PREVIOUS ANNOUNCEMENTS

20 November 2005

Another longish chapter. It's much more focused than many of the previous chapters, with extended sections dealing with only a few viewpoints rather than lots of short sections with many viewpoints. It's harder to write in some ways, but it can be more rewarding as well. Blame George R.R. Martin if you don't like it. I don't know how long I'll use this style, but there it is.

I'm very much looking forward to the comments and speculation on this one, so please don't hold back.

===============================

18 November 2005

A new chapter, somewhat longer than usual, to make up for missing a week or more.

But don't expect me to be any quicker with the next one. I'm feeling rather uninspired with this story. I don't want to drop it because I might not pick it up again, but the characters just aren't flowing like they did originally. I'm trying to blame it on my recent illness and on the heavier-than-normal workflow here at the office, but just in case it's something more, please be patient with me.

===============================

10 November 2005

Sorry for the delays this week. I'm still ill, and it seems that work is a lot busier than I had counted on. So chapters will be few and far between.

It also seems that I don't have remotely enough room in this thread to finish the story. I'm not exactly sure what to do at this point, but it's something I need to address really damned quickly.

===============================

06 November 2005

This is easily the weakest chapter I've written for this saga, despite the number of interesting things going on. I blame it on my long absence, and hope that I can get back into the swing of things next week.

===============================

28 October 2005

I should probably note a few things at this point:
* The dates should all be accurate at the very least. I don't pick them at random. At least not usually.
* All of the last names have a meaning. Some obvious (Alex Roth), some subtle (Fred Yates) - but all have meaning.
* All of the chapter titles have meaning. Again, some obvious, some subtle.
* Historical characters and real locations are scattered throughout the chapters, complete with as accurate descriptions as I can manage.

Cookies to those who can find them (and derive meaning from them).

The comments and criticisms I've been getting over the past few weeks have been a tremendous help. Please, keep them up. I need your thoughts. I also love reading the speculations, as it helps me to know where I've dropped enough hints and where I haven't.

Thank you all.

===============================

27 October 2005

Another chapter, another day.

===============================

26 October 2005

A new chapter to start off the week. Hope you all enjoy it.
Thank you all for the great comments and speculation.
It helps to know how much I'm getting across and where I need to work on my writing still. Please, keep up the good work.

===============================

23 October 2005

No action. Just little character vignettes to end the weekend with.
Hey, at least I didn't leave you with another cliff-hanger, right?

Please give as much detail as you can in your comments, especially about things that are unclear or that may need to be addressed. Obviously there will be mysteries, but I'm still curious as to whether or not I'm getting certain concepts across without stating them explicitly.

===============================

22 October 2005

I hope you all enjoy reading this chapter as much as I enjoyed writing it.
Let me know what you all think.

===============================

21 October 2005

An extra-long chapter to make up for the lack of one yesterday.
I really need some feedback on these next few chapters, as I'm progressing the plot and I don't want to make things too confusing. I'm also experimenting with different types of descriptions, tense-changes and viewpoint-shifts, so bear with me and let me know what you think.

===============================

19 October 2005

A new chapter to start out the week.
There may not be a chapter tommorow.

===============================

16 October 2005

Last chapter of the weekend. I hope you all enjoy it.
All current profiles now have artwork, thanks to my lovely wife Ruevian.
Comments are, as always, welcomed and greatly desired.

===============================

15 October 2005

Okay, I do have a new chapter, albeit a short one. It did not make it to the pre-readers, as I'm posting it late today due to work issues, however, I do want to make sure it is typo-free. Therefore, if you see any typos or other errors, please PM me with them. Don't post them in the thread, as I would rather reserve that for discussion of the plot, characters and story itself.

===============================

13 October 2005

Another new chapter. Please, give me some in-depth commentary.
I'm trying to work some of the kinks out of this style, so commentary is vital.

===============================

12 October 2005

First new chapter of the week, along with plenty of brand-new profiles.

===============================

09 October 2005

Well, that should be all for the weekend. I hope it was worth the wait.
And I look forward to seeining you all back here on Wednesday morning for the next chapter.

===============================

08 October 2005

Chapter Eleven should have been named Moral Bankruptcy, but the pun was too much to bear, so I went with the (still pun-ishing) current title. I just thought you all should know.

===============================

07 October 2005

Only one chapter today, though it's just a tad longer than usual.
Sorry for the delay, but a bug in the new guild system prevented me from editing old posts. Thanks go to Romuel for moving me to Crew status so I can edit them anyway. If it weren't for her, we wouldn't have a new chapter yet.

===============================

06 October 2005

Still more writing. I appreciate the longer comments people have been leaving. It helps me to know what people like and don't like about the stories, and gives me a clue as to what people find confusing or mysterious about the characters.

===============================

05 October 2005

Super-extra-long chapter six for everyone to enjoy.
Be sure to comment on the abilities and descriptions - I'd like to know what everyone thinks.

===============================

02 October 2005

New chapters for everyone to enjoy. I'm really going to have to stop writing multiple chapters at a sitting.

I really want everyone to read and respond, especially when new chapters are released. I'm having a hard time determining if anyone is actually reading these or not because I'm getting sporadic comments, but mostly outside of this thread.

So if you're reading this, please let me know whether you're enjoying it or not.
If you want to compare it to one of my other writing projects, feel free. I just want to know what each and every reader thinks of this because it gives me a feel for whether or not what I'm writing is entertaining or not.

===============================

01 October 2005

A new month, a new story. Hopefully everyone will enjoy this one as much as the last one. It will be a little more complicated, and it will have a lot more 'original' characters than the first, as there are certain roles that are better played out by such a character. Still, there should be plenty of room for Modists, though there will probably not be as many major characters as in the last one.

I hope you all enjoy it.

First, awesome formatting. The first page is a wonder to behold.

Second, poor Mr. Harris. I love Kyraa's introduction.

I just have to say that Rowan's superpower is one of the best ideas I've seen in a while. Very unique, though I can't quite escape the mental image of an oversized, slow-moving, clinky porcelain Rowan figurine, even though you did say flexible. whee

Fantastic, I have no idea how you can keep turning out these high quality stories... heart

Just so I understand, the characters are going to be trained to be government assassins, yes?

I was picturing something like Iceman from the 90's. Where ol' Icy's body was solid, rigid, and clearly one whole piece, but didn't seem to impair his movement in any such fashion. 3nodding

That was so good! heart

I love both the superpowers so far... especially Rowan's. I agree, it's a great idea.

Poor Jillian though, it looks like her friend is freaked out by her power... gonk

Enjoying this quite a bit so far. A more introspective, detailed style of writing. I think the beginning is working better than the last story, as the character introduction is a bit slower. Abrupt, yet sinuous. Liking very much!

I've never known much about comics, but this is very much similar to X-men, right? I actually like your descriptive writing style better in this story than the last one. And your dialogue is great, as always.
