Lute sighed and shook his head. "No. I was much too young, and then I went blind. So I don't have the coordination to play anything now. Except maybe a gong." he said with a bit of a laugh.

Chloe couldn't help but laugh along with Lute, but then she tilted her head. "You don't need to be able to see to play. It just takes a bit of practice."

Lute nodded some. He had learned to fight without seeing, even though he wasn't very good at it. "I guess I just never put any effort into learning." he said, thinking about it some.

♭♮♯ Sleeping wonder lies to me, and the lies are sweet. Chloe smiled a little. "Do you want to learn?" she offered, a little excited at the idea of someone else taking interest. Other than her mother, she could never really interest people in music. ♩♪♫♬ Music is sung with simple words, and simple words can save the world. ♯♮♭

Lute thought some more and smiled, nodding. "Sure. Maybe we could start out with something a bit easy. Maybe a harp or something? My mother always used to play the harp for me." the blind said, smiling at the memory of his wonderful mother.

Chloe smiled wider. "Alright. There;s a harp two doors down from here," she said, standing and taking Lute's hand again. She glanced down at Apollo, wondering if the dog was going to stay and sleep or if he was going to follow them.

Lute got up, feeling Chloe take his hand once more. Apollo felt his master moving around and woke up. He yawned some before looking to the two humans.

Chloe led Lute out the door and down the two doors. There was a pretty, wooden harp with golden trimming around it standing in the center, a perfectly sized stool beside it for the player. Chloe sat Lute there and put his hands on the strings, then took a step back with a smile.

Lute felt Chloe guide him through the halls. He then let Chloe help him sit down and guide his fingers to the strings. They felt so familiar under his fingers. He slowly plucked a few, remembering where his fingers were on the instrument. He then carefully plucked a string one at a time in a sort of tune. Soon he had his bearings and started over, putting both hands on the strings and began to play the song in full. A charming little lullaby from far in his past. One his mother had played for him.

Chloe smiled and sat on the floor, staring up at Lute's fingers as they moved across the harp strings. She pulled her knees to her chest and wrapped her arms around them, feeling like a child as she listened with a content smile.

Lute continued his song until it came to its soft end, him sighing some. He then straightened, glancing around a little. "Chloe? Where are you?"

Chloe put her hand out and on Lute's foot. "Right here. That was lovely," she said, a grin on her face. She'd never had a friend that was as interested in music as she was, and she was hoping that Lute would at least be more interested than her other friends.

Lute looked down at his foot and smiled some. Was she smiling? He couldn't tell. How he wished he could. Maybe... Maybe he did want his sight. Just for one moment. Just to see Chloe, this duchess of music, smile that bright smile he bet she had. "Did you like it?"

"I did. Where did you learn that?" she asked, removing her hand from Lute's foot but not moving aside from that.

Lute smiled some, leaning away from the harp some. "My mother played that for me as a child. It helped me get to sleep." he said, sighing contently.
