As of right now, you are a maiko. When you have gotten either 10 requests for your presence at a party by one patron or 5 requests (each) by 2 patrons, you will become a geisha. Right now, we are still working on setting up a party system.

Umm...you need about 20-40 posts to become a maiko...depending on their length, it may take merely 20, or if they are really short, it may take as many as 40 to get you to maiko.
As for maiko becoming geisha, the information is what Nitta said...though we may be altering this a bit...to include doing missions with patron as getting you the ability to have the chance to earn your geisha-ship through that, alone with the main teahouse rp...
Still in the works, though, so currently nitta's answer is correct.
As for Shiro's question... the posts only count in the okiya. maids aren't allowed to go into the teahouse, unless requested to go by a geisha or maiko to bring an instrument or go and fetch something. Requests that like.

I have a few questions...
You begin as a maid correct?
Should you submit a picture even when you are a maid so the guild mods have one of you for when you become a maiko?
Where do you go to get a kimono?
Are maiko allowed to enter the teahouse without the accompaniment of their onee-chan or another maiko?
Are maids ever allowed to leave the okiya before they become maiko?
And is the Hall of Ceremonies used when a maid becomes a maiko?

Excellent questions...
You begin as a maid correct? Since we implemented this a few days ago, yes. You begin as a maid.
Should you submit a picture even when you are a maid so the guild mods have one of you for when you become a maiko? If you have one, submit it into your profile.
Where do you go to get a kimono? Aekea has a shop where you can get one. You can compare prices with the Aekea shop and the ones on the marketplace (found in the Isle De Gambino) to see if you can buy one a bit cheaper. We do not provide kimono to the users in this guild, though. There are too many users and too little funding to do this.
Are maiko allowed to enter the teahouse without the accompaniment of their onee-chan or another maiko? Their onee-chan will most likely already be in the tea house, so there is no real need to worry about this. But the maiko are not allowed to attend parties without their onee-chan.
Are maids ever allowed to leave the okiya before they become maiko? No, unless a maiko or geisha specifically asks them to do a certain errand for them.
And is the Hall of Ceremonies used when a maid becomes a maiko? Not yet...but this is an interesting idea. We may implement this into the hall of ceremonies, but for now it's just going on in each okiya. When a maid has reached a moderate amount of posts, then the head geisha will be able to npc as the okiya mother to tell the maid that they are eligible to become a maiko. Praise the maid...yadda yadda yadda

More questions...
I have no idea what I ought to do. I'm now a part of this guild, I PM'd you about position, Okiya of choice, etc, and I'm still confused. Am I allowed to post in my Okiya now? Especially since I have no idea which one it is?

If you've taken the test in the Okiya Placement and Profile thread, then I edited a bunch of them this morning with what okiya you are supposed to be placed in. Those okiya are in the Geisha RP forum.
If not, you must take the test and post a profile to proceed into one.

I have an idea . . . For those who do not have a kimono perhaps there a could be a contest of some form around Christmas to give a kimono away. If the members of the guild raise up enough gold, one of the crew members could select a kimono and wrap it. Then, of course, who ever wins the contest gets the kimono.
I have a few ideas for contest: poetry, best avvie, bumping, a dance off? (rp style type one), etc.
What do you think?

I've tried these sorts of contests with my own guild before. I refuse to head it up myself, but if another crew member wants to, knock yourself off. No one ever participates in them and it's a waste of time when no one participates in them. *sigh*
I have no funds for it, anyways...I'm sponsoring the newbie for December in my charity.

A little advice...
Hopefully someone can advise me... There are a few things on my wish list that I'd like to get, but the only place I can find them is in the marketplace. Unfortunately, I cannot raise that much money to buy what I'd like in the short amount of time I'm given. What should I do?
Things on the wishlist...
Angelic Sash Staff of the Angels Parisian Blue Fan Royal Blue Kimono
(not in any particular order)

Second of all...the CHEAPEST item on your list is around 8-12k. The most expensive item is 3 million gold... stare our guild is not a rich one. our money system is based off of a pretend yen system, where geisha make "money". anyways...I would try the quest forums...under the Gaia Exchange forum, there is the charities/quests subforum. Make a thread there. That's where you will get the most response.

Curious, how does a maiko/geisha become a part of the ninja/samurai threads, or is that only open to the guys of the guild? Thanks for your time!

Well...you can just talk to Omega_Virus and see what he thinks. He's the patron crew member of our guild.
Also, suganuma is heading up a mission. Maybe you could talk with him if you'd like to help with that thread. ^^
