“I got lost a little while ago and he helped me out,” Alexis smiled again. “He owes me a fish dinner at some point, too. Have you had the honor? I don’t know how he would take the idea of a shirt with his likeness on it.” Regardless, it was still a very amusing thought.
She licked the mango popsicle and her eyes wandered back to the other objects on the table. Maybe Eclipse would like a pretty fan to look at? It wasn’t as if he could play with anything she bought him anyways. “Do you have anything forest related?”

"Once, I stopped on a beach with a bonfire and he investigated my presence, I don't think he much liked me though." She shrugged and smiled digging around...white screenprint on black yes.. a classic color choice.
"Lemme check.. I think I've got some fern clippings on the dash. And a spiderplant trying to take over the RV." She ducked inside to find and make some cuttings from the abusive space-devouring plant, sticking them into sand-filled former coffee cups and taking them back out. "What kind of pet do you have? a fish?"

Alexis laughed, “I don’t think he likes anyone very much, but deep down he means well.”
“Yes, he’s sort of like a betta,” she said, placing a carving back onto the table. “He’s pink and blue, but quite a bit bigger than normal.” Something about Newton told Alexis she could trust her. Maybe it was the Hawaiian shirt or the ukulele music, but Alexis felt more at ease than she had in weeks.
“I think, um,” Alexis hesitated, lowered her voice, and leaned in towards Newton. “I think that he might be one of the Cambrian creatures.” It felt good to get that off her chest. She hadn’t told a single human her secret, and hopefully she wouldn’t regret it.

Newton raised an eyebrow and winked, she understood. As it stoo with her...no one knew about Cassiopeiia yet, not even her special friends who keep her supplied with prank material.
"Sort of like a betta... I've got a pair of them they keep Cassi company."
She cocked her head and smiled sagely, well then... "T-shirt for you half-price... would you like to see Cassi?"
If Cassi was one of the cambrians... a little social interaction early on would be very good for her little ultrabooger.

Alexis caught the wink and felt as if her suspicions about Cassi were confirmed. The reason this woman stood out was that she was in the possession of a Cambrian child of her own. There was something special about them, something that Bolide could sense.
“Oh, yes please,” Alexis was thrilled that she had the chance to meet another creature like Eclipse. Please let it be another Cambrian fish and not a plain current Earth variety. She tried not to get her hopes up, but she didn’t want to be alone in this anymore.

"Wonderful," Newton packed up the t-shirts into a brown paper bag and opened the door to her RV again, holding it open for Alexis like a friend come to visit. Another cambrian child-raiser...
What world of wonder she was getting to live in these days...
The inside of the RV looked like a gypsy had exploded india pop in there, with bits of american pop culture dangling from the ceiling. The floor was surprisingly neat for all of the crazyperson clutter, and where there might have been a microwave there was a large fish tank filled with cheap happy meal toys and floaties, where a little... blue and orange frilly bug was attacking or devouring the bits of mango popsicle floating at the top of it's tank.
