You know what? The description for the coffee was really funny but, I don't like coffee myself, he-he. mrgreen
You know, I can't remember if the food had descriptions on SotN or if they began to have them afterwards... neutral

I think the food descriptions came about in SOTN and afterwards. I can't remember any games that had them before SOTN, but maybe the Gameboy/color games had food descriptions confused

Nah! There were no usable food items in any CV prior to SotN. Sure, there was the occasional pork chop hidden in the wall but, since you had to use it on the spot, well... That was the thing about classic CV games, you couldn't carry the pork chop so there was no need for a description. The only classic CV where you actually had a menu, didn't allow you to save any food items either and, there were no descriptions for the items you had there either (I'm talking about Simon's Quest here).
Edit: Here are my favorite food descriptions (finally):
From Aria of Sorrow: Potato Pancake: The burnt edges are the best part. Tea: Sip it slowly and relax (this seems to have the exact same description in DoS & PoR).
From Dawn of Sorrow: Pancake: It's nothing without maple syrup (same description in PoR). Tinned Spinach: May give the illusion of bulking up muscle mass (same in PoR). Paella: A veritable cornucopia of seafood (in PoR, they add: "Spanish style").
From Portrait of Ruin: Hamburger: A greasy little burger. Hot Dog: Delicious! Just don't ask what's in it. Sachertorte: A rich Viennese chocolate cake fit for a count.
That's it for me! I wish I had more but I can't play SotN whenever I want. rolleyes

Lets see, I think I have two other interesting food descriptions. It seems that actually getting food items is rare on Curse of Darkness but it must be because the drop rate also has to take special ores and materials into consideration. confused
Here are two food descriptions that I found amusing.
Hamburger: A meat patty squashed inside a bun to make it easier to eat. This one has a lot of tasty pickles.
Lollipop: A large circle of candy on a stick for licking. Can you withhold the deisre to just crunch it?

I hate not being able to play CoD again! I couldn't even remember those funny descriptions. Isn't that just awful? At least i got all the drop items in that game. What I couldn't get were all the "steal" items. Some are impossible to get! Anyways, great job RB! 3nodding

Pancakes all the way, that item put me in the mood for pancakes. Oh! and the rotten food was awesome in Aria/Dawn of Sorrow! Soma could eat it once he had the Ghoul soul.
Ghoul: Enjoys eating the strangest things...
Rusty food tin ~ are you brave enough to open it? lol Spoiled Milk ~ Its expiry date was three years ago... xd

Now that you brought that up Soma-kun, don't you wonder why they made the same kind of items on PoR if you have no way to eat them safely? I thought that was very strange and I figured that maybe there was some kind of equipment that allowed you to eat those items. I tried the rare items the ghouls and ghoul king dropped but that didn't work. I wonder what the heck were they thinking with that... rolleyes Doesn't anyone else (who has played PoR, of course) wonder about that? neutral

Either that or it was just easier to tranfer the item/drop/inventory mechanics onto another game, like using a template so the game could be made sooner. I'm not really knowledgable about game programming but that seemed like a likely reason. neutral

Hmm, I never thought about that possibility but it sure sounds plausible. I wonder if either of those were the real reasons. I also wonder if one of the equipable items can enable the characters to be healed by those awful items. Like, since there are so many kinds of them, who has tried to put every single one of them on and try to eat a poisonous mushroom for example? I think that would be a very hard and grueling task, don't you think?

Hey Luxlui! I also hope they create new foods and not get stuck with the same old same. Sur,e some can't be left out of CV like the pork chop but, if they do have food items, they better make some good ones. They might want to bring back the meal ticket, that was a fun item! Who agrees with me? mrgreen
Too bad nobody has commented on my post above... I guess it's cuz nobody has tried what I said, huh? sweatdrop
