Chloe smiled a little more. There always seemed to be that song that somebody's mother played to them to make them sleep. "Do you miss your parents?"

Lute nodded some, sighing. "I... kind of lost touch with my mother after the accident. My dad still communicates with me, but I haven't talked to my mom in a long time..." he said, feeling lonely since his mother was brought up.

Chloe nodded sympathetically and put her hand on Lute's. "I'm sorry," she said softly, looking up at her new friend.

Lute nodded some and gently grasped Chloe's hand. "I wish I could talk with her. It's been so long. I've forgotten what she looks like. And what her voice sounds like." he said with a heavy sigh.

Chloe was a little surprised and she tilted her head. "How long ago did you leave home?"

"A year or two after the accident. My dad moved me in with my grandparents. Then when they died, I came here." he said, still grasping onto Chloe's hand. It was rather comforting to hold her hand. This was a difficult subject to talk about.

Chloe squeezed Lute's hand and reached out, plucking a string on the harp and looking up at Lute's saddened expression. "Well, once you get to know everyone here, it's like a huge messed up family," she offered. She'd never known anything outside of her family, since she lived with so many generations of them.

Lut looked to the string then to CHloe when she spoke. He nodded some and smiled a little. "Hopefully I can join that family. I doubt I have one of my own anymore."

"You're already one of us; you came here. There's no turning back now," Chloe said, adding an evil cackle to the end of her sentence for creepy effect.

"Sorry... It runs in the family," she apologized, plucking another string at random.

Lute looked back at the sound of the string being plucked. It was hard to concentrate since there were many sounds around him and he was unsure of his surroundings still. And he was starting to hear students down the hall.

Lute jumped a little, brought out of his thoughts by her voice. He shook his head some, smiling a little. "I'm just not used to all the sounds here. And people are coming." he said.

Chloe tilted her head a little. Lifting her arm, she waved her hand, casting a spell that blocked noise out from the practice room they were sitting in at the moment. "Any better?"
