Dagoth spent most of the walk memorising how to get back to his room, the distance he had just done was more than what he'd done before down a completely different corridor to the one he'd entered. The walls all looked the same and completely alien to him as he entered the kitchen he couldn't shake missing the small galley on the skull. Before he could lament further Jan and this Madame interrupted ******** about I'm a sir now. Yes please love grouse sounds grand. Whole one if you don't mind."

Dagoth sat on one of the surfaces and crossed his legs. Wiggling his toes towards what he could only think were the fridges, why the mansion served real food was beyond him after all most guests would be on a liquid diet.

"I think that will be two meals, please, Mrs Hastings."
"Right you are sirs. You get yourselves sat down at my ol table and I'll get it meself."

And indeed, near the main stove, in the warmest part of the kitchen, there was an old rustic table and stools, clearly used by the cook to rest in between stirring pots.

Bustling about and chivvying along the two assistants in the room, both of whom bobbed and curtseyed as much as any of the cleaning staff, Hastings prepared two large, steaming plates of grouse, gravy and veg. Setting them on the table, she pulled out a thick chopping board, and a round loaf of freshly cooked farm bread from the warming oven, slicing off thick chunks to set alongside, the crust pleasantly crisp to the bite.
In all, the sort of warming fare offered in farm kitchen throughout the UK for centuries. What set it apart, however, despite Mrs Hastings affable country accent, was that the entire thing had been flavoured exquisitely, to a degree no gourmet could find fault with.

"You get that down you sirs. Plenty more if you need it, and make sure you clean your plates. I don't like to see good food wasted, and I don't have a dog to give the left overs."
"Alas, Madame Hastings, this is no place for a dog. I will let you know as soon as her Ladyship acquires another temporary mutt in residence."
"If that remains me only option, I'd rather not. Too much red meat, and dirty paws all over the carpets! Eat up, Mr Jan, you of all people need your sustenance."

Bustling out the back into a washing area, the sounds of tidying and cleaning were masked by the gentle roar of the fire

Dagoth placed his hand on the work surface and with a quick spin around his wrist he dropped down to his feet. He strolled over to the table and dropped himself on the stool. He watched with some joy at the woman work, this place lacked the banter he was used to but clearly here it was the same feeling. Dagoth grinned deeply when the food was placed in front of him, his hunger had surfaced in no quick time what and smelling the work that was done.

"Thanks love."

Dagoth wolfed the food down, he appeared to all watching as a human tornado of arms and teeth. In no short time he had finished all the food in front of him, without thinking he let out a long burp before grinning slightly more sheepishly than he did before.

"Well I gotta say that's damn fine food."

"Mrs Hastings is one of the best chefs to come out of this country in a century."

Smiling, Jan was but halfway through his meal when Dagoth had finished, carefully slicing a tender strip of flesh from the frame of the bird before him, before consuming it.

He then slid the plate aside, and stood.

"Come, let me show you our training facilities, before Mrs Hastings returns to berat...."
"Tis not berating if its for yer own health Mr Jan! Half a meal is not enough for the Lady's vassal! You're wasting away! I'll put the rest into a sandwich, and I insist it's eaten before you retire."
"...yes, Madame Hastings. Thank you."

Smiling sheepishly in turn, Jan indicated for Dagoth to follow him.
The route now? Downstairs to the large sound proofed doors in the main hall, and the spacious room beyond. Curious lines in the walls indicated some purpose, and once both were within, Jan entered a few basic commands into the panel near the door, until the room shimmered into a simulation of a dojo, one of the slots in the wall opening to release a humanoid shaped drone, which filled out into the facsimilie of a sparring partner.

"Can't live without em. Can't evenly distribute their body parts into matchboxes."

Dagoth followed Jan to the facilities and whistled when the dojo appeared before him. Dagoth walked around touching the walls and floor as he moved, keeping his distance from the drone as he did. The level of detail and technology on display was fantastic.

"Thought this stuff was years away from being used practically, most details I've read was the Gambino family playing with it. Hardly believe there is a working model, I must ask to poke around inside of it. "

"Her Ladyship is not short of funds, and sees fit to use them for such eccentricities as this. The technology is still dependant on light technology, though admittedly some other secrets are built in.

If sir wishes to initiate combat and training, you will need a pair of gloves, boots, and a visor system in which to simulate the full sensations of the experience. Sir is however ensured no genuine wounds within the system.

Her Ladyship has intent to upgrade it in the next few years to avoid such necessities."

Passing over the items he mentioned, Jan smiled.

"You are welcome to access any of the basic perimeters of the room, however it will not allow much else until such time as her Ladyship allocates a code to you. It will allow for basic sparring, use of ambient settings et cetera. In order to end a simulation, remove the visor, close your eyes and reach out for a wall. End program, is the command sir will need.

Will this suit your purpose?"

"For now, will the simulation support weapons? Or can I use physical ones with real weight and flex?"

Dagoth was slightly disappointed at the fact he would have to almost plug into the system to use it but the room itself was more than big and private enough for him to practise his 'kata' and work out some of the rust he had built up over the last week. He had been spending most of the morning flicking through television and mainly sci-fi shows.

"Computer, load new program parameters. Caribbean shore line, midday, June with slight north western breeze."

Dagoth was seeing what this system could do even if it was in its infancy.

"Invalid command. Loading: Summer simulation."

The quiet, calm voice of the computer over rode Jan for a moment, before loading Dagoth's request.

"Sorry sir. As I was saying, YES, you can use your own weapons - the light arrays will pick them up, and the drones are cheap and hard wearing. As for the computer, it cant understand months yet, just seasons. Sadly, for a while, the hardware and software are still limited. Still, it should provide a basic distraction?

Is there anything else I can assist sir with today?"

"Well I'm going to need to borrow a van of somekind. I have some forging to do."

Dagoth whilst being the ship's chief navigator was like the rest of the crew responsible for maintaining and the up keep of the vessel. He had found through years of tutorship from Mae, he had quite the skill for craft metal. He didn't want to spend money on some stuff that he was going to beat the s**t out of.

"I gotta say I'm impressed with the house though. Still seems alil stuffy for me.......A few nights ago something woke in this house. A beast of some kind, now you've told me there are only three others here. So which one Corbin or Iden?"

It had taken the whole tour, food and several hours of idle chatter but now Dagoth had the opportunity and information to ask the question he wanted answering.
PostPosted: Sat Apr 21, 2012 10:48 am

"I will ask her Ladyship with regards to forging, Sir."

Smiling, he was about to turn when Dagoth made a comment. Jan froze, but covered it quickly, coughing softly before replying in a very calm voice.

"...there are no beasts presently detained on the grounds. Only the young Master, and the Mercenary."

Speaking of the mercenary, he was about, looking for stuffs. Yes, he had chosen to explore, which ultimately had led him to peruse the kitchen area. He had seen Jan and Dag leave, to which he found himself curious. Dag, after all, did not bear himself like the household servants. Nine's quest for...well, whatever the heck he was looking for would wait, for the time being he was lurking just outside the TR, eavesdropping.

"So that's your tell."

Dagoth sniffed, gun grease, cordite, brass and coca cola. That was not what he was expecting when the new scent appeared at the base of the door. The Pirate returned his attention to the Butler before him, his tone far more serious as Dagoth deemed his health at risk.

"Do not lie Jan. Something, primal awoke here. I could feel it. Tell me"

"Lying would be most un-gentlemanly of me, sir. Just as her Ladyship never lies, nor do her servants."

A slight raise of the man's head, his honour insulted. However... he remained polite. This was his job after all.

"There are no beasts on the grounds... but something primal? Prehaps. The young Master awoke poorly at the time you recall. It was his voice you likely heard."

There was an edge of coldness in Jan's eyes, but nothing worse. And he HAD answered what Dagoth was trying to find out.
PostPosted: Sat Apr 21, 2012 12:00 pm

"Corbin....wonder if he's the one outside."

Dagoth nodded to the door, he was sure that Jan had noticed who ever it was before the pirate had. Whilst they had been conversing Dagoth had continued to keep a fighting distance between the two of them. He still wasn't sure how the butler would react to Dagoths comments.

"Shall we let him in."

"I can assure you it will not be the young master. Categorically."

Nodding acquiescence to Dagoth's suggestion however, Jan walked over to the door and opened it, poking his head out.

"Good evening sir. I have been showing Dagoth the training suite. Was sir awaiting use of it?"
