((Oh gosh, I'm so sorry. Totally lacked inspiration for a reply, but I'll try to reply more promptly now. ^^"))
It seemed to be a lot darker now, as Azul was able to make out shadows from the nearly-setted sun. He watched as his shadow grew and stretched on the ground, making eerie shapes. It was a good thing he had gotten used to such things, or else he might of been frightened by such trivial things. His past had taught him lots to fear, and this wasn't one of them.
Noticing Peyton pause, he turned his attention towards her, wondering what the problem was. It seemed... as if she was waiting for him to get in first. He peered into the cave, and wondered if there was something making her want to get in last. Besides the cave being small, it didn't seem like there was anything out of the ordinary. He turned back towards her.
"Are you sure?" he asked. It seemed it would be a lot warmer to sleep deeper in the cave then rest near the mouth.

((Ah, take your time. 83 I've had moments where I couldn't respond for a long time, too. xD My record is about half a year or so, I think. QV Q))
Peyton cocked her head curiously when Azul backed away, and she leaned down to sniff at its interior, pressing her ears forward as she did so to see what had been the cause of his behavior. It seemed just as she had left it earlier, when her brother had first shown it to her, with settled dust and the musky, faded scent of its previous inhabitants lightly clouding the fresh night breeze, and so she lowered herself, wondering if it was something only Azul caught notice of with his lower, closer-to-the-ground stature.
She sneezed when her shifting form caused some dust to rise, but past that, there was no change in result, and she peered at Azul, her mouth slightly parted with confusion. She was just about to ask him what was wrong when he, instead, asked if she was sure. Thinking he feared its depths, she put on a reassuring smile and nodded. "I am."

Mistaking her sneeze as a sign of the cold night air, Azul frowned slightly.
"It... might be warmer to sleep on the inside, since you'll be shielded from the wind..."
He turned his attention back to the cave. It may of been small, but it was enough for the both of them, yet... Azul wasn't sure if he'd be able to block the wind from coming inside the cave. Maybe if he was older, he'd be bigger... but he was still a pup. What use would it be trying to shield Peyton from the wind even if he did sleep on the outside?
A soft shuffling caught his attention, and his ears perked up instinctively, eyes scanning the area. It may of been his imagination, but he was pretty sure there was something watching them... Friend or foe, he didn't know.
"Peyton... did he hear that?"
He only hoped she hadn't, and that he was just overreacting.

Peyton rolled her eyes good-naturedly when Azul continued. "At this rate, we'll be out here all night," she said in mock exasperation, pressing her head to his side to convince him in while still maintaining her balance. She knew she wouldn't take no for an answer, and was eager to lie where it'd be warmer, but his question stopped her short.
"Hear what?" she asked excitedly, immediately standing as high as she could in search of her brother for, despite his youth, she trusted Azul's ears, and if he had heard it, then surely her elder sibling must be close. She was so filled with anticipation that she could not help but to howl a welcome, and it was only after she stopped did it occur to her that, perhaps, the origin of the sound that had caught Azul's ears was not friendly company, and she stilled her enthusiasm for a more wary, alert demeanor.

((Oh look, EXACTLY 2 MONTHS! /shot so hard))
The howl caught him off-guard, and he blinked as he watched her, eager-faced and tail wagging. It was then he realized that it could of been her brother, whom she had been waiting for the entire time. But... something about the sound told him it wasn't so, as he was sure her brother wouldn't be slinking around in the dark as such, and he would of answered her howl... Then again, he could be over-thinking things and it WAS her brother, who was only coming back with hushed movement in case she was sleeping. Or...
This was stupid. Azul shook his head to stop it from filling up with so many silly and somwhat irrelevant ideas. Regardless, he felt that he should at least check it out to find out what it was, if, at least, to satisfy both their curiosity. Although still a pup, he couldn't help but think it would be safer if he went by himself, as he would at least be able to get away faster if it were dangerous, where as Peyton may have trouble with her injured foot.
Turning his attention toward the source of the sound, he nodded at Peyton.
"I should probably go check that out. It might be better if you stay here."

((Almost one month on my end! We’re pretty quick about these things, aren’t we? 8D))
Peyton twitched her tail with uncertainty, cocking her ears as she did so to further search for the sound. She did not want the pup to go, and she did not want to stay. And yet, both had proven how stubborn they could be if it came down to it and although she was older than Azul, she was not an adult. Already he had shown his ability as a hunter, something she did not have, and something that would have been prized had they been in a pack. His skill and her age would have made their standings more equal, and already did.
She knew this, yet she couldn’t help but to see him as a pup. It was in her nature to defend one so young as the future of her species, for it played a far greater role when death came so easily and lives lasted for only so long as the wolf’s.
“I’ll come with you,” she said, sounding far braver than she had all day. She faltered when the sound Azul had heard earlier repeated itself, louder, closer, and angrier than before, but she still stepped away from the cave and turned in the direction of the noise.

((T-three months? Oh gosh what am I doing))
He really wanted to tell her it was alright, that he was able to do it himself and didn't want to trouble her, but his slight trembling might of given him away, and in all honesty, he was afraid.
True, he was still a pup, but he didn't see this as any reason why he should have anything to fear. His childhood was anything but pretty, and he had already seen what most haven't at such a young age. Yet still, this feeling of fright and unease kept nagging at him, and the thought of him going off alone truly terrified him. He was glad that Peyton had offered to go with him, yet felt a sense of shame that he had to rely on her, especially when she was injured.
"T-thank you..." he replied, still feeling embarrased she needed to come. Without another word, he turned his head back towards the sounded, and started to head forward.
