When are you gonna get back? We can start the original as soon as you do.
Can you afford the prizes coming out of your pocket? Would that be a problem at all, be it in the long run or whatnot?
And, for the poem contest I'm thinking it should be either bi-weekly or monthly (something small), with rotating the types of poems judged, i.e. this month we do free verse and rhymed, next month we can do haiku and blank verse, or something like that. That's also going on to say that we'll be doing two kinds at a time, until we reach a point (which, hopefully it does) that two becomes too much, in which case we switch to one. Sound okay to you?

For the fan fiction one, yes, I can. I have like almost 260k in pure gold so I'd like to think so. This fan fiction is a one time deal anyways. If we're going to be holding it on a regular basis, then I'll have to either charge people, ask for donations, or lower the prizes. Sure, I can afford it for awhile, but I'm not online enough to be giving away prizes every month.
For the originals, we'll try one and see how much the participation is before deciding to continue it or not.
I'll be back next week.
Monthly until there's enough people interested in it. Well, XD it's up to you cause I'm not running it. Not to mention, I have no idea when it comes to poetry. Yeah...

Then June should be the glorious month when we can set these two new contests into motion (unless you object to starting off the original fiction contest at this time?)
I'll just rape the rules and stuff from the other threads lying around, for the sake of consistency and all that =D

Not really. I don't mind that so long as I don't have to judge them in August or at least first two weeks of that month. I'm not sure how many people will enter their work in mai contest.
Oh noes... I shall protect their virtues. *strikes a pose before dashing off*

Woooo, it's finally up! My poetry contest lives ^^
Ch-ch-ch-check it out!
Out of curiosity, how many people entered the fanfic contest thus far?

D=
Not even a few persons saying that they'll come up with something to enter?
We need to find a way to bring people back in here. Maybe pretty up the homepage a bit?
And, as a little question on the side, how many of the mods besides you are actually still active in here? o.o

That we do. It's free so I don't see why they'd be hesitating. Of course, the selection of stuff is limited to what I know so yeah.
Probably.
Out of four of us? Two. Song of Fire and me.

I see the problem being that there aren't nearly enough people regularly coming here to care. I've posted links in my signature to both of our contests (you may have noticed), hopefully that helps out some.
Edit: And, are you capable of just taking the moderator status away from the other two inactive mods? Because I know for a fact that Placebo won't be coming back; I, however, don't know about the other one.

True. We don't really have much of an incentive for them to be coming back here. I'm not on here as much as I used to be job and all, but I do make time on the weekends.
Yush. I am ze captain. I can demote or even ban them if I so desire, but eh...

Well you should go ahead and do that -- the demotion thing, that is. Though, on another note, I talked to Placebo about what's going on in here the other day, and she did give a few good ideas about what we can do. While you said the prizes are coming out of your pocket, she did propose a great idea about teaming up with an artists guild and offering avi art as prizes; and, in return, they can offer little stories about the characters of whoever wins their contests, written by anyone in here who's willing to do it. It's a great way to lessen pressure on your own pocket, and still promote our own guid (while helping our sibling artist guild with promoting theirs).
It also helps with the fact that I have no idea what I'm offering as prizes in my own competition anyway XD

I can help as far as prizes are concerned. I'm not saving up for a dream avvie or anything, so I'd be happy to donate to either content.

That's a cool idea about the artist guild. Don't worry I have like over 200k in gold so that should be no problem for now.
As for needing help, I believe we'll need more on judging and setting up contests. Kaarii, are you willing to help with that?
