Alley watched as Pyra seemed to gloss over Mirai's gauntlet like she can seen some of the scientists gloss over some of their work. With fascination and almost want. She had a brief thought of wondering what she would do if they both found out she actually had nanos in her blood. Not that they would ever find out, she got the hint, don't tell them a thing. That was depressing all on it's own. She got free from the lab, but not the clutches of the owner. Alley raised her eyebrow at the suggestion of Japanese food. What the hell did she mean by that? “What does Japanese mean?” She asked simply, tilting her head in confusion. She never heard that word before. But if it was good, she wouldn't object to it, it was just a really odd word. She was going to need to read up as much as she could to get caught up with everyone. She was obviously missing a lot of things and would get very behind on conversations if she didn't get caught up. She made a note to see about a tablet so she could get access to information the scientists controlled. She didn't learn much, just reading what they said she could. She certainly didn't remember seeing Japanese in the pages they gave. It was mostly about wolves honestly, why she didn't know.
Alley raised another eyebrow at the object that Mirai pulled out. She was gravely confused, how was she suppose to use that animal shaped item for medicine? She watched as the woman put some kind of grass looking stuff. She was going to guess it was green as well, but no way to confirm it unless she asked. She supposed that it could work like that, medicine did come from plants in the beginning. But they were much more useful when worked on and actually extracted for their intended purpose. She never heard of a medicine that helped calm one down. She was use to medicine that made her stay awake or instantly knock her out when she was getting angry with the scientists. Her nose instantly wrinkled when Mirai lit the end of the item, instantly covering her nose. “By the Sun, if gnarly is saying it smells rancid, then yes, yes it does. I wish I didn't have such a high sense of smell. I'll be smelling that for hours on you. Wouldn't it be better to get that in pill form, surely they found a way to do such a thing with that product.” She didn't care if it was insulting. Alley would have preferred Mirai take the extra minutes she surely had while waiting for them to breath in whatever she was burning in the privacy of her apartment than next to them. She couldn't describe the smell, but it smelled almost as bad as the scientists experiment on an animal called a skunk. Alley had avoid the area after a small accident happened with it and she could smell the scent on the scientists for a week even though they claimed they took tomato baths. Who knew why they bathed in tomatoes.
Alley followed the girls to the train station, her nose twitching at the scents she was getting once again from the rush of people. Alley turned a few time as she followed the women, almost stopping when she caught something that was off and couldn't place it. Alley did her best to keep up, glad when they could sit down and not move anymore. At least that's what she thought, quickly grabbing the seat when she felt the train move, her nails growing a bit for her to get a better hold. This thing moved on it's own? Alley looked out the window, quickly getting on her knees, letting the seat go, her nails receding, her eyes going wide as she watched buildings and such move past them at incredible speeds, she put her hands on the window for better balance as she peered out.”This device is amazing!” She said excitedly, smiling at the others. She sat back down on her bottom, and listened to Mirai as she told them about where they were going. She could only tilt her head at the odd names she said. Sushi, onigri, and donburi were one of them, that were sold with something called ramen. She was glad that Mirai explained the foods she was telling them about. It made it easier. Alley stepped off the train, her excitement showing clearly on her face at the thought that she was now at a different place in just mere minutes when it would have taken her much longer to reach there by foot. It was amazing concept. She needed to learn things, a lot of things.
Alley followed Mirai and Pyra down the streets, being taken over by scents again. She almost thought about holding one of the girls' arms just to make sure she stayed with them, but she managed slowly. Alley titled her head when Mirai said some odd words to a man that was smoking as well, then explained that she was asking for directions. Did they have some odd language? Was it that Japanese that Mirai had told them. Alley wondered if she need to learn it in order to function out here. Alley soon found herself sitting in a place that smelled strongly of food. She almost couldn't smell anything else, making her a little edgy. She wasn't use to over-whelming scents that lasted. She glanced down at the item she was handed, something they called a menu, seeing a list of items she could only guess was the food. She read the entire thing, asking Mirai about each dish. She wasn't about to order one thing when she could possibly have had something else that would have been better, which she did explain to Mirai why she was asking about each dish. But then again, everything was so different for her that she was having a hard time to choosing. She contemplated just ordering the same thing as Mirai, but decided against it, that would probably be too weird. The Tonkotsu Ramen sounded interesting to say the least, ordering it along with Oykadon Bonduri and a grilled beef rib oni-giri, feeling her stomach clench at the thought of eating cooked food.

Seraphina 'Pyra' Rothford
Mission: Food!
Seraphina's numb mind didn't register Mirai entering the hallway and sitting against the wall, it was instead mesmerized by the way the small flame danced in the slight change of air current caused by both of her companions rejoining her. Pyra barely noticed Mirai talking about Japanese food, at the mention of food her stomach grumbled loudly and broke the "moth to a flame" trance, Pyra flicked the lid closed snuffing the tiny fire out of existence. "Ooo, Japanese sounds lovely, darling!" Her British accent was thicker almost Cockney, and her eyes grew wide at the realization of what she had just said, and how Mirai could take it the wrong way. A common word in the UK, "darling" was more of an endearment, and they hadn't known each other long, maybe an hour. She held her breath staring at Mirai waiting for her reaction, Seraphina wasn't quite sure why she was this nervous about calling Mirai darling,' nor why she wanted Mirai to smile at her and call her Strawbs again. Fighting the blush spreading across her face Pyra forced herself to focus on Mirai fiddling with a lipstick tube then pulling a drawer out of a pocket demention. Wow! That kind of tech was not cheap and for it to be that small, that little lipstick tube had probably cost a pretty penny. "Spread me on some toast! 'Cause I'm jelly." A small part of her didn't mind that if Mirai was involved. 'Ggrroooozzzz!!' Goliath roared in her mind mentally running for the hills, this startled her enough to refocus from a fantasy Mirai to the real one. Which was packing the bowl of what had to be the most awesome pipe she had ever seen. The glass pipe was formed into the shape of a dragon. "Yeah, medicine..." She joked after offering a light, then nodding in agreement as it was a good idea to wait for more ventilation before overloading Alley's sensitive sense of smell, then turning to Alley, she explained. "It isn't the typical over the counter kind of medicine. The closest to pills I know of are Hash Brownies."
They stepped out of the elevator and Seraphina waved at the robotic clerk. "Cheerio mate!""To you as well madam!" Once they were outside Pyra reached up with her zippo, and with a couple flicks of the wrist the lighter was open and the flame was again dancing before her. Tauntingly. She resisted the pull of the fire calling to her, and lit the bud sitting in the glass dragon's head, allowing Mirai to pull in a long drag she quickly closed her lighter. But noticed how close she was to Mirai and a warm tingle ran up her spine, and she smiled as the smell of the burning weed wafting up from the pipe. "Pretty strong stuff, that." Pyra commented then watched as Mirai blew the smoke back into the dragon's tail and, surprisingly, out of its mouth to awesome effect. "Oooo! That's soooo bloody cool!" Seraphina practically squeed, and asked Mirai every question about the pipe, as they walked away from their new apartment towards the train station.
Getting on the train was an adventure, used to the subways of England it was neat to ride in one above ground, watching Alley getting excited about public transportation was intriguing. Almost child like Alley kneeled on the seat and looked out of the train window at the city rapid passing by. "Yeah, technology is pretty great!" Getting off the train they were thrown into a chaotic open style market, weaving through the large crowds snd nearly losing one another and even asking for directions they managed to get to the Japanese restaurant. It seemed a tad bit small but rich in authentic, looking, trinkets and decorations, they took their seats, Mirai looked at home, but Alley looked a bit shell shocked from all that they had gone through in such a short time. Looking over the menu Pyra was glad that Alley asked about all the dishes and easily picking out what she wanted. Ordering a bunch of Yakitori, skewers of charcoal grilled chicken seasoned with tare and Shabu-Shabu, named after the sound of thin slices of pork or beef being swished around in bubbling broth. Oh yeah, this is going to be a great meal, and hopefully a good start of their friendship.

When Alley had actually looked up and asked her what 'Japanese' meant, Mirai had been genuinely surprised by it. They had been in the middle of getting everything figured out, so she hadn't the time to explain it all to her, then, but she made a mental note to actually investigate how the woman didn't know about what Japanese even was. Pyra, however, seem quite taken with the idea to go and get some Japanese food. As she spoke, she called Mirai 'darling' and Mirai almost laughed as she did. "I have to admit, I do love you Brits and the way you talk. The accent is 'bloody' adorable." Mirai stated, taking on a terrible version of the cockney drawl. Down the elevator, she was waiting to get herself a drag off of her dragon, and Pyra chimed in once more, stating that she was jelly about the space-time flux drawer, and Mirai smirked as she looked at her. "If you guys end up sticking around, maybe I can rig you something up like it." She stated with a grin. However, as Mirai actually managed to get a hit off of her pipe, when they stepped outside, Alley's nose wrinkled and she responded to the smell just as Mirai had thought she might. The girl had a bit of sensitivity to smell, it would seem. She had picked up the trace scents of smoke and fire on Pyra earlier, and now, she was saying that she had a high sense of smell, and that it smelt absolutely rancid. Mirai, placed one hand on each hip and belted out a laugh at the response and she gave Alley a playful shove, though not hard enough to really displace her, just to be affectionate in a way. "Well, my dear, I know you're going to hate me forever, but pills aren't my cup of tea. This rancid smell of mine might just have to grow on you over time, yeah?" She said with another chuckle, and a genuine smile at Alley. She liked people like Alley. They were unabashed and unafraid of saying what was on their mind. She was genuine and transparent, and that made Mirai immediately more prone to trusting her...she felt less afraid of what she didn't know the woman was thinking or feeling. Pyra was saying something about the weed being strong and Mirai, as she blew the smoke back through the pipe, causing the fruity aroma to escape the dragon's mouth instead of the rancid stink that Alley was talking about. Mirai knew that lighting it still caused the adverse smell...perhaps she could work out some sort of different way to alter the pipe and have it not so bad for when Alley was around.
Pyra actively asked questions about the pipe as they walked, how it worked to blow the smoke back through, where the scents came from and all that jazz. She explained the flaps that worked to block air from blowing the weed in the bowl away, and the small misters on the inside that secreted strong oils to flavor the smoke, making it smell quite nice as it came out the other end. When the girls finally made it to the train, Alley got onto her knees and was staring out the window like a child as they went along, stating how amazing the device was. She didn't know language, she didn't know technology, she had come to them in rags with no shoes on after running through a damn forest...where did she come from? Mirai bit at her lip as she thought about it...this one was interesting. Weird, sure, but she was interesting none-the-less. She was cute, this girl. She was like watching a child discovering the world for the first time. When they actually got to the restaurant, it was Alley's time to start asking questions, and did she ever. Mirai was almost overwhelmed by it all. She hadn't been so social in quite some time, and she was struggling to keep it all together, but it definitely helped to have the weed in her system. Felt her mouth begin to grow pasty, and as Alley asked questions, the waiter brought their tea and water, and she drank her glass of water between answering the questions about the food, until they had all settled and ordered. The food didn't take too long to come out, even though it was busy, and when they set it down in front of them, Mirai's mouth began to water.
"To becoming baiters." Mirai stated, holding up her tea cup for a cheers. If Alley didn't quite understand what they were doing, she would help her along, and guide her hand with her cup and knock it against theirs, explaining the custom of celebration. She dug into her food almost immediately, not waiting around for any ceremony as they all ate. "So, after we get fuelled up, are you guys ready to get a mission on the road? I need to get out of the city for a bit and see just what's waiting for us out there." She stated with a grin, eating another mouthful and looking between the girls to see what they would think about it. She allowed discussion to take place on what else they needed done before they could go, and they spoke idly about the day and their entrance fights. She was surprised to find out that the A.I. core that she had was actually the same type as the one that Alley had received as well. She also explained just what Japanese was, as they ate, so that Alley had an idea of the culture she came from, and the origins of the food that she was eating. And when the meal had finished, and all was said and done, Mirai paid for it with her baiter card. The carbon-fiber card with the boombox making a skull and crossbones out of the boom box and wrenches made her grin as the waiter scanned it through and their meals were paid for. Now, it was time to get things rolling.

A beauty outside,
a beast inside
Alley raised her eyebrows at Pyra's phrase about spreading her on toast. That was an odd one, that was for sure. Did she want to be jelly secretly? But that didn't make sense. Jelly was suppose to be eaten, why would a human want to be eaten? She just shook her head, not bothering to ask. Some things just didn't make sense to her and she learned to not push things. You learn to do that when scientists just do things for the sake of 'science'. She frowned when Pyra said there wasn't a pill for this medicine while Mirai said pills weren't her cup of tea. She didn't tell Mirai to get a cup of tea, she told her to get a pill form that rancid medicine she insisted on inhaling. She was just glad to move away from the area.
Alley smiled at Pyra when she spoken in response to her excitement over the train device. But her smile went down a little, seeing the look on Mirai. It was a look of contemplation and she knew what about. Alley had come to them with only the clothes on her back that she had worn for a few days, didn't know what a train was or what Japanese meant. And Mirai was trying to piece it together. She couldn't possibly guess that she came from the lab, an idea like that would probably be beyond what they could possibly guess. But eventually she would need to tell them something or they would push it.
Alley blinked in confusion when Mirai raised her cup and said 'to being baiters.' What in the world? Mirai took her hand with a cup in it, and knocked her cup against her's. This confused her even more until Mirai finally explained that it was a form of celebration. Alley smiled happily, for it was the first time she actually to celebrate something she actually wanted to celebrate herself. Alley agreed to the mission idea, figuring she should see about staying away from the city as much as she could. With the old man being here, it dampened her want to stick around too much. During their meal, Alley didn't realize how low her hair was on the floor, well to be honest with her sitting so low, her hair was a small pool on the floor and unfortunately it had gotten stepped on. Alley couldn't hold back the animal yelp that cried out of her mouth as she yank her hair up, glaring at the person. They apologized, backing away. Alley quickly pulled her together, taking the hair tie that held the braid in front out and put it in the mass of hair she held behind her head. It was a very messy bun she didn't care. She didn't want it to get stepped on again. Soon she sighed with relief at her stomach full of well cooked food. It had been amazing food as well. Nothing compared to the lab food she had gotten. She almost commented as much, but caught herself and kept quiet. She honestly wanted to take a nap. A good night sleep on the bed she had spotted in one of the rooms was a lovely idea. But she agreed to a mission with Mirai and didn't want to back out on something she said she would do.

Seraphina blushed a little at Mirai's comment about loving her Brit accent, giggling at her impression of it, replying with one of the few Japanese phrases she learned. "Domo arigato, sensei." Pyra even threw in a little bow, then they continued walking and talking. "That'd be great! I've been wanting to rig up a better way to store extra compressed natural gas. Although I'd love to get or make a flamethrower that used Napalm as fuel. It would be sooo much deadlier!" Pyra's head swarmed with ideas for bigger and better flamethrower designs now that being a Baiter she had access to whatever materials she wanted! Seraphina's mind still buzzing she grilled Mirai about the ins and outs of the pipe, and that just added to her hype, she almost sqeed.
Surprised that their food came out quite quickly after they ordered, especially with how crowded the restaurant was. Mirai motioned a toast to being Baiters, Pyra moved her glass up and Mirai helped Alley's up with theirs. Clink. "And to new friends!" She added with a great big smile as she looked back and forth from Mirai and Alley, her new friends. 'Cheers! Mates!" Digging into their meals like ravenous beasts they chatted about getting back to Headquarters and nabbing a mission. "Oh definitely!" She said between bites of her delicious meal, some parts of her regal upbringing reminding her that it's impolite to speak when ones mouth was full. To be honest she was itching to bring the fight to the A.I. cores, for far too long had she just defended herself from them. About halfway through their meal somepasserby actually stepped on Alley's hair to which a yelp like a canines issued from Alley's mouth, before bundling it up into a big bun on top of her head. "I couldn't stand having hair that long, I mean don't get me wrong it looks great! But it would be just too much hassle for me." Pyra commented as she watched Alley put the hair tie in, heck parts of Alley's hair was still wet. They continued chatting getting on the topic of their A.I. cores finding out that Alley and Mirai had both gotten a Uni blaster. "Ooo... Uni blaster huh? Kinda cool that you guys got the same core! I got a big ol' Logger... Doesn't like fire." Pyra's face fell a little and surprisingly Goliath kept quiet. "Have you guys names yours? Mine earned its name, Goliath." Her eyes bright she awaited their responses. Wrapping up their meal, full to the brim, Mirai got up and paid with her sleek carbon fiber Baiter card.
Making their way through the crowds once again they hopped on another train this one taking them up almost to Baiter Headquarters. Disembarking they went up the steps to the main entrance Pyra remembered that she didn't have a weapon and that just wouldn't do. "Hey, you guys can go grab the mission I need to pop into the armory to pick up some firepower." Waving she headed down to the armory showing her Baiter card to get through the door into weapon heaven. So many blades, hammers, spears and other melee weapons she grabbed a hunting knife and attached its sheath to a cargo belt she also acquired. She dove farther into the vault of goodies, into the firearms section. "Oh baby!" Pyra all but drooled at the smorgasbord of slugthrowing goodness, looking through the rifles for a nice assault rifle suiting her needs. High rate of fire, low recoil, great accuracy, and preferably 7.62x39mm ammo, she found a B.A.I.T.R. custom made assault rifle the BA101. Going to accessories she popped a four times zoom ACOG scope on top and a shiny new Mk.500 under barrel flamethrower. "Nice! They managed to fix up the fuel into a clip system, that's pretty ******** rad!" Hooking up a sling and filling up on ammunition she made her way out of the armory and headed up to the offices to catch up with the others. They had some arse to kick!

Threigze Fionsi Bez truda, ne vitashish i ribku iz pruda.
There were very few things in Thre's life she considered strange. Being a being from another planet tends to have that effect on one. She'd been to several places, seen several things, and experienced plenty. A life on the road will do that. However, despite all of this, regardless of all these facts, there was nothing, literally nothing, that could compare to the feeling of dying and coming back to life. Nothing even came close. The feeling of every single drop of life left her body was something indescribable, and the feeling of it all coming back was just as weird of an experience, and just as hard to describe.
Her eyes snapped open, suddenly, causing the person who was looking over her charts to startle, and jump a few inches into the air. Apparently they were really rather engrossed in what they were doing, either way that didn't matter. What did matter was the fact that Thre woke up to find herself in a chamber, enclosed and locked away. Some might look at this like a good thing, them being healed, but Thre simply couldn't handle it! She hated being locked up, being closed away.
On top of all of that, however, came something not quite normal. It was completely instinctual. She died. She had died! Her lips parted in a terrified scream, her body jerking about as she practically drowned in her terror. Dealing with two things that brought out her deepest fears were obviously not good for her. The people in the room immediately began responding to the sensors and such that were going off, but she didn't give them time to actually do anything. Within seconds of her mind switching on, her arm had turned into those devastatingly sharp claws and she began to thrash about, slicing all the metal and glass that she could reach, her screams muffled in the bubbles spewing from her mouth.
Within the few moments since Thre woke up, the room went from casual normalcy, to utter chaos.
Unfortunately for the people, the terror gripping the poor young woman did not cease when the cage fell to pieces around her as she finally struck home with her haphazard swinging. Glass, wires, bits of metal all clattered to the ground in a mess of sound. When all was said and done, the rebirth unit was in shambles, and there were quiet sobs coming from within. What those around her didn't know, was that it was all thanks to Summer, her A.I. that she had even managed to calm down.
During the meltdown, for there was no other way to describe it, Summer immediately started talking to Thre. Telling her everything was okay. She was fine now. That she wasn't trapped. It took the Omega Model several attempts for her words to come through, before the young teen was even able to recognize that she was talking. Once she did, she noticeably calmed from her blind terror, and in its place was a sort of humiliation that always followed being terrified like that, and a deep sadness at having faced death, something she never wanted to do in her life.
There was also pain, pain the likes of which she had never experienced before in her life. "That's the price of coming back to life sweetheart." The soothing voice from the back of her mind spoke softly, explaining why she felt like she was being sat on by a massive bear, or perhaps a truck. Something huge and heavy, that caused her pulsing amounts of pain. "Now calm down, deep breaths. Don't think about anything else but calming down." Summer slowly tried to bring her back to a state of calm.
It took a few minutes for the doctors and technical employees to get to her, because of the mess she made in coming back to life, but once they did they found her, huddled into a little ball, in the bottom of her rebirth chamber. While Summer had been successful for the most part, there was nothing that could prepare someone so young to face death, hell nothing could really prepare her for having to face such reprehensible creatures either, but that was sort of minor in comparison. Suffice it to say, who they found in that broken piece of machinery was not who left to go out on that mission barely an hour or two before.
It took a little doing, but they managed to get the little one up and off to the side, so they could begin cleaning while a doctor looked her over to make sure that nothing was wrong. At first, everything seemed fine, there was a little hesitancy from the doctor, who couldn't believe how young she was at first glance, but that passed quickly. It was replaced, just as quickly, with amazed confusion, something she had to quickly squash. It would do no good if her secret got out, Cain would rain hell down on her, the likes of which she wanted nothing to do with.
Right now.
Later on, she wouldn't have a problem ripping the man's spine out from his stomach, but right now she knew she would never be able to touch him, and dying was not something she wanted to deal with again.
When the doctor finally relented and agreed to keep quiet about her strange inner anatomy, after she agreed to see him and only him for medical issues, she could be found sitting underneath a blanked with a warm cup of hot chocolate in her hands. A part of her mind was hoping that she wouldn't see Ilya, but she had to make sure. So she stuck around, despite how uneasy those glowing machines, hell this room in general made her feel, waiting and watching. Ilya could find her here when he survived, but she would be here waiting if he died.

Ilya never thought that he would ever be able to hurt this much in his entire life. He was so tired, and so scared that when he opened his eyes he was already panicking. The last thing that he had seen was Acel going insane, or… Something. He still wasn’t too sure what was going on with that man. He wanted to scream… Wanted to bang on the glass in front of him, but something stopped him. Instead, he pulled his arms into his chest, bright blue eyes wide as dinner plates as he looked around the small tube he was in. It was cold, and there was a bright light above him that freaked him out more. Were they bright? Or was that just his panic amplifying the light? Ilya couldn’t tell anymore.
A tap came to the glass, frightening him even more. He pulled back, a squeal almost escaping the poor boy's lips. No sound came out, however, as the chamber opened itself for Ilya to step out. His eyes were still wide, and Ilya would not step down, almost like a cornered fox curled up as much as it can, making his body small. He wanted to vanish, to hide until he calmed down enough to tackle the thoughts that flew through his mind.
But then a hand reached out, a gentle hand he had never seen before reaching out to help him out of the rebirthing chamber. For a moment, Ilya did not move. He simply stared at the hand, his mind blank, unable to think about anything that could possibly be. What the person could possibly want. Ilya froze again, scooting farther back into the back of the chamber he was in. His feet were frozen in place, and he felt like there was still danger surrounding him. His whole body hurt, and he couldn’t shake the fear in him from the moment of death. The Jailer making his final attack flashed through his mind again, the way Acel’s skin flaked off his body… the look in the man’s eye, and the way his voice changed. It all unsettled him in a way that seized his heart once more.
The small boy looked up at the face that owned the hand, finally registering the person that wanted to help. ’Take it, my boy.’ Immediately, tears fell from the boy’s cheeks once again, all that fear coming out while the panic finally dissipated. Ilya took the doctor’s hand, allowing the kind man to pull him out of the rebirthing chamber. There was a sudden swell of whispers surrounding him. Some of them he couldn’t quite make out, but he caught a few words from some of the people who were much closer to him. They were whispering about him. About the fact that someone let a child take the Half, that someone had let a mere child take on the life of a Baiter. That the child had even survived the Half! The poor boy shook, his wide eyes meeting with the doctors once more. The man smiled, patting his hand and telling him not to worry. His voice was calming, allowing Ilya to take a deep breath
It took a long moment, but Ilya finally let the doctor look him over to make sure that he was doing alright. The man was gentle and kind, always using a soft tone with Ilya to make sure the poor boy remained calm. It was hard, but the man cracked jokes and told stories to the boy to get his mind off his recent death. It made the kid feel better, made him feel as if he could perhaps he could pull off another mission. Ilya smiled through the tears as the doctor finished up his examination. “Now, if you ever come back, make sure that you don’t cry like this, ya hear?” The man had an interesting accent, one that he had never heard before. But it was nice and twangy. He liked it.
The boy nodded, the smile still on his face. Now, he had to go find his best friend. Should be easy enough, she only died a few moments before he did… So Ilya thanked the man with a smile and a quick hug before making his way through his small section of the Rebirthing Center to where the door was. But Ilya didn’t even have to leave to be able to find the young girl. She was already waiting for him, a cup of hot cocoa in hand and a blanket on her shoulders. Unable to help himself, his tiny body took off running. Tears fell down the boys face once again as he slammed into her, not caring if any of the hot cocoa spilled on him. ”I’m so sorry!” the boy sobbed when he finally wrapped his arms around his friend. ”I didn’t want you to die! I wanted to make sure you were safe!” The water works would never stop with Ilya, but he couldn’t help it. Seeing his friend again so soon after both of them die… After hearing her scream like that… It was good to see her alive.

Sarah Hartwell
۩…………………………………………………………………۩
Sarah breathed happily once the code was downloaded. Feeling much stronger, she could even feel her Guard enjoying the new found strength from the AIs. She walked carefully around, picking up her non-ruined weapons from the ground and put them back into their travel forms. She sighed at the sight of her ruined sword, hoping she could get a new one soon. She liked the idea of having both so she had the chance to hold both the swords instead of being limited to just one. She made her way slowly, keeping low and quiet as possible to keep from being detected from any other AIs in the area. She was tired and didn't want to fight any more. She got what she needed and just wanted to head back, she was getting hungry.
Sarah picked up the backpack she had hid when she first encountered the Quazzar, putting it back on her shoulder and headed back to the building that held the scientist that requested the computer parts. She made it before they locked down. Being greeted by an exicted scientist. “Oh thank you so much. These will definitely help us. Please bandage up your burns to and then head out when you're ready.” The woman said, pointing at a chair. Sarah smiled at the woman and thanked her, allowing another woman come around with bandages and burn cream. Sarah soon found her forearm wrapped completely to cover to the burn to keep her from brushing it against anything and hurting herself. The same with her lower torso, having wrapped her entire stomach instead of just taping over the small spot. “Just to make sure it doesn't fall off.” Sarah didn't argue, but thanked her. She stepped onto the portal and soon felt the machine activate. She opened her eyes to find that she was now back at the headquarters's portal room.
She smiled at the people who manned the room and headed out. She felt good, she completed a mission on her, successfully. She walked with a spring her step for the first since she did a successful performance with her friend Jenny. “Those poor kids, honestly, what were their parents thinking, letting them do the Half process.” Sarah skidded to a stop, looking back at the workers that spoke. Her mind was slow to process what they said. Children? Baiter children? Was that even possible? She stopped the workers, asking them quickly where the children were. She thanked them, turning her heel and speeding down the hall. They died on their mission. Those poor kids. She stepped up the Rebirthing Center, opening the door. She spotted the two children almost instantly, a boy with white hair hugging a young teenage girl. The boy was crying while the girl looked like she was stuck in shock. Sarah felt her heart grip at the sight. She walked up to them, gently knocking on the wall next to them to let them know she was there. She gave them a gentle smile before getting to their level. “Hello. Sorry to come up to like this, but I heard about what happened. I'm Sarah Hartwell, I'm a baiter here.” She kept her voice low and soft, meeting their eyes with her gray ones. She didn't change her voice to a high pitched one like most would do with children. But she made sure that they could see her bandages. She hoped that if seeing that she had just been through a mission herself would help them open up to her.
She slowly sat down on the bed beside the young teenager. She looked between them, feeling her heart ache at the sight of them. They were young, much younger than when she decided she was even going to be a baiter. “I must say, you two are much younger than I thought. But I'm impressed. I never even thought of being a baiter until I was a lot older. You're a lot braver than me.” She said, giving a small laugh. “And already more experienced than me.” She said with a smile. They died before she did, she still shuddered at the thought that she could die. And then come back. What was that like? She wasn't going to ask them. If they wanted to talk about it, they would. She would give them the door, but they could decide if they wanted to walk through it.

Had Mirai cared enough to observe Alley more closely on the train, she might have seen that bit of a drop in her face while she was contemplating the reasons for her lack of knowledge on certain things...but, she wasn't. She had thought about it and then it had gone by in a blink, on to the next subject. When they had all come together in the restaurant and made their orders, and made their toast, Mirai actually found herself eventually easing into the situation and enjoying it. She was restless, and she wanted to get out there, not thinking this whole rigmarole of bonding and getting their apartments would actually take a better portion of the day. But, these girls wanted to have that stuff done, and she couldn't blame them for that. She was amused by Alley's confusion while they were toasting, but she seemed to fully understand the purpose after Mirai explained, and she chuckled about it as they finished the toast, Pyra adding in 'to new friends' as well. Mirai had thought about saying that...but she knew she wasn't quite ready for that. Wasn't ready to call them friends...to let them in. Though...hell, there was no reason for them to know it. "Aye, to new friends!" She stated with a grin. She knew how to play people, by now. She had to learn quickly on the streets--how to make people believe you were someone else...to bury the sadness and build a smile on top of it with lies. Mirai had noticed Alley's lengthy hair--and honestly had no idea how the woman dealt with it--but when the woman yelped like an animal during dinner and then quickly picked it up and began tying it into a bun, Mirai was a little startled. She saw the expression on the person's face and even though she had been a little taken aback by the noise at first, Mirai burst into a fit of little laughs at the incident. "That's one hell of a stare. Guy might need a new pair of briefs before he sits back down." Mirai said between bites, still chuckling about the poor b*****d. As they ate, the other girls seemed to enjoy the food, which she was very happy to see. She wasn't sure if it would suit their palettes, but it seemed she had chosen well. Alley, in particular, had seemed to enjoy the food, and she ate without making much conversation during the meal--which showed that she was busy enjoying the taste of her food--at least usually that's what it meant.
Pyra, however, had been a little more talkative during the meal, which Mirai was fine with, though she was still trying to work her way around the whole new group dynamic. She was used to hanging out with users and criminals...these two were neither of those things--at least at first glance it wouldn't seem like it. Other than Alley...maybe she could be some sort of prison runaway. It would be a hell of a story if she were really from Rio. The prisons there were insane, she heard. She shook her head to try and rid herself of the badass fantasies of Allie beating back guards and escaping the pits of hell, and as she did, Pyra was asking about the names of their A.I.. She had already shaken her head, and Pyra might have taken that as her saying that she had no name for her A.I., which, to be fair, was the truth. She hadn't thought about it too much. The thing was cool as hell, she had to admit, the way that it spoke through music, and amped her up during battle. She was excited to actually fight alongside it instead of against it. Suddenly the gauntlet lit up, a myriad of colors shining through the designed lines along the fist weapon. Suddenly the gauntlet's lines all went dim, except a few strokes along it, lighting up an A. Then a B. Then C, and it cycled suddenly, flying through the letters and stopping on the U in an instant, the letter flashing. Then, it kept going through them, hitting A and restarting, though this time it stopped directly after on the B, flashing once more. Mirai quirked an eyebrow as she looked at the gauntlet. "Ub? That's an...interesting name.""Naw, naw, naw!" Samuel Jackson's drawl came through the gauntlet suddenly, yelling at them. "Do you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth?" Jackie Chan, this time. Mirai merely quirked a brow at the gauntlet, not having heard anything coming from it before. Then the gauntlet flashed as a U once again, and then a B once again, just the two letters. "We are never ever ever getting back together." The Taylor Swift music chimed out after the letters and Mirai quirked a brow as she looked it over, trying to figure it out. Never getting back together? Okay...so...U and B were not together? "So...U and B...are apart? Like.. U B?""Yeaaahhhhhh!" James Brown cried out, and Mirai shrugged her shoulders. "Seems like it's U.B.? Guess he's an inventive sonofabitch. Uni-Blaster...just cut it down to a couple letters to make it easy.""That's right." The two words were accompanied by Denzel Washington's signature chuckle under the breath before the lights fizzled out and returned to the base state of the worn looking gauntlet. When Mirai looked back up to Alley, she quirked a brow, the girl seeming suddenly distracted and then a look of frustration passed over her features. "He's just...annoying." Mirai snorted, almost spitting out the tea she was drinking, and laughed. "Well, I guess we don't get to choose our own quite yet, eh?"
They chuckled alongside one another and continued their meals until they had all finished. After that, they headed back to the train, riding along until they reached the main section of headquarters again. Pyra let them know that she needed to go and get some firepower for their little excursion, and Mirai shrugged her shoulders and nodded to her. "No probs Strawbs." She said with a chuckle at her own silly rhyme. Damn she was cool as a cucumber. Man..she needed to write that one down. They parted ways as Pyra went to the armoury for her weapons, and her and Alley went back up toward the offices. When they got there, Mirai approached a curt looking woman she had spoken to before, and requested a mission for the three of them. The woman pondered for a moment and smiled issuing an 'ahhhh' of interest as she nodded to herself. The mission they ended up getting was for an area of the world called "Athens". There had been strange lights above the ruins of the city at night, and people were worried it was some sort of A.I. camp. Perhaps they had gathered some electronics and gotten them working so they had places to escape into and bring more from. They would need to get transported there, and to check it out in the night to see if these claims had any truth. It was at this point that Pyra came back, Mirai halfway through explaining the mission to Alley so they all knew what was going on. When Pyra came up, toting her assault rifle, Mirai's eyes widened as she looked it over from a distance. As she got closer Mirai grinned. "Huh...I have never seen this model before! Must be some kind of special version, yeah? Not on the regular markets? Looks pretty." She stated, nodding in approval. She re-started, going over the mission with both of them until they were all comfortable with it. After that, she brought them down with her to the main teleportation section and she took a deep breath as she looked at the machine. She remembered the taste of puke well, though she had managed from actually losing it completely when she had done this her first time. Joy, she got to try again. She looked from one of the girls to the other, and she nodded. It was time to do this. And with that, she stepped through, on her way to Athens, and whatever the outside world had waiting for them.

Threigze Fionsi Bez truda, ne vitashish i ribku iz pruda.
Has there ever been a moment in your life when you felt your stomach drop? Where your heart leaps into your throat?
That is what happened to our poor little alien girl, the second one of those stupid tubes turned on and started working. She watched, with a rapt fascinated horror, at the body forming in one of the tubes, her eyes glued to it, her hands clenching the cup in her hands. She couldn't stop trembling. She was terrified. She had given up her life, so he could live. She wouldn't regret what she was doing, but she might have some strong words for Acel when she saw him again.
Suddenly all the tension left her body, as the body in the tube turned out to not be Ilya. It was some other Baiter who had the misfortune of dying on their mission, something they were apparently okay with, because they went through the entire process without issue. She allowed herself to relax. Clearly he was going to be okay. He would have been here by now.
This didn't stop her from tensing up when the machines started again almost immediately after the man stepped out of his own tube. She watched, much less worried than the last time, but with no less attention. Her entire world froze as his face came to, and she was able to recognize that mop of white hair. He had died. She had done nothing in the end but prolong the inevitable. In that moment, as she watched Ilya get put through getting check over as well, she made a vow. From now on she would make sure nothing like this ever happened again. She would crush everything that came their way, and Ilya would never again know the brutality of death, no matter how many times she had to die to ensure it.
She was pulled from her musings when she noticed him speeding towards her, giving her just barely enough time to move the cup out of the way. She immediately wrapped her arms around him, and pulled him close. He was built different than Alex, more petite. It was an odd thought to have right now, so she kind of ignored it. She started to gently run her fingers through his hair, anything to help him calm down. "You big crybaby. Don't be sorry. s**t happens. I'm fine now, see?" She teased him, before switching over to comforting him. She hoped a little normal interaction would be enough to calm him down, she didn't want to see him cry anymore.
They were like that for a minute or two before someone knocked on the wall nearby, causing her to start. She turned to look at the person who decided it would be a good idea to interrupt them, ready to give them a piece of her mind, only for the words to die in her throat. Her eyes widened at the person standing right there in front of her. She was so shocked by what she saw, that she couldn't even respond immediately.
It was Sarah Hartwell!
Sarah!
********!
HARTWELL!
This woman was one of the most incredible violinists of all time! She was famous! Barely a safe zone on this planet hasn't heard of this goddess! And yet here she was! Standing right here in front of her! Her mind simply could not register this as truth. Her entire body was simply stiff as a board, locked in place, while her eyes widened to the size of saucers.
She was only barely able to recognize that Sarah was talking to her, her mind mostly focusing on processing the fact that easily her favorite pop star, ever, was standing right there in front of her. The fact that she was a Baiter totally blew Thre's mind as well! Not only was Sarah ******** Hartwell here, she was a Baiter just like her! She might have a chance to hang out with easily the most amazing person ever!
Once she gained control of herself, Thre squealed.
So, basically, she stopped being a statue and turned into a fangirl. She squeezed Ilya one quick time, making sure he knew she was still here for him if he needed, before letting him go to move uncomfortably close to Sarah. "Oh my god! I never thought I'd ever meet you! You're amazing! Can you sign everything I own?!" To say Thre was excited to meet Sarah was such a grievous understatement, that were it to be a wound, it would be fatal.
The young lady was currently standing, as mentioned before, uncomfortably close to Sarah, her eyes wide and, oddly enough, sparkling in pure joy as she stared at the woman.

Ilya had never felt such odd, excruciating pain before. But the moment that he collided with Thre and he felt her arms around him, he had to admit that he felt a little better. She was never a soft girl, actually the best way of describing her being a completely solid mass, but nonetheless it was perhaps one of the most comforting things to be in the arms of someone who he loved so dearly. Tears still poured heavily down the poor boys face, even as she tried to comfort him. That was such a horrible experience! It was never something he wanted to live through again. The pain, the darkness, the … everything. Everything was bad, and now Ilya was having a hard time seeing any sort of good in the world. He wanted nothing more than to sit in front of a fireplace and to drink hot cocoa while his mother recited to him a story. But, no. He wouldn’t get that. Not any time soon.
So the poor boy attempted to take in a deep breath. It was shaky, and he had to try a couple times to manage, but soon his breathing was on the right track. Now, instead of drenched sobbing, the boy was able to manage a big grin through his tears. ‘Be strong… Be strong because I have to be…’ He thought. This was his life now… Wasn’t it? To have to live in a miserable state like this, but keep a smile on his face for everyone else? Well… If it meant everyone else would feel better, then so be it. That was what he had to do.
‘Ilya… Don’t feel like you have to be strong for others. You’ll only hurt yourself in the process…’ Gavriil interjected, voicing his concern about the young boy.
Ilya simply wiped away his tears, doing his best to make them stop. ‘But I have to… Otherwise, everyone else will be sad… And that makes me more sad.’ It was simple logic, but it was enough for Gavriil to simply sigh and let it go. There was nothing more that could be said between the two, but the poor boy was going to need support in his endeavors, and Gavriil wasn’t going to simply let the poor boy slip into that dark pit. It simply wasn’t going to happen.
A slight rap on the wall above them startled Ilya, making the boy jump away from Thre to see what it was that was there. Or rather, who. It was a small woman, not anything like his mother at home. She was thin and pretty, big steely grey eyes that looked oh so concerned for the two kids. The woman spoke softly and kindly towards them, and though Ilya’s cheeks were still wet and warm, he couldn’t help but feel a little better about himself. She was another Baiter? “I-It’s nice to meet you, Miss Sarah… I’m Ilya.” The boy spoke, still choking down his tears. He was happy to see such a kind soul, Still, when she mentioned how young he was he couldn’t help but look away shyly. That wasn’t the first time someone had mentioned how young he was… The first was Acel, and that man seemed upset when he found out that a boy so young was a Baiter. Angry, even.
But this woman… She said she was impressed. Impressed that he was able to make such a choice, and that he was already more experienced than her. A tinge of red touched his cheeks at the thought. No… How could that be? He had died! That was nothing special, and Baiters died all the time, judging by how many of them walked through these chambers. But still… Her kind words touched him, and did make him feel ever so slightly better.
It took the boy a couple moments to realize that Thre had completely frozen, though. Ilya looked at the girl, confusion written completely on his tiny face as he questioned why his friend was so struck by this girl. He looked back and forth between Sarah and Thre, wondering what exactly it was that made the girl so excited. But then Thre squeezed Ilya and ran up to her, squealing and asking for her to sign everything she owned. This confused Ilya. Weren’t you not supposed to write on things that weren't meant to be written on? Were there exceptions to that rule? If so, that would be really weird. Still, he was interested in what it was that Thre was so excited about. And why she was standing so close to Sarah in the first place…
“Thre, that’s too close…” He muttered, giving his friend a look. “She’s a Baiter like you… Why are you so excited?” It wasn’t really that Ilya was so weirded out by his friend getting so uncomfortably close and excited about this woman, but the idea that Thre COULD be so excited about a person. Sure, every time they’ve seen each other outside a mission, it’s been a strong hug and spinning him up in the air. Which, by all means, he was happy for. But this? This was too weird. “Miss Sarah?” He said, looking up at the woman with his big, tear stained eyes. He just wanted to know why Thre was freaking out and being weird. He wanted to know if she was okay, and if any of them were going to BE okay. Hard questions to answer, but he wanted to know.

As the children and Sarah had their little introduction, near the birthing chambers, the machines suddenly kicked back into full force--and they would know another Baiter had died. Within the glass-like tube that his body began reconstructing inside, the man's feet would be pieced together first. His body slowly but surely coming together. However, something that did not usually happen--the man's feet wiggled around, as if trying to walk, long before they were attached to anything at all.
Even his fingers wiggled as they formed within the liquid, not yet having come full length back to his body to form arms yet. It was a strange sight to see the limbs and fingers moving about on their own, and several of the attendants watched in horror and awe at it. Though, as Acel's body completed itself and he was identifiable, he was already blinking and moving around in the tube, though he was not panicking. He was used to this. Usually a baiter would gain consciousness only after they had been fully reconstructed, and the tubes had been prepped to be opened. But, not him.
As soon as they knew who it was, the woman stepped forward from the back corner office, where she hid for the most part. She grimaced when she saw the man, and as the tube slid open to him she narrowed her eyes. She placed a single finger under his chin as he stood in the tube and she raised his gaze to meet hers. It took her but only a few instants to completely and totally assess the man. "How much do you know?" Acel's eyes met hers truly for the first time without any avoidance and the sorrow within it was deep enough that she completely let go of his chin and took a step back from him.
It seemed their walls had finally fallen.
Dr. Vi Louiselle knew that she was only able to do so much. She had worked with his parents to lock away the terrible secrets that their child had harboured. They had been working on these walls since the boy was an infant, locking away the code's innate abilities through suppressing it with everything that they had. It was a certain tactic they had used while trying to create soldiers that were partially core-based to enhance their strength by hundreds of times.
Now these walls were gone. She had waited for this moment...waited to be able to see the anguish in the man's face. But the reward she had waited these few long weeks for turned to ash in her mouth, and the anger and hatred that she had felt almost disappeared. Almost.
"I see you got some more kids killed, hero."
His eyes snapped up, the first sign of life he had exhibited since coming back through. Their eyes met, and Acel wondered why she would say something like that...what purpose did it serve?
"I was always against my daughter and you, you know. But, she was a rebellious little brat...and I was, unfortunately, not there to keep her away from you. Why my ex decided to stay in that s**t-hole I will never know...well, seeing as you took them all from me. I have waited to be able to say something to you...waited to be able to look you in the eye, knowing you knew what you did...and I hope you die a thousand deaths...even that wouldn't be enough." She turned on her heel and left, walking back to her office and slamming the door shut.
His world began to collapse upon itself, and he found it difficult to breathe. His vision tunnelled and he felt like he was about to fall unconscious. Even the pain of his body did not register to him. The furious burning in his chest...the creaking in his knee that felt like every time he took a step his cap was coming off and reattaching. He saw the kids, and he saw Sarah near them, and his heart broke into a million pieces as he relived the feeling of his sword pushing through his baby girl's chest.
Tears sprung forth from his eyes as he looked from child to child to woman. They were so far away from him, and he couldn't bear the fact that it was now of all times he would be forced to see each of them again. He had hoped the kids would be long gone...and Sarah...well...he had wanted to see Sarah, sure, but now? Not now...
He took his first step toward them. More tears now...over and over again his hand thrust forward into Lidia's chest. She was so small...and the way that she screamed. Over and over again his wife begged him not to...
As he moved closer to them, and he got close enough for a close look, they would see his face contorted with sadness. Not the kind of sadness you saw every day...but true, complete and total sorrow. The kind you could not help but know was worse than anything you ever wanted to feel. He stopped when he had made it to the group of them, leaving a couple of meters away, knowing the girl was already not fond of him. He wiped his eyes, unable to make eye contact with any of them in this state...knowing that if he looked at the kids right now, it would only cause the visions to worsen.
"I was wrong. Ilya. Thre." He kept his eyes to the floor, though he wished he could look at them and truly deliver his apology. "I lost my daughter...before...before I became a baiter. She died in my arms...she was four. I went with Ilya because...because I never want to see a kid hurt like that again...and I wanted to protect him. But...you are not my children. You do not need my protection...and I forced it on you both like the arrogant fool I have become. I wanted to do the smartest thing...the thing that had the best chance of keeping you alive. I had no right to blame you for doing what you thought was right, however. I could not face my fear of seeing another young person die...but you are no average children...and you have hearts far stronger...and braver than my own. You're going to be....." The words caught in his throat.
"You're going to be great." He stated, this time he looked up from the floor, nodding at them, while making eye contact, though he was weeping openly and unabashedly as he did. He looked quickly away, knowing he could not bear to be here any longer. He had made a fool of himself...disrespected these children, without ever meaning to...and he had to face his past. The deaths of his family by his own hand.
He walked a little closer now, toward Sarah. Trying to steady his breath. "Whatever that monster said to you...know that I understand why I was the target. I don't believe you and Akio don't care...and I am so...incredibly happy to see you safe. I would do it all again...without even thinking about it." He stated, reaching up and placing a hand on her shoulder, half to create the emotional and physical bond that he had wanted to (he had hoped to scoop her up into a hug when he saw her...Akio too), and the other half because he could barely stand. But, this was all he could do for now.
His hand slipped from her shoulder and he stumbled forward, almost hitting the floor, but managing to catch himself. He moved through the hallways without even thinking, his eyes blurred by the tears that he could not staunch. His hands shook with the grip that he had.
I he did not clench his hands, they might grip the handles of his sword and end his pitiful life right now...why...not?

Sarah looked between the two children, noting their reactions. The teenage girl seemed to freeze where she sat while the boy seemed genuinely surprised to see her. Mayve it was weird for someone to suddenly appear before a couple of kids. But she was concerned about them and couldn't ignore the want to check on them. They didn't tell her to go away as soon as they saw her, so that had to be a good sign. The white haired boy spoke up, Sarah's heart jerking at the sound of the boy's breaking voice after crying. She smiled at him though, trying to make sure he knew it was okay. Ilya was his name, she tried to make a note of it in case she ran into him again in the future.
He seemed to calm down as she continued to talk, at first it seemed he was bothered by her remark of their age, actually looking away from her. She realized that he must have heard it a lot already and felt guilty for making the statement now. But she watched his cheeks begin to color when she said she was impressed and the guilt floated away, a little.
The boy looked at his friend who had been quiet while she spoke. She blinked a little when she saw that the girl was looking at her in shock it seemed. Did she say something rude? Was it the age statement she had said? Sarah learned back a bit when the girl was suddenly very close to her face. It took a second to realize that the girl was a fan of hers and was asking for an autograph. Sarah could only blink, trying to remind herself her fans could be anything, even teenage Baiters. She glanced at Ilya who seemed to not know what Thre was talking about, even looking to her for an explanation. Sarah smiled at him to reassure him that his friend wasn't crazy. "I'm a violinist and singer as well as a Baiter, I just recently started as a Baiter."
She gave a small laugh, and turned to Thre to answer her question but she caught movement behind her. It was Acel. She about greeted him but when she truly looked at him, she couldn't bring herself to greet him. He looked like he had visited a funeral of a loved one, the cheerful man she met was not before her. Instead stood a man that looked like he had nothing left. She didn't know what to say. She could only sit there and look at him as he spoke t the children, connecting the dots quickly. He had been the mission and it didn't go well. Not even for him. She stiffened a little when she saw he had been crying. Dear Lord, her happy feeling for completing a mission on her own was completely swept away. She didn't move as he placed a hand on her shoulder, speaking to her personally.
She watched as he shuffled out of the room, usury what to do at first. She felt herself start to tear up. She took a deep breath and smiled at the kids. "I better go check on him. Thre was it? Find me next time and I'll sign whatever you want, I promise." She said as she stood up, giving each of the children a hug. "I hope to see you two soon ." She ran out the room, turning toward the direction she saw him walk to first. She had to ask a few people if they had seen Acel, finding him around a corner. "Acel!" She called out jogging toward him, he paused but not much more than that. She slowly, and very hesitantly, touched his arm to make sure he noticed she was there. She opened her mouth to say something but closed it, feeling uneasy. She wasn't sure how to comfort him. Her family sing to each other to comfort one another. But Acel wasn't her family, so surely that wouldn't help.
'Just hug him, princess, it's something.'
Sarah tensed, not so sure but he was right. She took a deep breath before breaking all her walls and stepped closer, wrapping her thin arms around his sides and pulled him gently into a hug. She couldn't stop herself, the song weld up in her throat and she begun to sing softly. "May it be, an evening star shines down upon you.... May it be, when darkness falls, your heart will be true.... ." She couldn't explain why that song, but it was what came first. She could hear the music to the song playing in head as she sung, unknown that the Guard had opened the memory and surfaced it, playing the music to accompany her song until the end.

Threigze Fionsi Bez truda, ne vitashish i ribku iz pruda.
Oh my god!! Not only was she really this pretty in person, she was also actually as nice as she seemed on TV! It was unbelievable! They say never meet your heroes, but they can all suck it, because this is amazing! So amazing, in fact, she couldn't help but drop her jaw when Ilya turned out to not know who Sarah was. How was that even possible?! This woman was to music what Picasso was to art! A true original! She felt blessed just to be in this woman's presence!
And then everything shattered around her.
She had heard the rebirth machine kick on, but didn't bother turning to look. One part because she simply didn't care, the other part because, well, Sarah Hartwell. It hadn't occurred to her that the b*****d they were on a mission with would die. He was so full of himself, she figured he had what it took to keep himself alive. So when she heard his voice coming from besides them, it was like someone dumped a bucket of ice water on her head, drowning every bit of her happy mood.
It took an impressive amount of self-control for her to not shift her arm into a Gatling gun and fill him full of holes. It wouldn't technically be murder, he'd come back just a little bit later.
How dare this rotten a*****e come and talk to them? Attempting to look weak and pathetic. They had already seen the true him, who did he think he was fooling with that acting? And that fake as ******** sob story? Oh waaah, his kid died. Even if that was true, that didn't excuse the downright awful way he was acting. How many other people's kids have died in this war? Countless. People's children are dying left and right. Parents. Aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters. The list was endless! She knew this fact intimately. Having traveled a good portion of the past year or so from place to place, and being such a social person, she heard all sorts of stories. Knew all sorts of tragedies.
This world was a cruel place, and you had to be strong to survive. Or, she supposed, insane. As was the case with the man before her.
As much as she wanted to call him out on his bullshit, she couldn't afford looking like anything less than a perfect angel in front of Sarah. It wouldn't do! So, instead of saying what she wanted to say, she sneered a little bit, and shrugged noncommittally, giving as negative a reaction as she could without letting out her entire bitchiness. As he walked away she couldn't stop herself from muttered a quiet 'good riddance'.
As she watched him leave, attempting to continue to look pathetic, her eyes widened when she heard honest concern in Sarah's voice when she mentioned that she would have to go check on him. What?! How could this be?! Then it dawned on her. Sarah really was that nice, but this meant she was too nice for her own good. That p***k was using her! Manipulating her! To what end she couldn't say. For that reason alone, she knew she had to keep her mouth shut, but she would watch him. The second he stepped out of line, the second he did something that directly threatened Sarah's life, or her well-being, she would step in and come at him with the full intent to kill him.
In essence, all Thre was doing right now was glaring daggers at the spot that both Sarah and Acel left through, unsure of what to do now.
