Sasuke wasn't stupid. He was anything but. Knowing that this was a fighting he couldn't win, he watched as his prize sunk to the floor and he smirked, bonds that he had wanted to severe had been severed indeed leaving in their place a new bond.
A bond of fear that Sasuke would use later on, but not yet. He had training to do. Yes, soon, soon Itachi would die, Akatsuki would mean nothing and he Sasuke would have what he desired most, his revenge completed, and Uzumaki Naruto the only one ever to reach his level as a ninja under his full control; mind, soul... and body.
And with those few thoughts in mind, Sasuke smirked as he saw Itachi ready to fight, was he really the same foolish otouto? It didn't matter to Sasuke anymore. With a click of his fingers team Hebi had disappeared leaving Naruto and Itachi alone.
The sound of clones leaving into the air soon followed by the loudened sobs of Naruto, who was literally shaking, unable to tell friend from foe, the only thing in his mind that made it through the wall of fear was that Sasuke nearly raped him and Itachi saved him.
He was indebted to his enemy. How strange. Not that that stopped the tear flow, if anything it increased it.

Itachi blinked at the sudden absence of Sasuke but he shook it off; thre were more pressing matters to attend to. Naruto was in an unstable state of mind right now and if Itachi wasn't careful then the power of the Kyuubi could be unleashed.
"Are you hurt anywhere Naruto-kun?" Itachi spoke delicately, almost as if Naruto was a doll. When he didn't recieve a reply, he moved over to the blond and held up a palm.
Blue eyes focused on the hand and Itachi moved his hand a little closer. He remembered a time when an Inuzuka in his class had shown them all how to approach a wild animal; slowly and calmly.
"I won't hurt you, Naruto-kun, trust me."
Itachi gathered chakra to his hand and it emitted a soft warmth. The palm hovered near Naruto's own hand and the Uchiha waited; Naruto had to make the first move.

Warmth, so nice, so comfortable. Yes he was scared, he knew who that warmth belonged to, but he couldn't help, but feel somewhat...dare he feel it... safe.
In his hazy mind it replayed mixed images of what he had seen and he felt his hands tremble, he half hoped Itachi would hold onto him, he fear Kyuubi's escape, he heard Itachi's voice,
"Are you hurt anywhere Naruto-kun?"... it was so nice, so soft. Naruto found himself clinging onto that tone of voice, knowing it would keep Kyuubi away, he could feel the beast attempting to escaoe, and in his confusement at what to do... Naruto lunged at Itachi and muttered weakly,
"Kill me, Kill this beast inside of me"

Itachi took a step back and retracted his palm. Was Naruto really asking for him to do what he thought?
Naruto shuffled and, in a reflex reaction, Itachi's sharingan activated and found himself in front of the fox's cage. Naruto sat in the water, half covered by it, a little way away from the gate.
Itachi looked at Naruto and he had to admit that he had never seennyone so defenceless.
There was a choice to be made; he could either take Naruto to the Akatsuki and allow them the Kyuubi. That would end in Naruto being killed and they most likely wouldn't arrive before the fox took advantage of the seal. The other option was for Itachi to do it him self, surpress the Kyuubi enough so Naruto could regain his mentality.
Itachi closed his eyes and ignored the chuckling of the Kyuubi; he had to do this for Naruto's sake. He opened his eyes and the Sharingan glowed... Madara had tought him how to overpower a Bijuu and had warned that it would be painful, the Uchiha was just about to find out how much so.

Naruto was very much confused, what ever was happening he didn't know. one moment he was crying to die at Itachi's hands, the next he had been thrust inwards into the mind that was his own.
Kyuubi stood, like his normal huge self, a beacon of despair and destruction, his red eyes flickered over the mentality unstable state of his container and knew this was one of his few rare chances to take over and rain destruction, but then again, he was there. The one that could stop it all and hold him back... control him if you will,
Uchiha Itachi, and said Uchiha was staring right at it, damn.

Itachi forced his eyes to look towards the seal at the centre. Around the paper, chains formed and intwined with the bars. Itachi felt blood trickle from his right eye as he strained to control the placement of the chains yet paid little notice.
Once the chains were in place, Itachi closed his bleeding eye and directed the Sharingan towards the water at the fox's feet. He ignored the bark that the Kyuubi let out and channelled chakra through the water. The water crackled into ice and locked the fox's paws into place.
Itachi didn't bother to wipe the blood rom his left eye either, his mind was too focused on the burning pain behind his skull. He dropped to a crouch, one hand restig on the water and didn't even stop his body from sinking into the liquid.
He had managed to supress the Kyuubi and that was all that mattered, for now.

A calm had fallen over Naruto, the haze in his mind that was once Kyuubi using images to force Naruto to recede far into his mind had gone, and with them was Kyuubi, stuck by Itachi's fault... once again Itachi had saved him, it was too confusing.
Glancing at the other sinking, his immediate reason was to force Itachi from his mind. Within seconds of doing so, Naruto moved in the outside world just inches away from Itachi.
Yes, to Konoha this would have been his chance to kill the older man, but Naruto couldn't do that, all his life he had been one to trust and give second chances to, and he wasn't about to stop here.
Thinking back Sakura had taught him something minimal in healing, but with his energy so low he'd probably faint... but Itachi was in pain and it was his fault, and with that his resolve strengthened.
Hovering his hands over Itachi's bleeding eyes, he forced his flowing blue Chakra into the others system and just hoped Itachi accepted it because if Naruto fell and Sasuke returned, well... neither fox nor weasel would be safe.
Feeling the last of his extra Chakra leave, he lay next to Itachi panting, his eyes struggling to stay open,
"Thank you Itachi, thank you for being the Saviour i never had,"

Itachi felt the change in his body as it returned to the normal world yet he didn't care. All of his thoughts were jumbled and, if he had attempted speech, he knew he would say things that were in a language no one would able to decipher.
Warmth flowed into his eyes and the pain finally vanished, leaving Itachi feeling cool headed yet still exhausted. He knew that he should be worried for his life but there was no energy to move, and he really didn't know why he should be on alert.
The voice of an angel crept into his thoughts as the light in front of his eyelinds finally vanished. He had no strength left, not even enough to twitch a muscle but it didn't make any difference; Itachi felt the warmth of another human beside him and the world crumbled into two beings.

Finally sense crawled back into Naruto's mind. Who knew how long had passed, all he knew was that he had falling asleep practically on Uchiha Itachi. The horror.
Sure, Sasuke had tired to have his way and Itachi had saved him, but one couldn't trust that, which would reveal their true selves. Jumping up he winced in slightly pain and staggered sideways. Apparently him healing Itachi wasn't the most sensible thing he had ever done.
He had used up alot of Chakra and it was taking it's toll on his body alot. Breathing in deeply, he didn't care check if Itachi was up or anything, he just wanted, no needed to get away.
He was still scared. As he limped away, his legs gave way and he slumped to the floor with a groan. Something in his body wasn't allowing him to stray from the older Uchiha and he didn't understand what that was.

Itachi's chest twitched painfull as the heat of the body next to him left. He cracked one eye open with difficulty; the blood that had coated his eyelashes had crusted and flaked off painfully.
Black eyes watched as the blond - Naruto, his mind supplied - appeared to bew having an internal argument and then slumped to the floor. Naruto's face was half facing him and h could see the dark shadows under the usually bright eyes.
"If it's chakra exhaustion then just rest. I won't hurt you... I'll even let you go when you've recovered."
Itachi ignored the pain in his chest as he finished and closed his eyes tightly; did he really not want Naruto to go?

Naruto inwardly thought of taking Itachi up on his offer, but that didn't mean he was going to take it. Even if Itachi did nothing what was to stop Sasuke's return. After everything that had happened he'd rather faint a couple miles away where he was alot safer.
But then again, with Itachi, he did feel safe it was a weird kind of safe, but it was that feeling all the same. Feeling his eyes droop he let rest and some form of relaxation take it into the land of dreams... and possibly nightmares.
As he slept, his mind supplied him with questions that needed answering; did he trust Itachi?... what was trust anyway?

Itachi hadn't known if Naruto would stay and, when the Uzumaki fell asleep where he had fallen, Itachi was somewhat startled. Did Naruto trust him... no, fell that safe around him?
The pain in his chest ebbed away and, had he the energy, Itachi would've risen a hand to bid it farewell. It was the sort of pain that was worth the endurance if it could get the result it wanted in the end - in this case, getting Naruto to stay.
Itachi fell into a slumber, not really caring about any consequences. His dreams were littere with blond hair, blue eyes and a haunting melody that his mother used to sing to him before bed. He had never thought of that before, or the calming emotions the song had brought on - an escape from the raging war outside - yet his inner mind guessed it would have something to do with Naruto

In his sleeping state Naruto couldn't control his body's natural need to fidget during sleep and he curled into Itachi. Itachi's arm moved slightly to accommodate the new pressure on it.
Neither of the slumbering pair realized that the newly constructed team 7, being Yamato, Sai, Sakura and Neji temporarily coming in closer and closer.
Meanwhile Sasuke sat with a scowl after Suigetsu's report about what had been left at the scene. Naruto asleep in Itachi's arms... if the Konoha group wasn't to arrive at the sleeping pairs' place soon (As reported by Karin) he would have returned, but the fight between him and his brother had taking quite a bit out of him.

Itachi had never been a heavy sleeper and this had reflecte throughout his missions profile, both in Konoha and in the Akatsuki. He prided himself on the fact that no one had ever been able to sneak up on Itachi yet this was about to be smashed.
"We found a cloak!"
Instantly Itachi sat bolt upright and cursed. He opened his eyes and ignored the pain that this action brought on.
"I can see two figures... One is definately Naruto but the other..."
Itachi realised that someone with Byakugan was in the group and the curses doubled. If he left Naruto here then he would most likely be discovered, or at least what he had done. This would arise questions that would inevitably lead to the revelation Itachi didn't want.
Gritting his jaw, Itachi dug deeper into his chakra reserve and estimated they had just about enough for a short transportation. He just hoped that the chakra wouldn't cut out halfway - or that he'd pass out directly after.

Sakura was pressing Neji with questions about what was going on and whether Naruto was alright, while clinging to Sai's arm in worry, as Sai winced and bit his bottom lip to save himself crying out.
Honestly Sakura needed to learn self restraint a tad bit more. When she heard Neji mention about someone else being there, Sai was sure his arm was close to breaking point. Yamato was currently building a wall out defense around the area, fearing the second to be Sasuke.
