MYTHOS
Mythos had despised the idea but it had to be done. This was the only way the Mastermind would forgive him. Mythos needed to blend in with modern day society, get some people to trust him, lay low for awhile. Mythos had failed Mastermind miserably recently at one point before Delmor High School had had their apparent prom, 'What ever that is...' thought Mythos. Because of Mythos's failure though, he had been wounded and when Mythos even gets the slightest cut, it is like all of his insides came out and would not stop bleeding. After his failure, Mastermind needed to clean up Mythos and Mythos was even more thankful for that. Mastermind did not have to do that for Mythos. Mythos had failed Mastermind so many times before and his master was so forgiving. In order to make up for failing to kill James Cross, whom Mythos knew Mastermind thought James Cross was meddling too far out of his own business for his own good, Mythos would now have to blend in with normal society. Mastermind had already taken care of giving Mythos a new name, passport, social security card, etc. Mastermind had those kind of resources.
Mythos hated this job, but he loved his master. He would not fail his master after his master had done so much to help him grow and become strong. But Mythos was starting to get agitated with the boy behind the counter who seemed to be eying him so strangely. Mythos's facial expressions did very well to hide his agitation, something that his master had also been very helpful with. Mythos's goal was to make friends though and the girl in front of him just seemed to radiate a kind of power that Mythos wasn't so used to. She seemed to compose herself very well, yet there was a kind of danger about her. Could she be a potential ally in his quest for now? Maybe so.
Mythos tried to let go some of his tension, in his shoulders, back, face. He looked like his usual deadpan self and in order to not freak the hell out of people he would have to do everything that the Mastermind had always told him not to; at least that's what Mastermind had told Mythos. Mythos tried to put a friendly smile on, but after failing several times, Mythos tapped the bright red headed girls shoulder and said, "Hello. My name is Daniel. I'm new here in the neighborhood and I am just being as annoying as possible to anyone so that I can attempt to make new friends."
Was that too much? Mythos had tried to sound light and happy, but it didn't come off much like that. It sounded like it had pained Mythos to say those words and not to mention they had sounded so monotone. It didn't matter now. Now all Mythos had to do was wait for her reaction and hoped to god that that stupid, moron behind the counter stopped staring at him.

Anthony's frown deepened as the figure lost the shape and stature of his brother and became someone entirely different. And much to his surprise he seemed to be tangible too. He needed to recover from prom and the events that had transpired before where he had been wounded so badly. Crime Never sleeps, He smirked to himself. The figure that he had mistaken for his brother was an odd fellow, even to Anthony's standards. He had started making conversation to the woman in front of him (whom Anthony was serving too, much to his irritance) but came off as pushy, perhaps even cynical. Not that Anthony could say anything. Whoever he was Anthony got a bad vibe from him and decided to interject, "Excuse me sir I'll be with you just after I finish her order." He said trying not to let his satisfaction show.

MYTHOS
Mythos looked at the petty person behind the counter and tried not to smirk. Who was this irritating little ingrate? Mythos stared hard, and cold into the boy's eyes and said with no emotion in his voice, "I am sure you will be sir. It must be an easy occupation to stare off into space. Does the coffee make itself?"
Mythos couldn't take it. His emotions were getting the better of him, but he needed to get this boy back after his condescending insult. Mythos focused on a huge stack of empty, plastic coffee containers and using his mind, Mythos made the coffee containers fall onto the ground at the boy's feet. Costumers turned to see what the commotion was. Knowing full well that Mythos could easily manipulate the situation he then said, "Oh how clumsy of you. You should clean all of that up. I am sure that's in your job description as well... or are you going to stare off into space and magically make them clean up themselves I wonder?"
Mythos couldn't contain himself any longer; he let out a smirk because of the mischief he was causing.

"Hot. Irish Breakfast, with extra Irish," she replied, after a little deliberation. The guy behind the counter looked a little distracted, and he seemed to be getting tenser and tenser. She decided not to comment on that... he doesn't seem to be in a receptive mood. She then realized there was somebody behind her. Sometimes you could just tell. It might've been body heat or shadows or a change in the air right next to her skin, but something told her there was an unfamiliar presence behind her and that it was close. Then, she got a tap on the shoulder to confirm her suspicions. After hearing his little line, she chuckled. But, before she could give her little analysis, the two men decided to start sniping at each other. This, she decided, would be a very fun day. The other boy seemed to act like a complete jerk, which could be quite interesting. She decided to join in. "You never know. In this city, I wouldn't be surprised if he could. Not that he'd be able to do it out in public--I'm afraid the poor boy has to do it all by himself." She turned around to face the troublemaker. "So, you're trying to make friends by being annoying and blunt, eh? So, does friendship merely require consent? Or, perhaps, you're looking for a fence. Then again, for better or worse, you do seem like an honest gentleman. Then perhaps you can answer this for me: what is your purpose for life?"

MYTHOS
Mythos was perplexed by this comment and cocked his head sideways. Nobody, besides the Mastermind has ever asked a question this complex before. Mythos decided that this girl may be a very good candidate for a "good friend," but Mythos needed to dig deeper.
"The meaning of life..." Mythos thought back to his recent experiences and then looked at the girl and said, "Sorry my friend, but this is not a valid question to administer on account of the meaning of life is what one makes of it. My meaning could be completely different from yours but as far as my meaning in life..." Mythos thought and then continued, "... it is knowing who exactly you are and what you can do with the power given to you. I hope that was a reasonable answer."
Mythos's entire answer had been in that same monotone voice. He needed to mask his emotionless voice and make it, well, filled with more emotion. Mythos was surprised with his answer to this girl though. It had been the first time Mythos had really thought about something without being told how to. This is a feat that scared Mythos, but being the great actor he was, Mythos covered up his face so that there was no trace of emotion that the girl would be able to see on his face.

"Excellent, Your total comes to four dollars even. We'll have that right out for you ma'am," Anthony said as cheerily as he deemed necessary. Now he heard a voice in the back of his head that was telling him not to trust this man. He gritted his teeth, even the evil can't be denied service in a public place in broad daylight. "And what can I get started for you sir?" He said adressing the man who seemed to be locked in conversation with the woman, though he seemed a little uninterested, at least this was the impression Anthony got with that monotone voice. He couldn't help but smile with a little satisfaction in interupting this man's conversation. And the best part was he didn't have to hide this smile because smiling was considered friendly in a coffee shop. The voice in his head told him to be cautious, and he would heed this advice for the moment, at least until he knew what this man was capable of. But then a second, calmer voice came in. It was that of his deceased monk friend warning him not to assess everyone as a threat. Unfortunately for said monk's wise advice the cups around Anthony spontaneously fell over with no particular cause and the man accused Anthony of knocking them over. Anthony's threat assesment of this man suddenly went through the roof and his brain was going haywire with alerts. "How odd that cups should fall seemingly on their own," He said as his eyes narrowed, "I'd best get someone to help clean that up then. Afterall someone has to keep things running smoothly."

MYTHOS
Mythos just stared at the boy. In a few moments Mythos was going to fly off the deep end. Mastermind's training could only sustain a little bit more of this boy's nonsense before this whole establishment came down. Mythos looked at the girl and said, "I apologize full heartedly that this boy keeps disturbing our talk."
Then Mythos looked at the boy and said, "You are perfectly right my friend. Someone must keep this place in order and since I only see you in this dashing establishment, then maybe that someone is you. I know that when my... employer... leaves me in charge... I make sure my duty is carried out to the fullest."
Mythos had gotten all of his anger out in this couple of sentences and the emotion did not touch his face once. In his words, even Mythos could tell that his words were intense and on edge. If this boy kept pressing, it would be bad news. Mythos then calmed down a bit and decided to try and stop this madness before it got worse. Mastermind would be livid if Mythos blew it on his first day. So Mythos looked at the boy again and said, "Well... I would really like one of your finest danishes please. That stuff hits the spot."

Mariana handed over a five-dollar bill and turned around, casually ignoring the fact that she should expect to receive change. "Well, I DID ask for your meaning of life--that is to say, the meaning of your life. Interesting reply, though. You say that you want your self-concept to be precise, yet you imply that it is relative. It's not an entirely unreasonable position, so long as you can reason it well." She looked into his eyes pointedly, watching his deadpan mask crack around the edges. However, it was then that the two boys started up again with their petty little argument. She wouldn't have this. "You both insist that this place must be kept in order. Are you both quite certain of that? The way I see it, a little bit of controlled chaos never hurt anybody. After all, that's the way things work here, isn't it? You never know when the next customer will show up or what they're going to order, and there are so many options. You can't prepare very much ahead of time--you simply adjust to the maelstrom this sort of business can sometimes be. In fact, is it not the presence of chaos that allows us to fully appreciate order? Is it not chaos, too, that leads to freedom? If you live your life following a strict set of rules simply because you're required to do so, there's no honor in that. It's when you make a conscious, free-will decision in the presence of alternatives that distinguishes your character." She waited a few seconds to let that sink in, but upon glancing over at the barista's hands, she added: "Oh... and don't forget the 'extra Irish'. I want mine so Irish I can see little leprechauns dancing along the rim of the cup, yeh?"

MYTHOS
Mythos could not help it. This girl was very appealing in the way she carried herself. She seemed confident and unafraid of how her confidence would affect the people around her. This confirmed Mythos's notion that this girl may be worthy enough to be friends with him. Mythos even got to thinking that maybe even Mastermind would like this girl, though he had to get that thought out of his head immediately. NEVER THINK FOR THE MASTERMIND! That was one of the Mastermind's number one rules.
Mythos paid no more attention to the boy and focused entirely on the girl in front of him. "Your views on life intrigue me. After we both aquire whatever it is we ordered it would be my pleasure to have you show me around the town... ah... what is your name fair madam?" Mythos gave a light bow to her as he said this. He was trying to impress. As the Mastermind had said before, "In order to get into another's good graces, you must show them what you think they want to see."

Anthony's jaw could've broken with the tension he was carrying because of these two. "Of course ma'am, the customer is always right afterall." He turned away from the two of them and adressed an issue that the man had pointed out: Where were his subordinates? He fetched a danish for the man and quickly set to steeping the tea before leaving to the manager's office. After making a few phone calls he found out that Beth was indeed supposed to work today and would be in shortly.
As he sat at the phone he pulled the detective's card out and dialed the number on the card but then hung up the phone and walked back out into the cafe. He finished steeping the tea and poured it into a mug and took it to the women and smiled, "Irish breakfast tea extra Irish." He couldn't wait til his shift was over. He rolled his shoulders and grimaced in agony.

"Ah, is that so?" she marveled aloud. "You seem to be quite the... chivalrous... man," she added, a little bit of venom hidden in her words. She knew she had to downplay her usual style, but he seemed to be underestimating her, and that bothered her. "I'll have you know I'm no 'fair madam'. I'm not very 'fair', and I'm not ambitious enough to start my own brothel. I don't know where you've been raised, but it sounds like you ain't too city yet. Don't worry, we'll get you broken in soon enough." She took a sip of her tea but found it a bit lacking. Without even thinking, she whipped out a silver flask and added a little of the fluid inside to her drink. "They never make it Irish enough for me. Now, what're you lookin' for in these parts?"

MYTHOS
Mythos nodded at the girl for a moment. He had underestimated her. She wasn't the usual type of girl that the Mastermind had talked about: flirtatious, revealing, desperate. Mythos sensed spunk in this girl's attitude and the more she talked, the more comfortable with his new friend he became. "I apologize if I offended you my friend. No harm was intended." Mythos said coolly, his face still showing no signs of emotion.
He took the pastry that had been sitting on the counter for him and reached into his pocket, leaving the exact amount of money on the counter. Mastermind had been very generous with all of the stolen money he had acquired over the years. Mythos had more than enough. Without even taking a bite out of the pastry he threw it into the garbage. "But how about starting with the 'hot spots' in Delmor if you will. I am most interested where everyone or where you and your friends hang out..."

"The hot spots, eh?" Mariana was curious about this statement. It could be perfectly innocent, but for a moment she could have sworn she heard some sort of agenda in those words. Is he scoping the city out? she thought, Well, even if he was, it could only lead to more fun later on down the road. "There ain't that much heat in a podunk little town like this. Ya gotta create your own heat sometimes. But, yeh, there's enough to get your hands warm if ye know where to look. I don't know you, so I don't know if you can handle it without burnin' yourself. Don't worry, though: mama's gonna ease ya into the fire, nice an' slow. Now, wisdom says wet won't burn as fast as dry, so make sure ya get yourself nice an' moist on the way. Ain't half as fun if ye don't." With that, she tossed her liquor flask to the boy and grinned. "By the way, I don't believe I've gotten your name."

MYTHOS
Mythos laughed in his own mind. This girl seemed very full of herself and was bursting with overconfidence for in fact Mythos had given his name to the girl a while ago even though it was a fake one; Daniel. But nevertheless, he had some sort of feeling of liking towards her. She was pretty... well... cool, something Mythos never really felt before. This girl was starting to become his friend and not only was this the Mastermind's plan, but it was also making Mythos feel... great.
Mythos let out a monotone chuckle and decided not to tell this girl that he had already given his name to her. He didn't think this was necessary for after all, she was going to end up showing him around, something that Mythos knew would help him in the long run. "My name is Daniel. And you are?" Mythos asked for actually, the girl had never told Mythos her name.

Anthony turned his back to the two of them and pretended to be cleaning cups and plates while he listened in on their conversation. He knew it was rude but he simply couldn't afford to be naive in this situation. Knowledge was power afterall and should this man turn out to be a potential ally or threat in the future he wanted as much intel as he could gather. He heard the change on the counter and turned to put it in the cash register. He dared not look up at the two of them but instead casually seperated the bills from the coins and tallied the number before shutting the drawer and returning to his dishes.
The man wanted to know about hotspots in Delmor. Anthony's first instinct went to the night he was nearly killed in that apartment fire just before prom. Could this man have had a hand in that? He'd have to go back to the crime scene to get a look. It wasn't going to be a quiet night, he could feel it.
