Advent

Understanding dawned upon Kal, Daesha's meeting and relevance to getting the Sith on their backs meeting him when she asked about the crime vigos. A small grew across his face as Daesha continued, as she talked aspirantly about the hundreds of crime lords across the galaxy, and... Sewer rats.

"We've never gone big before, Daesha," Kal argued. "The both of us have always been small time. Do you really think we're cut out to run an empire?"

Kal certainly thought it was worth a shot. He felt like it was a big risk, because that meant they had to stick their heads above water and expose their necks, before they could shroud themselves in an expansive criminal network. Kal was always one to throw caution to the wind, however. Where would he be now if he hadn't abandoned the military became Darth Celeste's apprentice? Probably dead on Korriban, Kal thought.

Corruo, Hangar Bay

Sephis blinked twice, surprised and confused by how quickly things had turned around in his favor. He didn't let it show for long, however. He wasn't going to let this opportunity slip away from him.

Sephis stood up fully as Ensis completed giving his orders to him. Yes, they must have have gotten here somehow, the two intruders. And he could talk to Morbella, too, to get details of how she'd first encountered the intruder that had shot her... Maybe order her the check the ships, as well...

"Of course, my Lady," Sephis replied obediently. "I will investigate their ships immediately."

What Sephis didn't say was that he'd find Darth Neiva, soon. If that truly had been Darth Neiva standing in the hangar just minutes ago... She'd been gone for years. What made Ensis think Sephis could track her down now? And there was also the matter of Darth Neiva's return, as is. If Darth Neiva had come back from wherever she had been hiding, and Darth Isani had risen from her, albeit, unconfirmed death, that made Sephis ponder whether there were any more Darths lying in the rafters. And if there were... Sephis knew he couldn't kill Darth Venia.

"I couldn't have a stronger ally," He said, smiling at her words, "and I wouldn't have it any other way."
Mina was more than an adept Knight, she was an experience political figure now, with all the assets that came with the position, and he felt stronger in her presence. If anyone could help him find Isani then it would be her.

The sight of the space port of Theed came into view and, at the speed of their vehicle, they were there within minutes. As the speeder decelerated near his fighter, which R9 had brought near Mina's own ship, he said flatly, "We're going to need a bigger ship."

[ Naboo ]

Mina nods her agreement, and then ruefully adds, "And mine is only on loan from the Republic." The ships Mina has piloted have always been Republic ships, from when she was a sergeant in the Republic military straight up until now. If she and Kennero are going to hunt down his old master, however... Mina is fairly certain the Republic isn't exactly going to consider this a worthy use of her time.

"Speaking of which -- I can only stay for the funeral. There are some matters back on Coruscant I must tie up, perhaps while you find us larger ship?"

[ En Route to Anaxes ]

Mae fights the urge to roll her eyes -- sure, she's talking to a krething Sith, but in then end she's just another person who seems to doubt Mae. She had Darth Neiva and her blonde girl off the ******** Corruo, hadn't she? And was getting them to Anaxes -- and she still[/] has to 'prove her efficiency'? Yeah. More like, ******** that.

And ******** everything else, too; Mae has a survival instinct, and she'd rather help out the Sith on a case-by-case basis than have any long-term contact with them. That'd would practically be like asking for all enemies of the Sith to target her -- and she's sure they've built up quite a few of them, given Darth Neiva's situation onboard the Corruo when Mae had first showed up.

The Bimmini woman barks orders at a couple of officers -- orders that have everything to do with haste -- when she hears the blonde girl speak. Mae watches the idiot's eyes fall on Darth Neiva, and there's no mistaking the predatory way she's staring at the SIth.

Mae snorts. b***h please like anything is going to happen to Neiva on Maedris's goddamn ship. Darth Neiva can probably handle herself, but keeping her safe until Anaxes is part of Mae's contract this time around.

[ To Anaxes ]

"I just needed to remind dear Reimus that there's someone waiting for him on the other side of those bars. Now that he knows..." Rikka shrugs, smiling a little cryptically.

Leaning forward, she pats Rokumasu on the cheek teasingly. "Cheer up -- Reimus isn't exactly your problem. I'm sure when we get to where we're going, we'll find him there waiting for us. So you can put him out of your mind."

Meaning, when they reached Anaxes Mab would probably lay eyes on her little pet project and instantly want to reclaim him. She'd most likely drag Reimus back into existence, or go through a lot of pain trying. Rokumasu's pain, that is.

Corruo, Hangar Bay

With dark purpose now, Sephis turned back to where he'd left Morbella standing. He'd first start investigating these intruders with her, and perhaps use her as a resource following. In a moment, Sephis moved, using the Force to boost his speed, took a small leap and landed down hard, skidding a few feet, until he stopped in front of her.

"Lieutenant... We have a number of things to discuss," Sephis said, staring down at Morbella darkly.

She wasn't going to leave his sight.

Coruscant, Missing Score

Cole watched the holocams present a detailed auditory and visual recounting of "Knight Rahl" breaking the prisoner, a Force-user that she called "Reimus," out of his cell and into a ship in Hangar Bay 04. The ship promptly took off, and that was the end of the relevant feed. There were no more accomplices or breakouts. The impostor-- or the Jedi-gone-bad-- had pulled this off all by herself. Cole was skeptical of all of it.

He shut off the holo-display. Sluggishly, he opened up a COM channel from his office to one of his lieutenants in the CIC.

""

A "secure line," in this case, meant that the conversation would not not be monitored on even the highest authority, and the recording that was automatically filed for every communication in- and outbound from this space station was to be purged after the line ended. The authorization, SHAN, was invented specifically for the recipient Cole was trying to contact. The authorization technically violated law and strict military codes, although it's necessity was implicit among the people that had written it and used it.

"Line is open, Commander," Lieutenant Liono said after a moment.

Cole waited a moment himself before he began transmitting, giving Liono ample time to close his line and keep him from overhearing. Then:

""

Cole explained everything to the Grand Master, relaying the events from his perspective, as well as the Detention Center's, albeit refraining from dropping any such names as 'Armina Rahl' or this 'Reimus' character. No need to point fingers this early in the investigation.

To Anaxes

Rokumasu's eyes widened slightly as the woman tapped his cheek, as she answered his question. Her answer had brought up even more questions to be asked, however. It was true that whoever Reimus was, he really didn't need to be of any concern to himself. They had never met before, and he didn't have any recollection of ever even hearing his name before now. Still, her actions on Coruscant became more suspicious to him every time she explained how she had no concern for Reimus, whatsoever. Hobby or not, Roku found it hard to believe that out of everyone who could have been being held against their will, by the Republic, that she just happened to pick him to be freed. Even if he believed in luck, Roku knew he wouldn't be that lucky.

However, except for her avoiding giving any information about herself, such as her name and who she allies herself with, he really didn't have many reasons to suspect her of foul play. Everything that he had up until now was speculation, with no hard evidence to back any of it. For now, he would just have to trust her, until he could find out more about what's going on.

"I don't even know the guy, so I doubt that would be very difficult. By the way, where exactly are we going, anyway?"

Mabysyn smiled demurely at the Bimm, the corners of her mouth resisting the twist to a humoured grin. She sense more than a small amount of indignation from the small woman, but there were no words to accompany them. Good. Mab liked being obeyed, and she preferred her servants to be silent. She stretched out with the force, dark tendrils caressing the minds of those closest to her, and she found nothing surprising. Hired men, all of them, and though they were not particularly fond of the Sith they still obeyed because they all retained a healthy desire to continue living and the Bimm, Mab noted with satisfaction, matched her will to live with a desire for power. Whether that power was currency, fear, or a respected title in the galaxy, the Sith respected it deeply. The bounty hunter was not so different from many Acolytes that Neiva had perused on the Corruo, yet she was already more promising than any of them. It would, perhaps, be curious to explore her potential on a later date, but for now...

Mab turned into the burning gaze of the Jedi, as if following the Bimm’s own eyes. In truth, she followed her own mechanizations, but harboured no desire to appear anything more than curious. “Would you like some of those answer now, pet?” She said sweetly, though her darkening yellow eyes were anything but sweet. The Anzat walked purposely towards the Jedi and seated herself across from her. “Why don’t we begin with your name – Irella. I trust you knew that much about yourself.

Her smile did not falter, but the tendrils she had previously sent wandering returned, wrapping themselves around the girl before her like an invisible, and subtle, ghost. The Force was there, oh yes, but it was struggling. Mab could impede that, easily, and perhaps convince the girl that her abilities were farther from her reach than they truly were – but she would have to be oh-so very gentle.

She could be gentle.

I could teach you many things, Irella.” Mab purred, “All you have to do is ask.

Morbella’s hair and uniform ruffled in the wake of Sephis’ display of speed, though her eyes remained fixed on him in an unimpressed stare. She had little taste for the force users on this ship to begin with, but when they felt the need for such vain displays of their abilities her mouth soured and she had to fight the urge to roll her eyes. She listened to what he had to say with a sigh of disappointment, which she did not resist, and then a nod.

Sir.” She said, a colorless confirmation that she’d heard what he said but a refusal to react to it. Externally she was cold as ice, but underneath those thoughts that she was masking was a torrent of fear and excitement – both of which made her sick. It was more than possible that this time, this latest moment of stupidity, was going to be the final one and she wasn’t sure if she was relieved or worried.

Kennero blinked in surprise, realizing that he had almost forgotten the matter of the funeral. Slightly embarrassed, he nodded. “After the funeral.” He’d never been to a funeral. Even the services for both Isani and Kigarin had been merely that – services. He wasn’t even sure how well he’d be able to stand there, near Sam with her grief, while his own mind already raced and demanded action.

I feel it best if I go on ahead. It could take some time for me to find a ship that will suit our needs, especially on Coruscant.” At the very least they would need something with stealth modifications and advanced shielding, something he could argue for as a Jedi, but he also desired something with enough firepower to intimidate the more lowly pirates and bounty hunters in the galaxy. For that, he’d need to bury his head below the normal channels.

I... wouldn’t be much use here now. ” That was too true. Kennero was a fighter, and the rare moments of tenderness that he was allotted midst his brevity were reserved for Mina only. Sam needed a friend, but he could not be that for her, not yet. You knew her better than I did.” He continues, almost as an excuse.

Sam smiled and shook her head slightly at Ronyo’s offer. “Thank you, Ronyo. ” She turned and looked over her shoulder kindly to add, “And thank you, Omega.” Looking up at the grandiose town house only briefly, she said. “I have a feeling that events will be progressing too quickly for us to be concerned with courtesies.

Lowering her eyes then to the ground, Sam removed herself from the speeder. “Someone will be out for... Warren. Then you could come up.” She didn’t feel right leaving Warren in the street, but she reminded herself that Warren was already gone. Turning slowly she made her way to the home through the shaded, richly decorated garden and only a moment went by before her words proved correct. A simply dressed entourage of men came from the house, all of them hired help, and relieved Ronyo of his ward. They took Warren’s body down another path through the garden to be prepared traditionally.

Time did seem to fly, and Sam was barely able to remember everything that happened as it did. There was only a few days of waiting, gathering the family that was already on Naboo, and all matters of estate and crime were handled by Warren’s sisters. The girls were more than efficient and, knowing how their brother had cared for Sam, and how Sam had cared for their brother in return, the Jedi was spared any involvement in the matters. She would not even be required for a statement, they told her, because the matter of the crime would be delegated to the Jedi as it had been Jedi responding to an element of the Sith.

So, before she knew it, she was standing before Warren again. He had been laid out on a stone bed, black fabric interwoven with slow burning chemical fibers, and the gathered family surrounded him. As his companion for five years, she was granted the privilege of standing beside Warren’s mother and, as was her wish, Ronyo Storm was permitted to stand at her side. She was glad for him to be there, and Mina as well, though she did not know where the young Jedi Knight had settled herself for the ceremony, because they were her eyes and ears. All of her other sensed were blinded, focusing only on the figure beneath the black sheet.

Music played, and a slow, sad song sung in a language that Sam did not recognize. It was Warren’s life, she was told, but she could not hear it. All she heard were tears, and she closed her eyes against her own. When the ceremony was finished, she accepted the kisses and short embraces from Warren’s mother and sisters, and then silently stood vigil at the site of the flames rising along his body. Many departed then, for the delicate sensibilities of Nubians did not require them to be present for the burning, but Sam remained. In recent days she’d discovered that her own sensibilities were not as fragile as she had believed.

Naboo/ Funeral for Warren

Ronyo had followed Sam mostly during the events that seemed to go by without so much as an exchange of friendly greetings and simple questions. The times Ronyo had not found himself needed he had taken the time to meditate in the garden and take stock the recent events. He could have allowed himself to wonder his mind and the force to find out what Sam was feeling and maybe what had transpired but that was not something the Jedi felt was needed, nor warranted.

The funeral had been a quiet somber ceremony for a man the Jedi knew almost not at all. He had only known about him through Sam and from what he had picked up from other members of the family. He had never pictured Sam settling down and becoming routine and simple but somehow it did fit her in a way. He was finding he was not entirely sure how he felt about the whole situation and even throwing aside Jedi law and tradition, even the newer ideals laid down by Grand Master Covenant, he was doing his best to understand everything.

After the ceremony Ronyo had watched the majority of the family offer Sam good wishes and loving embraces. It was something Ronyo again felt torn about, and a small part of him was jealous of Sam for having something resembling a family. They seemed to know each other and truly understand what Warren had meant to all of them, such a close family bond Ronyo had only slightly experienced with the wolves on Tython but he was sure there were differences. As Ronyo saw Sam still watching the fire he moved a bit closer to her to offer comfort and a few words.

"There is no death, there is the force. May the Force be with him even now after his time in this world. He will always be watching you and as long as you remember him he will never be gone," Ronyo put an arm around Sam as he stood watching the fire reach up and lick the sky, right now she needed a friend not a fellow Jedi, "I promise we will bring the one responsible to justice in time, and time is one thing I have a lot of."

Corruo, Interrogation Room B

The room was dark. Sephis sat in a chair, behind a table, lazily glancing down at a datapad. The datapad monitored his suspect's vitals. It would monitor the vitals of any organic being directly in front of it's vit-sensor. Right now, there was only one organic being in front of it, and that was Morbella.

The vit-sensor told him that vital signs were normal, or as close to normal as it could estimate, since it wasn't quite sure what species it was monitoring. Visual recognition painted Morbella as human or near-human. Temperature and low-radiation x-ray scans painted her insides, though, as variable enough that there was no way she could possibly be human. Suggestions for the reader were:

Clawdite
Gupin
Gurlanin
Polydroxol
Humanoid with significant successful surgical modifications
<--CLASSIFIED-->

Sephis, of course, knew which option it was. Morbella, he'd found out one surprising day, was a Gurlanin, like himself. He didn't need a computer to confirm that. It was standard Imperial procedure to monitor a suspect's vitals during an interrogation, however, and he didn't quite have it in his mind to get the Grand Admiral of the Imperial Navy on his back for breaking protocol. It just wasn't on his duty-list, today.

Sephis glanced up from the datapad at Morbella, and offered her a cold stare.

"Please state your name and rank for the record."

Corruo

Morbella rubbed her eyes for a moment and then sighed, trying to remember how things had gotten to this point. She had to wonder if this was truly necessary but refrained from trying to figure out why Sephis had such a hard-on for getting her a** busted for something. If she went down that route, she'd never manage to keep her nerves calm enough for the interrogation.

So, what strategy would she take? She could be flippant and disrespectful, which would certainly determine her fate sooner than later, but it would be equally satisfactory at this point. Even if it meant her trial and court-martial, or worse, she was seriously beginning to consider that telling this Sith off to his face might just be worth it.

Or she could be smart, which she had been for the past five years. She knew these protocols, had been present for enough of them, and had chewed the fat with enough of the Imperial interrogations specialists (Rikka-Mord among them before she'd gone rogue.) Morbella knew, for example, that many who attempted to fool the sensors by reading completely level headed were wrong. All interrogation situations provided a certain amount of stress that was expected, and accepted - it was extremes of either that cast doubt.

The most important thing, of course, was how she chose her words. That, at least, she had more than enough practice with. So, in a bored tone that hinged with a subtle dose of nervousness, for the sake of the sensors, she cleared her mind and spoke. " Morbella, Lieutenant."

Though, despite her own training to clear her thoughts and shackle the subconscious, she couldn't help but wonder if this was how it would end. It was certainly closer than any other time in her relatively short career as a double-agent. Should she just stand, now, and cut it short. Should she tell Sephis everything he wanted to hear - and then some, because she was sure the self-righteous poodu would enjoy nothing less?
No, she decided. Flicking a knowing look at his cold stare, she decided that because it was him, she wouldn't give him the satisfaction. If he could earn it, maybe.. but while she still had a shred of self-respect she would not be the dog that got skinned for the sake of one more Sith compensating for a lack of real power.
