((hmph. talk2hand
and as for Doku, nope. when he was alive he was a "one woman man" who never actually got to that stage with the "one woman", and as a shinigami, well, you can read his bio, does he seem like the kind of guy a woman would want to get close to? ))

Doku's mind was in chaos. emotions, memories, feelings, and plenty of other things that he thought he had successfully sealed away had suddenly resurfaced. And after only a moment of contact! 'It's like puberty all over again,' he thought ruefully as he futilely tried to gather his scattered mind. It didn't help that he had apparently been stabbed by the thorns of his own weapon. It looked like in the impact, several thorns had been driven into Doku, and he somehow hadn't noticed...
...
Before he could regroup, he sensed Hisame's approach. She was coming for him at high speeds, again, and she wasn't going to just stop let him strategize once she got there, so he would have to do something he rarely did. Act on impulse.
Just as Hisame raised her halberd, Doku stopped running and let himself fall, face first into a snow drift, which had it's pros and cons. Sure, he had dodged his opponents attack and not gone squish when he hit the mountain, but the sheer cold of the snow he was now chest deep in almost knocked him unconscious. However, he did manage to stay coherent long enough to say "Bankai...Reveal the great Dragon, Mujitsu Kusubana Kurokasai!" Immediately Doku's sword dissolved into a swirl of blue petals. These petals circled around Doku for a few seconds, looking pretty (and melting the snow for about ten feet in every direction) before falling to the ground and sinking beneath it. The resulting surge of energy was enough to keep Doku awake in spite of the temperature. "Come and get me then!" Doku called up to Hisame, feeling confident.

(( Aha, I see. I guess you're right. xD ))

Hisame was a bit surprised as she watched her opponent drop to the ground. At first she'd wondered if he'd fainted, but as she descended towards him, a swirl of petals engulfed him. Obviously some form of attack. Thinking the petals might be a weapon of some sort, Hisame slashed uselessly at a few of them. Paying her no heed, the petals fell from the sky and sank into the ground. The ground, where there was somehow no snow. Although this puzzled her, Hisame wasted no time on studying it. It didn't look like Doku was up to anything and her hand was still sticky with blood from where the thorns had dug in. The gloves she wore hadn't been enough against the thorns. A hand unable to grip wouldn't work for her next move.
She used the edge of the halberd to cut at the white cotton underpiece to her uniform and formed a white strip of cloth. Holding one end with her teeth, she quickly wrapped the cloth around her left palm as a bandage.

"Come and get me then!" Doku called from below her. Now the 11th squad captain gladly complied, although she had a feeling that the melted area on the ground was now a hazard. Pushing off again, Hisame bolted towards Doku. As she did, halberd braced in her right hand, she used her bandaged left to draw the short sword that hung at her hips.
Forming a zig-zag pattern through the sky, Hisame bore down on Doku. A short distance away, she slid to a halt and using the momentum of her rapid descent, she pulled back and threw the halberd with incredible force straight at the 6th squad captain. The heavy-tipped weapon with its dragon head decor and heavy wooden shaft flew at an alarming rate, aiming to pierce Doku straight through the guts.

((Of course I'm right, I'm ALWAYS right. except when I'm wrong.))

'What's she thinking?'
Doku wondered as he watched Hisame's zig-zagging approach. It wasn't until she had almost thrown her halberd that his body caught up with his mind and he shouted "Defend!". However, though the lightning fast growth of the rose-vines around him DID stop the halberd from disemboweling him, they didn't quite appear fast enough to completely save him. Pain blossomed. 'Damn it! She's good!' Doku thought as he stumbled a step backwards, and then fell forward onto his knees, careful to avoid the ornate blade which still protruded into the safety of the rose bush. Letting the dome of protective vines wither, Doku snatched at the halberd and leaned on it as he stood unsteadily, with one hand held over his wound. "I believe this belongs to you?" he asked, referring to the weapon at his side, while barely maintaining his customary monotone.

(( Lol. We're always on at close intervals but manage to miss eachother everytime. XD Although it takes a few minutes to write a post like that, it would be fun if we were both on at the same time. XD I'm gettin into this battle. ;D ))

Hisame pursued her weapon down towards the earth, watching with a frown as a wall of vines appeared and engulfed the halberd. She looked on as she descended, wondering if she'd managed to hit her mark afterall. The very tip of the shaft was still visible through the vines.
"Sentou haire. Taka." Hisame spoke the command for her second weapon. There was a small fluxuation in her reiatsu as the short sword transformed. Now was as good a time as any for Taka to enter the battle.

As the vines withered, the wall crumbled and Doku came into view, Hisame took another shot at him. She took note of the growing stain on the front of his shihakushou and grinned.
"I believe it does, so I'll be having it back now," she replied as she raised the naginata and swept down in yet another vertical slash.

'It's almost to easy.'
Doku thought, before saying "Entangle!" Suddenly, dozens of vines burst out of the ground surrounding Hisame, reaching for each of her limbs as well as her neck and torso. Several even wrapped around the Naginata and held it still, stopping it's deadly plunge about six inches before it actually hit Doku.

This was IT. If he actually managed to snag Hisame in his trap, Doku had essentially won the battle...

((there would be more, but I would feel bad if I posted it without giving you a chance to escape first... Also, sorry about the relatively late reply, I had yard-work to do.))

Hisame uttered a curse as she noticed the vines straining towards her. She should have taken more caution when those petals fell into the soil. However, Hisame was famed for her brute force and ability to deal with obstacles effectively while improvising.
The vines seemed to go primarily for her weapon, as if they assumed the naginata was the most dangerous aspect of their target. Despite attacks from all sides by vines wrapping around her ankles and waist, she kept a good grip on her weapon.

The vines were definitely alive, but they were still just plant matter. With a hard enough pull Hisame was able to rip the vines from her weapon and go about hacking at the rest of them. One hand held a tight grip to Taka and the other brandished a knife the captain had pulled from her sash. The blade was sharp and did a quick job of slicing through the thorny ropes, but they were unrelenting. She knew she had to get out of the mass before they managed to overtake her and then an idea struck her. Most plants couldn't function as well in cold climates and the higher she went the colder it got. Her goal now becoming altitude, she used what small bursts of flash step she could to get higher, still fighting off the vines as she went and keeping Doku in focus from the corner of her eye.

It was just to much, Doku almost smiled at Hisame's attempts. Every time she cut a vine, the severed section fell to the ground and became mulch almost instantly, working as a sort of super-fertilizer, making the other vines grow visibly longer, stronger, faster, while the stump simply regrew what it had lost. Admittedly, she was gradually fighting her way free, but it wasn't ABSOLUTELY necessary for her to be trapped in order for Doku's bankai to be most effective, after all, a good strategy isn't a good strategy at all if it leaves no room for improvisation.

So Doku simply watched as the vines whipped and thrashed all around Hisame, trying desperately to find a grip on her that she wouldn't be able to cut her way free of, all the while inflicting as many cuts and nicks as possible. long or short, deep or shallow, all that mattered to Doku was that they were there. Because he had a plan. 'Go ahead and run little girl' Doku thought. 'staying out of the jungle won't save you from the fire...'

((It's about time for the 1st round of the tournament to end, and since Ashes isn't here for the time being, I'm in charge of judging the outcome of each match. :s

Doku, you really need to work on your approach to things. Your posts come out VERY redundant, using Kidou a majority of the time. You are NOT the captain of the Kido Specialists squad, so try to tone down your use of kidou. I liked your strategy though, and your attack at the end.

Hisame, you did a good job at finding ways around Doku's attacks. There are some places where you could have improved, but overall, I liked your posts and attacks. I really like how you used the female body to your advantage....xDDD

This was a great battle, but I'd have to say that the winner will be....
Hisame. Based on your attacks and post style, I must say that you will be the winner of this match.

Doku, you would have won this if you didn;t use so much kido and made your posts a little less repetitive. Try using more pronouns, and not just your name over and over and over again. :3

Good job to both of you, and congrats to the winner.

NOTE: This was NOT a biased choice. neutral

((um, I'm gonna try real hard to say this without sounding like a sore loser...

first off, just because my squad doesn't specialize in kido shouldn't necessarily mean anything. A captain has more power at his disposal than a normal shinigami, so they're not restricted by that, and a captain should be able to fight however they need to, adapting to the current situation, meaning that if kido is what they need, it should be what they use. Hisame was an opponent known for her use of melee combat. Doku would have realized this and reasoned that kido would keep his opponent far enough way that she wouldn't be able to fight back and would also do damage at the same time, putting his opponent at a relatively large disadvantage. therefor, kido was the best way to go and I shouldn't be punished for doing exactly what a skilled captain SHOULD do, IMPROVISE.

and secondly, if you look back at the posts, you'll find that it was ME who used Hisame's body to her advantage. I threw that in because I thought it might make the battle that more interesting and funny.

As for the reuse of pronouns, that is a valid point and I thank you for it. I am relatively new to roleplay and I've never been very skilled at writing long passages. I will work on post redundancy and try to become better at posting in a way that is interesting, funny, and easy to understand.

Finally, I realize that this post has no affect what-so-ever on the outcome of the fight, but I NEEDED to express myself on certain issues, so I did. Thank you for your time.))

((You have a point on the kido, I see that now. BUT, like I said, it made your posts redundant and boring at first. Once you started using other techniques, your battle got more interesting.

Ah, I see what you mean, you DID use Hisame's body to your advantage. I apologize for that mistake.

You used some good strategy in this fight, and you did well for being a relatively new roleplayer.

Good job. 3nodding ))
