Right after, D was challenged by Youngster Allen. As his opponent brought out Poochyena, D brought out Ralts, switched in Treecko right after, and watched the Poochyena perform Howl. Treecko expertly used Tackle, knocking Poochyena out, as D brought Ralts out as the same time Allen had brought Taillow out of the Pokeball, and suddenly, Ralts was once again not in the same position, instead Treecko. Taillow had used Peck, which had done a unusually large amount of damage from a small Pokemon, although not as efffective due to the Level difference. Treecko used Tackle once more, as Taillow had repeated with Peck. Treecko followed up with Absorb, sapping the health out of Taillow, restoring his own health.
Treecko: XP = 10/130
Ralts: XP = 20/90

Near at the end of the route, D saw that he had to battle Lass Tiana. As she brought out her Zigzagoon, D responded Ralts, and a quick switch with Treecko, who had received a Tackle. Treecko had used Absorb on Zigzagoon, defeating the Pokemon easily. Next up was Shroomish, as Ralts had been switched in and out of the battle once again. Shroomish used Tackle, with little effect, as Treecko used a Tackle of his own, defeating the opponent Pokemon with ease.
Treecko: XP = 90/130
Ralts: XP = 10/100

As soon as Chris left Oldale town he was confronted by another trainer. He walked up to Chris and said "Hey I need to train my poochyena wanna battle?" "Sure we could use it too" Chris replied.
"Alright lets go! Poochyena go!" He threw his pokeball and a poochyena came out. "Go Lance!" Chris threw his pokeball and Lance emerged. "Use Mud-Slap Lance!" Lance stuck his foot in the mud and ran up to Poochyena and slapped him in the face. Poochyena tried to tackle but missed. "Finish him off with a tackle!" Lance jumped back and charged at the poochyena making it faint. "Good battle" The trainer said "My names Calvin. I'll see you round"

Chris looked around route 102 for a little while and then a poochyena appeared. "Hmm sorry Lance but lets give Timmy a try. Go!" Timmy appeared. "Timmy use string shot then tackle!" Timmy shot a spray of silky string at the poochyena and then when it wa covered he tackled it and it fainted

A lotad appeared. "We could use a water pokemon" Chris said. "Lance go easy on it!" Lance ran up to the lotad and tackled it. It tried to get away but but Lance slapped its dace with mud. Chris threw a pokeball at it and it was caught.
The Lotad is nicknamed Lily

D searched in the grass before going ahead, finding a Pokemon to battle.

D came across a Seedot, and saw the Pokemon, sending out Ralts, switching, and simply watched Seedot use Harden, as Treecko knocked the opposing Pokemon out with Tackle.

Once again D looked into the grass, and heard a patch of grass move behind him, as he turned around to see a Pokemon.

Finding a Zigzagoon once again, D saw that the Pokemon was still not the same one, as he sent out Ralts, and switched automatically, while the Zigzagoon thought that the Tackle the Pokemon used had landed on Ralts, only to find that a Treecko was standing in Ralts' place. Treecko performed Absorb, completely healing himself, and caused Zigzagoon to faint.

D continued on his search to find more Pokemon, right by the exit of the route that lead to Petalburg City.

Again, D had his Ralts be seen by the wild Poochyena, and then displayed his Treecko. Poochyena had used Howl, but Treecko then used Absorb, healing himself completely once again, and fainting the wild Pokemon.

D decided to look for a few more Pokemon before going into Petalburg City, where he knew of where the fifth Gym was located at.

D had already switched Ralts out of the battle when Surskit performed Bubble, which had barely an effect on Treecko, who used Absorb, defeating the wild Pokemon, and back to full health.

Chris came to a small house with a dock. Chris walked up to the house and all he could hear was a wingull. He knocked on the door and he could hear the old man yelling. Chris knocked on the door but he sill only heard yelling. Chris knocked even harder. Finally the man came to the door and opened it. "Can I help you" The man said "Well I heard yelling and everything and I wanted to make sure everything was alright" Chris replied. "Well can you help me calm down my wingull?" The man asked. "Sure! Do I get anything in return?" Chris asked. 'I can give you free rides on my boat?" THe man offered. "Sure." Chris walked into the house and saw the wingull. "Calm down wingull" Chris said motioning his hands up and down. The wingull still was running a muck. Chris ran around the table but the wingull fly in front of him knocking him over. "Don't you have a pokeball for him?" Chris asked the man. "No I never needed it" The man replied."Ok..." Chris said "DO you have any thing that usually calms him down?" Chris asked again. "I tried everything" The man said. Chris tried one more time at tackling it to the ground and he landed right on top of the bird and Chris turned to his back so he wouldn't fall on top of the bird. "I think I got him" Chris said. "OK put him in his cage, over by the TV" The man said and Chris put the bird in the cage "I'll keep him in there until he calms down." "Well thank you I still get the free rides right?" Chris asked. "Yes you do" The man answered. "Awesome! Thanks" Chris said excitedly. He shook hands wit the man and walked back into route 102.

When Chris was walking he saw a surskit trying to get over to the water and struggling on land. "Lily go!" Lily emerged from the pokeball. "Lily use absorb!" Lily shot a green orb at the surskit and then it came back to Lily the surskit was really struggling now. "Pokeball go!" Chris threw a pokeball at the surskit and it was caught.
