Anyone have any fixes/advice for satellite internet? It keeps dropping all my page downloads without resuming them I guess because the connection is sketchy.
Oh yeah, to make it worse, I'm on the piece of Hell that is Vista.

It'll work. You just need to connect the modem either to your computer via an ethernet cable, or to a wireless router (provided your laptop has a wireless network card).
...what? Ask a silly question, get an obvious answer.
