"Damn it. Simara must have been playing with my presets..." Yumi said under her breath, as she fiddles with the radio.
"There." Finally satisfied, she back out of the parking lot.
"This better be life-threatening. Or I won't have a job to go back to." Yumi sighed and drummed on the steering wheel.

Kurai finally arrived at Simara's house. Given the situation, he ignored all formalities, and simply opened the door and walked in, rather than knocking or ringing the doorbell. Her family knew him well anyway, and he was always welcome.
"I'm here, Simara. Has Yumi made it yet?"

Simara heard Kurai knock on the door. She found a cloth headband with the japanese kanji 'Hope' written in the center of it laying on her dresser and quickly put it around her forehead and under her hair.
'They'll never know what happened' she grinned to herself. They always picked on her because of her clumsiness, but this time she felt the situation was too dire for jokes.
She ran down the stairs and greeted Kurai at the door.
"No she's on her way though and should be here any minute. You know you're lucky my parents aren't here. My mother would've tried to make you try her new cake." Her mother was a great cook. She always cooked them huge meals whenever she had company and loved making them her 'test' subjects.

Kurai knew all too well how talented of a cook Simara's mother was, but he wasn't too hungry at the moment. There were more important things that made sure he would not be able to sit still to even eat a cookie, let alone a slice of cake.
"Well, it's a good thing they're not here, because as soon as Yumi gets here, I'm going to explain something really quickly, and then all of us are out of here. I need to show you something unbelieveable."

Yumi parked the white Sedan close to the curve. She took off her apron and toss her keys inside her messenger bag as she walk up to Simara's door. She knocked three times before turning around to scan the neighborhood.

Kurai, being in such a hurry, rushed over to the door and, seeing that it was Yumi, wasted no time in dragging her into the house, shutting the front door behind both of them, and putting both her and Simara on the living room couch, while he sat in a chair that faced them. He quickly checked outside all of the windows to make sure no one was watching, so he told them what he saw.
"Listen, you're not going to believe this," he said, "but I found some amazing technology. We're talking some top-grade stuff. Amazingly, it all looks like some sort of video game, only you can actually be put into the game! It seems to be near the campus at M.I.T., but no one has ever come to the news about it, so it must be a big secret! Fortunately, there was no security, other than its obscure location, which I found really strange. Anyway, you guys have to go see this! There's only one route to take, though, and I hope you don't mind the risk of getting a little dirty in the process. I can't really explain it clearly here, but you'll understand once we get there. Yumi, can we take your Sedan to the entrance to the path to what I'm talking about?"

After recovering from being forcefully moved to the couch, Simara listened intently to Kurai.
'A video game.....that's it?' She thought to herself. She picks up a peppermint from the candy dish on the coffee table in front of them and threw it at him. She narrows her eyes, deciding to voice her thoughts out loud.
"You jerk, you actually had me worried! All over a video game...I thought something was seriously wrong!...grr" she trailed off mumbling about how she tripped over a controller and cracked her head on a doorjam for a silly game.
She leaned back into the couch, crossing her arms and legs. 'Although I do like the thought of actually going into a game' she thought to herself. Blinking, she tilted her head regarding her midnight blue haired friend sitting across from her in the chair.
"Alright, I'll go." she responded and nodded her head. "I'm going to have to leave a note for my parents though, plus if we're going to get dirty I'm going to have to change," she said gesturing to her sleep attire.

Yumi placed her forehead in her palm. 'A video game,' Yumi thought. 'I nearly lost my job over a video game.'
"Alright then, " Yumi said as she thought, 'Got nothing else to lose.'
"Just going to have to change out of this uniform if we're playing dirty, and you are paying for a carwash if my Pearl gets too dirty," she stares at Kurai.
" Might want to get something eat."

"Don't worry, the car will be perfectly fine," Kurai said, reassuring Yumi. "I'll give you all time to get into more suitable clothing, and then we'll head on out."
"And as for the disappointment of the fuss being over a video game," Kurai added, "there's some other creepy things involved as well. Some of the data on the computer, including logs that the guy who made it left, is really weird. In fact, it seems to be almost the same as that one crazy thing they found in France, with the scanners and all that."

"Cool" Simara stated getting up from the couch to stretch like a cat. After popping several kinks in her back and neck, she headed up to the staircase.
"I'll be right back. I'll change and make sure my birds have enough food and water then I'll be ready."
She ran up the stairs leaving the other two sitting on the couch in the living room.

Yumi makes a quick trip to her car to grab her gym bag and ran to change in Simara's downstairs bathroom. Yumi stepped out of the bathroom in her Yoga gym clothes.
"Always a good time for yoga." She grabs her car keys from the messenger bag on the couch.
"All aboard that's going aboard!"

Kurai got into the car. He immediately claimed the front passenger seat, since he was going to be telling Yumi where to go. He pulled out his cell phone and placed a call to Jennifer. He waited for the other end to pick up and for Simara to get in the car.

Mindful of the objects littering her bedroom floor, Simara carefully stepped around the mess to get to her dresser.
'I really need to clean my room.' she though to herself and grabbed a pair of sweatpants the same color as her hair and a matching t-shirt. She heard her birds chirp quietly in the cage beside her bed. She walked over to them and peered into the cage.
"Good bye my babies. Momma's gonna be back soon." She proceeded to change their water and made sure they had enough food before heading out. She turned the lights off before closing and locking the door and starting down the stairs. When she reached the bottom she found a notepad and quickly scribbled a note to her parents letting them know she was going out with friends and that she would be back soon.
"Yumi, make sure you hit the light switch on your way out." Simara stated while turning the inside lock on the door so when the other closed it the door would lock. She grabbed her keys from the hook beside the door, followed Kurai's example, and got into the backseat of the Sedan and buckled up.

Jennifer pulled out her cell phone and flipped it open, seeing it was Kurai. "Hey, Kurai. You guys on your way?" She had a pair of jeans on instead of her rave pants, which were in her bag with her coat. She also had her hair pulled back into a tight pony tail. "Everything is clear on this end," she said, sitting on her motorcycle.

"Yeah, we've all just gotten in the car now," Kurai replied. "Go on ahead of us, make sure the path to the supercomputer is clear, just to make sure we're not detected by unwanted eyes." He then lowered the phone and told Yumi, "Basically, we're going towards M.I.T., but we won't actually go on the campus, but rather a little east of it. There will be a manhole on Belpois Boulevard that we need to go down in order to get there."
