tried. He has made me stronger. Someday, he will let me show him just how much stronger.
This man is mine. He needs my protection, and I will destroy whomever tries to do him further harm.
The Hydreigon's Hyper Voice set off a new set of explosions behind Lance's eyes. He barely registered Not-Clair and the Audino clasping at their own ears. Orochi's ball fell from Not-Clair's hands and caught in the folds of his cloak. Lance groped for it blindly, found it, clung to it like a lifeline. At least the fireworks in his head seemed to dull the pain elsewhere. Had to get Orochi back. Couldn't control him--couldn't direct him like this. Get him to return before he hurt someone. "'Rochi--" he began, trying to lever himself up past the pain in his chest. (Oh. Oh, dizzy. Everything is tilting--why is everything tilted?)
A sudden movement made his head spin more. Orochi's tail swept around as he turned, tossing Not-Clair and the Audino down the deck. They flew, fell, moved much farther than he'd have expected, tumbling over the damaged railing and out of sight.
"No!" His body reacted before his addled mind, somehow finding its feet and pulling another less-familiar pokeball from his belt. A Kingdra emerged from it and immediately began sliding down the deck after the batted pair. "A girl and an Audino," he thought he heard himself say. "Overboard! Make sure they're alright!" The Kingdra bobbed its head in acknowledgment and flicked its tail to propel itself over the guardrail.
Then the action caught up with Lance. The dark lights at the edge of his vision blossomed darker and threatened to devour him again. His legs forgot their purpose and folded under him, and it was only the sudden presence of the Hydreigon and a quick grasp at his overlarge leg that kept Lance upright. Still, as much as his head was spinning, as much as the pounding pain kept growing and the scene kept tilting out from under him, he wasn't sure whether he or his breakfast would end up on the deck first.
"'Rochi--Orochi," he managed, face mashed in nauseous pain. It was getting away again. What had he meant to do? "Not going to leave you. Just . . . tired . . . for now . . . Need to . . . Try to protect . . ."
It was too much effort to speak, to stay upright. He felt his arms lose their grip on Orochi's leg, and he slid down again, down--
Fires in the sky. Falling fires. Ground slipping.
(Protect. Danger--protect.)
This is not a safe place, not for any. Especially for a broken human. I must take him away. Take him somewhere safe; leave this battle--
BATTLE.
Protect!
Falkor knew something had gone wrong--very wrong--as soon as Orochi's Voice echoed up through the clouds. The situation was bad, but there were too many allies around for Lance to risk bringing out the dark dragon. Unless things on the ship were far worse than he'd suspected.
The Dragonite hadn't had time to pay much attention to the ship below, not with all the OMEGA troops and flyers swarming the skies. Falkor had barely had a chance to breathe since they'd arrived, but now he stole a glance at the ship below and immediately wished he'd done so sooner. Even through the rain and fog he could see the fires and the dangerous tilt of the vessel.
Lance!
Twisting in midair, Falkor shot off a rallying roar at Fafnir and dove down toward the deck. He had to roast a pair of OMEGA's Steelix on the way. When they dropped from the sky, he slammed them with his tail, knocking them toward the water. This wasn't right. They had missed a few of the falling Explosion-users, but not nearly enough to cause that level of damage. And even Orochi couldn't have caused all of this in such a short amount of time.
Above him, Fafnir broke away from his own battle and took up his own dive toward the ship in formation with Falkor's own. Falkor motioned for him to stay aloft behind him--and then he could see them, the two, Hydreigon and human in the rain. Lance, falling toward the deck, Orochi's main head snaking around to catch him, pluck him up with his mouth--!
The sound Lance made--! That scream! It tore through Falkor like the pain was his own. No. No! He wouldn't--couldn't get there fast enough--
But as quickly as the Hydreigon had snatched the dragon trainer, he lifted him up, deposited him on his furred back. Lance's hands knit into Orochi's hair, clinging to it in exhausted panic.
His trainer, his best friend bleeding and broken on the back of--in the care of!--that creature--! Falkor drew up short in front of Orochi, and the Hydreigon's main eyes quickly latched onto his. The smaller heads writhed around, alternatively watching their charge and the mess in the sky. When a pair of Golem dropped from the sky, one too far from Fafnir for the Salamence to stop it, Orochi's right head pierced it with a precise burst of Hyper Beam. All three heads paused to roar defensively at Falkor. Falkor just stared back.
"'Rochi . . ." Falkor heard Lance say. "Find Falkor. Falkor and Fafnir. Need to . . . Have to get everyone off . . . Get them to the Steelstead . . ." He trailed off, seemingly needing to focus all his attention on clinging to the furred dragon.
Falkor exchanged a terse look with Fafnir. The one time they would disobey orders--the one time, it seemed, that they shared a purpose with that mad dragon--
He huffed a growling invitation at Orochi, flicked his tail once, and rushed back into the air. Even if Orochi would let him take their human, Falkor didn't dare transfer Lance more than necessary. But for once, they all had the same intention. He didn't have to look to know that the Hydreigon would follow.
Falkor took the front, leading and clearing the way. Fafnir took the rear, beating away tailing OMEGA troops with bursts of DragonBreath and smashes of his tail. And Orochi between them, flying smoother and straighter than Falkor had ever seen him do before. When a Sharpedo leapt from the water, drawn by the scent of Lance's blood, the Hydreigon's main head caught it neatly and Crunched it, then shared the spoils efficiently between the other two without breaking stride.
They reached the Steelstead quickly, and the trio landed in tight formation on the deck. At Falkor's gesture, Fafnir took to the air again, taking up a patrol around the intact vessel.
Lance finally loosened his grip on Orochi's pelt and slid bonelessly down the Hydreigon's back. Orochi brought up his tail to ease the man to the ground where he was immediately sick on the deck. The action left him curled on his side, clutching at his ribs and gasping unintelligibly. Falkor made a move toward him, but the three-headed dragon cut him off with a snap of his main head. Orochi moved to crouch protectively over his trainer, shielding him from the rain and prepared to defend him from whomever or whatever might try to take him.
No-fire. Less-noise. No-ground-tilt. No-ground-shake.
(Safe?)
Here is better. Here I can protect him. I will be his shield and his weapon. Orange-Always-By is weary, cannot take him from me. He said he will not leave. Not-leaving. Woe to those who try to take him from my care.

▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉ ▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉ ▉▉▉▉WALLACE☆ ★ ☆ ╱╱ ▉▉▉▉SILVER☆ ★ ☆ ╱╱ ▉▉▉▉ZEEZEE☆ ★ ☆ Noise, screams, scary scary scary! Where is my Papa? He said wait here and he would be back. But that was so long ago.
More noise. Boom. Big crashes. I don't like this.
Why is the boat moving again?
If we're moving where is my Papa?
It's my Papa's boat he must be here!
Papa will be mad if I leave but it's scary here. Big bangs. Bright lights. I will go and find the other Pokemon. He might know where my Papa is...
The tiny Wooper inched out of the Captain's Quarters and went rushing down the steps opposite him. He could sense many different Pokemon on board. Trying to find the curly-eared pink one would be hard. So many different smells and cries.
He came out onto the upper deck, rain dancing off his pink skin. Feels so good, so freeing, so lovely. Water water water water! He rushed across the deck towards the steps, his little feet skidding as he went.
Humans! And he hopped down the narrow flight of steps, running towards them.
-
“Can I ask why you're in your pyjamas?” asked Silver, his legs shaking as he stood up.
ZeeZee looked down at her body and blushed. Oscar nipped at Silver's ankle and gave a little cry. “I wanted to get comfortable but then the ship blew up,” she said testily. “And Os, that's not very nice.” She bent down and scratched him behind the ears again. “When I said you'd be my top defence, I didn't mean against our allies.”
“I'll remember not to get on his bad side,” said Silver, running a shaky hand over the Pokeballs on his belt.
“Is that Lance?” asked ZeeZee, her eyes narrowing in the direction of a Dragonite. It was being chased across the sky.
“Not Lance but they look like one of us,” said Silver. His hand plucked the Dusk Ball from his belt and he released Idra from her Pokeball. The Eelektross slunk out of her Pokeball in a blast of blackness. She hissed at Silver, bending her head down to reach his eye level. He ran his palm over the top of her smooth head and she closed her eyes in a lazy way.
ZeeZee took a step back from the appearance of the giant electric Pokemon. Max however, shot forwards, landing on Silver's shoulder, sensing the arival of a fellow electric type.
The Dragonite was drawing closer, still being tailed. But Nessa gave a cry and directed an Ice Beam at the Pokemon and they fell from the sky into the water below. The Dragonite dipped towards the Steelstead, flying lower until the trainer rolled off it landing on his back. "s**t!" screamed ZeeZee and she shot forwards, running across the deck.
The hat the trainer had been wearing lay a few feet away and ZeeZee had to jump over it as she rushed forwards. She dropped to her knees, her fingers fussing at the neck of his cape (what was it about the men in these parts and their capes?) trying to find a pulse.
The pulse in his neck throbbed and Zee pulled away through his tangles of blue hair, concluding he must simply be unconscious. “He's alright,” she called over her shoulder to Silver. She clambered to her feet and looked towards the Dragonite. “I know there's an infirmary close by, I can help you get him there if-” The Dragonite gave a cry. Horrible, terrified.
Something was falling from the sky.
An Electrode.
Two Electrode.
Four.
Seven.
Nine bombs waiting to blow.
-
Falling Pokemon. Bad Pokemon. Got that band on them. Not nice. Not nice at all. Need my Papa. My Papa will not like these bad Pokemon.
Papa will be angry with these bad Pokemon. But where is Papa? I want my Papa. It's scary here. Brown haired girl is screaming. Did she hurt the blue man? That Dragonite does not look happy to be near her.
The Wooper ran across the deck, keeping away from ZeeZee as he went. He gave a tiny little cry, his little feet slipping across the slick floor and his head darting around the unfamiliar surroundings.
The Electrode landed, hitting the deck with a smack. Wooper gave a frightened scream, trying to dodge it as it began to roll towards him. Another landed and another and another.
“They're not exploding!” Silver yelled at ZeeZee. “Why aren't they exploding?”
The little Wooper was surrounded by the Electrode that were rolling across the boat, back and forth with the movements of the ship.
“Damp!” she shouted back. “The little guy must know damp!”
“Idra, get them off here,” Silver said, patting the Eelektross again. She slunk forwards, her body writhing through the air. She reached the nearest one and smacked it with her tail, hitting it overboard. She swung her tail again and again, the spherical Pokemon unable to avoid her aim.
The last Electrode hit the water with a great splash and Idra began to float back towards Silver. But before she could reach his outstretched arms, through the thick cloud and mist that cloaked them, a brilliant blinding light shot into the air.
An ear splitting roar was heard and then rocks began to fall from the sky, dropping into the ocean below.
Her back stiffened and Zee looked towards the Dragonite once more. “Keep him safe. Get him inside if you can!” she shouted and then ran across the deck, ignoring Silver's cries to get inside, ignoring the indignant yelps of the tiny Wooper that had started hitting her with jets of water.
A large white shape appeared from nowhere. A Swanna span through the storm and Wallace was thrown from her back, landing ungracefully hard upon the deck.
The Wooper began to cry. He threw himself forwards nuzzling at Wallace's hand. Papa! Papa! Papa please wake up!
The Swanna landed a few feet behind him, her wing bent at an odd angle. She was giving soft hooting cries, clearly in pain.
Unphased by Wallace's arrival, Zee continued towards the side of the boat. She threw herself at it, gripping tightly at the railings until her knuckles went white.
“COAL!” she screamed into the air, all dignity lost. “COAL COME BACK! COAL!” She continued to scream his name until her voice began to crack through the strain.
But still she screamed and screamed and screamed.
Her left arm was itching, her brain was reeling... Lights that burned through your eyes squeezed tight shut. Fire and sheer power crashing over you in waves. Your Pokemon battered, their broken bodies being thrown to the earth. Nessa screaming in pain as her shell cracked, Karra's bone club being reduced to ash, Oscar already unconscious, Coal's wings tearing to shreds... Fire and death and blood and screaming.
She was an idiot. A fool. She still wasn't strong enough.
Would never be strong enough.
Would never be worthy.
-
Dirty Pokemon. Impure. Disgusting. Brainwashed. Controlled. All of them will fall from the sky. Not their fault, not really, but they're still tools of battle and this is a war...
Coal was soaring through the air, circling Omega Pokemon and hitting them with great bursts of fire.
Zee said to be careful. Always careful. Always cautious after Him.
Sky falls. Do not like. Too much like Him. Cannot be Him. I hope. Too trivial for Him.
Zee will be scared. Zee will worry. Must get back. Must must get... who is that?
Injured dragon, little boy about to crash. Bad bad. Why is that dragon not saving its human? Surely they must love, like I love mine?
Must help, help little boy and injured dragon... sick dragon... dying dragon. Oh no, no, no...
Coal sped forwards flying under the boy, catching him on his back and plucking the Flygon from the air.
Can hear Zee. Zee in trouble. Must get back. Must find her. Must make sure she is okay. Look after her, my Zee. She is afraid for me. But I am strong. I will protect her. Protect my Zee. Protect from Him.

▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉▉ ☆ ★ ☆ RED What happened next was a little confusing. By now, Red was already pressed close against his Shellshocker. Scared was an understatement, simply because he didn't want to drown. Shellshocker was an over-protective pokemon and decided he didn't want his trainer to get hurt.
The blastoise continued to shoot over hydro pumps until it had been realized that he could no longer do it. He slid back into Red, who stumbled backwards and placed his hands on the water pokemons shell. He looked up at the sky and watched as Electrodes began to fall. He expected them to explode, so it was obviously surprising when nothing happened. This was planned!
Red felt Muse tightening against his left leg and winced slightly, he could somehow sense the fear in the pokemon and could only sadly apologize mentally to the poor thing. He watched as his Charizard, Matchbox swung his large tail around, hitting the Electrode away from where the ships were at the time. He too must've sensed what was going on here. The Electrode all fell in what seemed to be unison and then finally Red had to give in. Without much thinking to it, he took out his pokeball.
"...." He sent Muse back into his capsule, even though it would probably be coming back out soon enough and then patted Shellshocker on his thick protective shell. The pokemon understood him and slid down the banister of the ship and off into the water beneath them. Red sat atop the pokemons back and looked up at the Electrode as they continued to fall beneath, some in the water, some on the ships.
Shellshocker continued to float atop the water, keeping Red completely safe.
Matchbox looked to his side as another Charizard came into the equation. He heard its trainer screaming for it to come back but only motioned for it to go ahead and help out! Matchbox used flame thrower yet again, fighting for the sake of Red and many others whose lives were pretty much more valuable than his own. Matchbox watched as Coal caught the guy and did a great job at picking Flygon out as well. A small nod in compliance to what had just happened and then roared out loudy. He shot out larger balls of fire and spun around, coarsing out more waves of the heated pain.
Red watched above his head as this all conspired and then heard a strange noise. Without any warning, there was a screech that could most likely cause an ear bleed of sorts. A huge outcry of a roar was heard and rocks began to fall into the water, striking it as it did so. Large splashes of water pelted at Reds coat and without even a noise made, Shellshocker skidded backwards, almost making Red fall off of him in the process.
Blastoise closed its eyes and soon flipped over, causing Red to be enveloped into the water. Red pulled himself off of the pokemons back and swam up and used the side of Shellshockers shell to arise from the water. He looked around and realized he'd lost his hat. He took out a pokeball, "Sorry..." He muttered, clearly saddened as he made Shellshocker return.
Red dove under the water after placing the pokeball back into his pocket and swam down to catch the hat. The water seemed to be rather heavy against his back, yet he could do nothing but swim further, faster. That was his hat! That was reds hat! Shards of rocks and whatever else was in the water floated aruond him, some scratching him in the process, but he didn't care. He could see the hat, he could see it clearly in the distance. Red reached his hand out and got the hat and turned to swim back up from the depths of the deep and visually black ripples of water.
Having gotten his heart, he shook his hair out and then placed the now drenched hat atop of his black tufts of hair.
Red took out his pokeball marked with a small electric shock and released Shellshocker. The pokemon opened its eyes and spun in the water. ' Red is okay! Red isn't hurt! ' Was all the pokemon could think without being able to properly vocalize it. He stopped spinning and lowered his head into the water, urging for Red to get ontop of him so he wouldn't have to worry about the boy drowning in this water.
Red did as the pokemon gestured and the looked around. Spotting some people in his perphiral vision, he lifted a hand as a waving gesture. He remembered the boy, but not the girl. Silver, was it? He tapped on Shellshockers hard exterior and it began to rush towards them, "..." With a small troubled and broken smile, Red titled his head in a small greeting of a gesture to the other two people.
'...Careful...' Blastoise mentally beckoned as he tipped over a little. Red stood up on the pokemons back and looked at what seemed to be a broken girl, "..." As always, Red didn't really know what to say to her. He just wanted this all to end after all.
And then it hit him.
Where was Blue? How could he be best friends with someone, if he had forgotten to go to his aid? A small sigh shook out of his throat and he mentally shook his head, telling himself to just forget about it. Forget about it for now. Soon, there was that infamous 'pop' of a noise and Muse was out of its pokeball yet again. The pokemon crept up Red's left leg, as always and tightened its grip around the 'legendary' trainers leg. Red tipped his hat down, now it just felt odd and soggy, but it was still his hat.
This was weird.
'I sure hope these people are reliable...' Was all Red could think, in hopes of choosing the right decision; Which was make himself known.
The noise of the rocks scampering and hitting the water had soon came to a stop, and all he could do now was wait. He turned to look up at Matchbox, who was as furious as ever, shooting fireballs every which-a-way, he bit back a small smile at the pokemon and instead felt his stomach drop. Red then realized he'd have to talk to these people.
He couldn't do that.
Red wasn't one for talking. He figured if his pokemon could understand his gestures, then so could a human. Blue sure could, right?
How utterly awkward.
Red bit back his tongue when he realized he was actually attempting to say something; his mouth had been opened awkwardly in an 'o' shape for a few minutes or so, he looked back to the two others, Silver and...and..? Maybe talking to people was reliable. Despite this thought, he kept to himself. If he could see living people, that was assuring enough for a guy like him.
Muse continued to constrict the boys leg in an affectionate squeeze. He didn't know what had conspired between the time he'd been placed back in his capsule and now, but now he just felt better. 'Red is happy~' The serpent of a pokemon thought to himself as he slid around the boys left leg. Muse may have been reliable in the affections department, but this definitely not what Red was looking for right now.
So, once again.
Red picked up his pokeball and made the serpent return, carelessly looking away from the imprint on his wet jeans from where the pokemon had been creeping.
