Hey guys... I never wrote a (flesh out, not pure-evil) villain before, does anone have any idea how to write at least a good-written villain, tip and stuffs?

Well the main thing with a Villain is you need to define what's their objective. As an "Antagonist" Villains are by definition forces of change and are usually a part of some extreme counterculture or perspective to the general society they grow from. Though that's the more "traditional" villain in my mind. They're guided by purely selfish reasons when you strip down grounding features like quirks, likes, dislikes, and personal flare that make it seem like they came to this through a life "equation" that summed up into a villainous person.

The "none-traditional" villain to me tend to be the "fallen hero" arc-types. Or the over reaching visionary that looses sight of the things they wanted to protect or service. It's the Faustian kind of thing where you trade a part of your soul (or whole sale that thing) for the power/means to enact change (which like i said before is what defines villains).

I personally like to think in the course of any kind of creation you need to just ask a question about something around you that you don't understand and you want to make sense of. As human we're kinda hardwired to connect dots if there isn't a clear narrative or through line of cause & effect, and that sometimes might create bad assumption or false truths.
I'd say ask yourself a question about society and then draw out conclusions as to why we do those things or whatever it is and then try building a personality that might thrive in the negatives of this action, group, or etc. really it can take root in a number things.

also I wouldn't stress writing the perfect villain or making them good. sometimes villains need the room to absorb their surroundings to gain the resolved conflict they wish to act upon or seek-out (more often the later than the former).

i'm not sure, last time i made a villain in a Soul Eater RP (a long time ago) it was embarrassing. and may or may not have crippling anxiety that my character's profile might end up in tumblr's "marysue-shaming" blogs so...

I'm curious, how did a Soul Eater RP work for a combat system? Wouldn't one person have to take a back seat in posting?

We don't. We screw up with our scenes and die like men. >.>;; But that's, like, 3-4 years ago

Just wondering is it harder to use a cannon villain then to make a new one.

Since all canon villains have an already established personality and motives, it can be more difficult to play one of them and stay true to who they are than it is to make your own. Many canon villains also make waves when they arrive whether due to raw power (Doomsday), political/intellectual power (Lex Luthor, Brainiac), vast resources, or some combination of the three.

That being said, a custom villain with similar qualities could be a very powerful force as well. Or you could choose to be someone less notable and work your way up

I was thinking about doing Jervis Tetch aka The Mad Hatter, but I'm not to sure if I can stay true to him. I believe I could do the mad hatter and obsession with wonderland since I love Alice and wonderland myself and the mad hatter, also It might be a little hard but I believe I could do him as a serial killer obsessed with finding his Alice and killing girls with wonderland theme deaths. The only thing I'm not sure about is the mind control devices ability which is his main weapon, I could do it for NPC but when it comes down to others I can see a lot of people saying my characters a great hero/villain and that the mind control won't work on them. Did not think about the waves part although I would say Jervis would be intellectual power because of his super genius level intelligence which lets him use mind control.

That's true. Also that might be fun being seen as a small time villain and then work myself up into a great villain.

Question, Grogan and Refly, is this guild's rp the type where you're allowed to join in things like the scene in Queensland park? Or was it the type where you have to get explicit permission to the people who are there?

The latter, but without the permission part. If your character is in the area the hotzone (I'll call it that for now lol) is occurring within, they have more than than enough reason to participate. If they're in another state or so, there's no way they'll hear of it in time to get there and do something unless they're the Flash or Superman or someone. There was a hotzone in Gotham with Black Mask, for example. Didn't go over so well though in terms of final delivery lol

so, basically, i don't need the explicit PM permission as long as my character actually lives there and as long as it makes sense?

like, for example, my character Ruuben lives in Gotham, and so he can join the Black Mask scene but not, say, the Starfish scene?

and loool what happened in the Black Mask hotzone? did a photobomber got in the high-end photoshoot? XD

Aye, he could have joined the Gotham Docks (nice art btw) if he knew of the situation. That one spontaneously happened though, a way to initiate NPC testing with the mods to help the lack of villain numbers, so most weren't aware until the conclusion, which is what's going on now. There will be more to come, one clear situation occurring in Space-Coast City next.

As for what happened, a lot of misreading and poor interpretation on others ends, but hopefully a learning experience all the same XD

Hey everyone, it's Hani! It's been awhile since I've been around here, but I'd like to try to get back into the swing of things!

In case anyone was wondering, my character holds the Batgirl legacy title, so if anyone has any plot ideas to shoot my way I'd love to hear them! I look forward to meeting all of you. c:
