Sora ignored her. The shadow dived for him. At the last second, he sidestepped and slashed it.

Lyu cried out. "No! Don't fight it!" She picked herself up and lunged towrds Sora, knocking him down. She looked up as the shadow split in two, both now turning to dive aain at them. "You'll make it stronger!"

Sora shook her off. Then he got up, and took off his golden collar. He held it so it reflected the moonlight, creating a warm glow.

Lyu sat on the ground, staring up at Sora. She was some what put off at his ignoring her warnings, but she was sure he would get what he deserved. Startled by the glow, she started to back away.

The glow started getting bigger as the full moon started rising higher and higher. The glow expanded and hit the shadows, who screeched and fled. As soon as the were gone Sora snapped the gold collar around his neck again.

Glaring at Sora, Lyu got up hurriedly and dusted herself off. Turning, she strode off into the woods, eyes on the sky.

Sora shuddered inwardly. He fingered the ingravings on his thin golden collar, then strode off towards his house. he bent and picked up his sword, but didn't bother to sheath it on his way home.

Lyu kept walking, her mind racing. She was extremely curious, even more so than before, and she was having a hard time keeping from following Sora again. She needed to know how he had beaten the shadows.

Sora walked inside his house, taking off his cloak and gloves. He stomped up the stairs and took off his mask, which revealed tired green eyes, setting it on the beside table. He put his sword, sheathed away, under the bed and checked to see his short sword was under his pillow. He then laid down to fall asleep.

Lyu laid down under a willow tree to think. The shadows had been following her for years, and she'd never been able to fight them. Now this stranger, one of the only people who had been able to get away without leaving their gold in her possesion, had dispersed them without effort. She sat up as she realized that she was, for awhile, no longer on the run. Sora had angered the shadows, no doubt, and they would follow him until they tired of him.

Sora woke with a start to find the shadows creeping towards him. They hissed. Sora swore. Then he grabbed his sword from under his bed quickly, and held his palm out. A fireball appeared above it, floating. They hissed again as the fireball illuminated the room and Sora's tired and worn features. He set down his sword and took off his collar. In the light of the fireball it could be see why he wore the collar. He used the collar to reflect the fireball's light, and this time directed it at a single shadow instead of making an aura. It exploded in a cloud of shadows, which got sucked itno the first one, which fled again. "Dammit." he muttered, then laid down to sleep again.

Holding onto a knot in the tree, Lyu started to climb. She could see a building in the distance when she reached the top, and noticed a strange light glow and then go out. She leaned against a branch and thought about her day.

Sora's first thought when he woke up were about his mother. Then he thought about yesterday's events. "At least they won't come back until night." he muttered. Sora slipped on his mask and slung his sword onto his belt. He went downstairs and put on his cloak and gloves, then went out to find...... well, he didn't know exactly what he was looking for. He headed for the library.

Lyu awoke with a start as she fell out of the tree. She'd fallen asleep up in the branches. She landed on the ground with a thud. Slowly she got up and reached into her pouch for a piece of dried bacon.

Sora sat at the table, his book in front of him. "Crap." he siad. He didn't like what the book was telling him about those shadows. They apparently took no shape and were created from the fears of a person. This person would think about something they hated or feared, and eventually it would manifest into the shadow. They apparently had the powers of what the person feared. "Crap." Sora muttered. "At least I know they are afraid of the light."
