She flicked Onyx in the ear, much like when she flicked Malik in the nose on occassion. "Don't antagonize your brother. He's just a little more introverted than you." But of course a soft chuckle at Onyx all the same. He was taking ad much of this petting and scratching that he could get, wasn't he?

Kieran had taken to copying a few key things, or at least what he noted as key into his own journal now. Hey, best to have an avaliable soure of key facts than have to dig up the journal more. BEsides, teh thing was practically falling apart. "This just keeps getting more and more interesting."

A little taken aback, Roarke blinked. "Didn't know? Dear god no. He didn't just sneak in and take what he wanted. He took it by force. He had an enourmous army. The academy was in it's early days, filled more families than with wizards. Eca was stolen, altohugh how he was able to steal an Oracle I am unsure of. he was alive at the time after all. One can only assume that Eca, while very good at what she did, didn't see everything. Then while Ton was gone searching for Eca, Dimitri moved in. Ton came back to find an empire that was no longer his." He shrugged. "It took a very long time to get his bride, and his home back, I assure you."

"Besides, Dimirti and Ton were only half human."

Moonstone mumbled under his breath. "You can't repress what's not there." He shook his head, spoke up. "No, thank you Piper. I dare say it would only give my brother more material in his incesant teasing." Glare. His tail swung back and forth now in aggrivation.

A little more introverted was an understatement.

Eliot had been concentrating so hard that she hadn't realized her ears where movin back and forth between a human's and a wolf's. She gave her head a shake and let her ears return to the proper form.

"And how long did this Dimitri have power? What did he learn to achieve the state he has now? How did Ton stop him?"
PostPosted: Mon Oct 31, 2005 6:21 pm

"Either way. it was fairly obvious from the first meeting his was after Eca. a Tier'dal would have struck him down right then and there. We do not take even remote threats or innuendos like that lightly. But go on. what other reasons do you have for thinking it is this Dimitri that is the present Lich."

A nod to Kieran, rather liking that the other was writing things down in his own journal.

Onyx purred and flared his wings and scooted himself over and into Piper's lap, on his back just lounging an denjoying being pampered. but his ear did perk up, he coudl hear his brother's mumbling.

"Not every impluse needs to have an emotion to it, brother mine. the need for the hunt has no emotion. only the thrill of the kill, the feeling of blood and felsh under your fang and claw. lust does not need an emotion, just the right touch for a damn fine looking woman. you overthink things too much."

Another flick to Onyx's ear. "Watch your tongue around me..." Yeah, she fled the others because she didn't want to hear that type of talk, and she didn't want to do it again. No, she really didn't want to have to lock herself up to spare her rather inwardly fragile self. Though she did chuckle a little as Onyx moved around to get a better angle at her little idle scratching and petting. Then another look to Moon. "You know...you don't have to think of it as something greater than it is. It's just a little affectionate petting...like if you were playing with someone's hair or clothes. Nothing but friendly harmless affection. And you could learn to get used to it." She would of added in 'and I still have one free hand', but she didn't want to feel she was pressuring or nagging him into anything.

One thing wrong with Kieran's writing though. It was in elvish. He always wrote in elvish...which means if it was any use to Malik it would have to be translated down to common. He couldn't help it...he hated writing in common. And he writing was a little sloppy as well in that form. Much prefered the elegant fowing elvish. Another flip of a page, scanning it then jotting down the important stuffs. Quiet when in scholar mode, wasn't he?

Moonstone glared at his brothed, but sighed at Piper. "You two just...don't understand." His wings slumped, his ears drooped. "There is emotion when your hunting. Excitement, anticipation. I don't feel it when I'm hunting. There is gratification, pride, fulfulment, when you've caught it and are consuming it. I don;t feel those. There is affection when you are with a woman. I do not feel that." He looked at them both, not sure that they understood what he was saying. He sighed, stuck his hands in his pockets, and slowly continued on that walk, the one where he didn't know where he was going. "Nevermind."

"He was in power for while, that's all I can say. Ton didn't date his journal entries. I'm not certain how her learned necromancy, and unfortuantly, those pages that did outline what Ton did to stop his brother have been destoryed."

"My other suspicions lay in the fact that he knew Meilikki is my cousin. And while he could have gotten information through her, when he captured her, I have a strong feeling that he knew this before he captured. If he knew enough about her to capture her, then he probably knew enough about me. My acestorial background is not common knowledge, after all." He coughed into his fist. "I would need to take another trip to the corn fields to find out for certian, of this hooded man's identity."

Eliot was not sure she heard correctly. Did he just say corn feilds? A vision came to her, something she had thought was her mind makign things up, suddenly seemed more real.

"What do you mean corn feilds?"

Her tail suddenly appeared and disapearded several time sbefore she got it under control.
PostPosted: Mon Oct 31, 2005 7:39 pm

"The corn fields is where one of our slaves said they came from. she claimed to be a defect. she had no soul but didn't respond properly I think to what they had in mind. she might prove a bit more useful now. good thing I didn't behead her."

A glance at Kieran.

"Is there anytyhing else you can show us. perhaps allow us privy to things a bit more potent in light of this information. anything that might assist myself in our little joint venture to find out who this guy is?"

Onyx rolled over on his stomach, and watched Moonstone.

"That's your secret, isn't it? that's what is bugging you..you think you more like mom was before she met dad, don't you."

Okay now she was starting to feel bad, because if she hadn't of taken to petting at him, he wouldn't of gotten upset. "You don't feel them because you can't or you won't? That's the first thing." Though she saw where Onyx was coming from. A few times she remembered Rand mentioning how different, how empty she felt before she came to the manor back on the other plane, before she met Cymarron. That was a disheartening thought to think that Moon was feeling like that. But still scartching at Onyx, across the back of his neck and shoulders now perhaps in more comfort to herself than anything.

Kieran glanced back at Malik. Mumbling as he contninued his scanning and writing. "You'll have to get Pip to translate this for you and write it down in common. Mine if probably barely legible at this poitn if I were to try and do it. Besides, it may keep her mind occupied."
PostPosted: Mon Oct 31, 2005 8:03 pm

"The corn feilds. The place where the hooded man grows his slaves."

Roarke gave Malik a bit fo a look. "Bit more potent? I've just given you information that very few people know." He sighed. "Destroy the souless, if you can, before they are given this chance to "repsond," but try and keep the failed one for a while. Perhaps she knows something. Other than that, watch your back. I don't know what the hooded man's next move is."

He rubbed his temple. "But I have told you all I know. And count yourself lucky. I rarely hold anyone in my company for this long." A pause. "Until we find a way to stop this man, you are free to use this library, which will remain untouched by students for the time being. If you think you have need of me, send the Zephyr."

"Think I'm like Mother? I am like Mother." He sighed. Fine. They were already suspicious of him, although he wouldn't tell them flat out. "I can't feel anytihng Piper. I've tried. I've tried more ways than I can count." He cast his eyes down. "You know the Egyptain beliefe that the brain was nothing but a mass of flesh? They believed that everytihng came from the heart?" Ugh, this was painfull to get out. He was going to start blushing and spluttering agian.

"Grown?" Elito didn't like that one bit. It all seemed familiar though. It did not seem foriegn and far fetched. It all seemed logical.

"Roarke, I think I may have come from that corn field..." She was starign high up at one of the books on a shelf, readign the title over and over again but not comprehendign anything.

"I think I'm... an experiment.."

Tarathiel stood outside of the Stonekeep, and pulled another arrow out of his side, "Well, it seems my little assassin knows me too well." Tarathiel had indeed began to go to Malik's after the man made his triumphant little trip, but was cut off by elf who was quite intent on ending Tarathiel's life. The archer certainly knew how to shoot his bow, barely if ever missing a mark. The only thing that kept Tarathiel from complete death was the globe of darkness he conjured over himself to make him a bigger target. It worked, partially.

Another arrow was dropped to the ground, making a total of eight that Tarathiel could reach. Lavi fared much better, he only had two arrows in his hide, where they were traped by the overlaping scales. Those puny arrows did not diminish his hide, nor pierce his flesh, but were caught within the folds of Lavi's armour.

"Well, at least you are safe... Hey, is this my blood?" Tarathiel laughed, as the last arrow he pulled out dripped ripe with his red blood. "Wow, still warm. I guess I truly am alive." He smiled weakly. As he talked to his dragon, he was surprised to find a little lizard-like dog creature attaching itself to his leg. "Oh, hello Tames." The drow said somewhat weakly. He had a bit of magic about himself, but this much damage would take at least a turn to recover. "Lolth bless the magic of rings, for with which I would have never made it this far." Tarathiel laughed at his blessings to lolth. He never truly believed in that divinity.

"Tames, are you the only one out here?" The captain asked his pet kobold.

"Yughp, Kylpp." The little creature responded.

"Indeed." The drow sat down, and pet the little creature on the head. "Good boy, I'll get you a treat later." looking up at his dragon mount, Tarathiel laughed softly, "Good Lavi, could you go get my Warhammer?"

Aella dug through an old trunk up in the study. She grumbled to herself. For some reason, she had been out of sorts the last few days, it seemed as if the whole keep was under the weather. The Oracle was no help, she kept to her self, staring into that damn fire brooding, and of course, no one but Warhammer every bothered with the former slave. Grumpy.

She pulled out a pair of trousers, wrinkled her nose and threw them aside. Whoever they had once belonged to, said person had no taste. It took her some time to gind a paire of tappered pants that suit her liking. SHe slipped them on.

Roarke reached out, patted Eliot's shoulder. "Experiments don't get out to easily, Eliot. I'm sure you were woman born. The natural way." He smiled weakly at her. It was just aobut time to end this meating. If Roarke didn't put himself to bed soon, he was going to fall over from fatigue.

Warren slowly made his way through the pathways in the slave pits, underneath the castle of Deep Water. He had Been doing this sort of thing for weeks, trying to map out the maze like hallways. How any slave had gotten around in this place, he couldn't imagine. He ran his fingers along one wall as he walked, feeling it out. he was fairly certain that he had not been here before.

Soon, he came to a large open room, a large, white marble bloack taking up most of it's space. How odd, there were carvings all along the outside, a design of some kind, but in places it hadn;t been started yet, or was only roughly chisled out. He began a slow walk around the structure.

"It's debatable. shapeshifters can be created both ways. but a magically created one is usually a familiar. and those don't have a great deal of free will."

Malik looked at Roarke, smirked, and shook his head.

"You're exhausted, mage. go lay down before you fall down. besides, I need to be heading back to my own home. I'll interrogate teh defect more, see what I can learn."

Onyx gave his brother a halflidded kind of goofy grin form Piper's touch on his wings and between them, his tail lashing a bit at that, adn coiling some like it was trying to grab someone.

"You don't think you have a heart, do you. or have you managed to find the empty hole and cover it up with your poofy fur?"

Piper's scratching became less virioug to the black fur as it sunk in. Oh...so that's what he meant. Thw whole, conduit thing. Did he really think that. Or more importantly was that how the situation really was? But she didn't question on it because Onyx just had, so it was Moon's choice to give the answer or not. Her choice of whether to keep quiet or tell his mother was there, but she wouldn't do it at all if he expressed that he didn't want his parents to know.

Kieran finished the last few words in his writing and snapped his journal closed, that familiar zip of light going around the edge as he nodded to Roarke as well. "Malik's quite right. We're intruding on time you could use for rest and we have our own business to attend to back at his home. But I do thank you for allowing access to your library, I'm sure we'll make good use of our time."
